STAY CLEAR of this Restaurant- So disappointed in the quality of food! Tasteless calamari. Plus this restaurant had numerous flies all over the restaurant.. flying into your face and eyes, and they have the audacity to charge an operational fee?? Feel as if I want my money back! So, just to start off, we weren't given silverware or a napkin. We ended up having to go track it down our self because the staff was talking behind the bar the full meal. After I finished eating, I went to wait for the bathroom because someone was using it. After a while, I heard the toilet flush, and the door immediately opened (no handwashing took place) and the guy went into the kitchen!!!! He was a cook!!! I was incredibly disgusted. Not that it matters what he was doing in the bathroom, but it stunk, and I can guarantee he didn't wash his hands in the bathroom. Love this place. Went on a work trip and this restaurant was highly recommended. I was highly satisfied. I am picky. I ordered the ribeye medium and it was cooked to perfection! Chefs kiss. The veggies were green beans and broccoli cooked to perfection as well. Still crunchy with flavor. Cheese toast could have been a bit more toasty for me but it was still very delicious. And the house salad was wonderful the ratio of veggies and mix with bleu cheese crumbles so delicious. I also ordered a margarita with mezcal. Wow so delicious I ordered a second. The waiters name was Lalo I believe I'm so sorry if I butchered that. He was very kind and read a person very well. Checked on me just enough and not too pushy. Also recommended a delicious mezcal. Food was great sitting at the outdoor patio and service was quick and our server was very friendly.

I went back recently and had the tri-tip sandwich. I was craving one and not many restaurants can do tri-tip right. I grew up with real Santa Maria style tri tip and it's hard to find a restaurant that makes it tender enough to eat. Jack's does a great job. It's tender and flavorful. I was really surprised. Now I don't have to drive to Slo to get my fix. Also, the service was great. Our waitress was very attentive. It's really a hit and miss with this place. I hope it continues to be good. Nachos still need more queso blanco. Other than that everything was great. I'm already craving another tri-tip sandwich! read more

We live in templeton and often walk to Jacks. We love the staff. Today we came in for a cocktail around 3:30 4/5/2025. The bar tender was just rude. She acted like we were bothering her. The atmosphere is upscale-ish Bbq/saloon feel and decor. The food, oh the food my friends couldn't say enough about their ribs. They shared a half rack with a very generous serving of mashed and coleslaw and a roll. Others friends and myself jad the Philly steak style sandwich made with there tri tip. So so good buttttt.... It said it had chipotle aioli it didn't mention it was spicy. My other friend got the tacos and she didn't even eat them because they were too spicy. Suggestion Jacks, put a chili pepper or some type of symbol to notate the spiciness. Highly recommended. My only disappointment was in the young lady that was serving us. It was Mother's Day we were early there was plenty of seating. She sat us took our drink order then our meal order. Delivered our meal Order and then she never came back until we flagged her down to ask her about the birthday dessert we requested. If she had come back maybe my friend could have order something else to eat instead of paying for something she didn't really touch. The young ladies attitude to us for just asking her a question was as if we asked her to pay our bill. Which by the way since our table had six we where charged a "service fee" aka tip charge, no biggie that is to be expected, however our little miss didn't get a bigger tip do to her poor service (in our option) and at least 2 of the 6 in the party are millionaires. I'm so conflicted giving this review. I know the food was good and had better potential. The bbq wings were amazing! Nice and crispy! I ordered the chicken Asian salad and my friend ordered the fish and chips. The fish and chips came cold. Not warm, cold. The chicken on the salad was dry. Service? The wait staff was kind but gave terrible service. Slow, didn't bring what was asked for. Just lack of common sense. A group of us came in for an early dinner. We were immediately greeted and taken to a table. Our waitress came by the table right away to bring water and ask about any other drinks. Our orders were Chicken Sandwich, Fish and Chips and Carnitas Tacos. Within a couple of minutes, we were brought the wrong orders. Must have been for someone else. My husband's Chicken Sandwich was delicious. My Fish and Chips were extremely fishy tasting and our guest said she could smell the fish. The Carnitas tacos came out as Shrimp tacos. We have had meals here before with no incidence about the food at all. Our waitress was very accommodating and worked hard to make everything right. Have had dinner here a few times with family and constantly good food and service. Prices are fairly reasonable and they provide a children's menu for families with small children. Our last dinner there with our family however was a terrible experience only because of the infestation of flies inside the dining room. It was really bad and we didn't really notice until our food was on the table and the flies started attacking. A manager explained that it was due to the fire at the adjacent feed and grain building that was recently destroyed. She was very kind and I felt her explanation was honest. read more

Ventured out for dinner during a visit to Templeton. The restaurant was busy, service was backed up and we were told it would be a 20 minute wait (on a Tuesday night!). We were prepared to bail and find another dinner option, but surprisingly they were able to seat us in 5 minutes. The service was great, with food and drinks coming out quickly. If you read the one stars, you'll find similarities to our recent experience. Monday 8/29/22. It's all in service... There's an Excessive heat warning in the area of Paso Robles currently. Fortunately it was only closer to the 90's (opposed to the 111 coming in 3 days) but still, we picked up our kids from school and had completed a 4 mile hike so we were looking for water at our table. Our server didn't bring water. Out the gate, that's not a good sign. When I asked, she brought one cup of water. For me. I asked if everyone could have some. She somewhat got defensive stating I hadn't clarified "how many" people needed water so she didn't know. After that, it felt like we needed to go inside constantly asking for one item at a time. Or flag her down. We constantly interrupted family conversation to get serviced. Like pulling teeth. Well, we were sitting outdoors, so I walked into the restaurant, again, to ask for something basic. Things we should have already. Sauces...WATER... Well anyway, walked into her loudly gossiping about our table- over us originally asking for water! Growling and groaning. Mind you, this is a slower day at Jacks. She jumped at the sight of me standing there, and I asked her if she was alright serving us. If bringing water was a problem. Anyway, after that she had the manager serve us the rest of the way. I guess maybe I would have felt embarrassed too. Glaring looks through the door at us, I mean, the entire staff handled this really poorly. Even up to speaking with management, I got a verbal blow off. "Thanks for sharing. See you next time." Unfortunately someone else in Yelp said it best besides myself in the past two months; Seems like a management issue. Please address the importance in the spirit of hospitality and keeping your customers hydrated. They shouldn't ask for water in the hottest times of the year. Most policies frown upon gossip but if you have to do it, if you're THAT person, then do it in privacy. read more

This has to be my favorite restaurant in Templeton. You can always find a lively, fun atmosphere and helpful wait staff. I love the variety in their menu...you can be sinful or a bit more saintly in your options. On this occasion, a friend and I had dinner there, with me opting for their taco salad and my friend ordering the ahi tostadas. Their portions are pretty generous, so consider sharing dishes if you have a small appetite (or consider a to go bag for yummy leftovers). I thoroughly enjoyed all the fresh ingredients that went into my salad, as well as my lavender cosmopolitan (the drinks are almost too pretty to consume). My friend enjoyed the tostadas, which are equally delicious (I've had them before)....just get out a fork...they can be messy without one. There can be a wait if you don't get there early enough, but at least that means they should be around a good, long time. read more

Just had my first experience here with my friend Joe he's suggested we eat lunch there and split a Prime Rib sandwich and the waiter Diego said that they have a special where they split the sandwich and give each person a nice side of very delicious fries that were off the chain. The Prime Rib sandwich was so tender mouth watering and seriously, the best prime rib I ever had. I'm sure we'll be going back very soon. Thanks Diego for the fabulous service too. read more
