I did not believe the hype about Jak's. No way could someplace so close to home be soooOOOO delish. THEY ARE! Sorry, Ruth's Chris, Jak's is better. You heard me- the beef tastes better. I grew up on a beef farm, not a big gross industrial one- a small grass fed farm with delicious angus and Chianina cattle. So I don't give out big beef compliments unless they're deserved. Jak's beef is delicious, flavorful, moist, and the sides and salads are top notch. Try this place, you'll love it. Update: After my post here a gal from their management emailed me and got my information to get back with me the following day, when they were next open. I was treated kindly and we seem to have the situation resolved. Hopefully all charges will drop off tomorrow. If they don't I have confidence that I will be helped further. This mistake shouldn't have happened and my biggest frustration was not being able to reach anyone for days. Once I was contacted I was happy with the response and I feel that my issues from the charges to the lack of response will be addressed. I am grateful that I was helped and treated with care. I'm writing this because I was charged 3 times for our meal. This is 3 days ago and in spite of calling a dozen times to get no answer and leaving 3/4messages I've not been contacted back. We were charged for our meal twice and ounbrs table once. I was told at the time the extra charges were voided but my bank has assured me they are all final and none voided. I'm just beyond confused and upset that no one will even be respectful enough to return my calls in 3 days. I'll have to dispute this and be out this huge chunk of money till it's gone through this process when the bank said it can easily be reversed by the restaurant. We live 40 mins away from jaks and in traffic it would be an hour at least. The food was good. Not being able to trust the people you hand your credit card to or be assisted in fixing this mistake is a problem. read more

Before, their menu was more extensive, they would give you salad and bread before your steak, with your steak they would give you veggies, potatoes, and horseradish, and it all tasted superb. Now, you have to ask for bread, they don't give you horseradish and salad as part of the meal, and the steak is smaller. They also changed their, what was once amazing, garlic mashed potatoes recipe, but now it just tastes like butter. The price can't be justified anymore. Why fix something that isn't broken? Jak's has made changes to their food that's disappointing. They've changed the way they make their garlic mashed potatoes, as well as their scampi-style prawns. The prawns were served on a flat plate with a smidgen of garlic butter sauce instead of the standard oblong deep-dish, so you end up with a very dry prawn. Not good. And the garlic mashed potatoes, well, they're using a different type potato than they used to use and they don't really taste like garlic mashed potatoes anymore. Also, they've changed their menu. They've switched to something akin to a fine-dining restaurant, where you have to order your sides separately. And they did away with their signature broccoli and carrots side, which were always so good. So again, why fix something that isn't broken? We've been there twice now since the changes came about and I'm afraid we won't be going back. Used to be our go-to place for special occasions but alas no more. read more

We have been coming to Jak's for fifteen years and are HUGE fans. Tonight was our 2nd time back since Covid. Service was great and drinks and steaks are wonderful. We were disappointed with the new version of their Mac n cheese. Last year the waitress said that "no one likes it" and it was disappointing tonight to hear that they haven't changed back to the original delicious recipe. Cheaper and easier to make this way? It's a low grade Alfredo. Skip it. It's not in the appetizer menu anymore just a side, and it's clear they don't want to make it for you. Our calamari was under fried, bread service while warm was dry, lettuce was heavy on big stalks, and portion size on the skewers has shrunk. I don't mind paying a little more now for the same great meal, but you pay a lot more, and get less. Kind of a bummer. read more

