We had truffle fries for an appetizer, the mussel skillet and the wild Alaskan salmon. Truffle fries lived up to the hype as a friend suggested this appetizer. The garlic aioli was phenomenal! Mussels were perfectly cooked and the broth was great! However, the salmon was the best salmon I've had in years, perfectly cooked and delicious! Went in on a Thursday night for happy hour with a friend of mine. We go there once or twice a week. Was really enjoying myself until they set a lady 2 feet away from me. I called the owner to talk to her about it because of the state guidelines and she did not care. She said that the lady was comfortable with it and if I'm not comfortable with it she can move me to a different table. Definitely not following state guidelines. Why should I have to move when I was there first. I own a daycare I do not want somebody that I don't know sitting 2 feet away from me in public. Then I get sick in my whole daycare get sick. So I came here on Saturday for brunch and I absolutely LOVED IT! We made reservations for the patio and I'm so glad we did. The weather was perfect, and the patio was so cute and inviting! They had granite/marble dining tables, and so many cute little touches to complete the modern aesthetic. As if things couldn't get better, they had a DJ playing a mix of 90's classics and current hits!! The music selection was ALL THE WAY ON POINT!! Sidenote: COVID Safety precautions are definitely being taken here. All staff members were wearing masks and tables were pretty nicely spaced, and you could see them doing heavy sanitizing in between patrons. I loved to see all of this! Now onto the food: I ordered the sweet chili fried chicken sandwich, which is a fried chicken sandwich with coleslaw, lettuce, tomato, white cheddar, and sweet chili sauce. I got mine without coleslaw and with the sweet chili sauce on the side. The sandwich was absolutely delicious! The bun was soft and buttery and chicken was super well-seasoned. The sweet chili sauce was super sweet and had a great spice to it. Seeing as I don't like my meat being drenched in sweet sauces, I'm VERY glad that I got it on the side, so I could dip the sandwich in it without being overwhelmed by the sweetness. I also opted for fries instead of the breakfast potatoes and I was thrilled with that choice as well. The fries were crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and perfectly salted!! Oh and before I forget, we need to talk about these mimosas. First of all, they were four dollars, second, they are STRONGGGG, what more could you ask for?? So yeah, long story short, J. I'm sorry we didn't get pictures to share,but it was so good we just dove in and enjoyed it. The food was really good! We started with the lobster in a jar, and it was fantastic. Warm lobster in butter over garlic bread! I had skillet mussels and my wife had shrimp Diablo. The tomato based mussels were loaded with flavor and the shrimp Diablo was off the hook. My new favorite restaurant! We loved the atmosphere inside. They had air coolers on the cute patio if we had wanted to sit there, but we chose the long booth in the bar area. It was difficult to choose a craft cocktail because there were so many choices. I had the "Smoke Show" which was so tasty! I can highly recommend the Heirloom Tomato Burrata appetizer and the Grilled Chicken Penne Pesto Pasta. They have an amazing selection of desserts. This place is soooo awesome! From the ambiance to the food, everything is perfect. Outside they had live music, where a guy sang beautifully. They are dedicated to their customer's comfort. They had heat lamps, a fire place and each table had a blanket. The set up was so beautiful. The tree in the middle of the courtyard was draped in yellow lights and there were then inside there was a DJ playing dance music, getting people out of their seats and moving. There was a hidden speak easy room that I didn't get a chance to explore. Came here with a friend at 5pm in a Thursday. Our server was in the weeds (running around like a chicken w/o a head. Given that, service was a bit slow, but super accommodating. Very sweet gentleman. My difficult friend sent her drink back twice and he was still very polite and genial. Based of that I'll conclude that the happy hour drinks were mediocre (she tried three only to send 2 back and complain about the other) My pisco sour was perfection. Please, try it. The moment you open the door on a Sunday morning you are pelted with very LOUD disco music. Even the tables in their so called board room will be assaulted by the obnoxiously loud music. Then you'll be served by people who seem to want to be anywhere else and doing anything other than giving good service to you. Peruse the menu where you will find very high prices that are in complete conflict with the poor service and the obscenely loud music. But wait, there's more. You'll be served coffee that is Luke warm and cools off faster than a fat kid eats cake. And then there's the food. Overpriced food. Food That is not bad - but mediocre at best and not worthy of the premium prices they charge. All served with a snarl or a blank look. If you can choose between the McDonald's drive thru and J Theodore, stay in the car and get an egg McMuffin - you'll thank me later. read more

The only criticism I could have is the corn was such a small portion it felt more ornamental than side. I'll lump the drinks in here too. Another place where they expanded the pallet without losing its base. The table had fruity drinks that kept other tables in awe. If you want both a presentation and flavorful classic, you have to go with their signature Old Fashioned. Atmosphere. It's easy to appreciate how much thought went into this restaurant. When the shrimp came to the table, it looked like they bought it from behind the Kroger counter in the meat department. And for $25 I expected it to look and taste like the Capital Grille. The charcuterie board was okay- lots of fillers of jams,mustards, and fruit- not much cheese and meat. Then we ordered the chicken penne pasta entree, and within 2 minutes (literally) the server brought it to the table. What a delight to see a neighborhood spot revamped into a bistro we will want to visit regularly. The look and feel has been refreshed - the menu has so many unique and yummy looking items, we will happily spend some quality time trying them. For our anniversary lunch my hubby and I started with the pink French cocktail and a glass of The Illusion, both a nice start to pair with namesake J Theodore Board; beautifully arranged board of meat and cheese along with honey, nuts and jam. If you're looking for a good atmosphere to grab some drinks and apps, this is your place. The look and feel of the restaurant is cozy and inviting. However, the reason I give this a low rating is because it took 35 minutes to get our drinks both times we had ordered. I understand a backed up bar but it seemed as though our waitress kept forgetting about us. My second drink was watery and was as if it had been sitting on the bar for a while. The burrata appetizer was fantastic and we had high expectations for our food after that, but the food was dry and overall not great. We both took over half our meals to go and ended up throwing the left overs out because it just wasn't good or worth it. We sat on the patio and while I know it was not the restaurants fault necessarily (we were outside and I was not shocked by this nor blame them) there was a mouse running around under tables and on peoples feet. Again, I understand we were seated out doors but when I overheard guests asking them to do something the waiter just said the mouse was cute. The rest of the night those guests screamed every time it ran in the patio. Overall, the experience was not great and we will not be returning.
