Pizza by the slice and general Italian food dishes, this place is pretty good. Although I haven't ever had anything to write home about, if you're looking for some Italian food and you live or work close, it's a solid choice. Price is moderate, pizza by the slice if you're on the cheap or they have a good selection of appetizers and dishes if you're looking for a heavier meal. Always confused if I should just seat myself or if you're supposed to enter and order up by the cash register. I'd give them 3.5 stars if I could do half stars, if they have really good happy hour specials they'd definitely earn the whole 4 stars. read more

My friends and I were in town for a convention and we're staying close by so we decided to walk to the Italian Cafe. We went our first night, but it was so busy and there seemed to be no wait staff we left. We went back earlier the day after and were able to be seated but the service took way too long. We had to ask for our basket of bread that we figured would have come right after she took our drink orders. The food we had was good, which helped ease the slowness of service. To be fair they had one waitress working about seven tables. I would suggest getting a pasta dish if you go. They have a really good marinara and a red crema sauce. read more

I am not sure if using the word Italian qualifies this place to serve "Italian food". On a visit form out of town and the hotel suggested it as a quick place to grab a bite to eat. The pizza has to be the worst I've had and any one who thinks this pizza is good does not know what a good pizza should taste like. The service is equally as bad. The girl helping me looked like she was inconvenienced by my presence. She could not crack a smile if her life depended on it and she continued to rub her nose while serving me the food. Stopped in here because it was close to the hotel and we were starving. Place was pretty good. Service was good, food came out quick and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. My first stop around the DFW airport. I had a look on the web and found this retaurant based on the positive strokes. Sorry, ladies and gentlemen but this restaurant is well over rated. I was there for an early dinner. Awesome place, the weather was good and I had a couple of beers on the terrace. First drawback, you do not get served outside, you need to go inside! Ok never mind. I ordered the calamari fritti and the sea food pasta (scallops and mussels). The calamari fritti were no taste but oily and chewing gum texture, obviously fresh from the freezer. For the pasta I've been asked "red or white sauce"? I replied white expecting a creamy parmesan sauce. This dish I got was far away from my expectations: the white sauce was again a quite no taste but oily (and not olive oil). The scallops were very hard to find so impossible to rate the taste. The pasta were served with 3 shelled mussels, again fresh from freezer (no taste, plastic texture) and topped with "mashed" mussels looking like dog food! I have to admit that I regret not selecting pizza because they were looking very good. It's true that prices are affordable but I would have preferred paying a couple of bucks more and eat fresh food. Conclusion: if you wish to spend some time at the bar, socialize with the neighborhood and get a looking good pizza, I believe this is the right place. In town for business, and have walked past this place twice, but not gone in. I'm not really sure what to make of it. We'd just come back from Pappas, and stopped off to get some drinks, The patio was kind of chilly, so we stayed inside. It seems more like a bar for locals. The inside has more of a sports bar feel and a bleach blonde bartender could seem to care less...about anything. My friend ordered a slice of the pizza, and she said that it was good, so there's that. (But I'll take my pappas crab mac and cheese any day!) read more

A super-thick layer of cheese doesn't seem right unless it's Chicago-style pizza. I've been here twice, and both times they use way too much cheese. Crust was supposed to be crispy but didn't seem all that crisp. Great pizza, thin crust with awesome pepperoni. Could use more beer options though. My margarita tasted like dirty sink water. Our waitress sucked, didn't know about the items on the menu and was not on top of it at all. My lemon on my water had something gross on it, the waitress took the lemon, but different offer to get me another water. The short busser with the moustache really made it better, he was on top of everything from refills to boxing our food. As soon as he came out from the back he was smiling and getting things done. I really liked this restaurant. They serve "normal," non-gourmet italian food for really good prices. I sat at the bar and was VASTLY entertained by the crowd, who were mostly drinking heavily and eating slices of stuffed pizza. I had the veal parm., and it was good. Deep fried veal (which I wasn't expecting, but whatever), great sauce, and it came with really good bread, salad, and a side of pasta. I could only eat a 1/3 of the meal and took the rest to the hotel for lunch. The bartender was really nice and attentive as well! read more

What a great place. I am from out of state so don't know if this is a local chain or just a stand alone. I was in town on business just two nights and first nite was just grumpy from my flights and only pretzels all day. Choose this place because of proximity to hotel. The service was top notch, food was served quickly but felt like care went into it. I had chief special with chicken and lots of fresh ingredients such as spinach. The second night I went back because it was such a excellent experience and enjoyed a fresh Greek salad and rigatoni. I was also impressed with the pricing and value. Well done! read more

This is currently my favorite pizza spot in the Las Colinas area. Being originally from NY, I can appreciate a finely crafted pizza. Flavorful sauce and toppings, they get it right. When I'm craving pizza there is no second thought, I call into Italian cafe and go to pick it up in 15 minutes. I would definitely recommend the pizza at this place. They have a sit down area as well with an expanded menu. Hope to check that out one day too. 5/5 for "done right" pizza! read more

Called Uber and Italian Cafe and came to the now confirmed conclusion the delivery driver (with uber) purposely kept the other bags for himself. This place is walking distance for me and my car was in the shop so I went for lunch. I probably would not go again. If I did, it would be for the sake of convenience. The salad was alright. The dressing was tangy and pretty good. The bread did not come until I was almost done eating. It was hot and fresh though. The pasta was really nothing special. Kinda globby. No better than olive garden or some frozen lean cuisine kinda thing. If you are a service-sensitive kind of person you probably would have given it even less stars than I did due to the bread incident or the complete lack of any table service. You order at the counter and the food comes to you...eventually. And they do not check up on you. I like to be left alone to eat my food so this was cool with me. But not everyone would be okay with that situation. Especially since this place is comparable in price to Olive Garden or another sit down restaurant with over-priced food. And here there is not even much table service to speak of. I MIGHT go again to try their espresso drinks or pizza by the slice if I was with a friend and needed something walking distance because we just came from the cellar or something like that. Overall: Do not expect anything better than olive garden. But I did not try pizza which might be their 'thing'. read more

Drove by Carlos Bakery "Cake Boss" with the intent to pickup some New Jersey style Cannolis for dessert but the line wrapped around the building. So I used YELP near the house for "best cannoli". Italian Cafe showed as top search and they nailed the cannoli and espresso. So good, I boxed up 1/2 doz. for the family. 5 Star Cannolis....We will be back to explore the rest of the menu. read more

I'm torn between 3 or 4 stars because of my husband's influence. I give it a 3 because it was good, but nothing to write home about. I went there for lunch and had the chicken parm sandwich which was good. The parmesan coating did not have much of a parmesan flavor and I thought the sauce was missing something. Very nice staff and accomodates dogs on the patio (huge plus!). Good for a stop during a stroll around Lake Carolyn. They even have Gondola rides located right next to them!
