Went for the Brewers vs Cubs game and the bouncer was so rude to my group. He accused my group of being over served when we only had 2 drinks. I believe his name was Kyle. He had a crusty mustache and he is a terrible person to have representing the bar. He was threatening our group and he said comments that were racists to one person specifically. Because of his "power trip" other customers were disgusted and left as well. The night manger was no help in solving this issue either. Was the worst bar experience I've ever had in Milwaukee because of the mustache guy. You have lost my business and the business of others as well. He should get fired for being bad at his job and racists to paying customers. read more

Jack's has been a staple for my group for years - a cheap happy hour place (lasts until 6pm, Thursday is buy a pitcher get a free 12 inch pizza night), a lively bar on Friday & Saturday night with great music, a great place to watch a game (tons of TVs), a fun place for dinner & trivia (Tuesdays & Wednesdays), a convenient and cheap way to shuttle to and from Brewers game or Summerfest, and surprisingly even a decent brunch place (we were there for an early Badger game and they serve cheap mimosa's by the pitcher - only 1 straw needed.) They've changed there menu quite a few times, and some of my favorites were taken off (they used to have a great strawberry spinach salad and an amazing grilled vegetable & hummus wrap.) That being said, there's still a lot of great things on the menu including their wonton fried rolls, their burgers, sandwiches, or wraps. The worst thing about Jack's is there is only 1 bathroom, downstairs on the opposite side of the stairs, so it's quite the journey if you're upstairs on a crowded night. read more

Came in for what they called brunch and to hop on the "free" shuttle for the Brewer game. First off, Brady Street was busy getting ready for the big game between Germany and Argentina. The road was blocked off, people were everywhere, just crazy. When we walked in, we were greeted right away but for some reason my friend just wanted to get on the shuttle...I think she was worried about not getting to he park on time. So the hostess (?) sent us right out to the bus. He sent us right back because she didn't give us a wristband, and he needed to go get gas. That was fine, because I wanted to eat. And that was when we found out that we needed to pay $5 for each of us (my friend, my 10 year old son and myself) because we didn't purchase an alcoholic beverage. Now, this was AFTER we ordered. So, it's not actually a free shuttle despite their website, menu, board, even a sign on the bus said free. And it wasn't like my son wasn't going to have a beer! I haven't used a shuttle in many years, and when I did they were more restaurant than bar. I also know how many people hop on them for the free ride without spending a dime, so I get why it wasn't free. But we spent $25 on food and sodas...I don' t recommend the bacon flapjacks at all by the way...plus the $15 for the wristbands. I won't be back. Not with friends, not for food, and certainly not for the shuttle. There are plenty other places to eat and take a shuttle to the game in town. read more

I've been to this bar a lot and usually have a really good time, but last night made me never want to go there again & I won't be recommending this place to anyone. There was a man that put his finger in my friends mouth in a very inappropriate way (obviously) and was also smoking a cigarette inside of the establishment. I immediately found a staff member walking around, a guy named Aaron, and told him what happened and he went over to the guy and shook his hand. I followed and then asked if he was going to do anything, which he said no and then shook the guys hand again! I told the supervisor and the manager on duty and nobody did anything to make sure the guy was out or that the worker got penalized. As I was finding the manager, this man FOLLOWED me and then touched me inappropriately. The worker I told 100000% should've kicked this guy out and ultimately made me and my friends feel super unsafe. We left and do NOT recommend if you're a women looking to feel safe! **UPDATE (again) 6/24/14... I have to admit it: Jacks has become my go-to bar on Brady... While I didn't see this coming, I am happy with the result. Good place to get beer and I like the $8 Liter specials they have (I think on Fridays). I also enjoy the convenience of the Brewers shuttle as well as the outdoor seating area which is great for people and dog watching on warm summer days. As it would turn out, my experiences with their food has been all but positive since my first review. I have had the chicken tender appetizer (which is totally a meal portion..... dinner + leftovers -- score!). I've had their fish fry pretty frequently and its very good, I've had their "$1" burgers, which require a drink purchase and additional charge for extras so it comes out to the price of a regular burger more often than not but thats okay cause it was awesome. I've also had a salad and some other stuff and was pleased with it all.... What I was not pleased with was the subpar margarita I got last weekend which I later found out was $8..... who charges that $8 for a margarita!?! Anyways, with all the positives I've had recently, I'll let the $8 marg slide.... live and learn. *** (Original update 12/7/13): So i went to Jacks last night for drinks and i Have to say... I like it. As far as a weekend pub its got a good vibe, i was surprised to say I actually liked to way it was lit and looked overall (despite what was said in my previous review, maybe the style is more suited for nighttime I guess). I think as a bar this place fits in with Brady and I'd be inclined to say I'll probably go back on a regular basis. Despite all my contradictions, I will maintain that I am not impressed with Jacks as a Restaurant and will not be eating there anytime soon. But I will be drinking there at night. read more

Jack's American Pub is a cool bar on Brady Street. It's always been busy on the weekend when I've been there. My favorite part is on Thursday's they do $10 pitchers and with every pitcher you get a free PIZZA. As for the bar environment, pretty fun. Two floors, lots of arcade games if your into that type of thing, and decent priced drinks. I've never been there for anything other then drinks/pizza but would be willing to try it out for brunch/lunch. It's a fun place to stop on the weekends - give it a go! read more

