My husband and I had dinner then attended the Dueling Pianos on Friday night . It wasn't too crowded when we got there at 6 pm. I ordered The Porker Sandwich with pulled pork, bourbon sauce, coleslaw and pickles, It was very good. It would have been even better if they had added more coleslaw. My husband ordered the wedge salad. He said it was very good with a good amount of bacon on it. After dinner to went to the outside patio to our assigned table for the Dueling Pianos. We listened to them for a couple hours. We thought they were ok, won't see them again. When we have seen Dueling Pianos elsewhere, they sing and play the songs handed to them by people and tell jokes. There were no jokes and one guy at times wasn't in tune with some of the songs. They have a short list of appetizers and entrees that are perfectly pared with their alcoholic offerings! Very lively place with mystic on a Saturday night! A wonderful find in Redlands. Nestled in an interesting area called the "Packing District" just south of the 10 freeway, this is the best place to be on a 60-70 degree overcast day. The food is a bit pricey but it was very good with ample portions. We had variations of their burgers and that was good. A side salad helped me feel a bit more responsible as their fries were really good and they served us the best deep fried mushrooms I've had in a couple of decades - admittedly, I've been out of bars that served bar food mushrooms but these were good. The drinks were generally good but my date was offered the choice of house liquor vs a national brand regretted her choice of the house brand for an Old Fashioned. She chose a completely different style of drink vs saying "same drink but upgrade my alcohol ". I had no issue with my gin and vodka-based drinks. If you're in the area and it's a cool day, I would stop in. Everybody on staff seemed helpful and approachable. The distillery tours should be enjoyable too. I emphasize cooler days because they have an airplane propeller sized fan to use on warm days, so it must get warm! 4 stars because they play country music all the time, lol! read more

I asked for salt, pepper and some hot sauce which I never received. The pickles on the sandwich tasted homemade and were outstanding as were the onion rings that I substituted for fries. I ordered a raspberry and lemon Cosmo-type of cocktail that was also delicious. I had a birthday coupon for a free dessert, so I ordered a berry cobbler with a sliced almond topping that was very good. The only downside to the experience was the lackluster service from this young man who was only there to hand out food and not make any special effort to check on customers or fulfill requests. I've been here twice now but the first time I didn't write a review. This place has a cool atmosphere, friendly staff, and live music. Drinks have strong pours and a lot of different options of drinks. The spicy margarita is DELICIOUS. I ordered the loaded fries for an appetizer because they're delicious with chunks of roasted garlic cloves and pieces of pepper adding a delightful amount of spice. The chicken sandwich, I wasn't impressed and it's chicken thigh meat not breast, which I'm not a fan of. It wasn't really spicy and overall kind of lacking in flavor in my opinion. 1/26/24, 945PM. Hostess (tall, young, blonde) approached us with a very rude demeanor...She stared at us for about 10 seconds not breaking eye contact with me, making me feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. Finally, she proceeded to ask me with attitude "HOW MANY". She said it in such a sarcastic tone and even shook her head at me. I looked at her and said "you know what, never mind". Even when I confronted her on being rude, she was not apologetic one bit and continued with the attitude. We were a party of just three...we waited up front for a little while but weren't complaining for one second, I even smiled when she started to approach us and did not want to interrupt, so I was just waiting for her to greet us as any other hostess would at any other restaurant. But she was FAR from welcoming and made us feel like an inconvenience. I'm very saddened by this experience and thought you should be aware of this as it's been a trend in the review section. I have never once experienced this here or ever in my life so I hope further training and education is provided to this young employee. When our food was brought out she stood at the corner of the table called out what we ordered and just looked at us, we were quite confused therefore we eventually reached precariously across the table to retrieve our plates, risking burning ourselves. We understand customer service and satisfaction can sometimes take the toll on us however considering there was very few parties at the time we were there, we come to wonder how Marisa manages herself when the restaurant has a fuller house. This is a great place for an after work gathering with girlfriends. Since this was the context of my visit, I can only comment on the cocktails and appetizers. I called at 5pm for reservations at 730pm (party of six) on Friday night. Albeit the seating was outdoors, we were accomadated. There was a ceiling heater and it kept us warm enough. We acrually managed to remain untill closing time and stayed warm enough (mind you it's been brisk in Cali lately). The cocktail menu was generous and I sampled the Spicy Cucumber Margarita. It did have a kick, but it was good. I enjoyed the tunavacodo which was decent. The other members of our party enjoyed the hot chicken sandwich, and they said it was tasty and indeed spicy. It was our first time checking this place out. All of us went out to Celebrate friend's birthday dinner at this location. We came here without our kids and it was so much fun. I came here with the wife and kids for a simple dinner and some drinks. We parked across the street and walked in through the corner of Eureka and Oriental Avenue. This entrance was a little confusing as you walk-in through the back of the facility. For someone who is new to the place, it can get pretty confusing. My first thought was, "oh, you sit yourself." Quickly we figured out we were on the wrong side. We walked