WOW! First time at Jameson's Southern Cooking and I felt as if I was at Mr Jameson's home! I ordered the half rack of BBQ ribs, collard greens and of course macaroni and cheese. When I say that the ribs literally fell off the bone.. I really, really, really mean they did! The collard greens were seasoned to perfection and the mac and cheese delish! The service was very hospitable and the baseball game was on! I am extremely busy and rarely have time to make myself a good meal. Recently, I find myself at Jameson's almost every week, in my opinion they are #1 for a warm, hearty meal. It's been a while since we came here and things were still as good as we remembered! The place was empty when we stepped in for an early dinner, but it quickly filled up by the time we finished and left. Daughter had the Smothered Legs and Thighs with sides of collard greens and Mac and cheese. She loved it. The chicken was fall-off-the-bone soft. Hubs had the Fried Catfish with sides of sweet potatoes and green beans. He loved his meal as well. I had the Smothered Pork Chops with sides of black eyed peas and rice and gravy. It was tasty but the park chops were a little hard. We also ordered banana pudding and got it to. It was very sweet but delicious. It was so good that I never got a chance to take a picture of it! Jamesons does a good job of providing tasty southern fare at reasonable prices. But there's one gem on their menu - the oxtail. They give you big, fat pieces of tail that falls off the bone and melts in your mouth...it's incredible. read more

AMAZING!!! So glad I found this gem after a fun beach day with the girls! The ribs were falling off the bone and covered in tasty bbq sauce. It's also pretty cool you can order a combo in case you're stuck making a solid entree choice. The fish is pretty good, as well as the yams and cornbread. My boyfriend and i went there and we had a great experience. The owner gave us both water for free and talked to us both. The lady working there was really nice too. The food is really good i love the sweet potatoes. The chicken is really good. My boyfriend got the whiting and he said is was good not over flavored and you really taste the fish. Found Jameson's by accident, a very happy accident! We got a nice cross section of the menu, except for the fish dinners which we plan to return for. Our family of three ordered 1. pork ribs which fell off the bone, covered with great sauce, flavorful, home style, soft and cheesy mac n cheese and creamy, tender black eyed peas, to which we added some hot sauce that included in our bag 2. the chopped beef which was nice small pieces, tender with the right amount of fat, and the same sweet tangy sauce as ribs, rice and gravy which needed a little S&P, but with a silky smooth texture clinging to the rice and the mac n cheese and 3. chicken fingers which were crispy with nice breading (not too crunchy for his braces!) with smooth mashed potatoes and gravy and mac n cheese. For sharing we got a 4. fried shrimp dinner, they were nice larger sized shrimp, maybe 21-25's, definitely breaded in house, not a pre-breaded commercial product, those smooth mashed potatoes with gravy and collard greens, the tender collards are very straightforward, not a lot of tang or heat or smokey turkey/ham hock flavor. We ordered lots of desserts too, chocolate layer cake, cheesecake, lemon cake, red velvet layer cake and sweet potato pie. We couldn't finish our generously portioned dinners, so we haven't touched the desserts yet, but they look homemade for sure. Oh and the corn muffins, which had just come out of the oven, yum! The owner, Mr. Bob Jameson, was gracious and friendly. I have no clue why anyone would say otherwise about this man. The reviewers who said otherwise must have some sort of personal issues. Both boyfriend and I ordered the fried chicken with sides of mashed & gravy and mac & cheese....We were both thrilled with our dishes and with the Tuesday and Wednesday "Buy one dinner get one 1/2 off" you really can't beat it. This place is hands down the best soul food I have eaten in all of NJ. I had the fried fish with Mac and cheese and my girlfriend had the fried chicken, Mac and cheese and yams. Both orders came with cornbread. I live all the way in North Jersey. I came here because I love some food soul food but not everyone cooks it right. When I got in the car and opened my container, I nearly fainted because it smelled so good. I tasted the Mac and Cheese and nearly died AGAIN. I made my girlfriend get out and go get me another side order to go AND an extra piece of cornbread because that definitely was on the MONEYYYYYY. Not only was the food amazing but the hospitality while waiting for our food was amazing. They said an half hour and I was in there for 45mins. The owner seen that it was taking long and he gave us a bottle of COLD POLAR SPRING WATER not the shoprite brand for us on the house. This place was just amazing. My husband and I were spending our honeymoon at Ocean Grove . We were in the mood for some soul food and after getting lost we finally found the restaurant. The restaurant is very casual. The waitress lacked people skills. She was not very welcoming and looked tired. I ordered the chicken and ribs combo with mac & cheese and potato salad. My husband ordered the fish & shrimp with mac & cheese and collard greens. The chicken was good, juicy and not greasy. The ribs were good also. Potato salald was great and the mack and cheese was ok. The corn bread is actually a corn muffin. It would proably would have tasted better if they provided butter on the side. The fish was thin and overfriend, The shrimp was burnt and they only gave him three pieces!! For dessert we ordered the lemon cake(very good), sweet potato pie( very good).
