Definitely was a good pour from the bartender although I think what would have been nice would have been a little slice of pear or something other than just the martini in the glass. Salad was disappointing I ordered: Caesar salad - a little warm, not enough dressing and lacked flavor Petite filet mignon with Oscar prep - the bernaise sauce, crab, and asparagus made such a huge difference. I came here for lunch with a friend, and it was really good. Our service was quite slow, about 30 minutes before anyone took our order. What a great experience. Going in, I don't think we really knew what to expect, but I don't think we had any idea it was going to be as wonderful as it was. Sometimes, when we go to places like this, the service isn't great because we aren't drinking alcohol. It's always a little worry in the back of our heads that we won't matter. That wasn't the case at Jaks. Our waiter was wonderful. Attentive, helpful and kind. First, I'm a sucker for Shirley Temples, and theirs is wonderful! We got the crispy brussel sprouts, and was worried about them being tossed with anchovy, but was happy that they didn't have a fishy taste. The plate was massive and hands down the best brussel sprouts we have ever had. Then my husband got the cowboy ribeye, and I got the steak special, which was three 3oz steaks done different ways. The steaks were amazing, perfectly cooked to the doneness we requested, and were melt in your mouth tender. We also chose to get the UFO(garlic mashed potatoes with a potato pancake on top) as our potato side and loved it! For dessert we got the caramel lava cake, and the chocolate cake with raspberry sauce. Goodness. They were so good! My only complaint, was that the salads that came with our dinner were sad. Lifeless salad greens with flavorless dressing smothering it. It wasn't enough to take a star away, as we had so much other food to enjoy! But we could have gone without the salads. Went there for a small wedding party reception. I'll start with the food. It was good. The steak was very well cooked but the veg and potato were basic. Wine list was great. Desserts looked good although I didn't have any. The service was good. I feel like it was on the slow side but I get that we were a big party and they probably wanted to not only give us time to visit but not to overwhelm the kitchen. It was also very cold inside. After having the opportunity to chat with the management team (Jeff K) and JaK's graciously offering us a significant gift certificate, we returned in what was a tremendously positive experience. Food was spot on, service was even better, with what we have come to expect as superb, interactive and fun. And we didn't just come on any day, we returned on our 25th anniversary, without any reference to past events. We wanted to really see if they could pull it off. And boy did they. It wasn't until after dinner we presented the gift certificate to our server (but made sure she and all the staff were WELL taken care of despite the discount). Beyond the great food and service, though, was the way in which we interacted with Jeff right after the incident, and with the owner (after we submitted the gift certificate at the end of the meal), whereby we were encouraged to share all of our feedback, our concerns, and hear about how the team addresses those concerns in the moment and on an ongoing basis. No BS, not butt kissing, just honesty, transparency, and sincere gratitude for us returning to give them another try. This is EXACTLY how I would expect a family owned restaurant of this caliber to respond. In fact, it was better. Needless to say - JaK's is back for us (business and personal meals) and its great to know there are still some fantastic hometown businesses that can still deliver service and value. read more

From the second we walked in, we felt profiled. We happen to be two young adults with my boyfriend's two younger sisters. We arrived at about 4:25pm tonight 1/22/24 and Erica was our server. At first I thought maybe she was slightly nice, but she was so much in a rush to serve the ONE other table she had, that my boyfriend got a double basil hayden and even though I handed her my ID, she didn't even wait to see what I wanted, I had to tell her "wait I want something too!" Cause she already started walking away. It wasn't busy, it's a Monday night, and regardless, with the prices at this place, we deserve to be treated like any other guests. Our food was awful. The artichoke dip was way over cooked and it was like they took Safeway artichoke dip and put it in a toaster oven. One of my boyfriends sisters asked if they had an adult sized portion of the macaroni, she said no because they come in small portions that are baked in the dish, which in my opinion instantly makes me think of the Red Robin microwaved kids macaroni. I ordered a French dip with pepper jack and grilled onions added, it was barely even room temp when I got it and they forgot my au jus. The burger my boyfriend ordered was supposed to be cooked medium and it was cooked well done. The girls both got macaroni and both said that even Panera had better macaroni. Our