Amazing, their value and quality can't be beat! I got hooked on their baked cha siu bao after my first order and had to return again for another round. Their bread is subtly sweet and it toasts amazingly after a drive home. My first time trying I ordered just about everything off their menu to split and try since I've been craving dim sum since the beginning of the pandemic. Ixlb satisfies in terms of quality, but of course the trade off is a limited selection of offerings compared to traditional sit-down dim sum restaurants. Their packaging is near flawless too, no spills and plenty of sauce provided. I personally found the pineapple bun to be too sweet for my tastes, but it does have an addicting quality, so be careful ordering these (lol). Regular cha siu baos were great, and extremely minor nitpick but their xiao long bao has a thicker layer of dough skin than I'm used to. On our quest to try new places we happened to be nearby and placed an order to go. Doesn't seem like a place where you can sit down to eat in any case. Lots of choices, small portions, reasonably priced menu- therefore we ordered a lot. The fried stuff while tasty was a bit greasy. Specially tempura is not supposed to be greasy but the shrimp were and so were the egg rolls and the scallion pancakes. Tasty but greasy. The spicy noodles were awesome. The chicken over rice was pedestrian. But the rest of the stuff was really good. Our son loved the 'pigs in a blanket'. This dish will fill you up but it wasn't anything to write home about. 3/5 They also had a bento box with a tea egg, some veg, tofu, braised pork... This was also cold but it tasted yummy!! I would get this dish again! 4.5/5 I also ordered the spicy cucumber with jalapeno but imagine my disappointment... It only has one measly jalapeno and the spice came from chili sauce. :( Don't get my wrong it still tasted ok... But I thought that this was going to be a cucumber and jalapeno salad. Super love this restaurant. I love how minimalist it looks . Located only about 10 mins from Universal Studios, we alwas stop by here to have the best dumplings whenever we visit the park. Super clean and service is fast. The Filipino crew in the cashier is very friendly and nice. They also have a monitor wherein u can just order your food. You can have a free parking for 1 hour too! Ordered delivery and food came hot and delicious! Perhaps they could have included a bit extra sauces and condiments for the dishes (such as sweet sauce for the spring rolls), but hardly a huge complaint given how everything was. Pork Siu Mai - PACKED with meat and veg, this is perfectly seasoned and just explodes in your mouth. One order was 4 pcs and enough for a good portion of a 2 person meal. That said...I bought 2 orders for 2 people and am happy I was indulgent ;) Xio Long Bao - My comparison point in Cal is Din Tai Fung and these dumplings held up to the competition - for a fraction of the price. DTF's version has more soup and fills your mouth with hot broth immediately, while ixlb's are more subtle, but more than make up in flavor what they perhaps lack in soupy KA-POWness. Shrimp Wontons - Again 4 per order and that's plenty! Absolutely yummy, came with most crispiness remaining (not bad for a few mile trip!) and their chili sauce is solid. Seems like at least two shrimp (or a beautifully tasty and huge single) in this monster. Loved this dish. We also ordered the fried shrimp balls (odd texture at first, then that rich flavor takes over and you're transported to another, kinder, place). Spring Rolls were hot and fresh and delicious (see note about sauce above), and the Cha Siu was fine, definitely have had better in town, but I primarily ordered to make my own fried rice later in the week, so fine by me. No comments on ambiance of actual store as only delivery so far, but this is definitely my new GO-TO (or COME-FROM) spot of Dim Sum in Hollywood and mid-city! read more

