Was very busy on a Sunday but i didnt mind. the food delicious. Didn't try the coffee.

This has become one of my local go-to spots. I love that it's a converted California bungalow. There's different places to sit in the front backyard and inside as well. On a nice day (which is most), I prefer hanging out on the front patio, but the front window is also a great little nook. The food options are exactly what I would want for a every weekend breakfast/ brunch spot. They have some egg dishes, sweets, sandwiches and then the nice add are the Korean options. I've had the standard breakfast with eggs, sausage, bacon and pancakes -which is exactly what you would expect as well as the bibimbap which was what I was hoping it would be to hit the spot. Will definitely come here again and probably quite often. It's never too busy, service is wonderful, easy parking and very relaxed. My kind of vibe for a Sunday morning. read more

The brunch is great but the Jane at Night (korean food) is AMAZING!!!!! How many authentic korean restaurants do you know around here? Me neither!! The late night menu is great for family style. The wine choices are excellent and pair well. In my experience, the late night experience is a lot more intimate. With only a couple staff members attending to us, they do a great job at making everyone feel welcomed. It is very rare that my children request that we return to a restaurant. The restaurant looks like someone opened up their home to the public. You can sit outside or inside. I like the fact that there is a fan outside to cool patrons down and a water dispenser. The inside was very inviting and quaint. You order at the cashier and sit to wait for your order. The menu is pretty extensive. It lends itself to being very inclusive. I asked for a recommendation, as I could not make a decision. I decided on the Huevos Rancheros, and I was not disappointed. Wow! It is very rare that I do not need to add hot sauce, which they have two varieties of. The eggs were cooked to perfection, nice and jelly. The chili was so perfect. It had enough spice and not overwhelming. The portion size was perfect. One of my kids had the Jane's Burger. He was absolutely quiet. He did not say too much because he was too busy devouring the burger. He said that the blue cheese balanced the burger perfectly. He does not eat tomatoes, but he said that the tomato was the perfect thickness for the burger. He asked me to make Jane a regular treat place. Another of my kids had the Spinach salad. She loved the vinaigrette and had to request extra. The portion of chicken on top of the salad made me full just looking at it. My other child had the Classic Burger. She could not finish it and had to pack the rest away. Usually, she asks if she could just eat the patty and not take anything home. Nope. She opted to take the rest of the burger home, including any lettuce left on the plate. Both kids who had the burgers had garlic fries. If you do not order the burger, you should get an order of the garlic fries. The fries were amazing! They were crispy on the outside and airy on the inside. The flavor was so good that one finished the whole order, and they other saved it to take home. The Jane Omelet was cooked perfectly. It was fluffy and filled with all sorts of goodies. The avocado on top balanced the omelet. My parents ordered the Tres Tacos. There was so much meat on each taco. My mom did not finish her guacamole; so, my daughter did. My daughter had to finish her drink before finishing the guacamole, as she wanted it to be the last taste in her mouth. The drink menu was also amazing. The Mint Lemonade was so fresh. The iced tea was so fragrant. The hot honey citron ginger tea was perfect for my daughter. I highly suggest the dirty chai. The spice was perfect. I read that there was R&B and Jazz music. However, there was music that my parents knew, oldies but goodies. That made the experience even more pleasant. The staff is helpful. I felt like they were friends who opened up a restaurant together. I will definitely bring my family back. read more

