I was there for a business meeting. Two colleges and myself. Service was average, no complaints. The food was what you would expect from a dinner, greasy, cheap ingredients, etc. The main reason for the 1 star is because the waitress brought out the check, I looked at the total and saw it was $35, which seamed a little high but we were talking business so I through my card in the sleeve. Waitress comes back I through on the receipt 20% tip. We leave, Then I realize later at the office they INCLUDED the TIP already on the receipt and called it a "service charge". Italiano's wants to align itself with the city's major league restaurants when in actuality it's no better than a minor league establishment. As the old saying goes, you can't pour perfume on a skunk. Dressing up a (former) fast food restaurant in (wanna be) gourmet restaurant clothing isn't gonna automatically make you a part of the club. Upon entry you can totally tell that Italiano's wants to be more than what it is. If you wanna play in the big leagues then you need to spend money like the big boys. You can't add a coat of paint and hang a bunch of plants and expect people to take you seriously. My friend has raved about the food though so I was willing to indulge him and give it a shot. I didn't like the looks of the place so I played it safe and just ordered a sandwich with fries. The grilled cheese I had was okay but nothing to get excited over. The soda from the fountain machine was flat too so we all just ended up drinking water. One friend ordered the lasagna which looked gross to me. She said it was okay though. Not good but edible. My other friend, the one who actually likes the place, got fettuccine Alfredo but sent it back because he didn't like the sauce. Whatever they sent out in it's place was great according to them though. And to Italiano's credit they did offer a free slice of pie to make up for the bad food and flat soda. I figure that's the least they could do since the manager apparently doesn't allow bills to be credited if a customer doesn't care for the food. TAKING THE CAKE was the fact that 15% tips are automatically added to EVERY check regardless of the party size. Are you serious?? I get that the restaurant isn't located in the best area and that many customers might stiff the servers but still that's the gamble the owners decided to take. Why should the customers suffer because of someone else's choice? You want guaranteed tips by a certain clientele then open your establishment in a more favorable area!! Our waitress was ok but she certainly didn't deserve a 15% tip. Tips aren't just for service but the overall dining experience which wasn't all that great. Italiano's isn't far from my house, and my Fitbit was prodding me to get more steps today, so my son and I decided to schlep the 1/2 mile walk and grab some lunch. Walked in, ordered food from the counter -- $19.59 for a cheesesteak, fries, tuna sandwich, and two drinks. Not terrible, and the food has always been decent, so okay. But wait... When the woman who took our order found out we were actually dining in, her friendly tone changed. "There's a 15% charge for eating here", she said. "Wait, I have to pay 15% more if I want to stay?", I asked. Ummm... I asked her to cancel our order. Keep in mind, we had just walked there, and it's humid and hot outside. But no, I'm not paying extra to sit in your restaurant, so please just cancel our order so we can go elsewhere. Another woman walked up and said never mind the fee, we should just stay and eat, she would be our waitress. Not in the mood to quibble any further, we did stay. My tuna salad sandwich was perfectly serviceable. The kind of tuna salad sandwich you expect in a place like that -- a good diner tuna sandwich. Came with some chips and a pickle. My son said his cheesesteak was "okay" and "a little dry" but otherwise fine. I've gotten salads from here before, and they were good -- I recommend the Greek salad, but get it to go unless you want to pay 15% extra. Oh, and in case you were wondering, yes I did tip the waitress. 30%. Because she gave us good service, and unlike the woman who took our order, she wasn't rude. The management should give her a raise, frankly, because she's the only reason why I didn't walk straight out the door. I have not had bad experiences with ItLianos until now. We ordered the lasagna and a pepper pan pizza thru Yelp/Grub Hub. The delivery time was an hour after the order was placed. An hour and fifteen minutes later I called Grub Hub who had no record of my order. I called Italiano's and I was told that they were waiting for the driver. I called GrubHub again, this time I provided my order number. They told me the driver had not picked up my order and I should expect a delivery time of about thirty minutes. About fifteen minutes later I received a notification that my delivery would arrive in about 45 minutes. The next call I received was from some guy that said "GrubHub" when I answered the phone. I said yes? And he repeated "GrubHub". I assumed that was the delivery guy, so went outside and it was him, he handed over the food (that we had waited two hours for) and rudely walked away without a word. My friend ate a small bit of his food and began feeling sick. He became violently ill and vomited all the food back up. The pizza I ordered was not a pan pizza , it was a regular crust and it was mediocre at best. A bit greasy, nothing great at all. read more

