Don't waste money on the Chicago beef sammie. Service was abysmal, put out back in the corner so the waitress never came back to refill sodas or water. If they can't do that what else are they missing??? With a ton of options for food in this area you might be better off trying something else.. good day! read more

Was visiting Bend from out of town and decided to stop at this place. It was one of the only spots open at the time with food that looked appealing to us so we stopped in! Instantly we were greeted by the most charismatic guy in the world! He was so funny and kind. I didn't have a chance to catch his name, but he was fantastic. The food came out about five minutes (not kidding) after we ordered which was possibly the quickest service I've ever had at a sit down restaurant. When the waiter was walking over with our food I said, "Woah, that was fast!" And he replied, "Still not fast enough!" It was great! The food was unbelievable tasty and VERY reasonably priced. The atmosphere was cute as well. I can't recommend this place enough if you need somewhere to eat in downtown Bend! read more

We visited J Dub twice on our trip to Bend. This place has excellent service and treated our dog like a VIP (Very Important Pooch). Our pup loved the grilled chicken and sweet potato entree from the dog menu. I wasn't the biggest fan of the black bean burger but I liked the devilled eggs and salad with crispy chicken. Fantastic lunch. I love to give great reviews and feel compelled to when they've earned it. Walking in, J Dub is a clean and well laid out establishment with a dining room inside, bar in back, and a great outdoor patio (we sat outside). The patio is pet friendly - big bonus there (entry is available from the alley if you have a four legged creature. The bar and patio are open seating. I took a chance on the roast beef dip sandwich with sweet potato tots. My daughter had the glazed doughnut burger. My wife had a wedge salad and my daughter the "I don't know" chicken strips. The service was awesome. The food came quickly and was hot. Good portions. The wedge and chicken strips were good but the pot roast and doughnut fare took the prize. The pot roast sandwich was served on toasted Texas style bread with cheese. It was tender and delicious having been properly seasoned. It came with a side of homemade brown gravy for dipping - it was rich and not salty which is a common problem with gravy and sauces. The sweet potato tots had great consistency - crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. The doughnut burger was surprising. My whole family ended up trying it and we all agreed that we would order it again. The glazed doughnut wasn't messy as the glaze was inside and the outside was toasted. With the egg, the sandwich was rich, savory with the meat and cheese, then sweet with the candied bacon and doughnut. Awesome combo that was composed well. 5 stars for J Dub, their staff, and the food. Next time I'll have to have a beer with lunch (looks like they have a big selection of local and regional brews. read more

Ordered breakfast Togo. Highly recommend checking the food. Eggs were missing and a pancake was burnt. I got the chicken fried chicken which just seemed to be a chicken strip. We have eaten breakfast at J-Dub previously and it was good. But our visit today was disappointing all the way around. One meal had under cooked, cold bacon, cold eggs and cold potatoes. Sent it back. The bisquets and gravy, which they say are "better than Mom's", was also disappointing. The gravy was unlike anything I've had before..just a few tiny little pieces of sausage and not like gravy at all. It appeared they put more effort into sprinkling paprika on the bisquets than to making classic gravy that would fill you up. We won't be eating at J-Dub's ever again...really a bummer, it's a nice space, but food has gone downhill. read more

There are about 5 restaurants we love to frequent in town, depending on what we are in the mood for - this is one of them. For having a downtown location, they don't charge downtown prices. It's pub fair, but done right. Service has always been good and we've been going since they opened, that says a lot in the current climate where some places are suffering to find good employees - never been disappointed. Love the vibe with the paper on the table, they are always enthusiastic to put up my kids artwork. Food is consistent, beer prices are fair, and good happy hour. They are also one of the only places in town to serve fried pickles, please don't get rid of these they can be hard to find. read more

Read some great reviews on this restaurant but was very disappointed. Came in on Saturday around noon for lunch. There was about an hour wait which was totally understandable with the Fairwell Festival being in town. i had no issues with the wait. Was seated and thats when the issues began. Trevor came to take our order. We ordered a basket of cheese curds as an app, then two burgers for the main. My wife ordered an iced tea and got maybe 3 ice cubes in it. We asked for a cup of ice but never received it. We watched two of the tables sat after us get their apps pretty quickly, and at about the 20 minute mark I asked Trevor if he knew when ours was coming. At this point, I just wanted him to be upfront and say either he forgot to ring it in or the kitchen lost the ticket, but instead he told me that the kitchen was very backed up with fryer orders (two of which went out to the aforementioned tables sat after us). So I knew I was being lied to. He said that all the food was going to come out together. 3 minutes later, our cheese curds came out first. I'm only giving two stars because the cheese curds were great. The burgers came out 7 min after that, and were decent but forgettable. Nothing special. We ate, and asked for the check which was dropped off and processed very quickly. Working myself in service and hospitality, I would have been fine if Trevor was just upfront with me and let me know there was a mistake. Lying to me really just ruined the overall experience. I understand that it's a busy weekend, but you still have to make sure every customer leaves feeling like they were taken care of. read more

