Urban Fries (with blue cheese, spicy chili oil and chili flakes) were a game changer. I loved the chili oil and flakes! I really have tried to make this place work for us, but alas they just can't get it right. The staff just does not care and prepares food without care, gets the order wrong every time, and has no adult supervision from what I can tell. On the positive, they are just down the street from me and have an exceptional menu with very healthy choices. Abundant parking on a large shared lot. When a manager is on-site this place is perfect. Last night it appeared it was all teenagers who just do not seem to me to care about what they are doing and it shows from service, poor food presentation and care, and screw-ups on orders. Stopped by here on the way to Tahoe because my friends from the area rave about this place. Got the Urban Fries which were really good - they had the perfect amount of flavor! Most Jack's Urban Eat chains have consistent quality in their food and sandwiches, and this location was just as amazing! I highly recommend their garlic fries and/or urban fries, BBQ Tri-Tip, and Pesto Chicken. Those are my favorite go-to's to order. Runner-ups may include the Turkey Brie, Reuben NY-Style, and Banh Mi. Love the food here. Always fresh, friendly staff that seem happy working there and it's very clean. I want to try everything on the menu, it all looks so good. So far I've gotten 3 down! More to go. My one complaint is that the chicken strips came with a side, but not my steak sandwich. All dishes should come with at least ine side...as with most restaurants. Not sure if they just forgot, but I've heard others say as well, that no bread with soup or salad, is odd. Same with your sandwich. Fries chips or a small salad would be nice. read more

Great place to get a fast bite before you start the weekend. This place has some parking challenges if you go on Friday evening. The restaurant has indoor seating as well as outdoor seating which is really nice on a beautiful Friday evening. They serve beer and wine and a variety of salads and sandwiches as well as side dishes of macaroni cheese, mash potatoes and French bread and soup. I got the turkey cranberry sandwich with some french fries. The turkey was warm and very tasty covered in cranberry sauce. For a minute I thought it was Thanksgivings .... lol... The restaurant was clean and the Decour was very nice as well as the bathrooms are large. I love the idea of build your own salad to your own taste. The salads are very large. The food is delivered in a timely manner with a number stake you take to your table. I gave this location four stars because the outdoor seating area could be kept up more and tables cleaner. There were birds eating off the table and poop on the chairs. This is a easy fix just have one of the waiters or waitresses come out to clean the area and make sure that the customers have refills of water. A lot of people who come to this Jacks Urban location are coming from the bike trails or hiking trails and they are very thirsty and the temperatures are heating up. What a sad experience. My company gave me a door dash code. I never use door dash but decided to order from here. My salad was poorly put together, lacked the extra things i paid for and came with two tablespoons of dressing. Two salads and fries came to 75.00. I'm so disappointed in the urban fries with steak. First off, I asked for extra sauces and chili oil. Instead all I received was a tiny bit of chili flakes and a bit of blue cheese sauce! What's the point of calling them urban fries if they're going to be that plain. Secondly, why give an option to give instructions if NO ONE READS IT....imagine had I not asked for any extras, I'd probably have no sauce at all. I am super surprised at the current 3.5 rating for Jack's Urban Eats, because after my first visit for lunch today - it is safe to say that I am a fan of Jack's Urban Eats and give a solid 4 stars. The menu consists of salads, sandwiches, meat platters, soups and more! Today I tried the Banh Mi steak sandwich, the mac n cheese, and a small serving of the urban fries. The Banh Mi sandwich was tasty and the tri-tip meat was very flavorful. I absolutely LOVED the urban fries! Super crispy, and with the combination of spicy oil, red pepper flakes and creamy blue cheese, thes fries were the star during today's luncheon. I couldn't stop eating them - I would highy recommend these! The Mac n' Cheese was disgusting - super bland and lacked alot of cheese. Even after sprinkling pepper, this poor dish never recovered and I would not recommend it. Mac n' cheese? I am so sad. I love this Jack's - it's my favorite of all the different locations. But we've had 2 major missteps in my last 2 to-go orders, and friends be warned. 2 weeks ago, I ordered a tri-tip plate, no gravy, extra barbecue sauce. When I got home, my order was swimming in gravy, with no barbecue sauce (yuck!). Tonight was much worse. I ordered a Santa Fe salad, NO JALAPEÑOS. The salad was for my daughter. I checked the receipt before I left, and it said "no jalapeños". It was a nasty surprise to find the salad full of jalapeños! I snapped a photo of my receipt next to the pile of jalapeños. I love Jack's food, but that's twice in two visits that our food has been ruined by carelessness. read more

