After finding them on Instagram and winning a free bruchetta through one of their many IG contests I had to come in. The Irving Italian Cafe is a little difficult to find because of all of the construction and parking can be hard to find as well. There is a parking garage for visitors and retail across from the 30 minute parking spaces, so I parked there and it was nice because it was free and it kept my car cool. I walked in and received a warm welcome from Benny. Benny told me to sit anywhere I wanted and I chose a four seater table. In the area I was in there were several tables and a large television screen playing soccer. There were a few other televisions around the medium sized restaurant along with a bar and a ramp leading to a larger room. The larger room had a wrap around buffet area where they had quick to go and dine in food. I sat down and flipped through their menu. It was lunch time, so I asked if they had a lunch menu. Benny told me no, but pointed out some if the items that were on special. I decided to order their spaghetti with meatballs and Greek salad. He told me that it was less expensive to do the dinner portion of the spaghetti as the salad would only be $2.50 to add--so I went with that! The Greek salad was brought out first and it was super refreshing and I ate it so fast! The salad was tossed with a light vinaigrette dressing. It was topped with cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, and a mix of fresh lettuce. Next the bruchetta was brought out and it was okay. It lacked spice and flavor, so I added some red pepper, which helped. The spaghetti looked and tasted really good, but it lacked flavor as well. The red pepper again helped, but I think some garlic, black pepper, and paprika will really add some more spice and umph to their food. They do give you great portions and their prices are not bad at all--my total was just $15 and I have a meal for a couple of days! Overall I really liked the laid back and casual atmosphere of the Italian cafe. The music was fun and it felt great just to be able to sit and enjoy my food. Will definitely be back. #1 Tiramisu I make at home because it sucks everywhere--well I need to eat my words here ( just ask them not to add the chocolate syrup-my preference of course). And for the person who complained about spending $11 for 4 mushrooms... they were covered in an amazing sauce and stuffed with crab-they were delicious!!! 12 out of 10 will be back! The food is always fresh and served hot. The portions are very large so you can share or take home for a meal later. Service is very good and now you can eat in the enclosed and cool patio. My husband is from Chicago so he says that the sausage that is served is the best he's had. The texture is so good and the spices and flavors are exceptional. Give it a try. Fresh, delicious options all the time. however my last orders seem like store bought frozen items. the meatballs looked pale and like they were reheated in a microwave and when I tasted them, they were tasteless and seemed filled with water aka heated from frozen maybe? the meat sauce over the pasta had a sharp rancid taste. I've eaten here a few times in the past. It was one of the first places my husband and I ever came for date nights/days. I usually came for the spaghetti, theirs is amazing. This time I had a plate of everything. Shrimp, calamari, mussels, pasta, and basil toppings. Amazing. I do wish someone would have checked on us more and listened when we asked for bread and refills. We finally did get one when we got out to go bowls . We have literally been waiting 17minutes after asking 3 times for the check. Still better service than my last google review. Use to be the best Italian restaurant. We would drive over 30 miles just to eat here. Last night we were anxious to dine there as we haven't been in the area for weeks. Son moved into Alesio so we stopped in here for lunch on a Sunday. Nice interior with bar and separate to go area with it's own entrance. They also had outdoor seating. Warm rolls brought to the table were great. We ordered the pasta sampler, Italian salad with chicken, artichoke salad with chicken, an order of french fries and an order of the chicken vegetable soup for us to share. Everything we had was very good. Service was attentive, I think some new people being trained but Luis was running things pretty well. I will definitely be coming back here when visiting. read more

Came here on our off night for work. So we had a small group this time. We got a table right away great atmosphere. I ordered a cafe lemonade which I got with peach vodka it was pretty good not bad. Next came the bread and let me tell you it was great. I ordered chef sergieos special which was supposed to come with Buffalo mozzarella. This dish did not have good flavor it had a butter flavor that was it not what I had envisioned. Thinking about it know it probably meant mozzarella made from Buffalo milk but I thought it meant Buffalo sauce on it. My mistake there but should of had more flavor than just butter. read more

Whoever you new owners are... I can guarantee you aren't Italian. I question whether or not you've ever even opened an Italian cookbook. I mean you raised the price of your signature Panzanella salad but removed the expensive artichoke hearts and replaced them with cheap pickles. Wtf is that??? Gross!!! 1. Don't remove expensive items from a dish replace them with cheap items then charge more. 2. Pickles DO NOT belong in a salad, EVER. Undo everything you've done and make the restaurant the way it was or you are going to lose all your customers. It's that simple. Also, those outdoor tables where you let people smoke need to be at least 15 feet from the door of the establishment. You have them 3 feet from the door. I am a bit conflicted on this review because I have been here 3 or 4 times with mixed feelings. I have read the reviews, both good and bad. I can see validity in those reviews. I have had take out pizza, it is adequate, but not my favorite. I have had pizza cooked to order for dine in and was pretty darn good, so if you want good pizza, have a seat and order one fresh. The other day I had the pasta sampler at about 4pm, and it presented beautifully, and steamy hot, maybe because, it appeared to be microwaved, which dried out the insides...a lot. It was dry and crumbly fillings with not much flavor. I was hungry so I did clean my plate anyway. The staff has been very nice to me so I do appreciate that. It is a neighborhood bar hang out for Alesio residents mostly, and they will stand around outside and it is a bit of an obstacle course to get to the door to get in. Once in you have to negotiate the bar patrons to get to a server and ask them to seat you, it isn't very clear what to do, go to a table, go to the order area... once you've figured out the maze, you are good to go for the next visit. I only gave a three star because I think they are worth a try, and be open minded. What a delight finding the Italian Cafe at 387 East Las Colinas BLvd. Irving, Texas. I've always thought that Italian food outside of Italy was at best, good and at worst, inedible. This place was cute inside and I ordered a simple dish, Angel Hair with marinara sauce adding a light dusting of Parmesan. The pasta was perfectly cooked al dente' and the marinara added a subtle meld of Italian flavors. This pasta tasted like Venice. I've ordered this same p pasta from numerous Italian restaurants in it and the Italian Cafe in Irving Texas was as good as the best and better than most. Absolutely loved this restaurant. Had a working dinner with my co worker and the noise level was minimum. We both ordered the seafood dish , which came with mussels, clams, shrimps and calamari. The calamaris are usually rubbery, but they were not. They tasted absolutely delicious and so did the rest of the food. We also ordered the tiramisu, which tasted delicious but lacked amaretto. The waiter was attentive but could have been more attentive. I highly recommend this Italian restaurant if you want to eat something different.
