I've been to other Jak's Grill locations so I already had very high expectations going to the Issaquah one - and they did not disappoint at all! After we checked in and waited for our table to be cleared/sanitized, we noticed all the staff appropriately social distance not only from the seated guests but the standing guests as well. When we got seated at our table, the waitress was at our table within a minute to ask us for our drink order - very efficient and quick! 1) Appetizer: Artichoke Dip (w/ Lobster) - O. M. G. This is a must order. My husband and I could've eaten the entire plate ourselves but we didn't want to spoil our dinner. The extra cost for the lobster is 1000% worth it as well. The dip has so much lobster in it, it's ridiculous. 2) Entree: Filet Mignon (Petite) - I ordered the petite size of the Filet. If I recall correctly, petite is 6 oz, which was more than enough for me. It comes with gigantic broccoli and some carrots, along with your choice of potatoes (baked potato, garlic mashed potatoes, potato pancakes, or fries). Delicious! 3) Dessert: Bananas Foster Bread Pudding - I personally don't like banana flavored dessert but this was superb. The salted caramel sauce is a nice compliment to the banana flavor, while the vanilla ice cream tones down on the overall sweetness as well. We used to be regulars here at Jak's but unfortunately things seem to have gone a bit downhill over the last 18 months. Service is still top notch, cocktails are yummy and appetizers and salads are a good balance of old favorites and creative "I want to try that". However the steak entrees are just not up to the Jak's level of the past. Multiple times in a row now we had so-so steaks. The rib-eye overly grizzly and a bit on the rough side, same with the sirloin. I'm not expecting filet-like buttery tenderness, texture is welcome! But this wasn't worth the money, the quality of the meats used to be better. Hopefully this is a temporary thing and Jak's will improve again! If you go there: avoid the ribeye and the steak salad, no recommended. Go for the filet or the strip instead (still good). read more

So we were seated at the smallest table in the place and not a mention of our anniversary. Which is ok but why ask in the first place? Will I go back of course. This place was absolutely amazing. My daughters and I stopped in Issaquah for some lunch and shopping and found this place on Yelp. It did not disappoint! We ate from the breakfast menu. It was very difficult choosing what to eat as there were so many interesting, unique, and creative looking choices. I settled with a California Benedict which was absolutely amazing. My daughter loved her scramble as well. My youngest daughter HATED her kids mac n cheese. To be honest it was definitely for an adult. It tasted of lemons and blue cheese - yummy to me but definitely not for a kid. I can't imagine many kids like this dish. Anyway, server was super nice and returned it and got her something else without charging us for it. Service was on point. Our server was very friendly and suggested local attractions. She was efficient and friendly without hovering if that makes sense. Prices were a little on the high end but it is a pretty nice restaurant so that makes sense. We've been trying to come here for months now. Either the wait is really long or no reservations available for dinner. So when we got the reservation for brunch on a weekend, we got really excited. We ordered crab cakes eggs Benedict and California eggs Benedict. Both were blend. Potatoes looked like they came out of a bag - previously frozen. Coffee was average I have contemplated getting a salmon sandwich - then was told it's on a hoagie roll. I had high hopes for this place being it's a really hyped up in out neighborhood, but as far as brunch is concerned it's diner ambiance, service and food. I had scrambled eggs, topped with cheese. when it arrived on the table, the area of coverage on the plate was very small. i asked the waitress where is the three egg scrambled at.......................This was/is a rip off. It was two eggs, and cannot be three eggs....such a small portion showing on my plate. i said to the waitress "where is the rest of the eggs" This is a rip off............... and my toast. one side hard as a brick while the other side was soft, but try an bite through. never again.................what a joke. read more

We always love our go to prawns, chicken Caesar & the Jaks burger for happy hour. And then there are nights (like tonight) where we want more of their menu! So we started with the "side order" of the lobster Mac & cheese- wow! Perfect portion to share & lots of lobster! Then we ordered our entrees- I had the panko crusted halibut- omg so delicious- so moist & with capers & the side of garlic mash & green beans-yum! One of my favorite happy hours! And for the absolute best happy hour in Issaquah or possibly, restaurant, JaK's Grill is it! I've been here a few times where I've been lucky enough to get the $7 happy hour burger. The happy hour here at JaK's is literally an hour long and the bar is tiny. Seriously. Get here before happy hour even begins, so you can stake out a spot or two. It's also all bar seating and gets crowded, so prepare to get cozy. In my most recent visit I came here on my last day of working at an office in Issaquah and to celebrate, had the happy hour burger with cheese and vodka and vodka and vodka, and all was good. The happy hour burger is a half-pound beef patty, freshly ground in-house, and I recommend adding cheddar for an additional dollar. It also comes with fries, so you're really getting a meal for less than 10 bucks at a freakin' steak house! Burger was incredibly juicy and succulent and the cheddar cheese melted right on top, added more yummy flavor. LTO also came with the burger. Fries were golden and crispy, and recommend asking for the house ranch on the side, which is chilled and creamy. It's one of the best burgers in the area and it made for an unforgettable last day of work. I miss it now. Cramped space and really uncomfortable chairs (my leg