At first I was a little skeptical of the concept. Why the iPads, and where are the carts? Still, the selection was pretty good, and the descriptions and photos make it easy for dimsum experts and novices alike. There are about 15-20 seats. It would be sort of tough with a group, but a 5-person group next to us made it work. Food came out quickly and hot. There must be a place that has all three items that is closer. Yes, there's Long in LA Chinatown. I know that IXLB makes chicken siu mai and they don't add extra MSG. So 10 minutes longer up the 101 freeway on the corner of Sunset and Bronson is IXLB. They were out of chicken buns. I ordered the chicken siu mai, turnip cakes, egg tarts and rice balls. I like the texture and flavor of the siu mai. Much better than Fifty One. The turnip cake was a disaster. Hard on the outside like they made it and re-fried it. It was like chewing rubber. I did not taste the texture of the daikon. There should be pieces of daikon you can taste. Felt like a glob of paste I'm eating. This fails completely. Did not try the sticky rice ball yet. My wife who loves a good egg tart said this one is good. They way she makes them. So IXLB gets 2 out of 3. DJ's rating 2.96/5.0. Would I come back? Yes. However, I will not order the turnip cakes from IXLB. When it comes to dim sum, I'm super critical. No one gets a free hall pass. If I had subpar dim sum, that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. We ordered the Pickled Cucumbers, Scallion Pancakes, Chow Mein, Har Gow, Shrimp Wontons with chili oil, Siu Mai, Xiao Long Bao, Pan Fried Dumplings, Pork Fried Rice, Egg Custard Tarts, Red Bean Donuts, and the Iced Coconut Tapioca Drink. I absolutely loved everything but I might do without the rice and chow mein next time. This place is a tiny hole in the wall. You'll know you found the right place when you see the giant dumpling painted on the wall. Lol. I love the artwork. At the moment there is no sit down dining. It's take out only. There aren't many dim sum places outside of the SGV, that I am aware of at least. And much less good ones. So this place has always been a perfect addition to the food options in the area. They are very small. It's more of a carryout place, kind of like Little Ceasar's. They do have a counter against the windows and a small table, but it's limited. Its not meant for dine in.You can order either at the counter or on tablets located against the wall. As far as the food itself, I have tried almost everything and there is nothing I haven't liked. At first I was a little skeptical because the dimsum places I went to were all the typical traditional dimsum restaurants, so I was surprised to see how modern the interior design is. Great services, not too long wait time. Everything is SO DELICIOUS and definitely up to par!! And since the prices for dim sum around Rosemead has gone up, I no longer consider IXLB's prices to be on the expensive side. You do get what you pay for, so it's all worth it. Always fresh. My regular order: Shrimp Har Gow, Shrimp and Chives dumpling, Siu Mai, and can't forget their sugared donuts (yum!). They also have this tasty coconut tapioca drink. The owners are the sweetest, the workers are so professional and friendly, and the place is one of the cleanest places I've ever gotten food from. Everyone there works hard. They're always busy! Great dim sum without having to venture too far east! It's definitely pricier than going east but you can also tell that the quality is a lot higher (and it's a lot cheaper than going WEST to Bao or to Din Tai Fung). Because it's a fast casual place, it could also serve the purpose of satisfying a dim sum craving for one. You don't always need the full dim sum experience, sometimes you just need a little dumpling fix, and this place hits the spot. In order of my favorite to least favorite (but I liked everything, and this is probably personal preference): Shrimp Wonton with Chili Oil - loved this Veggie Dumpling Har Gow Seafood Pearl Siu Mai XiaoLongBao - just not something that travels well Egg Custard I love the breadth of the menu.. Good Dim Sum in a pinch, the first I've had since the apocalypse began. The problem with Dim Sum to-go is that it doesn't maintain heat as well as other foods. Everything is separated in the packaging so by the time you get home, it's all lukewarm at best. This is particularly true with XLB and other steamed dumplings. I ordered the XLB and the Fried Shrimp Wontons in Chili oil. The XLB were barely warm when I got to it, but the Fried Wontons were still good. Of course this is not IXLB's fault. Next time, I will just have to eat it in my car right away. I also ordered the Chow Mein (which was still warm) and the Pickled Cucumber. The Chow Mein was a little plain in flavor but the Cucumbers were nicely seasoned with a bit of heat.
