Went for the first time today The food is super fresh and very tasty. I got the spicy shrimp, orange mango chicken, sweet chili cold noodles, chow mein, and curry mashed potatoes. This place is delicious and an insane value for ~$20. Just had to drop a review to counteract the crackers out there complaining that Chinese food should be EVEN cheaper than that. Meanwhile, that same person has 5-star reviews for the most basic-ass Italian joints on the westside that charge $30+ for a plate of pasta. read more

2nd time I ordered take out. Both times food is cold. Nearby. Lost 1 star for the shrimp. 2nd time, some large shrimp and under a lot of small shrimp. I dont remember small shrimp the 1st time. Chow mein, 2nd time, seems prepared on not clean grill or pan, or bottom of the pot, scorched, dark. 1st time fresher, brighter. Spicy broccoli, all stems, shaft, no florets. Some kind of leaf, Also a slight scorched taste. I had the spicy shrimp bowl. And 2 extra side vegetables. Things reheated, or cold. Really these dishes with delivery tax,$50 for one. Don't feed me whats sitting. Broccoli was a fail. This isn't a cheaper fast food. To start off with the staff was friendly and the ambience was nice and clean, but the good parts ended there. This place has some serious work to do on the food if they want to stay in business. I had a build your own bowl with brown rice/salad, double Chinese broccoli (because the other vegetable items looked overcooked and soggy) and the chickpea curry. The rice was surprisingly cold and the salad was fine. However, the broccoli was ice cold and super bitter...inedible. The chickpea curry had an ok flavor but was also cold. Everything is under lights, but obviously the lights are to weak. I wouldn't be surprised if people start to get sick from food that is sitting out and not kept at a health code temperature. My friend had the fried rice/noodles, Chinese broccoli, cucumber salad (which, as I feared, was soggy) and the spicy Szechwan chicken. All of her food was served cold as well and she also did not eat the veggies. The most happily surprising part is that the price was fair, but in my opinion, the food should at a minimum be hot. read more

I have eaten twice at this restaurant. It is different than any other place in the area. I find myself craving the food even though it is different than my expectations. It is not traditional Chinese food; rather it is as if Tender Greens and Panda Express had a restaurant baby, but in a good way where quality and inventiveness are at the forefront. I like being able to choose different combinations of items. All of the food has had excellent flavor from the cold noodles to the pickled vegetables. It is a comfortable place for take-out or a casual, homey meal made by people who know what they are doing. The staff are all gorgeous and friendly. I have eaten in and taken to go. I prefer to-go. The line staff are kind of hit or miss. One night they are engaging the next time, the crew seems understaffed. The space is ok, but nothing special. But the food is good. Again the amount you get is up to the server. When I heard the Cassia folks were opening this place I was very excited. Cassia had these incredible duck dan dan noodles we would always get as takeout (hint hint). I've been here quite a few times and I love the spicy cold noodles. These are fantastic. I've been on the hunt to find something like this in LA for 20 years. I also loved the orange mango chicken, the cucumber salad and the beef and broccoli. Overall this is a great spot for a quick meal and great for takeout or delivery. Amazing customer service is rare these days but from the moment we walked in we were greeted with friendly and helpful staff. Terell was delightful and patient as I navigated the myriad options. I wanted to try everything but finally settled on the mango chicken with white rice, chow mein, cucumber salad and sweet potatoes. They offered a side of their house sauce (I don't know what it's called but it's the best tasting sauce I've ever had and it added a cooling/fresh kick to everything on my plate!) I picked up their passion fruit tea and a mango cheesecake type dessert. At the register an adorable young lady, Ananda, rang us up and answered all our questions about this exciting new place. The more we learned, the more we were impressed by the entire experience. The food was phenomenal! The flavors were bold and authentic! Every bite was unique and yet all the options complemented each other perfectly. We were shocked at the quality and abundant portions and questioned how this could even be possible! When we learned that the owners/chefs were on a mission to bring healthy, affordable, delicious cuisine to the community it became clear that we weren't just enjoying an awesome meal, but part of an inspirational movement to bring authenticity, affordability and quality to "fast-food" dining. Besides circling twice to park when we finally got in we were excited to learn what it was all about. When we told the staff we never been before they didn't explain anything or seem to care. We let other patrons jump ahead while we learned the menu. We didn't hold up any lines. Not that many people were there. The staff actually seemed annoyed at this point but still no communication from her - young woman few tattoos. When we did finally order her service was just terrible. Then the next guys service was even worse and his attitude just ruined the experience. The 2 combined seemed like they just hated life. The food was better than i thought but when i asked where the rest room is and best places to park for my next visit they were just upset to have to answer me. He seemed like he had a chip on his shoulder for being short or something. I recommend finding some place else where staff actually want you there. Kale salad was good. It was clean. I rarely give 1 star. I like to promote business and help them thrive esp in SM my hometown. But poor service is where i draw the line. read more

