I have been to different Javier's locations but my newly discovered favorite is the steak quesadilla. The meat was so tender and delicious. The lobster enchiladas was just ok. It really lacked the lobster flavor. The Margueritas were exceptional. They are made pretty strong so take it easy. read more

This new location did not disappoint. The ambiance here is amazing - it almost makes you forget you're in DTLA. The restaurant is also bigger than you would expect. Food was amazing!! Everything came out fresh and delicious. Drinks were some of the best I've had at any of their other locations. The service was also top notch! Refills were quick, plates were cleaned up right away, and the waitstaff was always available and checked in frequently. Shout out to our waiter Daniel - super friendly and attentive! Notables: Tamarindo Margarita - highly recommend! It was soo good! I could probably drink those all night! Enchilada Suizas - my go to order. So much flavor and the chicken is super moist. La Tabilita - this is a good choice if you have a lot of people or are really hungry. The menu says it feeds 2, but it comes with a lot of food. We had the steak and carnitas. The steak was very flavorful, but I wasn't a fan of the carnitas - it tasted a bit dry. Parking - there is valet parking in front for $45, but there's also a lot of parking lots around within a few block radius. I live around the area so was able to just walk, but if I had to drive, I would choose one of the uncovered lots nearby. Much more reasonably priced and the walk is easy. I'm definitely a Javier's fan. I literally tried all the restaurants in country and even in Cabo. I must say that this is the best one thus far. It is gorgeous inside with beautiful decor and enormous space. It has only been open for four days and I was happy that I came back into town and saw that they were open. Also, it was the best way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. I ordered the enchiladas suizas with chicken that was soooo good!!! Which I forgot to take a pic of. However, I always get the seafood enchilada trio or the combination plate with a hard shell chicken taco and enchilada but today I tried something different and I actually was very satisfied. For my drink I ordered the black mamba. And oh my God the black mama was great and of course I had to try because I am definitely 100% a Kobe Bryant fan. I mean it makes sense also because it is located right next to crypto Arena formally known as the Staples Center . I will highly suggest this drink to try once you get here.. it's worth it. Well, let me not forget the main importance of my experience, which is the Customer Service. I did like how we did not have reservations, and was able to walk in and be seated right away. The hostess was very nice, and our server was really nice and I forgot our main server name but he was training a lady named Valerie, which was her first day and she was amazing. They both were great together working , and they told us that we needed to know about the drinks even how it was made and the ingredients, and which is the best drink to order. I always get the expresso martini or margarita but today I wanted to try something different since this was new. I wanted to try something new on the menu. Also, the manager Oscar was phenomenal. He went around and checked on us and see if we needed anything, and I did like how he was very amicable, and made sure that everyone was satisfied with their dining experience tonight. I recommend that individuals try this new, Javiers located in downtown LA it's more than amazing vibes. It is the spot to be very good, very upscale, and modern. Just FYI, the only thing that is a bit insane is a valet parking which is $45 and mind you they only accept card only no cash accepted, so keep that in mind. I recommend parking valet if only there is absolutely nowhere to park or if you want to be safe since it's considered in downtown LA . But they do have parking literally around the corner next to the Moxy hotel for $20 I believe, so I suggest that as well, especially if you're going in daytime. Gotta try this new Javier's !! My experience was exceptional! My reservation was for 8 people however I had 2 extra ladies show up. The onsite Manager Oscar took care of us with a "no problem"! He said I have a semi private room to accomodate you. I was so pleased. Our server Lamar handled every request and order perfectly. He answered all questions professionally as well. I went to the new location in downtown Los Angeles to try out the new Javiers. It's beautiful out of all the Javiers I've been to this one is the best. They have beautiful decor, that's modern and upscale. Great service. They have been open for only (3)days and all the staff was so nice. The place is vibing with good music and the food is good as usual. Another negative is that the parking is costly. It's $45 to park valet and that's with a validation. That's without validation it's even higher. Additional parking is parking located around the rear of the restaurant for $20. read more

Beautiful restaurant, deplorable service and management. Our party arrived at 7:30, server barely tended the table. No introduction, no order of service, didn't ask about appetizers. Took her an hour to come and take our food order and about another hour for the food to arrive. Yes our food did not arrive until 9:22 after having to ask about it. After flagging down our server all she had to say was the short ribs takes 40 mins... A few of our dishes were incorrect and instead communicating, being apologetic or approaching with a solution our server ignored us all night. When the manager Gonzalo finally comes around he argues with us about the dish. I've served for 10 years, I've never seen a manager argue with a patron about what they ordered... This is all in addition to dirty glassware, sides not coming out, and exceptionally slow service. Worst part of it, it was a friend's birthday and we didn't even get to order dessert or sing happy birthday. Definitely have to give corporate a call. read more

