Enter **Jashna**--a restaurant that has truly mastered the art of charging Michelin-star prices for microscopic disappointment. ### **The "Appetizers" (Or, The Micro-Portions)** * **"Guava Sorbet with Papdi" ($16):** Let's call a spade a spade: this was literally basic *Chaat Papdi* that had been kidnapped and forced to wear a fancy suit. It arrived at our table shrouded in a massive, dramatic cloud of liquid nitrogen. But once the theatrical fog cleared, reality set in. For sixteen whole dollars, we were greeted by **exactly five 3-inch papdis** awkwardly standing guard around a sad dollop of guava sorbet and a desperate smear of chutney. It tasted completely average, but hey--at least the smoke had a great personality! * **"Paneer Trilogy" ($16):** True to its epic name, this dish delivered a grand total of **three tiny paneer cubes** measuring a breathtaking $1.5 \text{ by } 2\text{ inches}$. I respect Jashna's ambition to match the portion sizes of a 3-star Michelin tasting menu, but unfortunately, they forgot to match the quality. * **Avocado Tikki ($16):** Once again, we received a whopping three pieces. At this point, I think the chef's favorite number is three and their favorite price is $16. On the bright side, this actually had flavor! It was the lone survivor in a sea of culinary sadness. ### **The Main Course & The 3 AM Sequel** If you're a vegetarian, bring a backup snack, because the main course options are severely limited. We ordered Naan, Kulcha, Dal, and a Saag whose fancy name I've mercifully blocked from my memory. * The **Kulcha** was drier than a desert breeze. * The **Saag**, on the other hand, was drowning in so much butter that my stomach was still violently reminiscing about Jashna at 3:00 AM--despite the fact that I went for a 45-minute desperation walk immediately after dinner just to jumpstart my digestive system. \### **The Verdict** Can Jashna do better? Honestly, God I hope so. But until they trade the liquid nitrogen fog machines for actual food, I'll be getting my $16 meals somewhere that doesn't require a magnifying glass to find the main ingredient. read more

We went there last week on a Sunday for our anniversary dinner. Overall I think it's a one time experience. I don't think I would return back frequently, even though the food was good! Sharing this feedback, as I feel they can sincerely improve on the service! Pros- the food was really good. Three roots chaat and Vada Bao was exceptional. The decor was very stylish and in good taste. Bathroom super clean. Cons- Service extremely terrible, 1 star!! We were seated promptly, but nobody showed up for 15 minutes. The restaurant was not busy there were plenty tables still available. We had to go talk to the manager. By the time we ordered appetizers, the server reminded us that the kitchen closes so we should order everything now. Felt very rushed especially when they had delayed taking our drinks and appetizers order. We ordered two curry's between the three of us (2 adults 1 kid). Yet, they offered a complimentary veg main course( corn kofta shishito pepper curry). However, the curry had no pepper ( as I had seen in the photos shared by other users). It didn't feel like a genuine gesture. It was a lot of food for us. They could have offered a dessert considering they had asked us earlier if we are celebrating anything special. I also saw them taking small dessert for tables that were celebrating birthday or something special and it did look like it was complimentary. But nothing was offered to us which is ok as they did offer an extra curry. While we were still finishing up our mains, the server came with our dessert order and started making it. ( the rose kulfi experience). We had to request him to come back in some time. The servers started cleaning up our table, placing all the lamps behind our couch while we were still eating! Extremely annoying and felt like super rushed even though it was only 9:30 by the time we finished and left. They close at 10. For the price we paid, service was completely sub par and worse than a regular Indian restaurant. read more

As a general rule, when an Indian restaurant starts heavily advertising "fusion," proceed with caution. This place takes classic Indian dishes and unnecessarily reinvents them in ways that completely lose the soul, balance, and authenticity of the original cuisine. Many of the dishes they chose to "modernize" appear to be beloved North Indian staples, yet the reinterpretations feel disconnected from the flavors and traditions they come from. For example, the "Saag Burrata" - clearly inspired by saag paneer/palak paneer, a deeply loved Punjabi dish - was a complete miss. Replacing paneer with burrata sounded trendy on paper, but in reality the textures and flavors simply do not work together. Instead of rich, comforting saag with the chewy and milky freshness of paneer, it turned into a bland, melty, flavorless mess. The vada bao was genuinely awful and unpleasant to eat. Easily belongs to the hall of shame. The roti and naan were dry and forgettable. And distorted dishes like the avocado tikki and Gatta pinwheel just make you wonder: what in the world and why!? Overall, the entire menu felt like an overpriced culinary experiment mostly on North Indian dishes by chefs who are clearly not from that region. I found classic North Indian dishes being disrespectfully fusionized for novelty rather than enhanced with culinary talent or care to be rather offensive. Creativity is great when it respects the foundation of the cuisine. Here, it mostly felt forced and disconnected from what makes Indian cuisine in its truest form special in the first place. read more

The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, with an elegant and inviting atmosphere that immediately sets the tone for a great dining experience. The service was fantastic from start to finish. Jashn is hands down one of the best Indian fine dining experiences I've had! The food was absolutely incredible. The Goat Chops were the star of the show--they literally flambéed them tableside with rum, setting them on fire right in front of us ! The presentation was unforgettable, and the taste was even better. The meat was tender and perfectly braised. The Rose Kulfi dessert was pure magic. Our server made it right at our table using liquid nitrogen, dunking a real rose into the nitrogen and crushing the frozen petals into the custard.
