Brunch @jtheodorefrisco was really a feast for the eyes and taste buds. The decor was lovely. I enjoyed all the unique artwork on the walls, the cool light fixtures, navy ceiling, cool bar and styling throughout. The bench that we sat at was large and roomy. I ordered the migas omelette that had chorizo, jalapenos and was served with fruit. It was spicy but not overwhelming with a really nice flavor, the fruit was a nice variety and was very fresh. My friend had the California bowl served with home fries. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. They had $4 mimosas and we tried a pineapple and mango and also a watermelon variety, I definitely was leaning more towards the pineapple and mango, was really tasty! They played fun music that wasn't too loud so we could still comfortably talk. Our server was friendly and accommodating and gave us plenty of time to chat and relax and not feel rushed. There was nice outdoor seating as well with an outdoor fireplace that I could definitely envision spending some time next to in the coming cooler months. Been here twice, both during non peak hours, around linner. Not really busy at all and was seated promptly with a choice of outside or inside. We opted for inside as the ambiance is really nice and has character. I would like to go back at night for the courtyard and I THINK there may be a speakeasy to explore... Waitstaff was very attentive and took the time to walk me through my cocktail questions. The cocktail list was extensive and happened to be there for happy hour. I opted for 2 specialty cocktails (not subject to happy hour) and a glass of house Prosseco . The house Prosseco was just that.. not wonderful. For cocktails, I got the aviator and another one with elderflower and grapefruit subbed vodka for gin. Both cocktails were well crafted which I appreciated. I wish they came in classic martini glasses however they came martini glasses to match the aesthetic. I ordered the seared scallops which were pretty good. It comes with risotto. Not a big fan of risotto in general but the flavor was nice and savory. Ordered a side of fries and requested the garlic aioli, highly recommend! It was my birthday and was offered a dessert. Went with the carrot cake and wow!! I'm a carrot cake frosting snob, and that was quality cream cheese frosting. The cake itself had a great texture and the right amount of "stuff" that's typically found in carrot cake. I wouldn't have guessed their dessert would've been that good!! First time I was there I had the steak salad with a solid amount of steak and modified the heck out of. I appreciated the accommodation for sure. Shared an espresso martini that was delicious. It wasn't super creamy, to allow a nice balance for the espresso to shine. I hate when espresso martinis are so heavy with the creamy/dairy texture they end up being way to sweet and this was not that! Would absolutely go back to check out happy hour and other cocktails. Interesting experience on Easter Sunday. We started off with a few cocktails which had to be sent back...essentially way too much sparkling water and less flavor. Considering the expense $15 a drink, disappointed beyond belief. The mussels were the highlight of the day. Absolutely delicious and prepared to perfection. We were also disappointed in the selection offered for brunch. Far too many "egg" dishes offered. Our family had dinner on 08/18/2022 and were seated in the patio. The restaurant was fairly busy. All the tables had patrons but for a few where it was still wet from the rain. We were lead to one of those wet areas and I politely requested for a dry area near the patio door. The hostess accommodated. My biggest complaint would be the service. Our server was short and rude. I understand that she was busy. Since COVID, that's to be expected. When I asked her whether a certain cocktail was sweet, she said that she did not know and that she was not a bartender. I've never had a server say that. All the servers that had before would've said, "Let me find out." She was not a new server. Also, I asked her if they had fresh grapefruit juice for their cocktails. She said that they do not. I was quite shocked. I asked if she could check, because if you guys advertise as a Craft Cocktail place, then you would have fresh fruit juices. Specifically, on its website "delicious hand-juiced cocktails." At any rate, I told her to give me a few minutes. I didn't know what I wanted to drink at that point. Later on when she brought out our food, she stated flatly, "we do have grapefruit juice." The shrimp flatbread was not good. The shrimps were cut in half. There were approximately five half shrimps on the flatbread. For $21?!?!? The sauce was very heavy and the bread was stale. I am a carb lover. I would've eaten the bread alone and removed the topping. However, the bread was so stale, I didn't eat it. The mussels were a joke. They were super tiny from being over cooked. You can see in the pictures. These were definitely the worst mussels I've ever had. I did not complain. I did not eat them. I just wanted to leave. Everything was terrible. I would never go back. For being an upscale place, we weren't really impressed. My husband ordered the scallops and they had a fishy taste to them so clearly they weren't very fresh. I had the mussels and they were just ok. Not a lot of flavor. My son had a burger and it was good and my other son had a steak which was also ok. We liked the ahi tuna appetizer a lot. The water isn't filtered so it tastes like dirt. This place is sliding downhill fast. With all of the other choice's in Frisco it will be a miracle if they make it. First of all, they are insanely over priced for the overall food, atmosphere etc. The food has become absolutely awful. I'm not sure if they are trying to cut corners or what. My husband and I split a margarita pizza. I honestly thought we'd been given cheese bread by accident. There was no red sauce, no