Been here a couple times and I have to say the price for the quality and amount of food you get is not satisfactory. This is the prime example of gentrification within Highland Park. Visited: 2025-03 Orange French toast $16.75: I was eager to try this as several yelp reviews were positive about it. Unfortunately they burned my French toast a bit. The orange topping was just ok for me but when I tried it with the French toast, there was a bitter note to it that I didn't like. I won't be getting this again. 2x2x2 $16.50: I really enjoyed this. The bacon was the thicker, tasty kind. The scrambled eggs were also good. The pancakes were nice & thick too. The potatoes were just ok though. Overall: friendly service. Most people probably come here for brunch (which is great btw) but if you want some comfort Korean food that heals you, then you need Jane @ NIGHT! Imagine your friendly neighborhood Ajumma cooking dishes for you like soondubu (spicy tofu stew with seafood) or galbi (marinated grilled beef short ribs) plus hot steaming white rice and a variety of banchan, and you're not even in K-Town! Of course don't forget the Lil Kimbap which is of the mayak kimbap type with the addictive spicy wasabi/mustard sauce. Usually I have to go to Arcadia to get that but this is in my freaking neighborhood?!?! SIGN. ME. UP! This cute lil bungalow on York is easy to miss but honestly you can't go wrong any time of day. Yes it's a house, for those who have probably driven by it and not notice this place. Jane before was only open for brunch hours and now they have a evening hours for dinner. Wednesday-Saturday 5-9pm. Came here to celebrate our dear friend graduating and getting his PHD. We had wide spread of different types of foods, I think we practically ordered the whole menu. Everything was delicious and the service was amazing. Seafood pancake the green onions gave it a great sweet flavor. Dumpling had a nice meat flavor inside. Kimchi fried rice didn't have too much kimchi flavor. Spicy pork was pack with so much flavor and huge servings. Chicken wings were spicy but the daikon that they serve with it leveled out the spiciness. Galbi you can't go wrong, good and not that sweet, more savory. Kimichi pancake had tons of kimchi flavor and if your looking for that. Jane burger was juicy and huge as well, you can taste the blue cheese, bacon, and tenderness of the meat. Went in for a pick-me up matcha latte and left with the saddest cup of $6 whole milk with some green bits at the bottom of the cup. Come on now! Otherwise I generally love this place. First time here for brunch. Ordered the Chorizo Huevos Rancheros, Mushroom Rice Bowl and Decaf Almond Milk Latte. By far, the huevos rancheros was the standout dish primarily due to the quality and seasoning of the chorizo and the perfectly cooked egg. Maintaining a subtle crunch and yolky finish in every bite makes this dish so damn good. Would definitely reorder. Surprisingly, the mushroom rice bowl was just ok. Heavy on rice, light on other ingredients, there are far better options out there. But you will need to hit up K-town, Artesia or San Gabriel. Overall, a good first meal. Nice shaded patio seating in front and back. Great for dogs. And nice to see a converted cottage home tucked away and put to good use on York. Decided to have lunch here to catch up with a friend! Cute little house.... not a very good area I personally would probably only go for breakfast and lunch not anytime without daylight haha. I have been a fan of Jane's and their sister restaurant, Tickle Tree Cafe, for many years now. If you are looking for a delicious breakfast or tasty sandwich you can't go wrong with anything on their menu. To be honest, they have two of the best burgers in LA. I eat A LOT of burgers so you can take my word on this. This was my first time trying the new Jane @ Night menu. From 5-9p Wed-Sat, they change their offerings to an amazing array of Korean Dishes. We ordered the Karaage, Seafood & Green Onion Pancake, Sweet 'n' Spicy Sticky Party Wings, Spicy Pork and Army Stew. The wings in particular were incredible. I love a good crunch when biting into a wing and these delivered. The Sweet 'n' Spicy sauce they are covered in live up to its name and tastes delicious. Everything we tried was bursting with flavor. I have to go back and try more items off the menu. With their fantastic service, plentiful coffee bar and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, Jane's is a MUST for anyone wanting a special meal. read more