I feel like quite a few reviews on here are giving this place a lot of flak, so I wanted to give this place some love. However, before I start, I wanted to set a few things clear, and although I may be wrong in my assumptions, they're observations that I've gathered after coming here more than a handful of times. Italiano's Restaurant, despite its name, has always come off to me as more of a diner than a restaurant. The huge menu and the fact that they're open hella early and way late (which I feel like is one of this place's most underrated qualities) just give me that feeling. I guess it's also because I usually come here late at night as well. That being said, they seem to make a little bit of almost anything that's Western-style, which is impressive. Portion sizes? Generous, if not huge. Taste of everything that I've ordered has been of good or great quality for a diner, or even a casual restaurant. Their dessert selection is also pretty impressive, and tastes really good to boot! Service here is also pretty good. The staff here always seems to be there when you need them, but isn't obtrusive at all. It's also pretty clean considering the place is open more hours than it is closed. Im glad that this place is still operating because they do have good food especially late at night but their customer service is terrible. We were told our food would take about 30 minutes to be prepared but we waited about an extra 20 minutes because we had 5 different orders. When we got to the window we were literally at the window for about an hour and some change waiting to get our food! Absolutely ridiculous, they held up the line and we explained to them that they were moving extremely slow and their was a long line and all they had to say was "oh they can wait I don't care". I love the cream of crab soup from this place. Good vibes when I go in. That said, this evening (4/28 @ 12am) on my lunch break I went, and the owner was there. 1st time ever seeing him. In a blue suit, hair slicked back, mask on. My first impression, was him arguing with a customer who was simply asking that her drink be made over because it wasnt correct. He kept telling her that he is the owner. Then, the way he speaks to his employees. You can tell he drains their energy and brings a negative vibe whenever he is around. I would give 5 stars if the owner wasn't there. I was so appalled by his behavior and demeanor that I had to leave this review. I even downloaded the Yelp app to make sure this gets seen. Diamond in the rough!!!! Been frequenting Italiano's since I moved to Bmore almost 4 years ago. It was the only place I knew because it's right off the Washington Blvd. exit off I95. For a place where I don't think I've ever seen an actual Italian employee, their pasta is the YUMNESS!! My original obsession was the chicken Cesar salads, and while they're really isn't too much to it - it's DELICIOUS! My next addiction has been anything involving the Alfredo sauce. I make enough of my own tomato based pastas, so I always buy cheese based sauces when I dine out, and this place does NOT disappoint! The service is always friendly, the "drive through window" is so convenient, and it seems like they are always open, and the food never disappoints! Ok - back track, the bread sticks that come with your meal I would give about 1 star.. For as good as the food is, I cannot understand why their bread sticks SUCK :( They have improved them this year... they have more butter, but its still doesn't live up to the expectation of the rest of your meal... Oh wait - I did have breakfast their once three years ago, and wasn't thrilled, but I am eager to go back and give it a second chance! I support Italianos!!! read more

Odd location in a weird area. It looks to be an old converted Wendy's or McDonalds store that was converted over into a restaurant/take out place. Menu is vast with a ton of choices for everything from breakfast(7-11am only), lunch all the way to dinner. I got the turkey breast club with light mayo and double bacon. Delicious. Delicious. Delicious. Toasted wheat bread was crunchy and stayed together. The mayo was light just like i asked and the bacon and turkey was fresh cut and taste fantastic. I wish it had a little more lettuce and tomato but it wasnt bad. A heaping pile of chips and a pickle topped it off. Not a bad place to go for a quick bite or take out to the workplace. I have given this place several attempts to do it right like when I first found it as a jewel. I've recently had breakfast, lunch and dinner here . This straw that broke the camels back I went in and ordered chicken Parmesan when I