server never checked on us. I wanted another drink but between the time we ordered our entrees and the 20-30 mins it took to get our food, we weren't checked on even ONE time. She made us feel like we were bothering her and she probably thought because we were young that we weren't going to tip well, which is why we received garbage service the whole time. I would never return here or recommend this place to anyone and I would hate to have Erica as a representation of my restaurant. The restaurant table was also old and moved around like it was unbalanced. Although Jaks is known for its steak, I was pretty disappointed. The steak came with a baked potato which was supposed to be fully loaded however it had very few toppings, was dry and bland. I have been to Jaks routinely for years, and have never left unsatisfied. There have been a number of changes over the years, some of them, I'm not a fan of- however, the ribeye keeps me coming back, and will continue to make Jaks a regular stop for dinner. We've been going to Jak's for over 20 years, it's always been our "go-to" when we wanted a nice steak dinner. But we might have to find a new place. The way they nickle and dime you here now is ridiculous. The menu has changed several times over the last couple years, prices have gone up. I understand that adjustments have to be made but now they are charging way more and giving you WAY less. You used to get a steak with a potato, veggies and a salad to start, all included in the price of the meal. Now you get a steak and potato, no veggies or salad, and you're paying way more. We went last night for my husbands 50th bday. My son, who is too old for the kids menu, but still a kid, ordered the 1/2 chicken. We asked for just the chicken and some mashed potato's, no sauce, not the cous cous that it comes with, etc. They ended up giving him all of it (no sauce, they got that right) plus a side of mashed potato's. So basically $35 because of the additional $7 for the potatoes which should have been a substitute for the cous cous. I just don't think it's worth it anymore. These are Daniel's Broiler prices without the Daniel's service and atmosphere. We would love to support a local business, but honestly starting to feel taken advantage of. I've been to Jak's in Laurelhurst many times for dinner over the years, and was invited to tag along for brunch at the Issaquah location recently. There were a handful of open tables during brunch hour on a Sunday. I personally prefer the ambiance at the Laurelhurst location better--the AC was on blast making for a chilly dining experience. The hostess and server were both friendly, no complaints there. Being a plant-based person trying to go with the flow, I went with the oatmeal (no milk) served with raisins, brown sugar, and fruit ($9). It was as expected. I can whip up a tastier pot at home honestly, but it satisfied my hunger and was pretty healthy. It would be much appreciated if they offered a non-dairy milk alternative. One of my friend's seemed to enjoy her french toast, and my other friend thought his chicken fried steak was okay. I could come back for social get-togethers, although there are other brunch spots I prefer in the Seattle area for both food and ambiance. We made reservations for a team dinner. It was my first time at Jak's, so I was very charmed by the restaurant and the general neighborhood where it was located in Issaquah. The place was packed for a Tuesday night, but luckily we had a reservation. Customer service was great. Our server was just the friendliest guy, and I appreciated how attentive he was. We leaned on him for recommendations, and he was happy to offer them without any doubts of the menu. We ordered several items to share including bacon wrapped scallops, grilled shrimp, and brussels sprouts. I had a couple of shrimp, which I thought were a bit overcooked since the texture was chewy. I was into the cream sauce that complimented the shrimp though. The brussels sprouts were fine and what I expected. I ordered the grilled salmon, and it was excellent! The fish was incredibly moist and flaky, and it was seasoned well. Typically the dish comes with a carb of choice, but Jak's accommodated my request for double the veggies. read more

My family used to come here regularly before the pandemic, but the quality and care has dramatically tanked. The boneless ribeye was mediocre and the sides were shrimpy. Another great find while vacationing in Issaquah,WA. Always looking for great breakfasts /brunch spots when visiting new places. We always ask the locals what their favorite spots are and then check out Yelp to make our final decision. Well this place did not disappoint. The chicken fried steak is my husband's favorite go to meal and he was pretty happy about this one. The crunch on the breading was great and the flavor of their sausage gravy was pretty darn tasty. This would be a place to try their biscuits and gravy next time. The biscuits were light and fluffy and perfectly complimented the meal. I tried the Sweet and Southern Steak Hash. I wished the potatoes were crispy like my husbands meal but mine had