Was craving breakfast for dinner and this hit the spot, though not as quality as Franklin Street Cafe in RWC, but this is a great no frills spot for Menlo Park. - Taste: yay-ish - Value: yay - Service: :) but slow - Ambiance: eh $10.95 for the chicken avocado omelette.. add $0.85 for egg whites and the waiter was kind enough to a variety of other veggie substitutions. TLDR: Nothing fancy here, but a mom and pop joint in menlo park with solid and cheap-ish food. read more

I was looking for a solid breakfast place and J Cade knocked it out of the park! They have all the favorites, from Benedict to chicken fried steak to amazing omelets and skillets. I will definitely be coming back. These folks have figured out that there's a real lack of solid, well made breakfast cafes left in the Bay Area. Portions are big, but not overwhelming. If you're looking for a see and be seen spot where you can post your ridiculous looking Bloody Mary with a fried chicken sticking out of it on IG, this isn't your place. If you're looking for a outstanding breakfast, you're going to be happy. read more

Love the food, but it's pretty messed up that your hours say that you are open until 3PM but when I arrived at 2:20, your servers motioned through the window that they were closed. That's messed up. Update your hours and stick to it. That being said, I will still go here because I like the food. I will just make sure to get here early. read more

Should have taken a picture of my food but let me tell you it was great portions. Definitely filled with flavor and fresh ingredients. The service was fast and super friendly. The last star would have to be because of the music. I would add soft music to the place. With or without it I'm looking forward to coming back. Great café, I highly recommend the food here the service is outstanding. Everyone has a smile and ready to help... The building is clean. The bathrooms are nice, fantastic experience. After Eye-ing this place for years, finally, I went to try it today :). The parking lot only has about 12 parking spaces so I parked in the lot behind Frosty Freeze..honestly I don't know if it was "legal" to park there but I thought since it was a Sunday, and other businesses looked closed, it should be ok. The diner looked dingy both inside and outside and it was a bit surprising to see the Asian men tending the host table. Later I realized, Jason's is an Asian owned diner???!! interesting, I thought :) I was sitting for a good 15 minutes before a waitress came to take my order. There were three other men working on the floor but they keps passing by my table as if I did not exist, it was a bit weird! I ordered the pork chop breakfast plate that came with two pieces of grill pork chops, a side of potatoes (you can pick country style or hashbrowns), three eggs (I chose scrambled) and toasts. The portion was large and the $10.95 price tag was on the low side considering the large portion and location (menlo park). I also ordered a single bacon pancake ($4.95). The food came out very fast! I got my pancake less than 5 minutes after I placed my order. The buzz boy/server also came by twice to refill my coffee which I thought super nice considering I wasn't too happy that it took them a while to ignore me and not take my order. Now, the food, the pancake was large but I must say that I was dissapointed that the bacon lacked the smokey flavor. I was actually guessing if either they use too lean of bacon cut meat or not-good-quality bacon as the bacon really just tasted like tough-stale-pieces of dry meat. The pork chops were a bit too dry and the eggs were overcooked. I prefer eggs to be a bit softer and not as well done. I would like to try their french toasts and crepes, they looked good (I spied other's tables lol). One plus at Jason's is that they have COMBO menus that allow indecisive people like I am to just have almost all items lol. They have combo that comes with pancakes, french toasts, eggs, sausages or bacons. usually, it only comes either with pancakes or french toasts, if you know what i meant. read more

A good place for brunch. We came in here for the first time and am quite impressed and surprised by this hidden spot. We were seated pretty quickly though it was packed. The place boasts of a huge menu. We ordered the Jason's special Eggs Benedict and the Strawberry waffles. No complaints, the portions were pretty huge and the tasted good. The latte I ordered was served in a huge mug! The service is a tad bit slow but overall a decent spot for food. Will be back whenever I am in this area. read more

This place is everything you want in a breakfast place. The menu has all the classics. I find a lot of breakfast places are trying to put some strange spins on things and this place just strives to the traditional stuff and does them well. My eggs were cooked perfectly, waffle was crispy but soft inside. The hash browns were crisp on the outside and melted away on the inside. They also have country potatoes, if that's more your style. Not only was the food good but the place is clean and new and the staff was friendly and attentive. They come around to refill your coffee and our food came out in a reasonable time. Parking is limited but there is street parking. read more