received my chicken parmesan I took my knife and fork and tried to cut the chicken because as I know chicken is usually moist and easier to slice but to my surprise it was hard like a brick and very hard to slice once I flipped it over I saw that it was this pinkish color the waitress said that it was a Veal that she misunderstood me with the chicken and ordered me veal instead but still it was tough so they offered me dessert to make me happy after refunding my money but when I got home with the red velvet cheesecake only to find out that it was stale it taste like the fridge so I'm not returning to this place anymore. This is unfortunate for me because I always took family and friends to this place because I like the hours the fact that you can get breakfast at any time , the food back then was awesome and it was a business that was in the city . read more

Ordered late night delivery for a bunch of ER staff. Good came super fast, within 20 mins. I didn't realize they had already added gratuity but I called the restaurant back and the manager easily took off the extra tip that I added in on top of it. Also realized that they forgot 2 soups in my delivery and they sent it back straight away. Great customer service. Bought a eggplant parm submarine sandwich from this place. The eggplant was dry heavily breaded deep fried and burned, in other words disgusting. Very little sauce and cheese. The building use to be an old KFC. So it still feels like you are in a fast food restaurant. But the food is great and you get huge portions. The menu is huge and the cooks are fast. The deserts are also nice. I did enjoy the red sauce for the dishes. Great place. read more

Let me start by saying that I would ordinarily give Italiano's 3 stars.... but my husband and I are so grateful to them that I had to up my review. And on Sunday night we would have given them a million star rating if we could! Our wedding was on Sunday evening and, naturally, we ate nothing. We were staying at a hotel in Linthicum and room service was closed. We could find literally nothing to eat - no place in the hotel had food for us, no place would deliver to us, and the 24 hour McDonald's nearby was mysteriously closed. We were happy, deliriously tired, and very very very hungry. Enter Italiano's.... I have no idea how I found them but I did and they were willing to deliver to our hotel in Linthicum at 2am! Here was the catch: there was a $45 minimum. I don't know if that's legit or if they threw out an arbitrary number as some type of compensation for making them schlep out to near the airport in the middle of the night. We happily obliged and ordered everything our hungry little gluttonous hearts desired. We had our food within 45 minutes and they brought it right to our hotel room. Here's a breakdown of all of the disgustingly unhealthy things we had: THE GOOD: The white pizza is sooooooooo good!!!! There's nothing fancy about it (no spinach, no ricotta, etc.) but for being a straight white pie it was really delicious. Also the cheeseburger was no frills (it was a normal takeout or diner type burger) but I enjoyed it quite a bit and it held well when I ate most of it the next day as leftovers. And finally, the mozzarella sticks - YUM. THE MEDIOCRE: The cheese fries are literally fries in that bright orange fake cheese sauce which is fine but feels really kind of gross in my adult life. In my college life I would have been really jazzed about it, probably because I was drunk. Also we ate a couple of bites of Oreo cheesecake and it tasted good enough but didn't actually taste very much like cheesecake to me. THE BAD: The macaroni and cheese was nearly inedible. It didn't even taste like cheese. We each ate one bite and threw it out. Hard pass on that. When he returned we were missing some items. When I called a man answered and I let him know I was missing a few items and I was charged for them and that my friend walked in the rain to get the food and I let him know I spoke to the younger girl who answered and that she repeated my order to me and charged me for it. I heard him tell the girl what was going on and her response was "tell her walk back down and get it" I asked him to let me speak to a manager. I told the manager what happen and her response and let the manager know I was unhappy and that they needed to deliver my missing items. He repeated to tell me no he wasn't and that I had to walk back down to get them. Horrible customer service to say the least. I love Italiano's. It is located in a building that used to be a KFC or something like that, and you can definitely tell- it's not the most charming ambience ever. But it's unpretentious, down-to-earth, good food and good service. It's full of "regular people." I especially appreciate the pick-up window service- I call my order in, hop in my car, and pick it up from the window. It's located right near the Washington Blvd entrance to I-95. I really like the eggplant parmigiana here, and that is saying something because I'm a NY-er and until Italiano's I