Another great, casual experience for us! First off, we do tend to favor the Brady street area, as it's our neighborhood, but not all the restaurants are good (let's just be honest here). Jack's opened a year or so ago - used to be Crisp. I walk past Jack's nearly every day, but yesterday was the first time my husband & I gave it a try. They have outdoor seating during the summer months. It was a beautiful day so we opted for one of their umbrella tables and a couple of cold drinks. Our waitress was very friendly, brought menus and offered some suggestions along with the drink specials. I opted for the chef salad with honey mustard dressing, my husband the wings with their house dry-rub. I know there was a previous review bashing the wings, but we both loved them! I guess it's simply a matter of taste. They were heavily seasoned, but neither of us felt that it detracted from the order. We're both "wing people", so if you are too, don't hesitate to give them a try. My chef salad was very nice - large portion, great dressing, fresh (albeit iceberg) greens - I would definitely reorder that as well. I can't comment on the interior as we never set foot inside, but we loved the food, service was great.... we'll be back! read more

Decent bar food and a staple of Saturday night bafoonery on Brady street. Nothing special about the menu, but everything from the salads to wraps to pizza is pretty good, not great. Prices are in line with what you're getting and it's usually a good time at night. Shuttles to Brewer's games is a nice touch. read more

Lunch and dinner are really good - especially for "bar" food. Most recently went for brunch and it's like 5 and 2. The $12 pitchers of mimosas are totally 5 - both tasty and priced for a budget. The breakfast food is hmmm....below ordinary. The hash browns are close to the worst. Toast is toast. Eggs...well...the eggs don't appear cooked in a pan so like the microwave kind. Now I'm being generous on the breakfast at 2 cause the drinks help but at $10 it's a bit silly. Lunch/dinner food is awesome though so unsure why breakfast food is subpar. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. We were seated outside next to the curb (not a big deal), but the hostess failed to tell us the shuttle would be parking less than 5 feet away from our table. Our food arrives and so does the shuttle... Nothing ruins your appetite quite like exhaust fumes, heat coming from the shuttle (on an 80 degree day), and a noisy Diesel engine. We informed the waitress of our grievances, and she responded "Ohhh yeah other people have complained about the same thing." Jacks is a pretty typical sports bar in my opinion. If you want standard pizza, burgers, beer and sports then you'll be happy here. I typically only come here to watch a game. Come early if it's a popular sporting event. It gets busy and there will be standing room only. I watched badgers play a couple games in the ncaa basketball tournament here last here and it was really fun but impossible to get a drink. On a typical night service is good. Food is typical bar food. Nothing amazing but not bad. read more

Terrible service!!! There are only like 8 options on the brunch menu, and the waitress managed to mess up our orders. We ordered at 11 and the food started coming out at 12... Some people's orders didn't arrive til half of us had finished eating. She switched my husband's and my omelettes (I don't eat onions) which my husband didn't realize til eating half of my food, leaving me hungry. One person's order was completely forgotten. Girl bartender says sure, OKs all, guy bartender asks for mine again, gone 5 minutes, didn't realize I walked into a bar run by the CIA, second guy comes to ask me for more id's of mine, another 5 minutes go by, comes back with ruined id that in fact is very real, get served shitty poured beers.... The menu looked great. The servers were polite. The decor was unique. The place was clean. We ordered $130+ of brunch dishes. All were incredible. Pulled Pork hash was awesome. Steak finger sliders were great. The BELTA sandwich was loaded. We ordered bloody Mary's, were given free beer chasers, and ordered a pitcher of mimosas. I'm not sure why other rate this spot so low, but everything was remarkably good. I can't speak to anything other than the brunch menu. Went to Jack's on a slow Wednesday night. Didn't get any food so can't comment. The group next to us had what seemed like great pizza for drunk munchies. What I like about this place is the lighting, which is a bit brighter then your typical Brady St jaunt. It looks much more warm then Crisp, which always seemed a little off. I had a pretty horrible experience at Jack's, which was disappointing considering that I had really been looking forward to going there. My boyfriend and I were sat quickly, the hostess gave us water, and then we waited for about 15 minutes. The place was no where near busy, and I believe we were the only table on the floor inside that had anyone seated at it. We never saw a waitress. After the 15 minutes, the hostess came over and asked if we wanted anything else, and I asked if we could order. She shrugged her order and said "sure, okay" - which was confusing, as she was obviously the hostess and not a waitress. The bf ordered a Chicken Bacon Ranch wrap and I ordered a Chicken Caesar salad. The hostess didn't write our order down. Our cheese curds appetizer came first. While the curds weren't bad, the number of them that we actually got for the $8 price was really disappointing. You can get more curds at the State Fair for less than that price. When our order came, the bf's was given a cheeseburger instead of his wrap. The waitress, who stopped by our table at this point, took it back and put in his correct order, while I waited to start in on my food until he got his. When his wrap finally came and we started to dig in, I noticed that my Chicken Caesar Salad didn't in fact have any chicken. I pointed this out to our waitress, who took it back to get a new one. The new salad was pretty oversoaked with dressing, though it did actually have chicken in it. Overall the food was decent, the pricing was a little ridiculous for the quality, and the service was horrible. We don't plan to go back again. read more

We attended a graduation party at Jack's on a Sunday afternoon and it was a good experience. The party was on the second floor, which overlooks the lower level on all four sides in the middle of the room, and also has an outdoor patio. The inside area was a good space for a party. There's an upper bar that was manned by two bartenders. There is plenty of seating, plus an air hockey table and a few other games. Our 4-year-old was able to come along, which was nice. Jack's provided a taco bar and it was tasty. Even my picky husband went back for seconds! My only complaint is that the wood plank floor on the outdoor patio is falling apart and has some large holes. Not only was this not safe for our 4-year-old, but it seems like a generally bad idea for anyplace where people regularly are drinking. Oh, and the ladies room is a typical, stinky bar bathroom. Overall, though, I liked Jack's and I'd go back. read more

Jack's has good deals and decent food. Wednesday $1 burgers are huge and flavorful. On Sunday they have NFL Ticket. It's a cool open atmosphere and very easy to manuver around the bar. They have a decent drink deal every day. read more
