Jorge and his team are total professionals and took excellent care of me when I needed to replace the engine in my 2011 Kia Sedona. He gave me great advice upfront when he first examined the van, and he was always in communication, letting me know where they were in the process. And when I picked the van up, he asked me to come by later in the week so they could check the oil, and then in 30 days to put the van up on the rack and do a more thorough check. I had a rule that I never give 5 stars because let's face it, most people either give a place 5 stars or 1 star. But, I have to say, so far, this place is as good as it gets. Granted I had a fairly simple request - and oil change and my automatic trunk latch was failing. The oil change was straightforward, but literally half of what I paid to a good shop in the city (assuming cost of doing business higher in city). For my trunk, he fixed the issue which, both of us knew, would be temporary, and then let me know, when the trunk motor fails completely, what it would take. He literally felt bad for charging me to do the temporary fix and ask if $20 was fair. When has a mechanic ever not charged you at least a full hour for work no questions asked. I realized I could have said $10 was more fair (and he would have agreed), but really, I want more honest mechanics and I am happy to give them my business to stay open. Incredible service!! My "service engine" light came on and I was experiencing horrible misfiring and they were able to schedule me the following morning. Jorge was very thorough explaining what needed to be replaced in my BMW 328xi and kept me up-to-date what was wrong with my car. He was also amazing at keeping with the quoted time required with servicing my vehicle. I went to a different auto shop and they ended up requiring more than double the time they estimated to change my rear brakes and rotors. I definitely would recommend J.E.V. I'm a long-time (50+yrs) DIY backyard mechanic myself but now live in a HOA community so I'm limited as to what I can do in our Home garage. Realizing this, I was referred to Jorge, who did an amazing job, and got it running smoothly. Jorge is thorough and efficient. So there I was with my first flat tire, safely parked in a parking lot at least. I freaked out, got my car fitted with a donut and ran home to tell Jorge my latest problem! Backing up... I'm a single mom of three very young children and I have a hour plus commute to and from work every day. With only one car, I must know that my car is properly maintained. I've been going to see Jorge and his incredible staff for my Volvo maintenance needs for about two years now. He knows I've only got the one car and often takes extra care to make sure I can get to and from his shop. Back to the flat tire dilemma... I called, texted, emailed, sent out a flare... and sure enough Jorge and his team were right there ready to help. He got my tire changed out in record time. He's even had my car cleaned before when I wasn't even expecting it. My Passat was overheating with no coolant leakage, and I suspect it was water pump. It was also time to change timing belt. So I bought all things, and start calling places to find best price in Novato, since car broke in Novato. I called at least 10 numbers and Jorge said lowest price and soonest timing - so that was my choice. And I am so happy I did right choice! My parts did not came in time (ebay delivery...) and car was seating in his shop for couple days.. and Jorge was just fine with that, and least he did not say a bad word, -) I promised him on Wed., and parts did not come even on Friday. So I bought them locally from Viking (BTW price was as great as lowest on Ebay!), and he finished it on Saturday. All was so easy to communicate and job was done very well. I am an EXTREMELY difficult customer due to bad automotive work done on my vehicles over the years. I'm skeptical and untrusting until proven. My husband and I had work done on our van in an emergency and Jorge was a knight in coveralls. :-) He gave it to us straight and helped us in a bind. His fees are comparable if not less than most in this area. Yes, he does the work for himself and answers his phone. Yes, that is what a person who owns and runs his own business does in the beginning. I hope one day he'll be able to add help who can be a duplicate of him, but until then I'm willing to drop off my vehicles and come back when completed. As for returning to him, I brought my van back three months later for additional major work that is required for a vehicle with 130,000. I pride myself in making sure I maintain our vehicles so we don't have emergencies but somehow failed in getting the 100,000 mile tune-up. (There went my pride.) I subsequently brought the car back for needed work on numerous occasions and was satisfied each time. As a result, when friends ask me to refer a mechanic, I always referred George. I am new to the area and was having a difficult time finding a mechanic in SF that is open on weekends. I have a Volvo that needed the 50K mileage tune-up. I have only brought the car to the dealership or specialized Volvo mechanics in the past. I called JEV without much notice and he squeezed me in that same Saturday. Upon dropping off my car I was eagerly greeted by Jorge. He was very friendly and professional. He called with a status update about 1 hour later and was done within 2 hours. He mentioned some work that would need to be done at my next regular scheduled maintenance but said everything else was excellent. Jorge is wonderful- I came the first time for a standard oil change. My dad is a small business owner so I like to support other small businesses when I can. He explained everything he was doing, service was quick & efficient and he didn't try to scam me into paying for extras (as opposed to JiffyLube). He sent me a personal email 5 months later advertising a promotion for my next oil change which was a helpful reminder. At this time, I was having mechanical issues and he fixed everything. The next time I had battery issues, he confirmed I had a bad cell from my AAA battery, and let me know to call them first since they would have a warranty or he could replace. He let me leave my car at his shop even though AAA ending up coming to replace the battery for free. Trustworthy, efficient & pleasant to work with- I will continue to come for oil changes any other issues (though hoping I won't have any). Thank you!! read more

Jorge is the best!!! Our SUV started blowing smoke on the highway, and we drove it to Jorge. Without doing an official diagnostic, he determined the cause of the breakdown. We had it towed to another mechanic who gave us the runaround, and eventually brought it to Jorge who began working on it. Not even one week later, two of our other vehicles broke down, and we also had those towed to Jorge. He has completed two of the three cars so far, and we couldn't be more satisfied. He was worked with us on pricing, and has been very upfront and honest with all of the steps so far. We have referred two of our friends to him, and with the stories that we've shared they both agree that this is a mechanic who is hard to find--one that will do the work in an honest and fair manner, without trying to make extra money, but get it done because it's the right thing to do.