A new restaurant fashioned with love! From the moment we walked into this very inviting space we were completely impressed. Considering it's done in a cafeteria style that borrows from the panda express model this restaurant blew us away. The servers were unusually warm and friendly and the food was amazing. Vegetables were fresh and flavorful ( got me to enjoy eating a kale salad!) the protein options we tried were excellent ( salmon and two kinds of chicken), chow mein and the fried rice were wonderful. You could really taste the ginger garlic and other spices. The place could be dismissed as a Panda Express knockoff but that would be a huge mistake. It's so nice to finally find a Chinese restaurant where you can get a variety of delicious items for a reasonable price! Their combination bowls allow you to choose two bases, two vegetables, and a main entree for under $15! The noodles and salad were both delicious bases. I loved the cucumber salad and sweet potatoes. The Sichuan chicken was delicious. I wanted to sample more entrees, so I got a side of their Orange Mango Chicken as well. It was the tastiest Orange Chicken I've ever had! Sorry, it's a one time visit for me. The orange mango chicken was the only item I liked. The chow mein left a bitter, greasy aftertaste in my mouth, the veggies were served cold and in my "shrooms n zuccs" side, I found exactly one mushroom. The rest was zucchini. The spicy chicken was too spicy to enjoy, and I eat Sichuan Impression often. I love the concept and price point, but the cold sides were a turn-off, the greasy aftertaste was a deal breaker, and the lack of non-spicy options prevents me coming back to try other mains. read more

We live practically across the street and have seen this place change from the bistro to the overpriced Rooster and are glad to see it turn into something delicious and affordable. Well, I will say the family options can get crazy with the premium mains/add-ons. But for solo/couples I could see this becoming a go-to. Portions are substantial - We did a to-go order for a family of 6 and we got what I feel is probably two nights of food. The food itself is great, vegetables and salads tasted freshly made and the service was excellent also. They recommended the kung pao pastrami which was an add-on but was as delicious as it sounds, he said it was a special that comes and goes but if it's there, definitely try it. The portions here are ENORMOUS! The restaurant is organized like a Panda Express or Cava or Chipotle etc except the food is really thoughtful and elevated. You choose the base of your bowl (noodles or rice or salad), main dish, and proteins. You can choose up to six things in one bowl - which is what I did. I like everything. The stand outs were the cucumber salad, spicy chicken, and the salmon. Salmon is difficult in a fast lunch place but it was perfectly cooked and it came with a delicious sauce. No idea what it's called. Try the Jade Sauce. It's green and spicy and put it on everything. The staff was friendly and that means a lot to me. Thank god for Jade Rabbit. Food in Santa Monica is not great (except for Cassia - RIP) so I'm glad this thing opened. read more

We've been so excited to try this new local restaurant, we had to show up on Day 1. The space and ambience is welcoming, cool and not stuffy. Can definitely picture grabbing a bite on the high top by the window or just getting quick to-go dinners. We were welcomed the moment we walked in. Staff were exceptionally friendly and warm, and the service top notch for a new restaurant. We each got build-your-own bowls and loved them.