across the restaurant (to the front) to find the hostess. Our waitress for the afternoon was Amelia and she did a wonderful job. She explained the different drinks to us and also recommended a couple. I ordered the "Black Irish Mule." This drink had a nice flavor of berries to it, with a taste of whiskey. It was very refreshing for a hot summer afternoon. The second drink I ordered was much stronger than the first. The "Outdoorsman" is black pepper infused 1775 whiskey, with honey-Thyme syrup, cardamom & house aromatic blend bitters. The best part of the drink is the outdoor smell!!! The waiter comes over, puts a top over the drink, and smokes the drink. It's quite a seen and it gives the whiskey a smoky taste. For appetizer we ordered the elote capeado. It's tempura sweet corn, cotija cheese, chipotle Mayo and cilantro. It did not disappoint!!! I had never tasted anything like it. It was a very unique way to prepare corn. Finally, for the main dish I ordered "The Porker." It's a sandwich with drenched house bourbon BBQ pulled pork. It was decent, but I was expecting more flavor out of it. JR distillery gave my family and I a warm welcome. Micha was PHENOMENAL. Her manager and coworker Danni nasty and ghetto! Ordered dessert in a bottle. Got dessert in a cup for 10 dollars and 4.5 oz with weight of container . Pictures showing the order. They offered to refund the card with a nasty attitude. I refused a refund because I needed proof of the order and wanted the proceeds to go to the charity event of the day. The portion is not 6 or 8 oz nor is in a bottle to go. Danni was nasty and rude and let me know i was never welcome to come back .. So I definitely won't be. The good thing about this experience is that a woman who witnessed everything came and hugged for standing up for the horrible service I received. Sooo...everyone knows that Redlands has become a "mini-mecca" for Craft Breweries. It has 4 great ones to choose from. But did you know that its also the home to a fantastic craft distillery??? Well, if you live in the area; you probably did! But if you didn't... or if you don't know how great this place is; this Yelp's for you!! J Riley (named after its owner, Jason Riley) is a unique craft distillery and distillery located in downtown Redlands. It's located across the Sprouts plaza on one side and across the Look Movie Theater on the other. This is actually their 2nd location; as they used to be in the same plaza as the Escape Craft Brewery's Nevada St. location. They moved to this location a couple of years ago when Escape opened its new location about 100 yards away. The location itself is spacious and airy; and has a unique feature where the "window walls" (that is the best way to put it) open up to allow lots of ambient light and fresh air inside. The result of this is an interesting indoor/outdoor flow that's particularly enjoyable during the mild Spring and Fall months we have out here. There is a large U-shaped bar that dominates the west-most portion of the building as you walk in; with ample low table/high bistro seating options throughout the rest of the location. They even have outdoor seating available and a "sunken" area just outside for larger events, bands, etc. Their primary offers are, of course, their spirits. They produce their own line of bourbons, whiskeys, vodkas, and rums. Not only that, feature these spirits in a variety of what they call "rocktails". What I like about these is that their menu categorizes their signature cocktail offerings based on what spirits are featured in them. This is very handy; especially for people who are kinda new to mixed drinks (hey... ya gotta start somewhere, right?). My personal favorites are their Old Fashioneds, Moscow Mules, and Dark and Stormys. Their spirits themselves are well-balanced and delicious, and are also available for purchase to take home and add to your liquor cabinet at home. Personal Suggestion - when Autumn rolls around, try their "Fall Spiced Old Fashioned". It will change your life! Also, for those not into the harder drinks, they offer a variety of local craft brews on tap. To complement all of their fantastic drinks is their food. They have a variety of what I like to call "pub grub on steroids". Burgers, sandwiches, small plates, and the like. One of our faves is their pretzel. Even though this is listed as an appetizer; let me tell you.. you could make a meal of it. It's a HUGE Bavarian Pretzel served with a bratwurst and beer cheese. Easily sharable and so delicious! All of the food we've ordered has been very yummy; and let me tell you, the kitchen is FAST. Every time we've been here our orders have been ready and served hot before we were done with our first drinks! The wait staff and bartenders have always been super friendly and helpful as well; and always willing to make suggestions about tasty libations and/or food pairings. My fave employee here is a gal named Cheyenne. She's always been willing to spend extra time with me and the family when we're here, visiting and catching up and answering our questions. As for the prices. You're going to spend a little here. It's not cheap, but I wouldn't say its overly pricey either. You're paying for quality and atmosphere here. The only only only complaint I have is their parking lot. They share a parking lot with Escape Craft Brewery. Parking here can be a CHALLENGE at best.. especially in the evenings and/or on the weekends. Also, there are only TWO handicapped spots. One in front of J Riley and another in front of Escape; so that's an issue too (my wife and mom both have handicapped placards). I certainly don't blame J. Riley at all. Whoever designed and planned out the parking lot for them and Escape did not think things through very well. However, there is a spillover parking lot just across the street on Oriental Ave. that offers some relief. J Rileys is the perfect place for you and friends or family to come when you're in the mood to explore some tasty and unique takes on familiar cocktails, as well as to enjoy some good food to go with it. We've been coming here since this location opened a couple of years ago on my birthday, and they have yet to ever disappoint! read more
