We came into this experience hoping we would find an affordable caterer for our upcoming wedding. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone for a meal, and would certainly not want to trust them for a momentous occasion. My fiancé had used Italian Express as a caterer at his work pre-pandemic and remembered the food tasting great, being affordable for 300 people, and having no issues with delivery. We saw a catering menu on their website but it was dated 2018, so we wanted to go in to see if they had updated their offerings and grab lunch while we're there to see which dishes we may want to have. We walk in and are immediately hit with a gust of hot air; it's much hotter and more humid inside than outside, and it's in the mid-90s today. I walked up to the counter and asked to see a catering menu. The cashier looked really confused and grabbed a regular menu and looked at each page as if he had no idea if they catered or not (not a great sign), and then found the area that described their catering offerings. It was significantly more expensive than the posted catering prices online, but okay, I know it's been several years so I would expect the prices would go up. I'm still open to considering them at this point. We ordered a chicken fettuccine alfredo and ravioli and went to go wait in the car; even staying outside in the sun would have been more pleasant. We went back in and got our food and left. As soon as I opened the top to the alfredo dish, an off smell hit my nostrils; even my fiancé noticed immediately, and he doesn't have a great sense of smell. I was hesitant but wondering if it was just that they used an unexpected seasoning blend or something. I should not have given them the benefit of the doubt. I had a small taste of sauce and immediately recoiled. It tasted just like spoiled milk, and the sauce coated the entire dish, so it was completely inedible. I ended up returning and giving it back to them, asking for a refund. They were surprised and said they used milk that wasn't expired, but I know from personal experience that just because it hasn't passed the date, doesn't mean it hasn't gone off early for any number of reasons. I asked him to smell it but he said he wasn't able to smell right now because he had a cold...makes sense, because if he could have smelled the food he prepared, there's no way he would have sent it out the door. To add insult to injury, my fiancé snapped this pic of dead bugs in the entryway. They probably died of the heat (or that alfredo sauce). Ultimately, I'd say they earned the one star in my review because the ravioli was alright and they ended up refunding us for the alfredo. But this restaurant gave me enough reasons to not want to come here for a single meal again, let alone to give them $1,000+ worth of business for catering. read more

This place used to be insanely good and any time we wanted to order pizza we would order it from here. However recently, like the other reviews have said, I've noticed it hasn't been up to par. It's still good, crust is soft, loads of topics, very flavorful..... but it doesn't have that wow factor anymore that has you looking forward to the next time you'll order form here the moment you finish your last slice you know. Also it's not really a sit in place and I've heard their delivery times are so slow, so order to go. Still personally think it's wayyy better than Pizza Hut or Dominos. Express describes this place perfectly. Before we paid they had the food made and ready. The food was fully cooked and delicious. They are one of the most affordable Italian places I have been to in the DFW area. Highly recommend the chicken parm sandwich. The chicken is very moist and the sauce is just the right amount. Also a huge plus they have beef meatballs which is nice for people who don't eat pork. The main drawback is the location is at a busy intersection. It is hard to drive around that area. So I had heard this place sells chicken ticka pizza and I just had to try it out. I was already in the area so I was like why not? I should've called ahead and ordered but I wanted to see what other options they had available at their store. I got there and I realized it's not a place where you can sit and eat. You have to take your food to go. I believe they also deliver? So I decided to get the large chicken ticka pizza to go. It looked amazing so I was excited to try it out. Unfortunately when I did try it, it didn't meet my expectations. They added so many toppings that you can barley taste the chicken ticka favor. Also I don't get why they're were olives on it. That's such a weird combination. Maybe if it had less toppings and more of the ticka flavor it would have tasted better. I wonder if you can ask them to not add the toppings? But it's just average pizza. Nothing to fancy. And I don't think a large is worth $16. Just check out Pizza Hut if you're looking for average, decently priced pizza. read more