I have been here several times with customers. It is always really busy and crowded so make sure to make reservation. Not a huge restaurant and the bar gets really crowded when your waiting for your table. Each time I have gone it seems like even though I do have a reservation you still wait like 20+ minutes. I had a group of 6 people. Everyone ordered steak and everyone enjoyed. I really liked the appetizers especially the artichoke dip and brustle sprouts. No desserts for any of us. What a great spot! I had heard about this place for awhile, but since I don't make it out to Issaquah much...never got a chance to try. When my husband and I were contemplating a recent date night, I figured might as well make the trek and try it out. So glad we did! As others have mentioned, they don't take reservations. We popped by around 5:30pm on a Saturday night to put down our name. Then went to a couple local bars (there are plenty of options in a couple block radius) to grab a drink and hang out. They texted about an hour later and we went back. I love that all their dinners come with bread, salad, veggie and potato. I went for the steak skewers and they were cooked perfectly and super tasty. They were accommodating too with my request for no potato and instead more veggies. My husband loved his Delmonico steak and baked potato side. The portions were good sized and we had plenty for dinner the next day too. Oh and their coffee was strong and delicious too. Our server was pleasant, the food was great, I really can't think of anything they could have done better. The atmosphere was nice without being overly stuffy or fussy. This place was packed at 6pm on a Monday night and stayed full until 8. You better have a reservation if you want to get in. The hostess was super friendly and had us wait for a few minutes in the bar (which was also full) while our table was readied. I had the steak tartare which was bland. It needed seasoning and capers to pull it together. Meh- I wouldn't order it again. I had the 15 oz sirloin with the Cowboy rub. It tasted great, but my steak was over cooked. No dessert- way too full for that. Unfortunately it was a struggle to get ice water. The waitress said the ice machine was broken. Strange because the bar seemed to have plenty, and when I suggested she could get some from there, I got attitude. Maybe someone could have picked some up from the store? If I'm paying over $100 for my meal, ice in my water shouldn't be a big deal. As we passed our waitress on the way out there was no "Thanks for coming in" or any acknowledgement of us being there. I LOVE Jak's. Whether it's for lunch, HH, or dinner! The ambience is always nice and I love the dark lighting. The Issaquah location is close to where I grew up, so I have most of my Jak's memories there. If you come for lunch on a weekday, there usually isn't much of a crowd. I personally love to get their skewers for lunch as they're nice and filling. The steak is cooked to your liking (always medium rare for me), they drizzle some really amazing Gorgonzola sauce and there are sun dried tomatoes mixed in. My HH go to is usually they're super cheap ($7!!) cheese burger! The catch with HH is that it's first come, first serve at the bar. At least the Issaquah one is super tiny and there isn't much room for you to comfortably eat and socialize. But if you happen to get there RIGHT AT 4, you may luck out. Other catch is you must also order a drink at the bar. Never a problem for this gal! Dinner--- my soul is so happy whenever I order the medium rare petite filet Oscar style! SOOO good. I love that it includes; a side salad (always go for blue cheese), asparagus, and your choice of potatoes (garlic mash is what I get! But you can order potato pancakes as well as a few others I forget). Had this for dinner last night and I'm still thinking about it. My husband and I were in Friday night and although the food and service were superb, I feel compelled to express how uncomfortable and disappointed I felt while waiting for our table. We arrived early for our reservation and were seated at the bench in front of the bar until our table was ready. While waiting for our table we witnessed an interaction between whom we assumed at the time was the manager or supervisor and a server. The manager (who we later learned was the General manager after asking a nearby server) was yelling at another employee so loudly and disrespectfully. She made such a scene to the point where the other folks sitting beside us on the bench also looked and made a comment. When I inquired with another server, they said that wasn't the first time its happened. We are long time patrons of jaks and if this is how they choose to treat their employees then it is grossly inappropriate. Highly dissapointed. read more

First time at this establishment. The service was great, the people were helpful. The place had a relaxed atmosphere. However, the bone-in ribeye left a lot to be desired. I learned of the "chef's preparation" which was an outstanding addition. But, the steak was difficult to cut through, very chewy with a fair amount of tendon and fat. I don't mind the fat, but when trying to cut through it and chew it, that was the real disappointment. I know I should have mentioned something at very beginning, but I was hopeful it would change and after half way through it, I had to stop eating it. I provided feedback to our waitress, who was very kind throughout the meal and when I told her of my experience. I really wish I had said something earlier. Other than steak being underwhelming, I am glad the rest of my party had a good dinner with their different meals. The bad bone-in ribeye complaint seems to be across several reviews. Perhaps the Head Chef and GM need to rethink their supplier. read more
