Ohhh, the chili soup
Agnew D.

I will have to start and finish with the food, simply amazing. Starting with the appetizers a the inaugural drink, I was hooked. I will have to highlight service as I was never lacking for a refill. I did however have to skip dessert as I literally hit capacity. The atmosphere was very welcoming and not overwhelming. While I did not feel like I was home, I felt recognized and cared for. Will definitely frequent again.

Pork chop, baked potato mac & cheese my friend had chicken tenders and a baked potato
Tawanda S.

Our server was wonderful and very attentive. He was new a very willing to check on anything that we asked with someone who knew the food was hot. The pork chop was so very tender and huge. The place itself was nice. Bathroom was kind of far away but all in all, I will definitely go back

Crab cakes

The food was flavorful and the ambiance was nice. It was a mixed crowd of people celebrating, date nights, work crowd, and families. Our server was Cassie. She was delightful and checked on us with the right timing. I ordered the crab cakes which were full of lump crab. There is way more crab than breading which I can appreciate. My only complaint is that my food could have been a bit warmer. I didn't feel like sending it back. I paired it with a glass of Riesling. Something to note, this is also known as Redlands. Overall, I would say this restaurant is worth a try. Enjoy it!

Modern Moscow mule and skinny margarita
Meki A.

I am never disappointed when I come here. It's the consistency for me!! When I want a good steak the Steak Maui never disappoints. It's so flavorful and it was prepared to perfection (medium). I always swap out the mash potatoes for the Mac n cheese. No matter what I order here I ALWAYS order the Mac n Cheese, it sooo good! It's one of the best out there!! When I come here with my family we always start with the Queso dip. I got the modern Moscow mule and my sister got a skinny margarita. We both enjoyed our cocktails. My sister couldn't decide if she wanted the chicken platter or steak so we decided to split both. It was the best decision!! The chicken tenders were juicy and seasoned well. You get both honey mustard and bbq as you dipping sauces, both are delicious! The platter also comes with shoestring fries and she subbed her coleslaw out for.....Mac n Cheese!! I am telling you, if you havent tried it I totally recommend it. My mom had the same dish as me. I recommend coming here for a date night, GNO, or a group. You will not be disappointed!

Mr. Jack 's Crispy Chicken Platter (subbed the cole slaw for the infamous Mac n' cheese)

J Alexander's never disappoints. We came here for an early dinner and started with the queso dip. It came pretty quickly which I was thankful for considering we were all hungry! I ordered the tenders and subbed the cole slaw for the Mac n' cheese. If you've never had their Mac n' cheese, you are missing out big time!! The tenders were great and i love their honey mustard sauce! My sister ordered the steak maui (not pictured) which is one of my favorite things on the menu (after the mac n'cheese). We made reservations and got seated right away. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is nice for a date night or outing with friends/family. Parking is great and there's a lot of options around the restaurant to walk off this great cheat meal!

The answer is...the answer. Eric R. randomly selected Answer on a list of restaurants we scrolled…read morethrough to make a reservation for on our first night in Nashville this week. It is tucked in a neighborhood in the West End, and most people were surprised we found it or had heard of it as non-locals. It is a very popular spot. We arrived 20 minutes early and snagged the last parking spot in the lot behind the restaurant. Eric R. wanted to sit outside, so we were directed to wait at the bar until a table opened up. I got the cucumber sage yuzu spritz mocktail, and Eric R. got a local amber beer. Our table was ready within 10 or 15 minutes, so we migrated to it for dinner. Our server was helpful in providing recommendations. We started with three shareables: the mussels in lemongrass serrano beer broth and grilled bread, tempura long-stemmed artichokes on Calabrian chile mascarpone, and the lamb lollipops with pearled cous cous. I tasted the lamb, and it was heavenly, like melt-in-your-mouth tender but with a lot of caramelization. That was really Eric R.'s choice so I let him eat the majority of it. I really enjoyed the mussels and the artichokes! Everything was hot and delicious. I was sipping broth with a mussel shell when the bread ran out, and the host came out with more bread for us! It was so good. We asked to see a dessert menu. Eric R. had a tough choice between carrot cake and blondie with caramel ice cream, but was steered toward the blondie and did not regret it. I asked what the house made ice cream was for the day, and it was coconut matcha with a white chocolate shell topping. That sounded so perfect, and it was AMAZING. The evening was beautiful, the restaurant was lovely, the service was fantastic, and the food was delicious! That is the answer!

Answer has been on my list for happy hour! $6 drinks and snacks! They have a great happy hour with…read moresolid food and drink options. HEADS-UP the happy hour menu is bar-top only, so plan accordingly if you're going specifically for those deals. Limited seating available. Happy Hour & Spice Level I had the happy hour cocktail it was bourbon, lemon and honey. The food was flavorful overall, but I do wish the menu clearly noted which items are spicy. Most of the happy hour dishes seemed to have some kind of chili oil or heat element. That may be great for people who enjoy spice, but it would be helpful to know ahead of time, especially if you're sensitive to heat. For dessert, we always come back for the chocolate panna cotta with graham cracker crumble and burnt marshmallow, which was a nice sweet finish. This one is a must! To put this into next level I recommend adding the pretzel bites instead of graham cracker and a few salted flakes. We also tried the almond butter cornbread with blackberry, but I would avoid it. It was pretty dry and didn't have enough balance. The manager? Said it was a new item they were trying. I think it would be much better with ice cream or a salted caramel sauce to add moisture and richness. It was dry even when I mentioned it they didn't comp it we only had a bite and immediately decided it wasn't worth it. Final Thoughts Overall, Answer is a nice spot with a great happy hour, but clearer spice notes on the menu and a few tweaks to the dessert options would make the experience better. If you are seating by the bar it gets loud I wish the bartender doesn't just throw the drinks/plates so aggressively that it clanks. Also this place gets loud definitely not a lot for sound to absorb.

When we moved to the bar, the bartender, Ashley, asked if we were moving from another spot. When we said yes, she said we would need to get what we needed from our server. Cool, we had already ordered and we would order the next round of drinks from her. After our food came, my wife asked the bartender for a napkin, and she gave it to her, but said, I told you that you would need to get anything you needed from your server . My wife, not really believing what she had heard, said, even a napkin? Ashley says "yes, I'm not making any money off you". I don't think I've ever heard anyone in the service industry be so rude. We talked to the manager and she suggested a review.