My friend and I decided to grab a quick bite after our little hike and found this place on Yelp so stopped by. It was a bit difficult to locate because it looks like a completely normal house from the outside. Went in and got their Ssam Bap which is like a lettuce wrap with a bit of rice and topped with bulgogi and mushrooms. The bulgogi was super well marinated and flavorful as well; perfect balances of sweet and savory. The whole dish was really well put together and everything paired well. The lettuce was fresh and crisp and made the dish filling but refreshing. The pickled cucumbers in the center was a great side dish to it too! We also got an order of Orange Fresh Toast for a little sweet tooth fix. We were intrigued with how well the orange would work on the french toast since it's usually super acidic, citrusy and sour. But it surprisingly worked super well, wasn't super citrusy but light. You definitely tasted the orange but it wasn't overpowering which I enjoyed. Great service and wonderful ambience! I ordered an iced oat milk latte, a side of morning potatoes, and the classic french toast. The coffee and potatoes were great. As for the french toast, it was good but not my favorite. They use challah bread (I am team brioche when it comes to my French toast!) and the crème brûlée mix they use to make the dish makes it a little sweeter. My friends in Highland Park recommended it and it didn't disappoint. At the time of the review 4/11, they're still observing COVID PRECAUTIONS: - You order at the counter which is right at the entrance up the steps of this house :) - There was hand sanitizer in case you needed it and the menus were actually laminated for easy wiping down but the menu is only found at the time of ordering OR on their website too :) - there were also signs clearly stating you needed to wear a mask, and their staff were wearing theirs - they were some tables at the front of the house and plenty of tables in the back of the house and they were space accordingly and most of them actually had a nice little tends to shade you from the sun FOOD: - Chorizo Huevos Rancheros were delicious!! I went to see a friend in Eaglerock on a visit to Los Angeles. York Boulevard has this quaint craftsman home which has been turned into the small café. They have outdoor dining in what would've been the front yard. At this time because of Covid restrictions, they are taking orders at the front for take away or dining in the front patio area. First let's start with the coffee. I like dark roast French roast etc. Jane's coffee was just dark and delicious. And they had raw sugar to add to it and cream. Excellent. The cream was small containers of half-and-half which were individually packaged. I ordered the barbecue chicken salad and my friend had the chorizo and eggs breakfast. Both were excellently prepared. My friend did remark that he had never had chorizo eggs quite like it as far as the way that it was served, but he remarked that the flavor was excellent. My barbecue chicken salad, came with tomatoes, corn, black beans, onions, bit of cheese, and a delicious creamy cilantro lime dressing. There were chunks of chicken on what looked like a bed of romaine and mixed greens. It was topped with finally sliced tortilla strips that were crispy and gave it a little bit of extra crunch and texture. I can't wait to go back and try an egg dish. Usually Jane's is completely packed at least it was a few months ago when I went down to Los Angeles and visited with my friend. For that time we were in a bit of a rush for lunch and so we passed. Now that they have re-opened due to Covid restrictions, it's quite accessible and you should certainly not pass them up if you get a chance If need a hearty breakfast or a sweet lunch. It's in a cute renovated house turned restaurant in Highland Park (street parking only) and it's a little hard to pin down why we like Jane so much. I think it's mostly because the food tastes so much better than the ho hum descriptions. My first dish was a roasted vegetable salad which was loaded with a great variety of vegetables. Since then, we've also tried their breakfast quesadilla that overflows with eggs and bacon, and our fav breakfast dish, a chorizo huevos ranchero. It's more like a layered tostada with fried tortilla, a delicious chorizo, onion, tomato, green pepper mixture, and a fried egg on top! it's the best huevos ranchero version I've ever had and a must order. For example, $5.25 for 2 slices of (room-temperature) bacon is too much. $16.25 for Classic French Toast (w/ strawberries, bananas, cinnamon, real (but cold) maple syrup) would maybe be an ok price for my large plate of food, except somebody didn't quite get the cutting board clean so there was a noticeable taste of onion somewhere in my serving. I've had Jane bookmarked for a while, so when my friend suggested brunch, Jane was one of the first spots I thought of! Jane is located in the ever so popular Highland Park, so be prepared to look for street parking! Residential areas right behind, so it shouldn't be too difficult if you're willing to walk. You order up at the counter, grab your number and seat, and someone will deliver your order to you. The menu was a little overwhelming, but the kimchi fried rice caught my attention. My friend ordered the orange french toast and we shared the breakfast potatoes. The fried rice was packed with flavor and lots of spam. Sounds simple enough, but there was something indescribable about that fried rice that had me so hooked. I got to try some of the french toast and my was it delicious. Never had orange on a french toast, but the citrus did a great balance to everything else on the plate. The breakfast potatoes were really crispy, but they were a little saltier than I was expecting. Nothing too special about the potatoes. I would definitely come back again and order a different brunch item and some coffee. I've eaten here several times over the years. Love the setting and the vibe but the food is always just okay, never as good as you want it to be, so I'm usually not too quick to return. But...having just seen the 1-star smear review that someone posted for the new cafe across the street, one written by someone who has never reviewed any other restaurant before but who suddenly chose to post a smear review of a brand new little upstart cafe; a review that explicitly recommends that people should go across the street to patronize THIS established competitor instead--I don't think I'll ever be back again. The owners may or may not have had anything to do with this--could just be a "well-meaning" friend of theirs trying to "help" them out in a very misguided way--but regardless, it's not a good look for Jane. The tactic really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Even worse than the so-so food. read more

Solid breakfast. We drove past it once and didn't recognize Jane as a yellow house transformed into a restaurant. The parking's a bit hard to find but look for street parking or park a street south of the restaurant in the residential area. I would have could have given Jane 5-stars until my coffee experience at the end of my meal. There are seats inside and out, walk up, order and take a number. The food comes out pretty quick. French Toast on brioche bread with banana and strawberry topping was solid. My chorizo huervos rancheros was delicious. Fresh OJ and the hot coffee were good. Mind you the cup of coffee was like $3.25. I didn't give Jane 5-stars because I finished my coffee and went up to the cashier in front of 2-3 people and asked if they refilled coffee. Nope, $1 for coffee refills. $1 is nothing for a refill but it was the principle of a breakfast restaurant not refilling a cup if Joe for free that was my gripe.