tomatoes and maybe one leaf of basil. The rest was just cheese. The flatbread itself was undercooked and inedible. For 20+ dollars I could've had so many other great meals at better restaurants. It wasn't very busy at all on a Saturday night so I presume others are seeing the same thing I saw. It's a shame because I used to love this restaurant-- especially when it was Bonnie Ruth's. My friend and I have been wanting to try this spot for a while after running across it on Instagram. I finally tried it this morning and it was cool. I got there around 10 am (brunch) so no live music was playing yet. The restaurant is so cute (I love welcoming decor) with lots of art. The booths are huge so sitting large parties would not be an issue. I ordered coffee, which was great! For food, I ordered the caramel French toast with breakfast potatoes and fruit. The dish comes with your choice of sausage or bacon and a side but due to me not eating pork I chose the mentioned sides. After eating, we noticed a nice variety of music playing and realized a live DJ was in the building! Very nice touch! So instead of leaving right away, we decided to have another mug of joe and conversed and vibed out. All staff was super courteous and wore masks the entire time! I didn't realize that we were only one one side of the place until we got ready to leave and decided to take pics next to their beautiful Christmas tree! Please note: the only reason for the 4 stars is the lack of variety in breakfast meats outside of pork. Possibly one of my new favorite places. We decided to do a little breakfast for the big birthday- best way to celebrate- beautiful patio, sunshine, a light breeze and some bumping 90's music to set the mood. Real bumping- voice is a little scratchy from having to speak up. My friends has mentioned this place before and we had visited a few months earlier but there was some confusion about reservations for the patio. Today We got lucky decided to give it a whirl. It was worth the wait- A very sweet woman at the front door , blonde hair- maybe a little bit of an accent was absolutely magical. She was so warm and helpful. Our waitress was nice but a little quiet maybe- not sure how to describe her but we will leave it at that. Good thing the woman who greeted me at the door was able to help us make breakfast a great experience. You have to try the lobster in a jar- I think I could have just ordered that for an appetizer, entree and dessert. Incredibly flavorful, buttery, and plentiful. Lots of ! I could drink that buttery goodness like a soup. I'm pretty sure I did. We split the truffle parm fries- on point. The smoked salmon eggs Benedict were a win! We would suggest placing the eggs on a heartier bread though. The croissant got a little soggy after we let the yolk run. The blueberry ricotta pancakes we good. Hints of - yum. Fresh fruit- soft potatoes. Yum! An incredible celebration with beautiful friends- I would suggest getting there early- patio was packed when we left. A real dreamy set up. We came here for our 11th anniversary dinner and were disappointed. No real greeting and even though we came in at 4:30 for an early dinner, we were told the table they put us at was reserved afterall and we would have to quickly finish our meals before 6. No a great start to our special dinner out. No one asked if we were celebrating anything, no special dessert and food was just ok for the price. Upon entering the restaurant, the front of the house seemed small and quaint, although I didn't venture to the back of the restaurant it seemed as though there was more seating in most likely a larger room. To start I ordered the house Cabernet and also ordered was the Old Fashion both drinks were tasty and the old fashioned that I tried had the right amount of alcohol. Lunch entrées ordered were the Ahi Tuna Tacos which consists of ahi tuna, avocado, mango salsa, garlic ginger slaw, jalapeno crema, flour tortilla, served rare. And the Croque Monsieur (which I was craving) it is a pan grilled French bread, that comes with honey ham, gruyere, béchame sauce and a side of pommes frites. Both dishes were excellently executed. My friend and I decided to have dinner here on a Thursday evening. I ordered a well done cheeseburger with fries. My burger was NOT well done however, I decided to try it anyway. They served cold and hard butter with biscuits where biscuit would fall apart trying spread. Omelette didn't come with bechamelsauce and when we pointed out to waitress she simply said it was inside omelette but after few bites it definitely wasn't. Belgian waffle was not the thick, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside waffle you would expect. Instead, it was soggy and thin. I can make better frozen waffles at home. We ordered the mussels, ahi tuna, chili fried chicken sandwich, Korean tacos, Margherita and prosciutto and fig flat bread. Also received two cookies as well. Just back from dinner with friends at J Theodore. First time for any of us there. Made a reservation as previous attempts to go failed as it gets booked solid quite quickly. Upon arrival shown to a nice spacious booth. A few tables and bar stools already occupied so it looked promising. Waiter quickly introduced himself and took our drink order. Drinks were served quickly and we were asked if we wanted any appetizers. Wife and I ordered calamari and our friends shared truffle fries. Calamari came out with fried green beans (yes this was on the menu but we didn't see that) and 2 side sauces. Funny, we were never asked if we wanted any dipping sauces or given any choices. Oddly enough when the bill showed up we were charged for the sauces. Like really?? Come on. I'm not going to complain over 0.75 cents but it's the principle. If you are gonna charge me, ask me if I want it. Oh and by the way, this calamari was okay but far from fresh, clearly frozen kind. Disappointing!!!! Truffle fries seemed okay but nothing