This spot is hidden off of Dysart Road, this little gem is great spot for tacos and breakfast. I had the Pastor Tacos, very tasty. The tacos had more than enough meat, I really enjoyed the flavor of the pastor marinade. My second item was the Chorizo breakfast burrito, nothing spectacular about the burrito. What did like is that my order was hot from the stove. This place is an order at the counter and they'll bring your food to you. They do offer chips and salsa while you wait for your order, the salsa was on point. I do recommend you trying this spot out. read more

This review is for both Jacky's locations (Buckeye food truck and Avondale rest) Both places are pretty laid back- so if you are expecting a fancy sit down restaurant this place is not it. Now if you are wanting some good simple Mexican food then you are in the right place. We've had the chicken fajitas, the asada chimichanga, the chicken quesadilla and the mixed enchiladas. All in all- plates are a decent amount of meat and food (we usually had some leftovers) The chicken fajitas were more of a chopped/shredded chicken more than slices - no biggie just different. The asada chimichanga is pretty big - enough to have leftovers. The mixed enchiladas is one of each (I figure I would mention it as I thought it was a mixed of Beef, Chicken, Cheese all in one lol ) Their horchata and Jamaicas are BIG and probably some of the best Ive had! read more

Gf and I go here all the time for mexican food. Usually get the torta (carne asada or cabeza), carne asada fries, and the chimichanga (cabeza). The torta is really tasty. Love how the meat is cut in small pieces so easier to eat rather having a whole slab of meat. It gets soggy if you wait more than 6-10 mins so be careful. Very big portion too. 10/10 The carne asada fries were good too! Big portion and tasted good. Im not picky with carne asada fries since they're my favorite but this is easily in my top 3 places to go. I have not experienced soggy fries since I eat them right after I order them. I also request no beans. 9/10 The chimichanga is huge! Very crunchy and yummy. The cabeza kind of tastes like the carne asada but more softer. The entrees at Jacky's are fresh and natural tasting. The ingredients are simple, but complex in flavor. These entrees are light, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. On this visit we had tacos, enchiladas, and everything was delicious to the very last bite and the Agua Frescas we're so refreshing, light, and flavorful. Ordered a few burros (2 sausage and a chorizo) and a kids chicken quesadilla. The chicken quesadilla tasted nasty and maybe old chicken. And only got two burros which was a combo of chorizo and sausage. None of it was pleasing. Gave it a better rating bc when I called the lady did apologize and offered to make it up. Very good food! We ordered the 50 Cent potato tacos, also a couple of bean tacos. They're kind of small, but we knew that going in. They are very tasty. We went for round two and ordeted of a couple of Gorditas and a cheese and jalapeño tamale. Incredibly good! read more

Tried Jacky's for the first time today after moving here to Avondale from San Diego 4 months ago. I am extremely disappointed. My wife picked up our order that consisted of carne asada fries, two tripas tacos, and two pastor tacos. Also, requested that the fries be extra crispy. Carne asada fries- soggy and fries undercooked. Beans thrown on top and sprinkled with carne asada. Extremely unsatisfying. As I noted earlier, she requested the fries be extra crispy. On side note, texture is everything in food. If you want to keep business and separate from your competitors, that is a must! Tripas tacos- gross. Sorry no other way to put it. It was obvious not fresh and was frozen and toss onto the frying pan. Pastor tacos- dry. Couldn't even finish it. Flavor is as usual. Overall, I support small businesses but the lack of care and preparation turns your customers off. We would love to come back and give second chance, but that may be some time. Remember, word of mouth goes a long way. Please fix these issues. read more

Second time and it was just as good as the first! Last time we had chilaquiles red and green. This time I went with the red and my dad went with the Chile rellenos, they were pretty good but the chiles could've been steamed a little longer. Overall, very pleased again and will be back. read more

Friday afternoon, one patron seated and eating when we arrived. Another table arrived, and one takeout order came out of the kitchen, after we placed our order. The interior is shielded from the parking lot by covered-up windows except for the glass door, making the place more dark than bright, though it is not dark. Would do well to have the windows opened up, although that would reveal the interior is not spotlessly clean. Our order took a long time, especially considering there was only the takeout order in front of ours-and that came out 5 minutes after ours was placed. 25 minutes for a couple of tacos when everything is obviously mostly prepped was too long. Beef hard shell taco meat is more chunked than ground, about the size of kibbles. Not the finest cut of meat, chewy but terrific seasoning. Delicious, but too much raw onion. Chicken hard shell taco meat is shredded white meat with something binding it together to an almost paste-like consistency-think chicken liver pate-with great flavor of turmeric, but too much raw onion. Rolled chicken tacos (three) come with shredded lettuce and cheeses and is delicious-except for how wet it is. Water puddling under the tacos will get soggy unless eaten quickly. Great food! We have been to both locations. The food truck is really busy. The shrimp tacos were really good. I asked for cilantro and onions only and it came just as I ordered. We have had the quesadillas the burritos and all were very good. The guacamole was different than I am used to. It was really thin and runny with no chunks of avo , onions or cilantro. Maybe it is how it is made in Arizona. I have recently moved here. We def are making this a go to. read more

I used to go to the food truck across town and didn't realize i could've been going here all along, very good food and very affordable for the quantity that you get, I got the pastor quesadilla and it was damn near perfect, not too greasy but just needed a little more cheese which i could have specified so that ones on me. All in all a pretty good contender for the household "where are we gonna eat tonight?" question. Will be back for sure. read more

I never post reviews but this place was great. 11 of us wandered in on Super Bowl Sunday for pre game food. Nothing fancy here but everything fresh and clearly just made. Me and my husband were in search for Mexican food. This place pop on my Google search. Not sure how or why lol. We decided to go give it a shot. The outside of this restaurant looks decent but as soon as you open the door this restaurant looks like is screaming for help. Needs so much remodeling and new furniture plus the vibe wasn't even good, no greeting, we couldn't distinguish who work there since there were so many teenagers just hanging there... We really enjoy much of their menu and I personally think they have some of the best tasting rice and beans. Downside would be the fact that we were served expired cotija ontop of our food making the whole thing trash. Disappointed and disgusted. I always saw this place when stopping across the street at Walmart or just driving through to avoid traffic, but I never stopped until today. No regrets! Everything is fresh and super authentic. I'm picky when it comes to my meat quality, taste and color of beans, taste of enchilada sauce, and the type of cheese used at Mexican restaurants. All the items I got came with a side salad of chopped lettuce, radish slices, cucumber slices, pico, sour cream, guacamole, limes, cotija, roasted chilis, and sauteed onions. The enchilada sauce tasted perfectly spiced with just a hint of heat. The cheese on top and inside was the appropriate queso oaxaca. The asada taco was also super good and came with a bunch of toppings. The shell was fried and crisp. The meat could have been a little more tender, but it wasn't fatty and didn't have gristle. The taste of the meat was really good. My asada gordita was also great. The flavor of the dough/shell was on point. It was perfectly fried and filled with meat and beans. Their beans are amazing too! Wonderful texture and flavor. Too often I see restaurants using cheddar cheese, beans that look and taste canned, low quality meat, and overall just not putting their heart and soul into the food. I definitely feel this place is a gem and should be more popular. I'm definitely going back as often as I can before moving away. read more
