Came for Valentines Day, had really high hopes. It's " Omaha steak" after all.... We were sadly disappointed. I will say the service was ok, the restaurant was dark and freezing....the drinks were the best part of our visit. We ordered a 10oz bone in filet ( med rare) with scallops ( 4) and a side of truffle mashed potatoes- We received the steak and it was medium- med well, so they had to refire, meanwhile, we ate the scallops off of one shared plate and ate the truffle mash- all before the steak finally came out about 15 minutes later- and was still inconsistently cooked- parts medium, parts medium rare- and tasted of char. I was less than thrilled and did not eat it! I left eating 2 of the 4 scallops, and a scoop of potatoes- the server made multiple excuses, but never a tried to make it right. If you literally don't know how to cook a bone in filet, you probably shouldn't make it your " valentine special " . She repeated how difficult it is to cook... which made the experience worse. I wouldn't come back here. There are so many other options. Coming from Vegas where strip prices are crazy- this was worse- and I didn't even get a good resolution. Too bad. read more

Nice steakhouse for an evening out. Prime seating is on the balcony with a beautiful view. We got there before our reservation time, walked in at the same exact time as a couple with a reservation 15 minutes after ours and they ended up getting the last seats outside unfortunately, due to the host not going based off reservation times. The food was good. The menu is typical for a steakhouse. My steak was cooked perfectly. the waitress was great and attentive. Unfortunately I could also tell there was some passive aggressiveness from another waitress towards my waitress which caused some awkward moments as a customer. read more

Omaha Prime has been a staple for many years and I only recently had the opportunity to try. It pains me to write this about such a long standing establishment but we were left wanting more. The restaurant was completely quiet on a recent Friday night...no diners on the first level and only 2 tables occupied upstairs. There was no music and it was almost uncomfortably quiet. Our server was incredibly kind and attentive but needed more education - when asked about the aging process for the steaks he wasn't able to answer. The steaks were very good but not what they should have been for the price point. The proprietor was very friendly and took some time showing us around and I very much appreciated that experience. If wanting a steak downtown, I would opt for 801 Chophouse at the Paxton. Prime is a beautiful space with a lot of history and I'm hoping my experience was a one off. read more