spectacular. The waiter kept coming by every 2 mins in between to see if we had made a choice for mains. One guest asked if they had a gluten free menu and this was abruptly answered with a resounding NO. And not even offering what the person could eat. He did try to make it up by suggesting some minor alterations for dishes that were questioned. I had the short rib and gnocchi whilst everyone else had a salad. Salads looked to be a decent size but then again... no one asked what kind of dressing anyone wanted. Half way through our main course the waiter popped round asking if anyone wanted dessert. Man 3 people still had half a plate of food and we were enjoying the evening. We felt rather pressured that he wanted to turn the table so fast. Anyone by the time everyone was done we never got a chance to contemplate having dessert as we were immediately asked if it was one check or 2. Food was good, drinks were good, service started off well but went downhill fast, no pun intended. Oh and it is rather pricey for an hour dinner. This is my new go to Friday night place. They have a live DJ during the evenings of happy hour. The drinks were great not too strong not so sweet the food was really good for a late night snack type of vibe. And the inside of the restaurant is beautiful hands-down amazing artwork and lighting. The only downside to this location is they have a single bathroom occupancy which can get a little busy. This is an average establishment with poor customer service and food. The hostess was rude immediately. Told us the only option for seating, with a reservation made weeks in advance, was outdoors "because [you] booked on Open Table." I explained that was where I was directed after going to the restaurant website and she said - I would never recommend you do that you should have called us... I tried to explain I was a following the website and if that's the recommendation they should put it in the website and she said - I don't own the restaurant... Pretty unhelpful start. She then told us we had to sit outside because there were no other tables for hours. Sitting outside was not an option in 40 degree weather so we said we would wait for the first available table inside - she spent 5-10 mins trying to talk us into sitting outside before putting us down for a table inside. Someone recommended to walk over to TrueFire to just addd us to the list there - so I did. Miraculously, after returning from the restaurant next door, J, Theodore's had an inside table available. The restaurant is poorly lit and has one bathroom/gender. The waitress ended up being very kind. A few times, people not dressed in the same clothes (wearing extremely casual street clothes) as the wait staff, would come by and drop off food/drinks with bare minimum words/eye contact/etc. The food- No on the calamari- but the red sauce option was good. No on most of the "craft" cocktails - old fashions, mango el Diablo margarita, peach Bellini, rare book espresso martini No on the pastas The Steak Frites - steak was good but minimal, salad was good and plentiful, no on the fries. Came here for the second time and it was even better than the first time. Great food! Great atmosphere! We went on a Sunday and the DJ was jamming. The music wasn't so loud that you couldn't talk - it was perfect. The service was beyond amazing both times! The cocktails were delish!! The woman answering the phones today has absolutely no business working in a customer-facing position. I called to make a reservation, and her attitude was such a turn-off. It took her forever to answer the phone, and when she finally did, she was unfriendly, unhelpful, and downright rude. After making the reservation, she said "your reservation should be set soon," which I didn't understand because it made it sound like there was a chance the reservation wouldn't be set. I said, "I'm sorry, but what does that mean?" And she, very annoyed, said, "like you'll get a text confirmation soon?!" Then she hung up on me. She called me back a couple minutes later to say the date I was trying to reserve dinner for was a Sunday. I said, "Ok...?" She said, annoyed again, "We close at 2:00 on Sundays and don't reopen for 5:45 reservations." I said, "Oh ok, you can just cancel the reservation then." She had a dramatic sigh, then hung up on me again. We've been to J. Theodore a couple times since it's opened, but honestly, I don't see us going back after that exchange today. My partner and I came for lunch our drinks were good, however I had to remind the waitress Megan several times of our complementary bread, and our oder not to mention, I did not receive mine. Not only did this rub me wrong, two younger girls had came in ten to fifteen minutes later and received full service from the staff and their meal before ours. I regretted making a reservation for my birthday here the second I walked in. The restaurant was very busy, people everywhere and had to wait a bit to check in. They said there was one area to have a large party and that we would have that table. Got there and another large party was there. Not sure if they stayed over or they ended up double booking but we got stuck in the corner at two separate tables that they tried to make doable for the group. It was hard to talk to everyone especially when the club dj came in and was blasting music. Great throw-back rap playlist but really weird in the environment and impossible to talk to the group. Our server couldn't have cared less if we were there. She was barely around and was in a hurry to leave as soon as she got to our table. I ordered the steak and I was bad. Seriously just go to Texas Roadhouse for a better steak at a much better price. Everyone in our party felt the same. Many of us didn't enjoy our drinks and I don't think anyone loved their food. It saddens me to write a bad review because I went to their speakeasy last year for my bday and was blown away by the amazing experience.
