My friend and I love this place. I'd never really tried anything besides butter chicken at an Indian restaurant and it was my go to bc I'm not big on spicy. Their butter chicken can be ordered at different spice levels and their mild was fantastic. Still had some heat, but wasn't overpowering. This last time we smelled the most amazing sizzling dish when we were sat and asked what it was. The waiter suggested that if we got the Jaipur Mix Grill it was large enough to share and had a mix of several dishes so we could try a bit of all the sizzling plates. When I tell you it was great, it's an understatement. The Tandoori Shrimp & Salmon Tikka were my favorite. Both were tender and seasoned to perfection. The meal came with several styles and a side of Tika sauce for one of the chicken dishes, but it was too good to not have on the rice and the Onion Paneer Naan we got. She and I both ate our fill and the leftovers were enough for dinner that night. My son tried some and loved it too. The staff was so helpful and even explained what each dish on the plate was so we would know what we liked best for next time. I can't wait to come back with the whole family. Has a great covered patio!! Just wanted to put that out there because their yelp page does not show that they have covered outdoor seating and yet they do! They also have indoor seating and take out. We arrived at around 11:15 AM on a Sunday morning. We sat inside because we have now finished our Covid vaccinations. We saw this little restaurant in passing and decided to try it because we have not had Indian food except through delivery since Covid began. We were greeted and seated immediately and two full water glasses and a carafe were placed on our table. We looked over the extensive menu and finally decided to share a few items. We ordered garlic naan bread as well as paratha bread. We planned to share chicken tikka masala and vegetable korma. When the food came out, it was a huge meal! See the pictures! My husband especially loved the paratha bread and the chicken tikka masala. I enjoyed both the chicken and the vegetable dishes which had very different gravies and which complemented each other well. Our waiter remembered us from 5 months ago as the couple who drives all the way from Houston and gave us spectacular service. Their menu is extensive and full of dishes that you won't find at your typical Indian restaurant; much more than just chicken tikka. Their spice level is no joke and I absolutely love it. Portion sizes are large. But comes with a higher price tag than most Indian restaurants, but I think the flavors are worth it. Lots of types of naan, paratha and other bread. No. My order was lambroganjosh, saag paneer, aloo gohbi and 2 orders of butter naan. Again, yes the food was good. Lamb was tender but there wasn't much in the order. The container looked big bit it was just full of sauce and had (maybe) 12 chunks of meat. The vegetables were pretty much the same. A lot of tomato, onions and sauce but a lot fewer pieces of cauliflower and potatoes. The saag was a bit more chopped than I'm used to bit it was good. Not to repeat myself but I would have enjoyed more tofu. On the flip side, there was PLENTY of rice :/ I probably won't go back. Not because it was bad but because Asiana is not far. Good Indian food is tricky to find so I'll start there - we've had mixed experiences at Jaipur. Our first visit was great - decent selection of various flavors across India (not just Brit-Indian kormas) but our meal tonight was horrible. The Chicken samosas were l bland and dry. The rice was dry. The kadai chicken was watery - super watery. Overall, it's always a gamble as to whether you'll get a thick, delicious curry or a bland watery one. I don't know if there's better Indian in austin but this is the "best" we've found in south austin and sadly it's not great. read more

On our way to the airport, my wife and I had a hankering for Indian food and Yelp led us to Jaipur Palace, with it's great reviews. Upon being seated, we were asked for our drinks and were promptly served drinks. We informed who we thought was our server that we were ready to order our meals but she just turned around and walked away without saying anything. Soon enough, someone with a handheld device dressed in what looked like traditional Indian attire came up to take our orders. My wife ordered the Chicken Afghani Boti while I ordered the Tandoori Chicken. Both were served with basmati rice and a side of what we were told was tikka masala. We also ordered the Garlic Naan. The naan was served first followed by the Chicken Afghani Boti which was served in a sizzling plate ala fajita over a bed of sliced onions. Well, while the plate was sizzling the chicken wasn't hot! The rice it was served with wasn't hot nor warm. There was a 5 or so minutes of wait time before the Tandoori Chicken was served, same as the other order on a sizzling plate but the meat wasn't hot. One of my dining pet peeves...a restaurant's inability to synchronize serving food. My wife's dish had good flavors but my Tandoori Chicken lacked flavor, necessitating a need to pour copious amounts of that sauce for flavoring. The garlic naan was the best part of our lunch! All in all, a disappointing dining experience. Last memories are the cold meat and cold rice...dish didn't seem to be freshly prepared if they're served cold with the sizzling presentation to mask that. On a positive note, the portions are quite generous...too bad leftover meals would need to be doctored up to add some flavor. Lunch for 2 came up to just under $43 including tip. read more

