Great place to stay. The new renovation looks fabulous. Everyone is so friendly and pleasant. Thank you to the person who found my iwatch and turned it into lost and found. You are my hero. I was in the casino and decided to play a slot machine. When trying to sit in the chair my foot caught on the leg of the chair and I fell. Thanks to all who rushed to my rescue. I wish I knew your names so I could thank you. One person stood out. Her name is Carolyn and she is a Security Officer. She is very kind and very supportive. She came over to check on me and to see if I was ok. There was some paperwork to fill out and sign and Carolyn stayed with me and walked me through the whole process. Unfortunately for me I hit my head when I fell so i had to be checked over by two very handsome EMTs. Carolyn was with me the whole time. Carolyn is a wonderful person to have at your side in any situation. She continued to check up on the rest of the day. Thank you Carolyn your are wonderful! I'm checking out today, with a great location, plenty of parking, and easy to navigate around the hotel. Feels like a smaller version of GSR. Wish their buffet wasn't closed. The reviews and food looked amazing. Beds: really comfortable Pillows: really comfortable and good firmness Sheets: Not enough. Just 2 thin bed sheets and 1 thin fleece sheet. I would've slept better with thicker sheets (for the comfort) Bathroom: clean, bright, great lighting for makeup, lots of towels, etc Kitchenette: good sizes fridge, microwave worked well. Does not come with any kitchen supplies. Tv: nice big screen, just the right cable channels to watch basic TV shows, kids' shows, etc. Room temperature: The thermostat/heating system worked great, so I didn't feel cold. When I felt hot, turning it down cooled the room quickly, too. Sound proofing: not very good, especially if you have loud neighboring rooms. On my 3rd night, there was a party room above me they were partying from 8pm-4 or 5am. Blasting music and talking loudly. I attached a video of the sound video. I didn't bother to complain, I figure they're having fun, don't wanna ruin it. Plus, I don't sleep until 3am any way. I also heard through the walls someone throwing up on the 4th night. Housekeeping: I didn't use them, I left a bag of garbage on the 3rd morning, and they picked it up. But they were very friendly when they knocked. Food options: I didn't try this time, and I will try next time if I stay again. Front desk check in: I won't write her name but it started with an M, she checked me in, this is where the service gets docked off points. I personally don't care if someone is not showing emotion or giving a prudish behavior, but if you work in the hospitality industry, especially a resort type like J Resort, hospitality should be trained in all floor members, ESPECIALLY the front desk. Although I don't personally care, I have dealt with rude people my entire life (I work in the Restaurant/bar industry for almost 20 years) M gave off a snobbish attitude and I know it probably doesn't feel welcoming to people who check in. I don't even think she smiled once. Didn't seem like she enjoyed working here. I don't like writing about things like this, but J Resort has done a beautiful job with the resort, and I know these things should be addressed because it's also the reputation of the resort too. Maybe the manager in me is coming out, and I wouldn't like an employee behaving that way. Or the fact I am passionate about this industry and I hate seeing people act that way with guests, but I'm just being real with the experience. Besides that I would stay again, it was comfortable. but I do prefer GSR because there's more to do at GSR. read more

Host Alex, (we love her!) our casino host, is so great at keeping us informed on the concerts, promotions and general fun things The J always seems to have going on! First time staying here and this resort is supper clean the room was so clean and smell good the restroom the same clean and the staff is great called the engineer at 1am because the AC kept turning off and he got here in like 2 mins and he fixed it for us and slept good I just wish they had more parking available in the parking garage they only have 2floors and it only parks like 30 cars you need to find parking outside the hotel and make a walk inside and to the elevator But it was a great 3 nights stay here I really recommend read more

