This is hands down my favorite spot in the neighborhood. The Kimbap tastes just like it was freshly made at home--it's not too salty and has a very clean, healthy flavor. Beyond the Kimbap, their rice cakes (Tteok) are incredibly soft and delicious, and I also highly recommend their Dosirak (lunch boxes)--they are packed with care and flavor. I realllllly love this kimbap place, more than all the newer ones that have recently surfaced. My favorite is the avocado kimbap, it comes with odeng so it's not just a veggie kimbap; my other favorite is the spam kimbap. I think this place just reminds me of my childhood especially with the aluminum foil wrapping. I've tried to come to this place multiple times in the past but always came too late or their food was sold out for the day. I made it a point to drop by early when I was in the area and very glad I did. I can see why this place is a favorite for local Koreans and why they are so busy. This is a mom and pop store so don't expect the grandest of places but that's the beauty of this place. They have great lunch dosirak options with some side banchans there. I ended up getting a couple of different kimbaps which were an amazinggggg price. I haven't seen another place that does an avocado kimbap! I also grabbed a tub of spicy marinated octopus since it was such a good price. The woman there was super friendly. She made my kimbaps fresh and even threw in a free seaweed. I enjoy all their gimbaps. I like that they don't put too much rice to filling ratio. They have something for everyone. I like that they open super early for days that I need to grab a quick lunch for me and the family on the go. You can call or text to order the day before and have it ready by a certain as well. They also have bento box lunches as well for those that like a variety of Korean foods. The store looks a little run down but it always looks clean. read more

Amazing first experience here this morning! Even though the owner was busy, she answered all my questions and was extremely attentive. She was so very generous in her service to both me and my mom. The avocado roll had huge chunks of avocado and was absolutely delicious. I normally hate SPAM kimbap but hers was the most delicious I've ever had. She cooked the SPAM and seasoned it I think compared to others where they normally don't really cook it. We also bought a bag of frozen mandoo that we will try later. The rice cake from Korea that was originally frozen and later thawed to eat was delicious. I stopped by Heartfulmade at around 7am the other day. I was totally surprised that they were open at that time and was excited to try them out for the first time. I ordered a bento box and few various types of rolls. Absolutely loved everything and could tell that ingredients were very fresh. The lady at the register was very friendly and even walked my order to my car (SO SWEET). Alot of the items sold here I would pack for a picnic or even lunch for work. SO YUMMY! "Hidden gem", "hole in the wall", "mom n pop", you name it, it applies. This place has all the hallmarks of a really special, specialty (Korean take out/ lunch aka doshirak) joint: 1. You have to phone in the order before the lunch hour rush because they always run out. 2. It's a Korean joint that serves primarily Koreans. 3. Did I mention that they run out of goods to sell? Very reminiscent of the cream pan hype a decade back, the right move here is without a doubt the 'pork belly and kimchee kimbap' (its sushi roll Korean style minus the raw sea proteins). BEST KIMBAP!!! I am not Korean, however I love kimbap and this is what I would imagine a Korean mom's homemade kimbap would ideally taste like!! This shop randomly popped up on my list when I was searching for lunch in the Fullerton area, and I am so happy it did!! It is a small Korean shop with kimbap & lunch boxes for sale, along with frozen foods & miscellaneous snacks. I always call when I'm 10 minutes away so that it can be ready by the time I arrive. The Korean lady who is always there is so sweet & friendly. Last time, she gave me free peanut snack! I've tried the spam kimbap, fish cake kimbap, tuna kimbap, & fish sausage kimbap. The first 3 are definitely my favorite! They include: meat of choice, rice, seaweed, pickled radish, egg, organic carrot, organic sesame leaf, & sesame oil, and sometimes burdock. I think they run out of ingredients so they won't have the burdock sometimes. They usually run out of ingredients by 1pm & can't make any more food, so make sure to call ahead to check! There is one ingredient that I can't decide if I like or not, I believe it's the sesame leaf. It has a very interesting bitter-ih taste. Sometimes I like, sometimes I don't, so just a heads up haha if you try it and don't like, you can always take it out or ask her not to include next time. Each roll comes with 8-9ish pieces I think? Something like that haha. I always get 2 of the cheaper rolls for lunch, which add up to $9.50ish. Look for the heart shape finger signage in a small plaza right on Commonwealth Ave. I bought 4 rolls to try. (Avocado Veggie, Tuna, Fish Sausage and Burdock Veggie) You get about 7-8 yummy medallions per roll. All were delicious, but my fav was the Avocado Veggie. Prices are affordable too. Came back again for dinner. They were nearly sold out at 7pm. I was able to get their white rice with spicy squid/shrimp n veggies (outstanding!). And also their tuna kimbap (very good, comfort food). On top of that she was kind enough to give me some banchan while I ate there (stir fried fish cake, buchoo kimchi and garlic stems - SO GOOD!). The service is always kind and generous. Will have to try to get there earlier. As I am already a huge fan of their spicy pork lunch bento box. read more