Jason's is a solid no-frills place to get your grub on in sleepy Menlo Park. Don't come here expecting fancy bougie brunch; this is classic diner fare served in hearty portions and let's be real, that's something that a lot of us crave from time to time. Hey, I won't judge you if you like your brunch bougie as long as you don't judge me for liking my brunch basic. If your preference is the former, remember that Palo Alto's right next door :) I stopped here for a big breakfast prior to a 50 mile bike ride (what can I say, I'm a masochist in more ways than one). The blueberry pancakes were fluffy, the toast was well-buttered, and the pork chops were mighty juicy. Fully carbed up and well-sated, needless to say I left a very happy man! read more

I got a gift certificate here from one of my students, I didn't have enough time to dine in, but ordered to-go. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. I wasn't to sure about this place at first, because the parking lot looked so-so. Hey at least I didn't have to park in the garage right? I walked in and found this place looked super cozy. The menu had a great variety of good to choose from. The food was great, staff was friendly and offered water while I waited! Love it here!!! read more

Great food! Sure it looks a little run down, but you know what, their food is delicious! I give props to the cook! I had a breakfast plate while my mom had a sandwich/lunch plate. The waiter was on top of his game. He made sure we were comfortable, and had everything we needed. I would recommend this place if you are in the area! But like I mentioned before, it is a bit run down on the inside. But when you look past all that, you will definitely enjoy the food. I myself was a little hesitant, I thought I made a mistake when I walked in that door, but I thought what the heck! I'll give it a try. And I'm honestly glad I did. Great food and great service! And to be honest, I think others may agree with me because it started to fill up fast in there by the time we were leaving. read more

Menlo Park seems to have an abundance of excellent breakfast/brunch places. My go-to favorite here is the bacon pancakes. Huge pancakes with lots of bacon! We've also tried their harbor crepe, which come with crab, as well as Jason's omelet. All very generous portions. The menu is surprisingly broad for what looks like a typical dinner from the outside and after reading some of the reviews on the dinners, I'll have to come back and try those, too. read more

Jason's cafe is, well, alright. The food definitely doesn't impress. My quesadilla was watery, another persons' was too, and the other person's skillet was not bad. The problem with Jason's is that it doesn't have anything great. There's not really a reason to go. Except for our waitress this Saturday. Esperanza was incredibly friendly, personable and kind. She knew my family extremely well, and had their drinks ready to go as we walked in. She's the reason we went. If you're really close by and don't want to drive anywhere else, give Jason's a try. It's about in line with IHOP and Denny's. Otherwise, I'd go somewhere else. I find that often when restaurants have a large menu, the things on it aren't so good. This is a perfect textbook example of that. read more

When we were seated, we were asked again what the occasion was, so we were expecting perhaps a small birthday gesture or acknowledgment. Unfortunately, nothing was done for my birthday, while we noticed the table next to us received a nice birthday gesture. It was a little disappointing, especially since the occasion had been specifically mentioned. As for the food, there were definitely some hits and misses. My mom ordered the chicken sandwich, but the bread was extremely over-toasted. When I took a bite, it was so hard and sharp that it actually cut my gums, which was definitely not something we expected. On the positive side, the salmon and truffle fries were delicious and probably the best part of our meal. However, while they were good, I wouldn't say the food overall was quite at a 5-star level. Overall, I think this restaurant has a lot of potential. The setting is gorgeous and the ambiance is beautiful, and our server was kind, but the lack of attentiveness and some issues with the food made the experience feel more like a 3-star visit for us. I would consider coming back, but I would hope for a more attentive experience and better attention to the small details next time.

I absolutely love discovering mom-and-pop restaurants, and Jason's Cafe is definitely a hidden gem! We stumbled upon this place while grabbing coffee at Andy's and immediately noticed that most of the customers were regulars. The restaurant is quite spacious, with plenty of seating available. I ordered the Fisherman's Sandwich, and it was delicious! The crab cake was incredibly flavorful, served with tomatoes and arugula on a soft roll, and topped with Thousand Island sauce. The sandwich also came with a cup of their house-made clam chowder, which was creamy and packed with the fresh taste of clams. My boyfriend ordered one of their skillets, and while he said it was tasty, it was served on a regular plate rather than a hot skillet, which would have taken the dish to the next level. read more

HOWEVER, our experience was RUINED by two ***millennial breeders and their demon spawn.*** ALL restaurants should have a room or a partitioned space where breeders with young...puke...children can all be together and the rest of us can have a calm and peaceful dining experience.