I've recently had two solid experiences at Javier's DTLA during weekday lunches, both after 1PM, seated at the bar with different clients. The vibe was relaxed, the music at the right volume, the service attentive, and the space only half full. The Old Fashioned was on point, and while the food is priced at a premium for middle-of-the-road Mexican cuisine, the overall environment, upscale, elegant, with a beautiful crowd, made for great client-facing moments. I left both times thinking, "This could be a great spot to bring my wife and some close friends for dinner." Unfortunately, the dinner experience didn't live up to those expectations. We had a Saturday night reservation and came in with the mindset we usually bring to fine dining spots in Pasadena or Beverly Hills, a place to slow down, connect, and enjoy. While our server did his best, the pace of the evening was rushed. The food quality was consistent with lunch (just okay), but the ambiance was drastically different: loud, fast-paced, and geared more toward a flashy, younger crowd. It made conversation between four adults difficult. Besides that you might feel out of place with the evening crowd, when you are used to a more sofistaced environment, what really sealed the decision not to return for dinner was the valet situation. The sign reads that Javier's validates, but when you step outside, you're met with a $60 charge, and told that's already the validated rate. The valet team clarifies that they're not affiliated with the restaurant. It's a small detail, but it shapes the overall impression. We left before dessert and made our way to the Arroyo Chop House back in Pasadena, where we were greeted with calm energy, excellent service, and a booth ready for us, topped off with a perfect Grand Marnier soufflé and quiet conversation. That contrast made the difference clear. To be fair, I'll still recommend Javier's DTLA as a lunch spot for one-on-one client meetings meant to relax and disconect from the daily grind during the week. Sit at the bar, enjoy the ambiance, and you'll likely leave pleased. But as a dinner destination, especially if you're seeking something slower-paced, refined, and conversation-friendly, I'd personally look elsewhere. I went with my family (4 of us) to the downtown location this past Wednesday at 5:30 for dinner as we wanted to experience Javier's here locally. We usually go to the Las Vegas location as we travel there quite a bit and make it a tradition to always go to Javier's in Vegas. Wednesday at the downtown location the food was good but the complaint is that when I got my check the waitress told me she added the tip which was 18%. I would not have minded but we did not have a party of six as there was only four of us and the service was sub par as we had to waive the waitress down a couple of times to get water refills. My question is what justification did the waitress have in adding an 18% tip automatically. I have a copy of the receipt which I will attach. read more

My steak tacos had a lot of fat and came out cold. There were no sides included; another minus. The esquite (street corn) was delicious as an appetizer. Only bottled beer, so that was another disappointment. Prices for a regular bottle of Modelo were a bit much. The interior is beautiful and hip, but the food and drinks were disappointing for the price. The house margaritas were ok, but overall the food does not match the decor. The server disappeared a few times and maybe had too many tables. Had to ask repeatedly for additional drinks instead of her picking up on the empty bottles and glasses on the table. There was a Laker game too so it was very crowded and we had to park a few blocks away, which was another 30 bucks. Not worth the hassle in the future if we come back. read more

Very disappointing experience at Javier's Downtown LA. We had a 9:00 PM reservation and were seated around 9:15 PM. We were the first table seated in our section and ordered promptly -- drinks and food. I ordered lamb chops (medium) with mashed potatoes and asparagus. My husband ordered a taco plate with rice and beans. Despite ordering first, we waited over an hour without receiving our food. During that time, the section filled up with guests who arrived after us, and they received their appetizers and entrees while we were still waiting. A different server even attempted to deliver food to us at one point -- but it wasn't our order. Our server did not check on us, walked past our table multiple times, and when we finally asked about the delay, she blamed it on lamb chops "taking longer" because other guests ordered enchiladas -- which is not a valid explanation when we ordered first. It became clear she didn't even remember our order, as she repeated it incorrectly before realizing her mistake. By nearly 11:00 PM, we still had no food and asked to cancel and only pay for drinks. The manager was polite and apologetic and removed one round of drinks, which we appreciated. However, when the check arrived, it included items we never ordered, requiring yet another correction. There was no sincere apology from the server for the excessive wait, confusion, or billing error. This experience was unacceptable and far below the standard Javier's is known for. We frequent the Century City location and have never experienced anything like this. I hope this location improves its service, because this visit was handled very poorly from start to finish. read more