Third day here, yet to see housekeeping, come into this room. The restaurants have very limited offerings and the food they do offer leaves a lot to be desired not all of it is edible. Limited bar seating if you wanna relax, have a cocktail and play some video machines I was really looking forward to seeing the changes they had made after taking over from when this was the San hotel. Absolutely worst experience. Reno/Tahoe is our second home and we typically stay at Silver Legacy, GSR or Peppermill. We decided on a last minute weekend getaway and decided to try the newly renovated J Resort. We were exploring the hotel and grounds since it was our first time here. We came across an empty conference room and I saw a pile of free pens on the table so I grabbed one. Next thing we know two security guards come flying up on us demanding our identification and insisted I empty my purse. They made such a big deal like we were criminals that I had no idea all this fuss was over the free pen I grabbed and put in my purse. My boyfriend told them they needed to calm down and he informed them he was a police officer. Ms. Dudley was talking down to him saying I doubt you're a police officer. He should've just handed his police ID and shut her up but we just know we are NEVER EVER STAYING HERE AGAIN!! read more

This place is garbage. The slots suck and the service sucks even worse. Their machines don't even read the tickets that their other machines print out. You have to go to the ticket redemption EVERY TIME you want to cash out. When I asked the floor manager about it, I was looked at and ignored. I went to the cage and they said "that's just how it is" really? Ok- The slots are sparse and the tables were mostly closed except ONE dealer on the floor for blackjack. On Memorial Day! I'm the mom in a family of 4 with two little kids and we had a great experience at the J due to the many wonderful staff. Shoutout to Heather at the front desk who helped us relocate to a new room after a bizarre noise issue on night one (due to a guest on the floor above us). On night two, I received top notch service from Brittany at Hanna's, who took my to-go order while i waited at the bar (gotta feed the kids upstairs)! Food was super good too! I went to the j for street vibrations, they put the bikes on a very dimly street that was totally unsafe for folk to walk and a total diss to the bikes and riders. Then I went there for the zombie crawl and it was horrible! They had a Latina working the bar who was rude and disrespectful of not only her customers but she totally berated her white barback Like he was a dog! She got irate when I gave him a tip equal to the one I gave her and she started berating me. All the bartenders are of questionable legal status and are extremely rude! The only thing js has going for them is their live music. The food sucks and is way overpriced. The machines are tighter than dicks hatband and their staff are untrained, inefficient, and plain ass rude. I would suggest any other casino than js or cal Nevada! THEY are both of the same caliber. i'm absolutely disgusted with your "New" J Resort facility in Reno, Nevada. I arrived on Saturday Evening 29JUL23 to play craps as you have the All Tall, All Small, Make them All. Upon buying in, I was told that this feature is no longer offered and that it will be removed from the table, first disappointment. I then had someone from security named Madeline, and she proceeded to tell me that I can't have a backpack on the casino floor. I've visited J Resort multiple times with my Purse without incident (NOT A BACKPACK). This time I was on the craps table in the middle of betting and was asked to take "MY BACKPACK" to my car or to my room. I let the security guard know that it was a purse and not a backpack. The guard was rude and apparently after speaking to management did not follow protocol. I was told that the concern was a firearm in the purse but I was never asked anything. The pit boss took my purse into the pit to help resolve the issue. This behavior is unacceptable. I will never return to the J Resort in Reno after being treated this way. It appears that certain individuals such as myself, a melanated woman have been singled out in your new J Resort as someone who's suspicious and needed to be singled out at the table in front of multiple people, embarrassed, and ultimately it resulted in lost money due to her distracting me in the middle of a game. I would expect much more from your security personnel and from the club overall. This may also be the reason why on a Saturday night your facility was not crowded and the table was completely empty when I arrived. Additionally, there were many other patrons that were walking through the casino floor with backpacks and none of them were stopped or asked to take their backpack (ACTUAL BACKPACKS) back to their car or to their room. I will not recommend any of my local and out of town friends and family to visit or stay at J Resort. Additionally to top things off, a couple in front of me was making a complaint about stolen phone chargers, and stolen cell phones from within their rooms. Based on this and my experience, I will not recommend this facility to anyone that I know. Please do better! read more

Stayed here over the weekend and were very pleased. The rooms were a good size and clean and the staff at the hotel are very nice. Had dinner at Hannah's that's inside the resort, the food was very good but the service not so much. Went back for breakfast and again the food was very good but they are very shorthanded. I know there's more kinks to be worked out since it's a fairly new resort which is why I didn't give and 5 star review but once they get the staffing shortage worked out I think the place is going to awesome. Highly recommend the resort in general but if your eating at Hannah's you need to bring your patience with you. read more