went to sleep). Very good Service by Lisa and the food was pretty good! I had the Beef Wellington. I've attempted this establishment over 4x and it's always the same. Either poor and slow service or back of the house never communicates well with the front of the house. In all visits, I've either sat around waiting for god bows how long waiting for food, or even the server to come back and address a drink (or lack there of). On sporadic occasions, more than once, they come back nearly 20-30m later to explain they actually don't have what you ordered. This last time that drew the straw to this review, it was D) All Of The Above. Waited for ever to hear they were out, then was told none of our order even went in. After a full re-order, I got irritated I went to a neighbouring bar after order and came backs still before any thing was delivered. I drank a beer and watched football, this wasn't a a quick shot to prove a point. Just save your money. Go to another steakhouse, I could list you several that are better. Solid, quality diner food here at Jak's. We came here for brunch after a long run and it definitely hit the spot. Large plates and a lot of food for a reasonable price ($25 all-in which included a mimosa). I ordered the 509 special (hommage to E. WA). Interestingly enough, I grew up in the 509 area code and had never heard of this concoction before but glad I gave it a try. It was like a personal sized casserole with eggs, cheese, biscuits, gravy, sausage, and maybe potatoes? Not quite sure but it was all in a personal-sized ceramic dish and melted together gloriously. Came with one biscuit and a side of gravy (like a half order, which is just what I wanted). Thinking back, maybe there weren't biscuits in the mix... It all blended together in my mind. The Manmosa is a larger mimosa, but like... Nothing really special. I recommend sticking with your favorite brunch beverage. Quality brunch spot without any major frills! I've been to Jak's Grill multiple times and I've never had a bad experience here. If you want good, quality steaks and food without the pretentiousness of a high end steakhouse, this is your place. Located on Front Street in Issaquah, the restaurant has an old time feel with its wooden interior. Everyone from the hostess to the servers are all very welcoming creating a Cheers-like atmosphere. On my most recent visit, I stopped by for happy hour. Their Happy Hour Burgers are one of the best on the Eastside. For $7 (plus $1 Cheese and $1 Bacon add-on), it's a steal. The burger is juicy and cooked perfectly and you know the meat is top quality being from a steakhouse. The bartender that night, Jen, couldn't have been anymore nicer. My Arnold Palmer was never empty. She struck up a conversation with me and 2 other regulars about her horses and other topics. She seemed like she enjoyed her job and it just enhanced my experience even more. If you can't make Happy Hour, I would also recommend going there on Monday's where their special is the 12 oz. Prime Rib Dinner. The Prime Rib is phenomenal here and the Yorkshire Pudding that accompanies it is just as good. The only drawback about Jak's Grill is that Happy Hour is only from 4pm-5pm. If you can't make it, well prepared steaks is still a great consolation, so there's no complaints here. I just love the casual ambiance here and it's one of the reasons it draws me back every time. I'm going to be honest, I am not a huge fan of the changes Jak's has put into place. Change is bad unless it's great... and in this case, it's not great. Bread is no longer brought out unless you ask for it (and, as far as I could tell, that option wasn't on the menu). Our server never mentioned this, despite knowing we were returning guests. We were left wondering why we never got bread while other tables got it. We then asked for it, and it appeared right before our mains came out. Salads are no longer included with entrees. You have to order those separately. I'm actually OK with this change, as it was a ton of food under the old model, but none of that savings was passed on to the customer. Sides are now your choice... as long as you order a steak. Otherwise, your main has fixed sides that, as far as I know, you can't substitute. I like that I can pick sides now if I order steak, but I don't like that I can't do this if I, say, order the halibut. Speaking of which, the crab-stuffed halibut is now off the menu. They also seemed to re-vamp the wine list. I can't say for certain, but this again felt like a bad change - no winery was spotlit, the by-the-glass list felt smaller, and bottle prices seemed markedly higher than I remember a few months ago. Perhaps the biggest thing I didn't like - the bread pudding is now off of the dessert list. That was one of my all-time favorite desserts. Instead it's a bananas foster version... which is disappointing because I don't like banana. They are trying to project a higher end image, but that's not what made them successful. Really good food, with a solid wine list, and an all-inclusive approach (versus other a la carte steakhouses) is what made them successful. If they insist on keeping this model, my feedback would be - extend side choice to all entrees. Bring out bread without having to ask for it. Explain the menu changes better to returning patrons. Jak's used to be a place we'd really enjoy coming to, but with these changes, it's now just another restaurant that we consider alongside other choices. For years, whenever I admitted to anyone that I'd never eaten at JaK's, they couldn't believe it. This is easily one of the most well-known steakhouses on the Eastside and now I know what all the hype is about. Pricing is definitely on the steeper end, but the quality and cook of their meats are certainly worth it. Four of us visited for an early dinner on a Saturday. As a note, JaK's does not accept reservations, so avoid arriving at peak dinner time in order to guarantee a table immediately. When we arrived at 4:30P, we were lucky to snag one of the last open tables. Jak's is known for their steaks, which are served along with a side