Similar to pluto's? Yes...but better. The tri tip is always cooked perfectly...the bread is soft and toasted...I love the urban fries and the sides they offer. Urban fries are my idea of perfect fries...garlic, blue cheese, and chili sauce. Delish!!! Mashed potatoes with the skin on, broccoli with cheese, Mac n cheese...you name it. They're all good. I was craving for some mashed potatoes & decided to come here. I've been to the location near the arden area and it wasn't a big deal for me. The food at the location seemed off. It was 3-4pm on a Saturday. We found parking immediately on the street. Thank goodness they have good AC here too. There was a line, but it wasn't as long. So here's how to order, you wait in line and figure out what you're going to get. Then the employee writes down your order, example: I ordered the Lemon Chicken & Chicken tenders and fries. -that employee hands you a copy of the slip & you continue on your way to the cashier. That cashier tells you if you have any sides, or would want a side (mines came with 2 sides): So I told her I wanted mash potatoes with gravy and the lemon asparagus. She also ask if you want anything to drink. Then they'll ask for here or Togo. You pay, she hands you the drinks & a number to put on the table. Trust me I didn't know how to order the first time, I was so lost and confused. The food didn't take long, maybe 8-10 mins! & lemme tell you about the food. It's was GOOOD, and the sides they are not skimpy with. Even the barbecue sauce was good! It was $26 well spent. Walked over to Jack's on a recommendation from a coworker when I was in Sacramento for a business trip. The place was bustling at 12:15 p.m. on a Monday and I hurriedly picked the Santa Fe Chicken Salad off the menu. Crispy jicama, grilled chicken, black beans and other tasty morsels with just the right amount of dressing. The patio outside beckoned with brilliant sunshine on a cool afternoon, but alas, no tables were available so I sat inside amidst the hustle. The tri-tip classic sandwich I had was so tender! The bread on the roll was so fresh. The ingredients so fresh, I ate everything and licked my plate clean it was that delicious. I came here while visiting my friend. She highly recommends this place mostly because of their salads (huge and so many toppings for like $12, great deal!) but I was really craving a sandwich. So glad I purchased one. ~$13 and the food was just the right amount to leave me full, but not overly stuffed. I also got an iced tea, which was peach flavored. Extremely disappointed. I have been going to Jacks for at least 15 years. So I know what to expect and I didn't get that at all. I ordered a "side" of Tri-tip and a "side" of Mac n cheese. First I am not sure why I keep ordering the Mac n Cheese. I am never happy with it. It totally lacks flavor and I even salt and pepper it! Typically when I order a "side" of tri-tip they give me a regular size portion on a plate. This time somebody assumed I wanted just a small piece cut up into child size pieces! I am past 60 and do not look like a child! I was so disappointed that I will not be returning any longer as the food has gone downhill anyway and not worth my drive or money. They messed up when they stopped creating the food in front of us as we watched what they gave us. They still have a good clientele because it is in a great location, but the food is no longer worth it. I wolfed down my Beautiful salad before a picture could be taken. My friends Caesar/kale/spinach salad with olives was also beautiful. I had spring mix salad w/olives, cucumbers, tomatoes, croutons and steak added. We had two sides of Mac and water to drink. We also had our giant overly excited bully puppies who were licking passerby's toes like creepers. The service today was lovely. Help with getting us water, a highchair and one guy was so nice to for letting my puppy lick him. She's very slobbery. The cashier was so helpful and patient and another guy, brought us Ice for my friends toddler who is also a wild pup. Four young men were great today. Last visit here for a long while. This place used to be dependable and consistent in quality, service, and atmosphere. Tonight they had a bad night from my perspective. Dinner line was short but it took forever to get salads and some chicken. The food was good when we got it but half way through dinner a busboy dumps a load of something into the bus station that was behind us and I, my dinner and the table got wet. The busser was apologetic but then handed me a wet towel they use to wipe the tables with to dry myself off? WTF? My food got wet so it was toast, yet no reaction from the management.. well, I guess maybe there was a reaction. Seeing as how I had no food we left, as we got up we noticed the busser speaking with the manager and they both were laughing. Capped it off with a little high five. I crave Jack's when I'm feeling any type of way, but especially when I'm looking for an easy, quick meal. I've probably been here at least 50 times. My go-to order is always a "Create Your Own" salad, but I think I've tried at least 75% of the menu in my 7 years living in Sac. The mashed potatoes are pure comfort food. The mac n cheese is a dream. The Urban Fries are addictive. And the cheesy bread? A MUST. It's buttery, flakey, gooey, and everything cheesy bread should be. Customer service is top-notch and the facilities are pretty clean. Pro tip: sit outside on a warm summer day. They've got a great corner spot to observe Midtown! If you're looking for a post-work out, this is the place to be! I've been to this location once, but normally have been to the Natomas location. Either way, they both taste amazing :) The only thing stopping me from giving it a 5/5 star, is the slightly price-y-ness for a salad. You walk in and there are plenty of seating options, both booth and table. Service is very nice and speedy. FOOD I generally come here for the salads. In an effort to not dispel my whole work out, I get the dressing on the side so I can monitor how much dressing I'm actually ingesting. ($9.95 + $3 for chicken WHAT) The Harvest salad was wonderful! It was topped with crisp sweet apples, spiced yams, candied walnuts, feta cheese, and red onions, all over a bed of spinach and romaine lettuce. I had forgotten to get the dressing on the side but it was a vinigarette, and added chicken on top. A tasty and hefty side of sweet potato fries is an additional $3.50 (totally worth, WITH a side of BBQ sauce omg yum). Jacks in a fast-casual establishment in downtown Sacramento. They have a moderate sized menu with salads, sandwiches, and plates. This is a great keto option. They have non-carb dressings as well as plates with meat and veggies. Surprisingly, their chicken breast is really good. I'm usually wary of chicken breast because it can be so dry. Jacks is moist and flavorful! A win! Their salads are can be hit or miss. You can order off the menu or make your own. Some of the salads I've had have been homeruns. I once had one that seemed watery and flavorless but the following time I just ordered it with mixed greens instead of romaine and that solved the problem! I think the blue cheese dressing might be watery as well. They have GREAT sweet potato fries as well if that's your thing! All the sides are great. on 9/14/2024 i order my food to go. i waited a good amount of time. which i understand they are busy. when i got my food. my food in the back was just all messed up. food was on its side in a clam shell. when i get to my office to open my food. The back of my car was leaking because everything was sitting on its side. call the store to talk to a manager. she did not care one bit. her response was "i dont know what you want me to do". as a manager this is horrible. i will no longer ever order food for my office from them! poor customer service when i got there also. read more

It is a small location and therefore seating can be limited but you don't have to wait long. The restaurant was pretty clean and the staff friendly and accommodating.