a sweet peppercorn sauce that was poured over. The waitress gave a suggestion to ask for the sauce on the side next time. Not sure if that would help the potatoes since they were tossed O'Brien style with the cut up steak. Overall not bad , great flavor but wishing it had more of a crunchy texture to the potatoes. I have heard of Jak's Happy Hour Breakfast and was finally up early enough to to try it. I probably shouldn't spoil this gem because I literally want to come here every weekend now. Happy Hour Breakfast is in the bar and from 9-10 am only, I have heard of people waiting in line but we walked right in today. Courtney was our bar tender and she was very attentive and knowledgeable. We asked about the breakfast choices and she was spot on with her description, she was so delightful, the right amount of conversation and letting us be to eat and enjoy. My dad and I were excited to meet my husband there after work for a bite to eat but couldn't even dine at a full table because happy hour is only available at the bar top. The menu didn't state a drink was required, yet our waitress said we had to order one--even though we don't drink. Jak's has been my favorite steakhouse of all time since I was a child. The quality of beef is impeccable and the steaks come perfectly cooked every time. The UFO potatoes are on another level so make sure to get them!!! They are hash browns on top of a mashed potato which is absolutely genius. The sourdough bread to start is super fluffy and tart and the appetizer salads are crisp and a lovely start to the meal. As far as steaks go, if I wasn't the sort who makes steaks at home weekly. The steak be an easy 4/5. Since I do know my way around meat, it's closer to 3/5. Jak's used to be our favorite steakhouse but we won't be back. I could understand raising prices or cutting portion size due to inflation, but don't mess with the quality of the food! We used to count on Jak's for consistent quality; perfect for a celebratory meal. But last night was sad. Nothing we ate was up to Jak's old standards. The menu was substantially pared down. It's one page of tiny print that's missing many of the old favorites. The print was so small my husband couldn't read it. Portions were small. The food was tasteless and unappetizing. We started with the artichoke dip. It was bland, seemed to contain no artichoke and had the consistency of cafeteria food. No more salads included with the entrees. My favorite bread pudding is gone from the dessert list. So are the jumbo prawns. I used to order the Moroccan skewers because they were amazing. I ordered them last night because I didn't want a whole steak. Big mistake. I received two sad little skewers of tiny bites of meat doused in sauce with no discernible Moroccan flavor. They were so feeble and unappetizing that I went home hungry and cooked myself pasta. We were puzzled and disappointed by the food experience and left never wanting to come back. read more

I went there the first time in September 2024 and I was there last night. Both times I ordered the same thing and both times the food was wonderful. I had the 9 ounce filet mignon with the baked potato and Caesar salad. Everything was scrumptious. My only complaint about the food was the presentation. For the price, I would think that the food would arrive with some garnish or something, but it's just plopped on a cheap plate and looks unappetizing but is very appetizing. The service both times was great. The first time I went with my daughter, and we sat in a booth and the second time I went by myself and sat at the bar and again the service was very professional and cheerful. For the prices, the ambience could be a little nicer maybe some updating. But that doesn't seem to detract from the crowd that I saw both times. I'll definitely be back. read more

I've been to other Jak's Grill locations so I already had very high expectations going to the Issaquah one - and they did not disappoint at all! After we checked in and waited for our table to be cleared/sanitized, we noticed all the staff appropriately social distance not only from the seated guests but the standing guests as well. When we got seated at our table, the waitress was at our table within a minute to ask us for our drink order - very efficient and quick! 1) Appetizer: Artichoke Dip (w/ Lobster) - O. M. G. This is a must order. My husband and I could've eaten the entire plate ourselves but we didn't want to spoil our dinner. The extra cost for the lobster is 1000% worth it as well. The dip has so much lobster in it, it's ridiculous. 2) Entree: Filet Mignon (Petite) - I ordered the petite size of the Filet. If I recall correctly, petite is 6 oz, which was more than enough for me. It comes with gigantic broccoli and some carrots, along with your choice of potatoes (baked potato, garlic mashed potatoes, potato pancakes, or fries). Delicious! 3) Dessert: Bananas Foster Bread Pudding - I personally don't like banana flavored dessert but this was superb. The salted caramel sauce is a nice compliment to the banana flavor, while the vanilla ice cream tones down on the overall sweetness as well.
