Great little place next to our hotel, suggested by a fellow guest. Warm, cozy, clean and friendly, we honored St. Pat's Day with corned beef and cabbage. This is the best burger on Bainbridge. Aside from the unassuming location in the back of the gas station, this place is the best spot for a casual dinner. There are only two tables and a counter, so most people might feel more comfortable picking up dinner to go. But my daughter and I had a pleasant eat-in experience. The open kitchen is nice and the guys behind the counter are friendly and fun. I'm saving the real reason for the five star rating for last...the food! The BEST gluten free cookies I have EVER had in my life, really. I got chocolate chip and white chocolate macadamia nut. Incredible. I bought seven by days end to bring back to all my (also gluten free) friends back home. Most didn't survive the trip haha. They're monster sized and only $3-4 each. Love Jake's. My only complaint is I want more. Best takeout on the island. The hours -- i wish they could stay open late enough to pick up a fresh dinner! My kids love the tuna and chicken melts. I've enjoyed everything I've tried (usually specials) and found them tasty and large enough to share. It is in a gas station but hey, easy parking. I love the concept. A great restaurant in a Chevron gas station. Yelp comes through again. Went for lunch while checking out the island. Jack and K-Girl (husband and wife owners) were real friendly and made us feel comfortable by taking the time to explain the dishes. We went with a couple of personal pizzas, pulled pork sandwich and a po' boy between the 4 of us. My pulled pork pizza was really good and just right for lunch. K-Girl brought us over a couple of sconuts since it was our first time there. They were pretty darn tasty and hit the spot for dessert after the meal. If you're on the island and want to go to a different non touristy place for lunch head to Jakes. It's a little ways from the ferry building (3/4 mile maybe) so, you may need a car to get there. read more

Super surprised to find this gem hidden in a gas station. I will start off with the cons. It was super inconvenient to have to pay at the gas station register and have to then bring a receipt back. Being on a very short lunch break I don't want to have to go from one line to another. But it was okay. Secondly, I ordered the pulled pork Sammy at $9 but it doesn't come with any sides. They do put the coleslaw on the sandwich which is awesome, but for $9 a option for a small side would I think justify the price a little more. Or even offer a beverage of some sort. Call me crazy but $9 for just a sandwich is in my opinion a little much. I could see maybe $5-$6 for just the sandwich. Pros. The sandwich was amazing, a little small for the price but great flavor and tender juicy meat. The bun is fantastic, soft but not soft that the sauce ruins it and makes it soggy. It has a perfect saltiness on the crust that gives it a awesome contrast to the sweet tangy BBQ. The BBQ doesn't over power the meat or anything it's a perfect marriage for the flavors and textures of the sandwich. All in all good food, just need a little improvement with the check out system and offering more for the money you pay. read more

I don't know how that could be a 4 1/2 stars! What a great steak sandwich! My first time here as the lady at the counter what she would recommend and boy she had a good one! My grandfather loved a good steak sandwich and this was a great one keep asking so they make it permanent fixture. Everything made fresh there don't let the location surprise you! This place is unbelievable! Gourmet food inside a gas station seems like a contradiction; but this place is actually incredible. My wife and I have had multiple dishes, for breakfast and lunch. Jake's combination of flavors is just so good. I would recommend the frittata sammy, tri-power burger, and tuna melt! Also, we had several baked goodies which were all really yummy! Additionally, Jake himself is so great. I accidentally dropped one of the pastries I ordered and without missing a beat, he had a new one ready to go even though I told him I would eat it, haha. There is really something special about Jake, his wife, and the dedication and impeccable standards they continually exemplify in their business. I meant to write this review last week when I treated myself to my favorite salad and Jake photobombed my photo of that organic goodness and sashimi grade tuna salad but got hurried or distracted and almost dropped the ball. But yesterday I had another sandwich from cough cough, nearby Jakes but just across the street, and it was so disgusting and unacceptable that I decided 1. I'm never trying another item from Safeway's "deli" and 2. I'm absolutely supporting Jake's Pickup from now on. Thank you for all your hard work you two, every ingredient and item on your menu is wonderful and it means so much to not have to be concerned about where things are sourced or whether items are fresh. This place is truly as good as it gets. With healthy alternatives and the convience with excellent customer service. I have been here several times, sometimes sitting down but often times to go. I came here based on the reviews, and I wasn't disappointed. I thought I was at the wrong place at first, but there was a full restaurant inside the gas station store, and it had a cool car theme for the interior. (You take your receipt to the store cashier to pay) The selection of lunch and breakfast food was great with frittatas, sandwiches, salads, and pastries with gluten-free and dairy-free options. I got the Egg Sammy with cheese and turkey, and my vegan friends tried the their salads. All the food was fresh and well-made; definitely coming here again on my next trip to Washington. read more

Popped in for Sconuts in the AM and headed back for lunch. Our grandson had a personal pizza which of course we had to check and the Marinara sauce was excellent. The hubby and I split a plate of 4 salads, all of which were excellent. Then we just had to have something sweet.....coconut cake....OMG. We were in heaven. What a find! We read the reviews and thought we would give it a try. This was the best meal we had on the island. I wish we would have found it earlier in the trip. I had the pulled pork sandwich and slaw. Being from KC, I'm very picky about my bbq. This was outstanding. The wife had the cheese burger and said it was one of the best ever. Although this restaurant is located in a gas station, the quality of food and service is far superior than one might expect of the venue. Jake could easily take his skill and staff to a beautiful, highly rated establishment. It is a little challenging getting ones car in and out of the parking area, but that fact should not dissuade you from giving the food a chance. The photos below do not do the food justice. JAKES IS AMAZING! My ONLY complaint is that he closes at 7PM. First, lets get the elephant out in the open... this is great food, made entirely in-house from scratch, and you pay for it. Its expensive. If your looking for cheap, this isn't your place. However, the quality is unbeatable, so you definitely get what you pay for. Jake makes a point to know everyone on a first name basis. He cares about his customers. I came in once after they'd closed and were cleaning up, I hadn't eaten and wanted something quick on the way home. He said something wonderful "I don't want you to go away hungry." He hooked me up with some smoked salmon, sushi-grade ahi tuna salad and fried chicken. Everything was amazing and he saved the day. My family and I have eaten at Jake's several times. Every time we've had an amazing experience and absolutely loved it. His breads alone are amazing, I often buy the hamburger buns alone to munch on. I moved from California and ate in Yountville quite a bit. I'm convinced that Thomas Keller would be in love with everything about Jake's.