Second time coming here while training out in Sacramento for 2 weeks. The first time I had the Asian Chicken salad and it was solid. They use regular orange slices as opposed to mandarins, so that was an interesting surprise! Second time I had to get the Tri-Tip, Mac & Cheese and Mashed Potatoes. Tri-Tip was medium rare, but was a bit tough for me. The barbeque definitely helped with texture and flavor. The Mac was creamy but pretty mild in flavor, probably attributable to milk added. The mashed potatoes and gravy were pretty standard... a nice dollop of butter would definitely help. If you want some flavor, definitey go for the Garlic Fries or the Urban Fries! Those have the "Kick" that I was looking for from the main course. A solid 4 stars for good service, good food, and a chill environment. Any place that plays "A Thousand Miles" is cool in my books haha! read more

I would have preferred to write directly to the company, but I couldn't find a customer service email. Anyway, for the company, my check was Check #205. One of my salads did not come with the dressing I ordered or any dressing, for that matter (the create-your-own with steak). The other salad did not have croutons, as ordered. Otherwise, for other people reading this, the food was good and generously portioned. I ended up just using whatever dressing I had at home, and we just happened to have some croutons that we could use. The steak on my salad was excellently prepared. For the other salad, when I ordered on-line, I wrote in the comments section that we wanted extra dressing -- when ordering on-line at most restaurants, that is often something that gets overlooked. For that one though, at least, they came through and gave the extra dressing, so good job there. We are regular customers here and normally they are five stars out of five, in our experience. Just on this occasion, we had a couple big fails. Plus, I wish there was some on-line comment/feedback option on their website so I could have just written this to management and not blast it on Yelp. read more

What happened? Never thought I'd be giving Jacks a 3 star review. Walk up to order my salad and see a new item. Ask the price and guy said "I don't know look on the menu". Ok fair enough. Asked if they had sizes on the urban fries (had been a minute since I been here) and guy says no. Ordered salmon salad, portobello mushroom sandwich, spicy green beers, cheesy bread, and chicken strips. Go to pay and they confirm the order including small urban fries. I said "there are different sizes?" and he confirms there are. Wait your guy just said there's only one size. I said you should really train up the food makers and switched fries to to large. He responds saying they are all trained but he is new. Huh? Are they trained or not??? I am not one to post normally, but the manager, Holly, and her crew went over and above this past weekend. Our soccer team needed a location to grab food together in between our games for a tournament and I thought Jack's would be a great option to go to that is quick but good quality food. We were pressed for time and Holly made sure to bring in extra staff to accommodate our tight schedule. Everyone got their meals and the team had a blast together and then we were on our way to our next game with plenty of time. Many of our families had never been to Jack's and I'm sure they will be back again soon too. I just had to give a huge shout out and thank you to Holly and her crew, we appreciate all you did. We stopped on our way back from Tahoe. I like the concept of a line buffet but the line was slow so that was irritating. The food is very home cooked and comforting. Nothing fancy. Just good food. We borh ordered the Cobb salads. Hers looked way better than mine. The salad dressings were great. I got ban mi, steak sandwich to gO as well as chicken and mashed potatoes. The food at Jack's is fresh and typically well prepared. The new FlowerChild Salad is not my favorite. Three out of four of us ordered it and although we are enthusiastic salad lovers, all three of us stopped eating halfway through it. It is way too heavy on kale--not massaged to soften it and the stems were inedible. Kale is always a bit of a risk because if not massaged it can be like eating paper. It wasn't listed as an ingredient (green superfood doesn't define it well enough). It was also very heavy on the pickled red onion--just too much. I'll choose a different salad next time! read more

My wife likes this place better than I do. When we do go, I order the BBQ Tri Tip sandwich. Even though I order the same thing every time, there are always inconsistencies. About 80% of the time it's just okay, 15% it's not so good, and 5% of the time, it's excellent. Not a really good ratio. My enjoyment is based on whether everything on the sandwich is what I ordered, to how much steak came on it.. Getting my order wrong is usually the only consistent thing that happens at Jacks. Building a sandwich isn't rocket science. Their silly ordering system is the likely the primary cause in most cases as the order taker scribbles all over the tablet in hieroglyphics making it indecipherable. Maybe those who are actually building the sandwiches don't care about getting it right. That really isn't Jack's biggest problem however. My biggest problem with Jack's is the ongoing horrible UNSANITARY habits that occur at virtually every visit INCLUDING yesterdays. Cashiers who accept payment at checkout also get your drinks. The problem here is these people NEVER USE THE ICE SCOOP WHEN FILLING DRINKS! With all of the filthy germs, viruses and yes, even fecal matter that is very often found on cash or credit cards that they are handling, these lazy cashiers grab your cup and scoop your ice by hand. That is freakin' GROSS! IT'S AN ABSOLUTE HEALTH CODE VIOLATION! I have complained three times in previous visits yet it continues. I now can't help but wonder what other sanitary failures are occurring. I'm done! Yesterday's trip to Jack's was my last. The next calls I make will be to the health department and Jack's corporate. read more
