Today was my first visit at this place. Like the previous reviewer, I have had too many bad experiences with the local salons. Plus I am looking for a longer alternative so I am willing to pay a little bit more to get gel and the design. The place is small so I recommend make appointments beforehand. My manicurist, Keiko, was super friendly and patiently showed me the designs. This place has pre-made designs but you can always change base color, glitter color, etc. I decided to change one design up with from orange to pink. Keiko was so patient in helping me choose the best combinations between the base and glitter. She also paid much attention on even the small details-I was really impressed! After the manicure was finished, Keiko put on cuticle oil and lotion on my hands. The products used in the salon smelt and felt great. Price wise it is a little expensive but I love the final results. I would definitely come back for a full set and my bridal nails! Update: I just found out that the prices are the same as their stores in Japan. This is very reassuring because I know I am not paying for an inflated price, like I do with a lot of Japanese merchandise. read more

Yup, still loving Hana Nails! Come visit Atsuko for a manicure and you'll never turn back, seriously. She's now moved to Saratoga which is a 30 minute drive for me but I'll gladly drive it just for her impeccable work! I appreciate that she takes her time and doesn't ever rush through a manicure. In fact, you can truly tell that she takes pride in her work. Atsuko never pushes me towards a more expensive design or add-ons and gives me her honest opinion, which I value very much. The process is just as enjoyable as the result because she so carefully manicures my hands that I feel as if I'm in the presence of an artist at work. It never feels like I'm just getting my nails done. It feels like I'm getting an experience as well as a nice take home gift. I sound like a convert. I know. Before Hana Nails, I didn't understand why anyone would pay someone else to do their nails because I never received a manicure I thought was actually worth paying for. But oh how that has changed. Now I'm like alright this is THE epitome of a luxurious manicure. Atsuko takes her time and is gentle. The reoccurring key word here is gentle. Because Atsuko is so gentle that sometimes you might nod off a bit, sometimes you wonder could this gentle manicure actually be effective? But it is! So now I've found that a manicure CAN be worth it. And Hana Nails is worth every single penny. :) - Her existing collection of nail designs is fun to browse through and pick from. But she also allows you to bring in your own design and she'll let you know if it can be done and for how much - Cuticle care ($10) is so worth it. I usually don't let manicurists cut my cuticles but I barely even felt it when Atsuko was cleaning them up! At other nail salons, I'm usually holding my breath because they're going at your cuticles so furiously fast that you're afraid they're going to nip something (and sometimes they do) but never at Atsuko's. She's got the patience of a saint, I tell ya. - Gel Nail Removal ($10 if nails had been previously done at Hana Nails). Uh, I thought I was good at removing gel nails. Aha, nevermind! I've also heard horror stories about gel nail removal at salons. That they're painful and you feel like your nail is on fire. That they soak the hell out of your finger in acetone so it's dry as can be. Again, NOT the case at Hana Nails. She has pre-cut the cotton squares into the small size required to remove your gel nails and no larger so that only what is required to be covered is covered in acetone. Atsuko, you are wonderful. My husband questions how I can be so happy after coming home from having "just" done a manicure but yes, it's true. I am in bliss. read more

I went to Hana Nails to get my gel manicure on my birthday back in August. I love how Atsuko took her time to get my manicure done looking nice and perfect. It's almost 3 weeks since the manicure and it's still good. Even though I have to drive down from South SF over to Campbell, the drive in the morning is okay and not bad. It's located inside the spa but her work station is very clean and neat. Definitely will be back next time. read more