This place is tucked away, (and it better stay that way) a lot of the kimbap sells out fairly quickly, and for good reason! When I went I was able to get the Spam roll, as well as the fishcake and spicy fish cake. Let me tell you... These were GREAT! The rice to filling ratio was perfect, the ingredients fresh and simply seasoned yet so tasty all together. I had never tried fish sausage before but really liked that it was included in the fish cake rolls, it added something I had never tried before and I really enjoyed it. The light sesame oil on top added a nice nutty fragrance to each bite, and the inclusion of the kkaetnip was nice! It added a little zing to it! Hopefully I can come back at a time that a better variety of rolls are available! The price is not bad, especially with H-Mart down the street raising their prices on the kimbaps , or the amount of fillings it really evens out! read more

Omg. Bacon?? I've never had or seen bacon kimbap until I walked into this place. Such a wonderful place! Super clean. Super friendly lady working there. She was able to speak English and communicate everything I needed to know and answer all questions I had. Very reasonably priced. Much better than H Mart in price and quality. I don't even want to compare. It's like when people compare Pizza Hut to places like Fuoco pizza. Just can't do it. Both the bacon and angus steak rolls were delicious. All the ingredients inside were proportioned perfectly and she did not skimp on the meats. Not sure how she can make any money to stay in business? But I hope they do! She was open on sinda I also bought a bag of frozen kimchi dumplings for $6. They are handmade in the store. I guess it's a restaurant (?) but seems more like a store because everything's packaged to go. I can't wait to try that. She also did a great job packaging up my items. You can really tell she cares about her food and how it's presented and that it is enjoyed! And in this case, it was...! Bacon???! Update- tried the kimchi dumplings and also tried pork. They are both good! However, be warned that the kimchi is spicy! She warned me when I bought it that the kimchi would be spicy, but I don't mind spicy things and sometimes figure people just say that. But this was actually spicy! I liked it tho. The lady who works the cash register and phone is SO SWEET! Also, I was surprised that the prices were lower than what the photos were showing (not sure if this is due to COVID and slow business). The lady was so kind and even gave us a box of rice rolls on the house! They are definitely taking COVID precautions seriously, she even wiped our credit card with a disinfecting wipe before returning it to us. This shop also has all kinds of kimbaps; I've only had the big chunka beef kimbap and the marinating beef one...I prefer the marinating beef. Lunch for less than $20 for 2; I'm coming back in a few days. It's in a small strip mall diagonally across from the USPS on commonwealth, close to Gilbert. Dude, this small hole in the wall place rocks. They make various Korean DoShiRak ( Bento) and Korean gimbop (seaweed rolled rice with various veggies and meats). They mainly do made-to-order and you must now place order the day before. So tasty, so full of favors. I sometimes just stop by before noon, hoping to pick up whatever is left over but all gone most of time. Few times I got to try, they were always awesome! They are closed by noon usually. Their samgyupsal kimbap is amazing!!! I ordered tuna mayo and it was as good as the other kimbap. It comes with spicy mayo on side! I have to say all the ingredients are fresh and organic. Tastes so fresh and i have to say its the best kimbap i've had in OC. So clean and NO MSG! It is freshly made and i recommend you order thru phone before picking it up. This place is very popular!!! The staff workers were all wearing masks and were very busy. The staff is sooooooooooo nice! I think she was the owner. Three cars were waiting in their car to pick up their order. I was craving Korean food but since the quarantine no restaurants are available for sit down. I came across Heartful Made on Yelp. What caught my eye is that I love the bento box style meals they offer. I like how everything is included especially the sides. I called to place an order, I spoke with a nice woman that gave great customer service. I wanted to order Bulgogi but they were already out for the day so I ordered the Spicy pork. I also wanted to try their kimbap. I asked her what she can recommend and she suggested to try the pork belly kimbap which