My level of spice. Butter lamb was good. But again, spice level is low. Very tasty dish. Spice level was perfect for wife. I just like that fire spice; lol. I have enjoyed some tilapia appetizer that was deep fried and awesome. Crispy and perfectly cooked. Not oily. Yeah. Very nice start to a meal. Jaipur Palace has great food. I don't understand or have experience with Indian cuisine. But I am always a happy camper after my meal. The vegetarian dishes I have had, all been very good. My only issue is that medium spice is really not spicy. You need to go to that higher level of spice. I feel that if they prepare a dish to hot it would be returned to kitchen. I have seen this with other restaurants. Service is very friendly. Super nice. They hustle. But don't expect polish service. They are just not familiar with the fine points of wait service. It is not like they are chilling and grooving. Like I said they are hustling. Staff works hard. What's that saying "work smarter, not harder". You will not feel ignored, but timing is just off with service. Expect some time. Maybe due to busy restaurant. Or, everything is good to order. I believe the owner is always there. Maybe a manager. The people here are very friendly. The food, even better. My friend and I ordered the Shrimp Biryani. When I tasted it, it was multi-layered with flavors, starting with a sweet flavor that went away pretty quickly and was replaced by a savory taste. Would definitely recommend. I had the butter chicken with garlic naan. I got mild spice and it was such much food I was able to make a whole meal the next day for lunch. They also sell Basmati rice by the bulk bag. One of the best north indian food restaurant in Austin Tx. Their food quality and taste has been awesome in every visit. We have been here quite a few times and have always been greeted with smile by Amrita. She is excellent in service and nice person to talk to. Coming to food, we have tried their Gobi Manchurian and paneer tikka appetizers and they both have been really good. If you ask them to make spicy, it will taste even better but only if you can take the higher spice level. For the entree's, Malai kofta of theirs is my favorite. We also like paneer makhani. With ACL and the UT game this past weekend, I was looking for a weekend lunch option that was away from central Austin. I was hungry for Indian food and living in central Austin the options are slim particularly if your looking for northern Indian cuisine. So I saw this place was ranked fairly high for Indian restaurants in Austin and wanted to give this place a try. I have to say it was pretty spot on. Everything was spiced and they even let you choose up to Indian level spicy. The butter chicken had lots of ghee and I was happy that it wasn't just tomato soup like many places in Austin. You can even taste the ginger and garlic in many of the dishes; they are not using a premade paste. The only thing that was off is the rice, used to a more drier basmati variety; this seemed more like the typical long grain rice. It is located basically the exit after slaughter so your almost to the city limits. read more

This was our first visit, and we enjoyed it thoroughly. We started with the vegetable samosas which were delicious, although the accompanying sauces were quite thin and not very flavorful. The butter chicken, however, was nearly perfect. Unlike other butter chicken that tastes like Campbell's tomato soup with cream added, theirs packs a punch just like the garlic naan. After smelling and tasting the rice, I'm not sure that it was basmati. It's always a good sign when a place attracts Indian families. For the customer service my rating is 5/5, Kevin was amazing. The cocktail I had, Bullet Old Fashioned, was really good. They gave me the extra cherries I asked for!.. starter paneer tikka was good. Paneer makhani was ok. The veg biryani was not to our liking, something about the kind of rice grain used or that it's a tawa biryani and not dum; but Kevin was amazing. He asked how we were liking the food, and when we mentioned the issue, was nice enough to take it off our bill. Really loved the butter naan and tandoori Roti, 5/5. Veg jalfrezi was not good. Ras malai was ok. The plain rice that came with the curries were really good, my toddler had a lot of that. Masala chai was more of a cardamom chai, too much cardamom. What an amazing restaurant! As soon as you walk in, you're greeted with an aroma of heavenly, buttery, curry goodness. We got the Butter Goat, Chicken Biryani, Goat Sukka, Chicken Tandoori, Samosas, and several orders of naan. Butter Goat - incredibly tender meat! I want this sauce in an IV. Chicken Biryani - this, to me, is the ultimate comfort food. Goat Sukka - admittedly this is my first time trying this dish ever. Though it was flavorful, I'm not sure I'd order it again. It was still good, just not my favorite. Chicken Tandoori - arrived on a sizzling plate and made everyone salivate at the table. Samosas - we got this as an appetizer before the rest of the food came, and honestly I was super full after eating this with all the naan. We probably didn't need to order all the other entrees but how could we resist! Naan - so buttery, so garlicky, so soft and comforting, Mango Lassi - this would be a perfect refreshing summer drink/smoothie. Masala iced chai - has a strong taste of spices, which at first sip I thought was cinnamon but I think it's more like cloves. Really delish! Overall, the food was excellent! Oh it's worth noting that bc we have littles sharing food, we couldn't really get anything spicy. As an Asian, I would've loved to have eaten the food with a full blown authentic Indian spiciness. Anyway, the portions are ginormous. Even if we hadn't gotten appetizers, we couldn't gotten away with sharing just 2 entrees honestly (party of 2 adults, 3 littles) with how big the portions were. We have a ton of leftovers. The restaurant itself is clean, the servers are extremely nice and helpful. Honestly the nicest I've ever come across in the restaurant industry. Thoroughly enjoyed coming here and will definitely come back! If you're looking for authentic Indian, this is it. Fusion and food trucks have their place in ATX but there's definitely a shortage of truly authentic Asian cuisine which I'm always on the hunt for.