We came with a group for NYE and it was all of our first time. I have to say, I was definitely impressed. The food and service were great, my steak was perfectly cooked and the sides were delicious. The restaurant itself could do with a bit of updating, especially the bathrooms. It was also a bit on the pricey side, about $100/pp and we brought our own wine. Wanted to like this place soooo badly, but our experience was absolutely horrendous. We were greeted by what seemed like a host in training (or maybe just a helicopter of an owner). The first thing they told us about was the location of the bathrooms (hmmm.. probably wouldn't start a guest's experience with that) and asked if we had a reservation like HMMM not sure if we can fit you in... ok the place was empty. We were seated upstairs and we asked if we could be outside (as it was the nicest weather day of the entire summer) and they noted the patio was closed. Let's note they have literally the most dreamy outdoor section of all time. They said that section was closed. I do understand, but it was 8pm in the summer, at a steakhouse, and the patio is literally on the other side of the windows from the table we were sat at. We waited indoors for 5-10 minutes and were not greeted, and not brought water. Servers constantly walked right past us. Finally, once greeted we asked once again if there was any way we could be outdoors, as the place was so quiet it didn't seem like it would be the end of the world for them to make an exception. At this point, it was clear that there must be a power struggle going on at this establishment because the servers were so certain management wouldn't allow it, although those tables are literally 2 feet away from our current table inside. We finally were allowed to go outdoors, and minutes later they allowed another table to be sat near us on the patio. Again, no service, no water... nothing. Then, the topper on the cake was the other table seated outdoors without a struggle.. was greeted immediately, got water, and their drink order. Still no water or nod to us that we were even there. No water, now we are 15 minutes into the experience. Clearly, there was mass miscommunication at this establishment, and total lack of teamwork. We really tried to wait it out, but decided our time at this steak house would have to come to an end before even receiving water. We really wanted to like this place because the patio was so dreamy and relaxing, but enough is enough. My husband and I came to town to celebrate our anniversary. After speaking with a few locals and the staff from our hotel we knew Omaha Prime would be the best place for our anniversary dinner. When we came in for our reservation we were greeted warmly and wished a happy anniversary. We ordered a round of drinks and the Chilean Sea Bass, the 14 oz KC strip steak, and a baked potato to share. The sea bass was absolutely delicious and the garlic sauce was to die for. My husband raved on his steak and potatoes as well. The service was absolutely top tier, and we were gifted cheesecake for an anniversary dessert. I truly loved everything about this place. Sometimes you need to go straight to the source And that's what we did in Omaha. We had the best quality steaks we've ever had. Out in the Midwest, where the cows are raised, you won't find a fresher steak. It's hard to describe but the tenderness was unlike anything we've had before. The meats were so juicy and cooked to a perfect rare. We ate every piece so fast in order to enjoy the amazing meats. The truffle cheesy mashed potatoe side was phenomenal paired with our steaks and red wine. There are so many steakhouses to choose from in Omaha but this one was a fantastic classic one. This place has honestly beat any place I've been to for high end steaks in the last 20 years. Next up is the A-5 waygu.. we will be trying that next time we visit on date night! So headed back home from our trip and my father and I decided to get a good steak for the evening. We didn't want to go somewhere to pricy because we just weren't dressed for the fancy places! We stepped into Omaha Prime and it was like stepping back into time! The decor is older but not horrible! But let's be real. I was there for the steak not the decor. I ordered the Caesar Salad and bone in filet. Caesar salad was fresh and had actual anchovies on it. That provided a new level of saltiness that I had not had. I have to say it was one of the best caesars I have had. The bone in filet... was it worth the extra money or not? I would vote just to get a normal filet. But hey I can say I tried it! The filet was cooked perfectly and was a great piece of meat. Tender and seasoned well. My father ordered the hash browns and asparagus family style sides which were both good. Fine dining is something that we rarely treat ourselves to. We both appreciate great food, well put together dishes, and special touches that make an entree unique. I had heard about Omaha Prime through word of mouth and it all looked (from the pictures) and sounded delicious! One morning one of my friends through asked what days would work best for me and Jason to try out Omaha Prime. A few weeks later after figuring out our schedules he had set up a reservation to trek on down to Old Market and try this local New York Style steakhouse. We started off dinner with an appetizer of the shrimp cocktail. These came pretty promptly and a great portion size for the two of us workout-a-holics. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and cooled and large as well. When our main dishes started coming out were were so amazed by their beauty and abundance. Our porterhouse was wonderfully cooked to our liking and being able to taste both sides was an experience I'll always remember. Now I can easily tell the difference between a new york strip and filet mignon, but eating them both in one sitting was amazing. Both were delicious in their own unique ways. The mushrooms were wonderful, if I was going to enjoy mushrooms I'd enjoy it sauteed in brandy just like this. Everything we ordered went incredibly well together like a beautiful harmony of notes that create a beautiful song. Even our waiter was a delight to have help us out. We ended our dinner trying a couple of their desserts which were the perfect ending to our evening. The New York cheesecake and key lime pie were just enough rich with the right amount of sweetness. We are so thankful to Mo and our waiter, our friends who treated us, and this tucked away steakhouse that has more to offer than what it seems. While I'm Town I decided to try what I hoped would be the best (read: most expensive) steak ever. I ended up ordering a 38oz Tomahawk Ribeye ($110) and a nice Cabernet. This is NOT something I normally do, lol, but I wanted a memorable "Omaha steak experience". I don't know if I'm ready to claim that it was the best steak in my life, but it was pretty damn good, and it was cooked perfectly (medium rare), especially considering how thick it was. The filet mignon was a good cut, but 1 out of 2 was over cooked to the point of having burnt and dry ends, it was supposed to medium rare. The sides were not good at all. The potato's had little flavor, the Brussels sprouts were burnt. The service was extremely slow. The server didn't go over the menu, steak cuts, wine selections. Didn't take the wine glasses when we decided to no wine. So our already small table was cluttered. The decor is super dated as well. The experience was not worth the money. read more