My first time there was a few weeks ago. She has so many different styles and designs i had a hard time choosing what I wanted! They came out beautifully. I was warned by someone else that white colored gel can turn yellow, but Atsuko told me that is probably true in some cases, but her products are high quality and shouldn't, and it hasn't yet! It has, however chipped a bit, but it's probably bc i keep my nails really short for work and she said she needed them to be a little longer next time for it to last longer. finally, a go-to nail salon in the bay! Note: they only do Cal gel nails, not acrylic or regular manicures (but hand and feet care packages do come with base-coat application). I'd say before I found out about this place all my nail salon experiences have been mediocre except for a few bad ones here and there, so I was still in the search of a good nail salon in the area. After some extensive research for Japanese nail salons, I found heavenly nails through google and fb (https://www.facebook.com/heavenlynailssanjose). They also have branches in Tokyo and Kanagawa in Japan, so their customer service and quality of work is highly standardized. I was able to make a same-day appointment for Tuesday, assuming weekdays are probably much slower. The salon itself is located inside Vanity Beauty Salon in a strip mall, so parking was a non-issue. My manicurist was Atsuko, the manager/owner of the salon and the only person working at the time. The location is definitely on the smaller side since they only have 3 manicurists working at the time, but nevertheless everything was clean and sanitary. I had my previous nails removed and chose a $48 design in their A Course selection. All of their designs are available on their website and they can do variations on the color or stickers/rhinestones of each design, which is always nice. For those who are not familiar, their gel nail manicures are priced according to the complexity of designs and are priced $48, $58, $68 (seasonal special designs) and $78 accordingly. They offer gel pedicures as well and they are slightly pricier, but there are also many designs to choose from. The entire process including removal to the finishing hand massage took about an hour and half, and Atsuko was very very meticulous with her work. Maybe it's because I was the only customer at the time, but she took great care of my nails and focused on every little detail from my cuticles to the gel application. I was more than happy with the end result and my total came out to $63. The pricing is pretty standard for the area since all courses include designs, but more importantly the end result was so much better than all of the other salons I've been to. Heavenly nails is officially my go-to place for nails in the Bay! TL;DR Pros: decent pricing, cute designs, easy appointment on weekdays, easy parking, great color selection, service and work Cons: only gel nails are available, freehand/full-on custom designs unavailable (PS. They have a 10% off special for first time customers and $38 glitter gradient special going on right now! It's defs worth trying out!) read more

Honestly for the first time in Bay Area I found someone who is so precise with application. However, the Fuji gel didn't last more than 5 days! It started chipping off from the tips first. Getting my nails done by Atsuko is my monthly treat for working my butt off at work. I used to go to random nail salons that I would find on Yelp so was really happy to find her salon. I love her attention to detail and all of the cute designs. I went to a random nail salon to get a pedicure and they were really impressed with my nails, but shocked at the price - it is really pricey. They offered to do my nails like that for a much lower price, but I would rather spend the money on Atsuko's salon because she REALLY knows what she's doing. I love that I can go in picking a design from the menu instead of thinking of my own design. Worth every cent and minute! If you really want to treat yourself, definitely get your nails done here. I went to Heavenly nails with my sister yesterday and we both can't wait to be back. Several designs to choose from and even more colors to decide on. There are 2 stations- it is appointment only- in the back of Vanity Beauty Salon. Both nail artists are very nice and very talented. The type of gel used for on your natural nail is unique compared to the majority of nail salons (not gel nail polish). When you leave, not only can you not stop looking at your nails, but your nails don't feel that they are being damaged. Definitely will be back. read more

I came here to have my nails done for a wedding that I was in. Not only did my nails look amazing when she did them, they actually stayed perfect for six weeks. SIX WEEKS! I chose a pattern that looked reasonable even as the nail grew out, and I was just amazed at how long they lasted and how good they looked the whole time. Atsuko is a total master at her craft. She takes her time, makes sure that you like everything at every step of the way, and is generally just a really sweet and kind person! I told her that I have started to do simple gel nails at home, and instead of trying to discourage me to get me to come back, she said that I should ask her if I have any questions about the process. I totally will come back to her when I want a fancier design though for sure. She has tons of patterns to choose from on top of her monthly specials, at a variety of price points from about $45 to $75. She can of course do custom designs too, so if you veer too far away from the set patterns that she already has, she may end up charging you per nail/stone/etc. She is really thorough in her removal process as well and got all the gel off with pretty minimal damage to my nail. She charged $65 dollars for the initial application, and because I asked her to file and shape my nails at the time of removal, she charged $28 (otherwise, for just removal, it is $10). Because she is a one woman show, she does get busy, especially on weekends, so make your appointments a couple of weeks in advance! tl;dr Go to Atsuko, you won't regret it! read more
