Can't help but eat too many of the complimentary nachos because the salsa is tasty if in the mild side and a bit runny. Tried the spinach quesadillas from the appetizer menu. Tastes good, not great, with a good portion of sides this is an easy split with up to 4 others. Won't repeat if solo but would be fine recommending if with others. Had a single soft taco with asada. Balanced portion of meat and onions, the meat was well seasoned, and the soft shell tasted good while still being strong enough to hold it all together. Would repeat. When I was younger, my family used to go to this corner Mexican spot every Friday, for birthdays, casual lunch's or just for good food. It was even my sisters first job at this place. This restaurant was our home they were apart of the family. Jalisco Mexican restaurant is exactly the same feel as a grew up. They are warm, welcoming and the sweetest people. You walk in, they know you by name, they make jokes and you're already laughing by the time you hit the table. Besides the amazing customer service, the food is delicious and big portions and the drinks are on point. To say this is our place we got to every week is an understatement. It is hard to find Mexican restaurants with colorful pops of color and decor. In a good way, this restaurant brought me back to the 90's and early 2000's with tequila bombers, huge fiestas, quinces, and waiters that really cared. It's like the Mexican version of a wisecracking Italo American in NY. I loved hearing the comeroderie between the waiters and locals and with themselves. It looked like a place where staff had fun. This vibe translated to the atmosphere. I tried the lunch special for $15 and had the pollo asado. The beans were delicious. This was the highlight. The humble frijole was cooked well and the care and spices really came through. The chicken was a generous portion and I could hardly finish it. Everything else was pretty general such as the rice and salsa. The warm tortillas tasted store bought. But hands down, service and atmosphere a 10. I'll return to try other dishes and I'm giving this restaurant a 4. It's local, it's fresh, and it takes the grimyness from two blocks away away. I'm not a big fan of Mexican food, and don't have much Mexican food experience so this is just my very subjective view. I had beef carne asada. It came with four pieces of tortillas. Rice was good, it's seasoned but was bit pale to me. Beef flank tasted good too, it's savory. I ended up wrapping the green onion with beef, it's so perfect. My friend picked this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. My gf ordered the most recommended carne asada, my friend got the beef fajitas and I got the pollo en la crema. Carne asada is muy delicioso. Beef fajitas is above average. But the pollo en la crema is not what I expected, it was not that creamy and the chicken breast was not tender enough. Six members of our family group celebrated a birthday at Jalisco. While the food was quite average, the hospitality was outstanding. Menu prices were moderate and portions huge! Our birthday celebrant received a yummy ice cream sundae dessert in a taco bowl with a lit candle and multiple spoons to share as this dessert was smothered in whipped cream and caramel and chocolate sauces. Even the fried shell drenched with the fillings was delicious. Along with this complementary BD treat, the staff gathered to sing the birthday song; all very festive. Margaritas ordered with our brunch were traditional and also a fresh fruit version. On-street parking was ample at the time we dined and the restaurant was not crowded. We love this place, and it's our daughters favorite. Our family usually celebrates everyone's birthday here because they make it extra special (sombrero, dessert and song). We always capture an 'embarrassing' photo for the kids ha! It's similar to Red Robin's where it's not the best we've ever had, but it's still really good; and very reasonable. It's a cozy restaurant with low staff turnover. We've seen the same servers for about 7 years now. They are consistent with their delivery and staff are extremely friendly; great with kiddos! Friday nights are usually busy, yet the food arrived quickly! I'm watching my weight, but enjoyed the skinny margarita, and dish with grilled Chicken breast, pinto beans, grilled veggies and rice. My husband and I have been grabbing takeout from here for years. Our house is just a block away so it has always been ridiculously convenient, and absolutely delicious. I'll be the first to admit "stay-at-home" mom life is far more difficult than my corporate career, so on the rare occasion we don't have childcare for a period of time I definitely could use a trip out of the house and a margarita. I texted my husband on a Friday afternoon and said "let's go out to Jalisco with the kids. I need a drink." All three of my kids are on the spectrum and can be pretty high maintenance, so he was understandably surprised. We walked with all three kids the few minutes to Jalisco on a Friday evening at 5 PM and were immediately seated. The waitress we had was understanding that we immediately wanted to order for our kids, and spent a lot of time talking to and playing with them while they had the short wait for their food. The manager, who I recognized from grabbing takeout in the past made several trips to the table and made sure all was good, while also engaging my kids, making them laugh and bringing them more chips so I could suck down an adult beverage in peace. At the end the waitress told us we had the best behaved kids she'd ever seen, which made me actually want to hug her. Five peoples dinners, a beer for my husband, two extra large margaritas, and a 30% tip and we were out in under $150. Delicious food, family friendly environment, and the kindest staff on the planet? I am genuinely so shocked and disgusted at my experience here. I have dined here before in the past and enjoyed my experience so I felt like coming again with my family. When I had arrived not only did the food take over 40+ minutes to come out even after only ordering 2 things, our quesadilla was cold and soggy? Who knows how long that was sitting out for and if it's even safe to eat? This was ridiculous and the staff didn't even put any sort of compassion or thought into this situation. After just ordering rice and beans after this incident the pico that came on the side had a long black hair in it. That is so gross and disgusting and not once did anybody bother to say sorry or have any sort of remorse into this. The booths and floor has a weird smell too which completely make this experience worse. I'm just completely flabbergasted at this service and how this place even has customers! My mom took me here for early dinner after a recommendation she received and it was incredible. The food was absolutely delicious super fresh and piping hot! I had a spicy margarita which was refreshing and strong. My mom had a strawberry margarita which she really enjoyed also- I tried it and it was the perfect balance of slightly sweet but not over the top which is perfect. I had the mixed fajitas with shrimp, chicken and steak which was on top of super delish veggies that included mushrooms. LOVED every bite i could manage and took plenty home for later. The chips and salsa we started with was also great- authentic and fresh. My mom had seafood enchiladas and really enjoyed them also. We have been very pleased with the food, ambiance and service. Their polo chipotle is the signature dish! It is so good! Not to be missed! I am cutting off one star because the last time we went we got horrible service. The waiter didn't get us our drinks, forgot our cutlery and messed up our order overall. One thing I've noticed is that they prices seem to have gone up, overpriced like most of lake city way places are, it seems. The food is great, but the organization fee are that of a higher scale restaurant. We had seafood enchiladas, which are amazing, my favorite for a long time, and this place makes it perfectly! The Camarones Jalisco was good as well, but the shrimp was a bit overly cooked. The service was good but very slow compared to how it's been in the past, and that with a pretty empty restaurant from what I could see. Overall, the food is very good and the restaurant is nicely decorated. I wish I could dine here more but for that price I rather dine at other places. I placed an order to go for our family. I explained I'm allergic to avocado (and guacamole). When my husband arrived, the avocado was on several items.