salad, hot vegetables, and your choice of potatoes. With a loaf of sourdough bread on the side, the servings here will definitely fill you up! They also offer a section of seafood options, burgers / sandwiches and a menu with the day's specials. Out of the steak options, I ordered the classic Petite Filet Mignon ($41). A couple cuts of their meat are offered in a 'petite' size which is about 8-10 oz. or their classic JaK's size of around 15 oz. The petite size was perfect for me (especially considering everything that comprises a meal) and cooked exactly to my liking. I requested it medium, so it was pink with a reddish center. The meat was super tender, charbroiled with signature marks and tasted simply seasoned with salt and pepper. A pat of garlicky steak butter on top added a ton of flavor. Fresh green beans and tender carrots were served on the side along with my choice of potato pancakes. The crispy pancakes reminded me of hashbrowns, but they were also combined with a little bit of cheese and chives... yum! The only part of my meal I didn't enjoy as much was the side salad. Although it was a generous portion, all four of us thought it was under-dressed, so it mainly tasted of iceberg lettuce with some peppery bites of arugula. However, I didn't let that detract from the otherwise superb meal. The filet mignon was truly the star as expected! Each of us ordered a different cut of meat and we all cleaned our plates. I've also visited once with several work teammates and tried their JaK's Burger ($14). With the patty being 1/2 pound, this is one hefty burger, topped with onion, tomato, lettuce and a red pepper mayo. It was super filling and all the ingredients tasted fresh, although the meat was a bit overcooked. I had requested a slightly pink center, but it was served well-done... nothing to fret over, though! I loved the fries which were thin and crispy - perfection! I was stuffed after eating the burger and took the fries home which made for a delicious evening snack. JaK's is significantly busier during dinner hours, but our server seemed to keep up with the crowd pretty well. Our salads and bread arrived first with our main entrees not too long after. Our waiter checked back with us a couple times, but at the end of our meal, we noticed that our waters were never refilled. This is just a minor observation and we had a wonderful experience here overall. Four steak dinners, along with the automatic 2.5% service charge came to be $200 without tip. My family rarely treats ourselves to a steak dinner at a restaurant since it's something we can easily prepare at home, but those at JaK's are truly prime cuts! My husband and I love going here on prime rib Mondays. It's a $30 meal that includes: -sourdough bread to share at the table -salad with dressing of your choice -a 12 oz prime rib with a potato of your choice (baked, mashed potatoes, French fries, or potato pancake), steamed veggies, and a UFO The flavors and service has been consistent, and we always go back for the prime rib. Salad w blue cheese was the tastier of the group, good sizable blue cheese in there. Now on to steaks. Mine was Delmonico. Well prepared NY style. I ordered medium rare and that is what I got. I like bone in, and using fork and knife to carve delicious meat, so had a feast. Others in my party had Top Sirloin, medium rare and medium. Again, cooked to term. Great options if you don't like bone in. We could highlight the difference on terms very clearly across our table. Waiter recommended potato cakes and they felt home made, crispy, not greasy. Sweet potatoes were also tasty, crisp. Seems the seafood is also good, though it was all steaks for us. Glass of Pinot Noir and glass of Syrah from Pacific NorthWest. Will give an extra star next time if they augment wine options to European, South American wines that go great w meat. Love the focus on good PNW wines, but let's get some more wine options in there. Non alcoholic, bar tender made ginger ale was very well done. For dessert, we had the cobbler and it was sweet, warm, home made goodness. Share it! I know someone had a comment on parking. Wow, no regrets. Jak's was recommended. Reservations were made for my husband's 45th birthday. Dining is casual believe it or not. They have a reputation for good steaks. I ordered the skewers and fell in love immediately. The skewers are prepared with a Mediterranean seasoning and finished with a Gorgonzola cream sauce,,, I ordered medium well. To say it was delicious is an understatement. I chewed very slowly to enjoy every bite. It came with two sides. I chose a salad and potato. My husband ordered the Salmon and it was very soft and seasoned well while allowing the natural flavor of the fish to come through. No it wasn't better than my skewers but was enjoyable. The skewers were on another level. We also ordered the crab cakes. The crab cakes are not a traditional southern style crab cake. They were loose in texture, small in size and did not meet expectations in that department. BUT because it is fresh crab, the price of crab right now and no fillers, it does warrant the cost. No, I won't purchase again because it's not my go to but it was nice try. The server was perfect. She was not over bearing, she was attentive enough, pleasant personality and knowledgeable. Great customer service. The decor is lacking. They have older tables, minimal space and bathrooms need to be updated. The silverware could use a little more attention. BUT for the location, the food and history, the decor is perfect for what it is offering. They are offering a small town feel and it works. I've eaten at Jak's numerous times and they are good if you're into having a decent steak, but they need to up their burger game. I'm not that picky, but when I ask for a burger cooked medium, there should be some pink. Instead, my burger may as well have been a hockey puck. It was way, way overcooked. I don't understand why I can't get a juicy, medium or medium rare burger around here and I really thought, of all the places in Issaquah , Jak's should be able to make a decent burger.
