I have been coming to this place since before they became Jaragua's. The food has always been the same, delicious, and tasty flavors that it has been since back in the days. The pupusas are made fresh to order. Platanos are so great to eat when they come out warm. Salpicon is great for sharing as the meat is finely chopped and so much flavors. Pan con pollo is another go to dish we tend to get. Overall anything you order, I'm sure you'll enjoy. The staff is quick, friendly, and very attentive. I love how big and spacious the dining area is. They have a rear parking lot which is awesome but we usually find street parking. read more

This establishment deserves less than a one star rating, for their service and food quality. I ordered a hot drink and it never arrived to my table after receiving a pupusa with visible hair. The server did not apologize or seem surprised. Don't waste your time and money into this establishment. They don't care if you find hair glued to one side of your pupusa. Clean little salvi spot. We just ordered palomas for drinks, and yuca with chicharrón to snack on. The drinks were basic, dive bar style.Honestly feels like they've never made them before. The yuca and and chicharrón were good BUT goddamn they for sure skimping on the chicharrón. Lol. 4 chicken nugget sized pieces of chicharrón. Yuca and chicharrón were good with the curtido I guess. Hi, I was there Saturday 3/22. Veronica was my waitress. She tends to add extra fees to you bill, beware. She added and extra coffee and charged me an extra $4 for salsa ranchera, which cone with and order of huevos/eggs rancheros. I catch the coffee and didn't question the salsa charged however I call today and she herself stated the total with taxes was only $17 and change. I got charged $20 + taxes. read more

We ordered pupusas and steak and shrimp plate. The steak/shrimp taste delicious. The beans and rice had a great flavor that were delicious even the next day I ate the leftovers. However, their pupusas are some of the worst I had. They were very dry, not a lot of taste to it, felt like eating a dry tortilla, and when I asked for a to go box, I was giving a tiny container to squeeze all my leftover food. I was not happy with that, but I would definitely go back for their steak/shrimp and maybe try other items. read more

I had the seasonal bacalao dun dried fish cake for lunch . This is an Easter staple for non-meat eaters on Fridays. The thing looks like a chile relleno but with fish inside (no pepper and no cheese to my analogy). I had these when I was a kid as grandma would buy the dried up salty fish and sun dried it some more. The fudh here is plain fish ad in fish and chips. Sauce on top in garbanzo beans and some curry thing. Rice on the side and green salad -- I asked for Habanero hot sauce. How was it? Passable ~ I ordered a torreja for dessert -- it's like a french toast soaked in cane sugar syrup. This is also a seasonal staple. They had ran out of Suprema and Pilsener. The bar does not open until six pm. This was lunch. Parking ok but had filled up and place was half full. Service was friendly and nominal. Overall, I told my friend this experience took me back to my childhood years, especially since the Novel Jaraguá was my favorite by Napoleon Rodriguez Ruiz and I won't spoil it for you which is a must read. The torreja was also passable. Took half home. The ambience is average and the seasonal prices within range. Nothing spectacular but nothing amiss either. Restrooms are smelly but so are toilets. Had coffee and I wished they would have offered the Salvadorean kind (Coscafe, etc). My less than full rating is due to lack of some staple items. Would I come again? I ordered Pupusas to go; 2 chicharrón con queso/ pork and cheese, 1 ayote con queso/squash and cheese and 1 revuelta con todo/ pork, cheese and beans. They were extremely greasy, the cheese was rubbery and tough. The ayote con queso/ squash and cheese was almost all cheese had very little squash, definitely regret ordering that one.I asked for extra tomato sauce but I think the lady brought me one of the older ones and it was no longer good bc it smelled a bit sour tasted a bit funky and dead give away was that the lid was puffed up which happens when it's gone bad. The tomato sauce that was packaged with the food was good, smelled like it should with no funky taste but was lacking flavor and was super runny, almost water like. Place looked clean but it was not busy, music was cool not too loud. For $4.99 per pupusa skip this place. So disappointed! Never again. They took forever to bring our to go order. We even decided to get a table and order a Michelada while we waited. That even took forever. We were there almost an hr and when we got home, the pupusas got cold so fast. We live three blocks away. They use the regular Monterrey jack cheese, nothing authentic and the yuca chicharron was so dry and burnt. Honestly this place isnt the best Salvadorean restaurant its been hyped up to be . The food was good! But the service wasn't. After Atlactl closed, we have been looking for a spot for pupusas. We order pastelitos for an appetizer and we never got them. Our food took so long, once everything arrived we asked about the pastelitos, and the server said their was a confusion in the kitchen and they sent them to another table. The first time I ever had a pupusa was from this fine establishment and many years later, they're still the king. I've tried many pupusas and they just don't do it for me so I'll gladly drive the 20-30 minutes to get my fix. My go to meal is the loroco (It's a green vegetable native to El Salvador according to me googling) and cheese pupusa. The cheese mixed with the slight bitterness of the loroco is heaven. It's pushed to even greater heights with the condiments of pickled cabbage slaw and tomato water (Don't know the exact name) that are always served alongside. The other thing I always get is the Chipitan tamale. It's a bean and cheese and oh so good. It's so different than other versions of tamales I've eaten as their version is in a banana leaf and it's incredibly soft. I'd almost say it's custard like in nature. One thing I'd say is that their new menus don't have tamales listed on them but you can certainly order them as I always do. I just don't want new eaters to miss out. Even after all these years, it's still a bargain to eat there and I highly, highly recommend it. read more

Took a group of friends here and everyone really enjoyed it. It's a very spacious and clean restaurant. Service is on point here and we got all our food in a timely matter. I had the chicharon pupusas since I don't eat cheese, and they were delicious. They're a pretty big size so I actually got full with one. My friend got the revuelta and loved it as well.