didn't think good eggplant parm existed outside of NYC. It's nothing fancy, but it's yummy and cheap! They also have a good cream of crab soup.. yumm. I've also had the fried shrimp in a basket, and the fried chicken. It's all good for the price. Like everyone else says, this place is placed very oddly - right off the exit of 95. In fact, you might miss it if you're going a little fast as you get off the ramp. The service is always very good. Some of the waitresses/waiters have a little difficulty speaking and understanding english, but they try. Sometimes you'll get one that's had a bad day and it shows, but they don't take it out on you - they'll just look pissed. I heard the owner participates in some sort of foreign acclimatization program, which means his restaurant provides a place to work for new immigrants and/or refugees. Personally, I think that's really awesome and gives the place a very caring feel. They give you free mozzarella sticks as you wait for your food to come out. They're obviously reheated from frozen sticks, but together with the delicious meat dipping sauce it's definitely pretty good. - Pizza fries were interesting, and a generous portion for the price. Simply frozen crinkle cut fries topped with pizza sauce and cheese - but a fun idea. -Monte Cristo is definitely amazing. I'd highly recommend it - it's huge and comes with fruit. -Burgers (beef and turkey) all obviously come from frozen patties. They're mehh. -Tortellini was very well done. Manicotti not so much. -Lots of dessert choices in the fridge. Cannolis, cakes...yum! Clean and very intimate ambiance. The fact that the tables make it look like Italiano's used to be a fast food place can be a bit unnerving, but I've never had a problem with it. Good food, good price, good service. This review is way overdue, as I started writing it a couple months ago... My brother and I ordered the Italian platter with three "samplings" on it...the chicken parm, the manicotti, and the lasagna. I gave back my lasagna and exchanged it for another portion of manicotti. The meat in the lasagna was very finely ground (think Taco Bell), and it was layered on very thick between two of the shells. You would think this wouldn't be a problem...but there was just something about it that turned me off. Maybe it was the texture, or that it seemed bland because it was naked meat and not sauced up. The manicotti itself was simply better than the lasagna, but I still had higher hopes for an "Italian" restaurant. The chicken parm was good, with a crispy crust like it should have, and the right amount of sauce and cheese on top that didn't smother it too much. It wasn't really "bad," it just wasn't that good. They have a "full service bar," if you count the fact that there actually is no bar and the liquor is hidden on some back storage shelf somewhere. I actually asked them where the bar was, and that was basically the response they gave me. The server was pleasant and attentive enough without being overbearing. I did not see one single Italian working in this Italian restaurant. Perhaps a better name would be "Phillitanos" to combine the actual staff heritage with trying to serve Italian food. My boyfriend has tried a few items here between a couple visits. His first visit was a cheesesteak, which he liked. Another time we got Crab Cakes through the drive through (Nice and convenient!), but the order wasn't exactly right. He liked the crab cakes quite a bit, but then we ordered them again a couple weeks later and they were too mayonnaise-y, which was a complete turn-off. He hasn't ordered them again since then. If it cannot be consistent, he doesn't want to waste his time/money going for it again. (I can't blame him.) My understanding is that they're open 21 hours a day - just closed from 4 a.m. to 7 a.m. I've heard they have a good breakfast, but have not tried that yet. this place is utterly horrible when it comes to customer service and honestly just their service in general! i currently reside in bmore and this "restaurant" is always open so it seems like the best option at times. i've called in many orders and doordash as well. the only times ive received my correct order are times ive gone and picked it up myself and even then they gave me someone elses completely different order (thank god i checked before leaving). do not order delivery from here. the workers are always in a frenzy and make so many mistakes with orders time and time again. just walk in one day and i guarantee you will shake your head cuz im dead right. after waiting at least 46-50 minutes for a delivery order, they get it wrong and you stillllll have to go through doordash to fix it, only to get a credit, refund or redelivery option.....all of which still leave you hungry af with no food. save yourself the torment and stomach grumbles and just go pick up your food and check that thing before you leave!!!! i give them one star cuz the food is actually bomb but the service and terrible attitudinal employees make you wanna burn it to the ground! read more