We received a flyer in the mail for a free drink at the new afterglow lounge, and some other promotions. We took the flyer to guest services as instructed, and they issued each of us a new resort card. We asked if any other coupons were needed, and they said no just take the flyer to the afterglow. The bartender at afterglow "lounge" had an attitude. It is not actually a lounge, but a rectangle casino bar with some tables and couches on the outside. When I asked for a wine list, the bartender shot back stating that the only wine they offer is barefoot. Although there were only three people at a bar that seats probably 35, the bartender said she does not come out to the tables to take drink orders, and there is no waitress. When I showed her the flyer and tried to order our drinks, she said we needed to go to guest services. I told her we had already been there and did not intend to go back. She refused to honor the flyer, and we left. Although the place looks new and fresh, we won't be back. For a place it's trying to attract locals with mailers, a very poor job by one of their staff members who was rude and non-accommodating. read more

My mother and I had a hell of a time driving from the Bay Area to Reno. We got to Reno we were so tired and had just drive through a snow storm. We called the J Resort to book a comped room and the reservation lady was not helpful. So we decided to just go in and talk to the front desk. We got to the cashiers cage and spoke with Alma and she was so helpful and was so pleasant. We then went to the front desk and Vince and Grace were greeted us with smiles and such a wonderful attitude. They helped us with the reservation and had a great sense of humor it made the world of difference to us!!! I stayed at the J resort Monday July 3 to Friday July 7, 2023. I'm 64 and disabled. First the reservation department kept getting my reservation wrong and booking me in a normal room! After several phone calls they finally got it right and I was booked for a disability room. Here's the really bad disgusting part, my neck and upper back was itching on my second night. I looked in the mirror the next morning and noticed two small sores on my neck and two on my upper back. I showered and left for the day. My last night I found out why, again I was feeling this itching and pulling the white sheets down. There were bed bugs on the sheets!!!! The next morning when I was leaving I complained to the management, and all they did for me was not charge me for my final night!!!!!! The hotel has had a great remodel. There was nothing special about the hotel, though. No attraction that makes it a place you need to go to. The rooms were nice but I don't think it's worth spending the extra money for. We also had to call security twice at 5 am. The couple in the room next to us were screaming at the top of their lungs. Security came the first time, and they stayed settled for about 10 minutes. Then the screaming started all over with the man threatening the woman. This place is awful. The new upgrade means nothing. This is still the dirty old Sands with blue lights. Rooms appear to be correctly priced online but then they hit you with a resort fee higher than the room cost. Resort? How is this a resort? This is a motel 6 at best. No valet for guests. No bell service .No room service. No spa. No pool access. There is nothing but bums, literal homeless zombies walking around inside and outside the property. Explain how or why there's a "resort fee"? GSR and Atlantis have a resort fee which gets you pool/hot tub access, valet services, bell service, security , room service etc... Basically any actual reason to charge a resort fee is not available here. This is a huge rip off and a complete disappointment in every single way. I was starving my only option was to leave property or rush to the dinner which closes early and got a $25 bowl of plain rusty lettuce and terribly sweet Caesar salad dressing. The pretzel bites were ok but the cheese "sauce" was chalky and not edible. I had high hopes that they upgraded this place but it's probably worse than the Sands because they're charging you more for no reason. At least you could eat when it was the Sands. It's not ethical to charge a resort fee when you're not running a resort, this is a motel under construction. They should wave the resort fee until it's an actual resort. Maybe when they become an actual resort property I'll give it another shot but for now I'm highly jaded by my $100 a night stay in a crappy motel. Sorry $183 since they pulled a deposit out as well - it's so seedy here I'm shocked they don't charge by the hour. read more

Place has beautiful rooms but wth TV worked all of 20 mins then died. We then moved to another room. The ac sounds like a chainsaw.. I don't want to move again. We stayed her for a bowling tourney.