If you're looking for somewhere low-key with top-notch food, this is it. We've never been to Bend and we were looking for somewhere to grab dinner. Sadly, since restaurants will be closed for indoor seating starting tomorrow we basically got one shot at finding a great spot. I was all excited for the chicken fried chicken (the Yelp photos sold me on coming here specifically for this)...which to my disappointment is only served during breakfast (which is weekends only), and my hubby was excited for the onion rings...which they were out of. And qfter finding all of this out, I was feeling OK because they had a peach mango kombucha... which they had just run out of. With the governor's COVID regs closing restaurants down, they were out of a lot of stuff. To note, their menu must change often because they had many of the items in the menu photos people have posted, but not all of them. Everything we ordered was delicious and I don't regret coming here even with all the other options. Their sweet tots were crispy and flavorful. Their sauces all had kicks, the ranch was so good! And I am not one to usually comment on condiments. The claim chowder is easily a 4.5/5. The California Chicken Sandwich had all the right flavors with that pesto... I ordered it with fried chicken which was amazing... not too bready, lightly fried, chicken was juicy. Hubby loved the Roadhouse burger and he is usually picky with burgers. Service was fantastic! I opted for the chicken fried chicken and it's possibly the best gravy I've ever had period the chicken was also super moist and tender and the biscuit was excellent that it came with. Blue cheese had nice small bits. Home made soups... clam chowder was excellent (note: had bacon) but so worth the try. Also known for their daily deviled egg. Todays was pancake, sausage, and maple syrup. Lobster Mac n cheese was scrumptious, washed all down with ice tea and lemonade. Yassssss!!! We actually walked through the courtyard with the full intention to just walk through and find dinner somewhere else. The bartender greeted us immediately and was so friendly. Didn't ask what we wanted right off the bat, just asked us how our day was (awesome btw). We asked to see a menu because we initially thought this was just late, laaattteee night bar food. We were very wrong!! We started with wings and ordered them dry on purpose (you can't hide a bad wing behind good sauce when you order dry). They not only accommodated but rocked the presentation! We had dipping sauces of both bbq and buffalo and wings that were crispy and not bagged. They were cut from thighs! Like hand cut! Whoa!! We decided to order dinner and both got different burgers. While they were good it would have been perfect if they were combined. Spam is yummy (stop it haters) but also salty while my burger lacked taste. But we admittedly love seasonings! Play with the seasons while hand forming burgers my fiends! It is worth it! Regardless of that, our experience was fantastic and I would absolutely come back again! We had a very interesting experience at Jdub today. Not our first visit, but our first COVID and breakfast visit. What went right: *sat on the back patio right away although fairly busy (lucky timing on our part) *COVID safety measures in place *food was excellent - once right *server was great even considering the following... The Following (aka: things that did not go right *lipstick on my water glass, finger prints on the business end of my silverware *meals were slightly wrong (they fixed, no problem) *kombucha was rancid? I've had many commercial booch and made my own for years...the "LSD" from local company was literally the most horrid beverage I've ever sampled. Not sure who to blame on that one (I do believe they took it off our bill). There was some unidentifiable stuff stuck to the can lid when it was served...maybe it had been sitting in the back of the fridge for too long due to shutdown? IDK...I didn't know booch could actually go bad. I believe differently now. *our scrambles were served in...buckets?! Seemed appropriate for maybe fries or onion rings...but not a scramble. They need to go back to the drawing board on that plating/presentation. I assumed we were supposed to dump it on the aluminum "plate" it was served on(?) because there was no way to cut all my bell peppers (not diced, in strips) in a small bucket. So dump we did, but that just made it all upside down and now looked like an meh pile of food instead if a lovely dish (which it really could have been - beautiful ingredients!). My eggs were over medium so dumping them caused the yolk to go every where. One of the egg yolks had broken before I dumped, so a good portion of the yolk had gone down into the bottom of the bucket instead of my plate...disappointing. I just do not get the the bucket thing. Yes, it's a "scramble" but I always order mine with OM eggs as I like runny yolk 8-9 This was honestly more like a 2.5 star experience but I rounded up because we've been there before for lunch and enjoyed it.