We were in Omaha Nebraska and was referred to go to this place to eat . I figured well Omaha /steaks no brainer. We first got there at 5pm when they opened up and nobody was there . This came out and I think they both were really good to start . The main dish came out and janes asked for us to cut into our entrees to see if it was wgst our liking were. We both said ok . Now my filet was the bomb , but the ahi tuna not so good, way too salty !! So I called for James and told him the issue . H brought it back to the chef and asked wgst else would we want so the wife got the salmon. Soooooo much better. We also got the truffle garlic mashed taters and this were phenomenal as well. Asparagus was a little hard and tough for our likings but we ate the tops of it, and I do believe that all entrees should come with a side of rice and a side of veggies. That shouldn't be ala carte for how much you are spending on those steak prices. Finally we got a dessert to share The crème brûlée. It was just ok nothing to brag about . The crème was good but it didn't have the vanilla bean inside the topping wasn't crispy enough it just tasted like granulated sugar and they just put a maraschino cherry on top. To me that was ghetto. It should be fresh fruit and a dollop of fresh whipped cream. But all and all it was good service , decent food, very nice place and played good old music from deano. Prices were reasonable with tax our bill was 160.00, but I still think ALL ENTREES SHOULD COME WITH A SIDE IF RICE AND A VEGGIE!! This place is great !! They fit us in last minute on valentines eve. So cool of them. The bacon wrapped quail was my favorite. The crab cakes were crisp outside and I loved that. The cocktails were okay. The tomahawk steak was epic ! We had It uncut and with the crab legs that were on point. Brussels were great and the mushrooms and the cream of spinach. Omaha Prime is a what you would consider a classic steakhouse in the heart of Downtown Omaha's Old Market. My feelings on the establishment is mixed. For a resident of Omaha, which I am, there are so many options around town to have a fabulous steak dinner. That said, in order to have a true drive for me to dine at your business, there has to be something a little extra to catch my attention. Omaha Prime delivered on the food and the service, but small other things hold me back from wanting to rush back. The restaurant sits on the street level and one level up, and there is some "patio" dining that puts you right in the Passageway- awesome! Not as awesome- entering from the street to the awkward hostess station and bar/lounge area which is entirely a wasted space. No one patronizes the bar and the empty tables look awful to any who is just walking by the sidewalk curious to peer inside- there is no one seated there and the whole floor just seems like a waste. Would like to see them utilize this space more- this is the first thing guests see when they come in. Then you ascend some creaky stairs to the main dining floor- not great for older/hadicapped people and an elevator is not in plain sight but I am sure they must have one. Bathrooms are back on this awkward first floor so you will be up and down while dining here a few times. These oddities aside, the food was classic steakhouse fare, My bone in ribeye was delicious and the sides ala carte were easy to share (broccoli, mushrooms, mashed potato) and the crab cakes and meatballs were nice apps. The service was lovely on our visit, but really, the bottom floor needs some love and reno. That is the image I leave with despite the good food and good service. read more

Our party of four ate here last Saturday evening. I read a wide range of Yelp reviews and was a little tentative about going, but I'm so glad we did! Service was excellent! I had the fillet, my friend had lobster, and the two husbands had the ribeyes. Everyone was pleased. We ordered four sides and shared among the table. My favorite, by far, were the Bleu Cheese Potatoes. So delicious! Also super good were the mushrooms, asparagus, and hash browns. Okay, the moment I got out of the plane, my friend immediately suggested we would need to have some steaks in Omaha. I agreed, and she selected this place for its famous Omaha steaks. I felt like we were on a little date because the restaurant has the relaxing vibe in the dim-lit room, but I enjoyed it after a long flight on the plane. Our server was very nice and professional. She knew her little presentation without stuttering and proudly introduced all types of steaks to my friend and me. Yes, there was also lobster available for purchase. Anyway, we settled down for a 20-oz ribeye steak for each of us, and we also ordered mashed potato for side dish. My oh my! The mashed potato was heaven with the crispy top and super creamy bottom. I ordered medium rare, and my friend got medium for her steak. The steaks were so tender that we could easily cut through the darn meats without trying! Water was always filled all the way without having to ask was a pleasant experience since it was 99 degrees on Saturday in the city. Came on a business trip and my team wanted a good Nebraska steak. Came in on a Wednesday night and the place was pretty empty but we gave it a shot. Nice place with lots of pictures on the walls. Wine list was modest but I recognized a few labels and picked a mid price bottle for the table. Wine bottles were all gathered up and standing on the bar top, not stored in any special location or refrigeration. It was whatever. Appetizers came before the meal, so we had to wait a few minutes and watch them cool down as we waited for our dinner. The strips looked okay and were cooked to the right temperature. I had the sea bass which was severely undercooked, almost see through raw, but by the time the waiter came to check on us, I'd pretty much just decided to let it go and just eat appetizers. An okay meal, nice atmosphere, but not worth the price at $100 a head. read more