We got a menu on our door and since we haven't found any non-chain pizza places that deliver, we decided to give it a try. There were great coupons in the menu, so we ordered the family meal. An appetizer, large gourmet pizza, large Caesar salad and two desserts. Everything was delicious. The mozzarella sticks weren't very crispy, but that was probably from having them delivered. They were very tasty, though. The salad was very big, plenty for 3-4 people. The desserts were good, we got the NY and Turtle cheesecakes. But, the pizza was the star of night. There is no way we are ever eating here again. We are staying at a hotel that has their menu in the room, so we thought we'd give it a try. Omg. I can't even with this place. The hand tossed crust for all three things we ordered: dense, dry and heavy. Overcooked as well. Gross. It was like chewing cardboard. Garlic Cheesy Bread: what the what?? Have they ever seen garlic bread with cheese on it? Clearly not. This was a small cheese pizza with marinara on the side...cut in squares. Geez at least cut it into strips so we can pretend we're eating cheese sticks or something. Sausage Pizza: we each ate a few bites of one slice, awful. The sausage wasn't seasoned properly so the fact that there was barely any on it was actually good. Three, maybe four chunks of dry sausage per slice max. The marinara sauce has a weird aftertaste. And then there's the crust... Alfredo Chicken Pizza: I will say this was better. The Alfredo sauce they actually make ok. This is the only reason they get a star. The chicken was overcooked, borderline crunchy. And then there's the crust... 3/4 of the food went into the garbage. I didn't call back for a remake because I wasn't interested in anything else they made. If you can't make a simple pizza, I don't trust your other offerings. Well, since this is my new go-to pizza place when I'm feeling lazy, I think an update is in order! I've tried practically all of their pizzas, as well as a good number of their pastas and other items. You can't go wrong with any pizza, as they use high-quality ingredients and aren't shy with the delicious cheese. I always get thin crust and my favorites are the white pizza, chicken tikka masala and buffalo chicken with blue cheese sauce. The pastas aren't bad either, and each comes with a huge thing of cheese bread and a Caesar salad. (They finally fixed the horribly fishy dressing on the latter, so it's edible now.) The chicken wings are the one thing I urge you to avoid at all cost. Absolutely horrible. They're mushy, fatty and simply taste "off." I've tried them twice (don't know why) and have only managed to make it through two before dumping the rest in the trash. But yeah, aside from that, they're great. Try 'em out! read more

I have ordered delivery from Italian Express a number of times. You get a lot of food for relatively cheap. It's pretty decent food too. It's not the best quality, but it's good enough. And it's a great value. Stay away from the stuffed jalapenos though. The cheese they use in them is not good. I wish they would just stuff them with mozzarella. Sadly I cannot recommend this place. Their pizza was good maybe once for us. They can't seem to get their act together - never pick up the phone on time and the pizzas are sub-par. It also shocks me that for a pizza shop they cannot cut a pizza into 8 similar sized slices properly - it cannot be that difficult if you do it daily. I've given this place a couple opportunities to provide reasonable service. Last week I ordered two pizzas and after I tipped the driver I opened the box for my kid and the pepperoni pizza was slide all to one side and was a total mess. I ran out the door and got the drivers attention and he offered to remake the pizza and left. The second pizza was a Tandoori which was good in flavor but suffered the same fate as the first where it looked like the driver either dropped the boxes or maybe hit the brakes and they slid off the seat, whatever.. a total mess. After I waited an hour for the driver to return I decided to just drive up the the store myself to retrieve the pizza that was promised but never came because obviously he went to remake the one and I should have made him remake both. I didn't even eat the second one they made I handed it off to a neighbor because I don't like to have to ask anyone to remake anything I simply took him up on the offer... Tonight kids wanted it so I ordered again, pizza wasn't hot and the cheese was more like plastic, but the kicker was I ordered a 2-liter Dr. Pepper and they dropped off 5 (12 ounce) cans because the driver stated they ran out. They charge $2.69 per and you can get them all day long in Kroger's for .99 cents... but the math would be 5.5 cans, so that being said if your going to modify the order it should be to the benefit of the customer... not to cheat the customer out of a few ounces of Cola.. I've ordered from Italian Express before and was not ever disappointed, but it's been at least a few years. This time I ordered and I regret it. I ordered the chicken parmesan sandwich and my boyfriend ordered the Italian calzone. So disappointed - the calzone lacked flavor and was more like a huge pillow of dough with barely any filling. It came with a very small container of 'marinara' sauce with none inside the calzone. The chicken parm sandwich was, to be honest, disgusting. The chicken was dry, lacked flavor and seemed like it had been sitting around somewhere before being put in the sandwich. It came with potato chips so at least I enjoyed those. We ended up throwing the food away. It was that bad. Lesson learned! This place was really good! I was a little scared to try it after some reviews I've read about it. I really think it deserves a little more credit then what's been given! I got the spina' choke pizza and the garlic cheese bread sticks. What can I say they were so delicious!! I can't complain about one thing on the pizza it was very good. Now the bread sticks were a little deceiving, it almost looked like a cheese pizza. Not saying it wasn't good but just different then the bread sticks I was thinking!
