I went to this place with my parents for lunch and it was honestly a great experience! The customer service was wonderful! Food came out all at once and in a reasonable time. If your wondering about cost/quantity I would say it is affordable for the quantity and quality. The tempura batter they use is very light and doesn't leave a greasy after taste/feeling. As for the sushi, I have to say it may be smaller than you think but, again, the quality is noticeable. They do not purposely fill it with a bunch of rice which is great! If you are reading this I would recommend supporting the business because for a Saturday at peak lunchtime there was nobody there!! I would definitely go again soon! P.S. I'm pretty loyal to my other sushi spot but the drive to Lomita from Carson just isn't happening with these gas prices. We've tried other sushi spots and nothing really compared to the quality of sushi delight.... Till we found J sushi. We ordered a large order to go and everything was awesome! Customer service was great over the phone. While ordering I asked if they do the sauce on top or on the side for to go orders. He said on the side and he insisted it be on the side because it'll make the sushi soggy. I understood his point but I've also ordered it on the side before (different sushi spot) and the sushi was so dry I almost cried. And I've also had it to-go with the sauce on top and it was never an issue for me. After going back and forth about it they finally allowed me to have it on top and let me say, Thank you!! It was not soggy, not all wet, the quality was still there and to ME it tasted amazing!! I appreciate him wanting to keep the quality good when it's to-go but the sauce on top was nothing short of fire! Every roll was super good. Our fav was the iron monkey roll and the garlic edamame. Both are amazing!! Anywho I love supporting businesses in carson. J sushi is up there with good quality sushi. I believe we found our new sushi spot and we will be back again forsure!! read more

Went here for lunch with my hubby.. Was greeted &felt welcomed the whole time with awesome service. My hubby&I bought got the lunch chicken teriyaki bowl with an order of their crispy spicy tuna. I would say that the only downside is that the items can be pricey, but, to be fair, they do have specials you can take advantage of. I was very suspicious of this place when it opened. The inside is very nice and clean, the staff are all friendly, but the prices seemed kinda high for a sushi spot in a mediocre plaza. I live less than a mile away and decided to give them a try because I wanted sushi and was too lazy to drive far. I wasn't expecting much, but boy, was I wrong to ever be suspicious. I ordered online, and it was ready in about 20 mins. Ordered 5 rolls and 2 hand rolls, came out to a little over $60. The presentation, flavor, and quality of these were amazing! Exceeded my expectations. You can really tell that these guys put a lot of effort into each roll. I'd definitely return to this spot for decently priced fresh sushi. This spot has an ongoing special until July 31st for daily special rolls that are basically half off. Don't expect a whole bunch of sashimi on top of the roll if you order the special but they still taste great regardless. I ordered a golden dragon roll (daily special) salmon and scallop nigiri. Everything was great except the scallop was cooked, which isn't usually an issue but it was a little over cooked and wasn't was i was expecting since I usually get raw scallop on nigiris. Great sushi that won't break the bank. Lot of different options from the usual cold rolls to all the different kinds of cooked rolls with many ingredients and toppings, took me awhile to decide what to get. Have to compliment the vegetable tempura it was crispy and tastier than at other spots and 11 pieces for $9 definitely worth it. Protip: the restaurant isn't that big so try to get in before the lunch/dinner rush. Sooo this place is usually pretty good, food comes out in a timely manner, service is good..BUT yesterday, 3.11.24, we sat down at 1140ish and ordered, we got our waters about 10 mins after that..and then 20 mins after that we got our food, by thiis time, I asked the waitreaa if ahe can box up our food cause we ran out of time..she proceeds to serve us the food but also boxes. Meanwhile, we are watching the cooks prep all the to-go orders and not really working on ours till they get those out of the way. It was very disappointing because the service and food is always stellar, but this day, 3.11, food was terrible and service was completely lacking. We come to Cali every summer and try different sushi spots, this has been by far the best tasting, quality, and bang for your buck. $7 daily special Red Dragon Roll, AMAZING. Id have gotten 3 if my stomach allowed it. Hubby got the very filling bento box, we also got the Golden Dragon Roll, Rainbox on Cali Roll, and the Hotdog something roll (fried cali roll cut in half topped with crab mix, sauces). All were so so good! Food came out quickly and our servers were amazing. Many people were coming in and out for to go orders, I hope everyone learns about this place ASAP. I'd make the drive anyday. Did I mention the prices are amazing ? $11 rainbow roll, YES PLEASE. The variety of cooked rolls was awesome for those not into raw fish, the spicy tuna was some of the best I've had. So I have to say that the service and ambiance of J Sushi was amazing! The staff is very kind and friendly, and the decorations and work they put into the restaurant is very calming and zen. I was a huge lover of SushiEn, and was excited to see that a new sushi joint was taking its place since I like to eat close to home, especially during the work week. However, I ordered two sushi rolls and mixed tempura to-go yesterday for my lunch, and since I ate the food my stomach has been extremely upset and I've also been nauseated. The sushi was very salty and the shrimp tempura tasted undercooked. My stomach has been cramping and I've been unable to eat since yesterday. I know it wasn't something else I ate since the only thing I ate before my lunch was a cup of coffee at the start of my work day. Maybe it's because the restaurant is new with new staff that they haven't found their groove? I'm not sure. But after the pain and discomfort I have felt I don't think I will go back unless I see a lot of positive reviews over the course of time from other Yelpers. Hopefully one day I can update this review to something more positive. read more