If you're looking for a great filet this is the place! We came here for my Birthday dinner/ New Year's Eve dinner. This was our first time so we really didn't know what to expect. It's hard spending tons of money on a good cut of meat because we both like to grill out at home. However, this filet was perfectly cooked as requested! We brought our own wine, a really nice bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. Knowing they charge a $25 cork fee we did so anyway. In our opinion restaurants of this caliber shouldn't charge this high of a cork fee if the wine list is weak, and lacking options... Oh well. It was in celebration so we paid It. We arrived hungry and really wanted an appetizer so we ordered the lobster Mac and cheese. It did not come out as an appetizer, and our waiter told us it was burnt (?) and that it had to be re-made. [The waiter comped one of our sides and ended up bringing out the app. with our dinner]... It was a Good-save as we were not that happy about it. With our steak we ordered two sides (garlic creamed spinach and truffle oil mashed potatoes)... The creamed spinach was delicious but the mashed potatoes were missing the truffle taste??? (Which sucked because we both were hoping for a delicious tasting truffle oil flavor). At the end of the night the gal clearing our plates heard it was my birthday and brought over a piece of cheesecake with a delicious strawberry sauce. That definitely changed my rating from a 3 to a 4 star review! Super sweet gesture! Everything considered, we think it is hard to spend this much money on food and not be that thrilled or blown away. I'm sure anywhere in Omaha it's great. The prices were definitely higher than what we're used to, but we don't eat steak everyday. The establishment was not busy when we went. They have one tv which was downstairs. (It was NBA playoffs so we needed updates) The appetizers are definitely plentiful. Make sure you come hungry because you will get full. Wow, Yelpers in Omaha are tough on this place. We ate steak every night for four straight nights and found Omaha Prime just as good. Maybe it was luck of the cut and we just got lucky, but the whole meal was perfect. We went family style with Lamb Chops, Tomahawk Ribeye, Bone-in Filet, KC Strip. All cuts were awesome. I want to go on record, the six Lamb Chops were the best Lamb Chops I have ever had. The meat was seasoned with salt and pepper and just fell off the bone. I did not go with five stars because the French Onion Soup was bland and boring, no flavor - even the cheese was lame. The Brussels Sprouts were soggy and awful. The blue cheese potatoes came out cold. But - the Sautéed Mushrooms are served in a red wine sauce that is absolutely to die-for. Just FYI - we ordered a second plate of mushrooms and a second serving of Lamb Chops and took the meat and swooshed it in the red wine mushroom sauce. Fabulous!!!!!!!! read more

While visiting Omaha for work, we decided to eat dinner here (wait for it...) based on their reviews. It's such a fun restaurant. You walk in on the first floor and it seems like its dead inside. Then you go upstairs to the dining room and BOOM - so cute! A nice size dining room and the coolest second floor outdoor patio. The ambiance is absolutely fantastic. It would be perfect for anything from a regular night out to a romantic dinner to a large party. I am always a sucker for a great Bernaise sauce and Prime did not disappoint! My filet was perfectly cooked, but the Bernaise was a fantastic addition. All sides are family sides and no joke, the baked potato is large enough for five people! When ordering a potato of this size, of course you have to add the cheese and bacon! It's worth it! The owner was onsite and moved about the restaurant making sure everyone was doing well and making sure drinks were full. We had a few bottles of Champagne and they were all delicious. I wish I had taken some photos because the review alone does not do it justice! If you are in the area, it's a must visit.