I ordered. BENTO box comes with main dish (Spicy Pork), rice and bon chan (kimchi, egg omelette roll, potato salad and fish cake). Everything was delicious! The Spicy Pork had so much flavor, spice level was on point with added jalapeños. Kimchi was so good, definitely home made not store bought. Definitely recommend spicy pork!! Kimchi with Pork Belly Kimbap was also good! First time trying, I've only had the pickled veggie kimbap. This was on another level! Thick crispy pork belly, home made kimchi, veggies and sesame leaf was very unique! I've never had anything like it and now I'm a fan. This in itself is a meal! So satisfying!! Heartfulmade is a great place to get food that tastes like a home cooked meal. My husband had picked up a pork katsu dosirak , spicy tuna kimbap and a 3-lb bag of frozen mandu. Pork Katsu Dosirak: the pork katsu was delicious and pretty crispy. I love how the dosirak comes with an array of deliciously flavored side dishes. Everything was good and I'd definitely get this again or try another one of their dosiraks. Kimbap: the spicy tuna kimbap was also good. It's simple, but is loaded with flavor from the fresh ingredients used. Mandu: I am a big fan of plump dumplings, so when I saw my husband bring these home I was very excited to try them. We steamed the mandu for about 10 minutes, which was perfect because they didn't get overcooked. I love how the dumplings were very flavorful and juicy. It seemed pretty nutritious too with all the vegetables mixed in with the meat. I think(but am not sure) there's also tofu inside. Whatever it is, it tastes amazing! Give this place a try! OMG!!! Best Korean food I've ever had. The flavors are authentic and fresh. It's a small shop with only a old lady and a chef. They made the food in 10 minutes or less. The service was great. She's just a Korean old lady bustling about. They're BUSY. I love the sides (except the kimchi since it's a little bitter/sour for me). The meat variety is decent. They have spam, tuna, fish, pork, spicy pork, beef bulgogi, etc. I love the little shrimps and fish cake. I don't like the sesame leaf but I just took them out. It's... like a bitter mint. The portions are definitely not going to feed an adult to satisfaction but it's something light. I recommend a lunch box with a roll or two. I 200% recommend. I had actually come across this place on a few apps a while back when I wanted some kimbap but it ended up in the back of my mind for a while until yesterday when I was able to get a few kimbap rolls from them and they're quite great! The quality is really awesome! Only really got their food delivered, but from what I can see, it is a very small hole in the wall type spot with rather short hours only open till lunch time but they have an awesome variety of stuff you can get! One day, may head over to the shop since it's rather close to a favorite market spot Arirang Supermarket, but for now, this impression I got from their kimbap was great. Can't wait to try some of their other "bento" or doshirak lunch boxes, but I was able to get the tuna / fish cake / spam rolls (2x each roll) and they were so good and filling. The surprise of the sesame leaf wrapped in each roll was quite nice too. I really recommend this place as a bit of a hidden gem since these sorts of Asian spots with lunch boxes and simple comforts are not super common nowadays and I hope that they continue to make such great items. Very very excited to try their other items in the future and take photos of them too since it all looks really gorgeous as well. I see they seem to have daily specials which is a favorite aspect of mom and pop style Asian spots so I really do need to check it out, haha! She gave us an extra avocado roll (what business savvy) to make it worth our while. Everything was good (I wouldn't say amazing, but it was solid - if you like Korean food) and definitely super healthy. We both got the beef bulbulgi (sp) because the shrimp cakes were not available. It was spicy, flavorful and filled our empty tummies. I was craving kimbap randomly but I had a bad experience with the grocery store bought ones ie. Zion/H Mart so I was glad to find this place on yelp. I decided to try it out because they have even more options than you would find at other places, that go beyond spam and fish cake. I came in around 1:30 on a weekday and it wasn't busy at all, however there was just one lady working out front. She was super friendly and showed me the different menu items. I admit this was a nice surprise, as a non Korean, the treatment I get from the workers at H mart really makes you not want to even step inside the store. I decided to go for the pork belly kimbap. I was pretty surprised at the size of the roll and everything was made fresh to order. The leaves inside were crisp and the pork belly was tender and not too fatty. I can get quite a big appetite but I found the portion just right and actually felt full from it. At $6.50 for the roll, I'd say it was reasonable and it did come in a reusable container. Overall, I'd definitely come back if I was craving fresh kimbap and probably try the different meats next time. read more