The carne tampiquena steak was severely overdone, and a replacement was not brought until long after the plates were taken away, table cleaned, and I had to follow up. The shrimp taco for the cabo azul never was brought out, and we had forgotten about it until after the meal. The server seemed to be confused or unaware that the "ahi" ceviche contained tuna fish. There were no apologies or offers to resolve the inconvenience, but we still left a customary tip amount, on top of the separate and very generous tip for the bar staff. We never have had these issues at the Newport Beach or Irvine locations. Do a better job with the service. read more

Not worth the hype! My niece got a stomachache from their lamb chop. I ordered the lobster enchiladas and only ate a portion because it was less than impressive. I've had better at local Mom and Pop shops. This was not worth the hustle of driving to Downtown LA, and paying $35 for valet. Coming into Javier's the setting is very luxurious with low light setting. Perfect for the first date to have a couple drinks and one delicious meal. Food (9/10): I personally got the steak picado as shown in the picture. I enjoyed the food and finished it all, in which it filled me up. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection but needed a little more flavor. I enjoyed the chile paired with the garlic rice, as someone with Mexican culture I did enjoy the food and it brought me back home. Service (10/10): The server was really sweet, making sure we were attended while trying to serve others as well. Overall the food came out a little later then expected but with about 100 people in the restaurant I don't blame them. We had refills of water when it was half way or less, asked as well if we wanted more. Ambiance (10/10): I was able to celebrate my cousins birthday and enjoy some nice pictures with her and my family. With the low setting lighting it was a little harder to take some pictures but when you are enjoying the moment. I dined here on Friday January the 2nd celebrating my best friends wedding anniversary and let me tell you NEVER again the management well to be more specific one of your managers named Gonzalo and a few of the waiters made this the worse experience ever. What started as a fine and great experience turned into the worst during Dinner. To start things off my friend ordered the Birria and he received it cold so he simply asked them if they could warm it up which was cold. My other friends asked for his medium well it was medium rare and he didn't want to start anything so he ate it. I ordered the crab enchiladas and everything was great at first UNTIL I found a piece of something hard while chewing. I brushed it off and just set the piece on the side of the plate and continued eating. Well right before I finished that's when I was completely not having it ... mid conversation and mid bite, I had to stop and spit out a piece I almost swallowed that was hard and almost triangle liked. It was a piece of actual crab shell in my enchilada that I had put in my mouth and almost swallowed while taking a bite. I had pretty much finished my meal at this point and had only my rice and beans. I had ordered them separately and given to my friend. My friend asked our waiter (Daniel) if we could speak to the manager and that's where everything took a turn to the worst. Daniel was aware of the situation and told me To leave my plate there til that manager got there. Well let me tell you, I had 3 waiters try to remove that plate before the manager got there. 3 waiters who were not in that section and I hadn't talked to or had served us. Those 3 did not include Daniel. So Why would 3 waiters try to remove a plate right after I said no to my waiter taking my plate? Gonzalo the manger then came and addressed me and started speaking to me as if I were a child. I am 32 years old mind you. He continued to say this was something expected since it was crab, and that I should be more careful when eating?! I said excuse me? Paying the amount we did for "Fine dining?" Why wasn't I warned before ordering to be careful? I was being told by Gonzalo when eating I should chew slower? I told him I didn't want to start anything but I wanted to give him a heads up if anyone else was ordering the same plate so they can check it as I suspected it shouldn't be in there. You can check the footage and of me almost swallowing that piece and spiting it out. Gonzalo continued to scold me and not listen to me, and at that part I wasn't having it. I did nothing wrong, I didn't even want them comping the enchiladas. I was treated like I was the problem and I did something wrong?! A simple "I'm sorry" would have been just fine. But nope things got worse our waiter turned cold and not inviting anymore and even wished one of my friends a happy birthday after already knowing we were there for an anniversary? He switched up entirely and I know it could have been simple but he chuckled when saying it and just didn't wanna help he then gave us the check and immediately added an automatic 18% tip to our bill without asking so we asked him to remove it. He got upset with that. After that happened one waiter who previously came to try and take my plate away came and asked "if I got what I wanted?!" And I said excuse me? I wasn't asking for anything and he said "you should have gotten up and made a bigger scene maybe dropped on the floor, if you were going to do that lol..." I didn't find that funny at all. To be treated and scolded for what happened to me? Then to be told how I should be eating? This could have been far worse I could have swallowed it, We are both lucky it wasn't this is the worst 1st experience I've had to any restaurant and you could have been sued if matters were worse. I've never had this treatment and to top it off it was my first time trying out Javier's. First and last more like it. I have never been made to feel this way at all, I've had better experiences at a Norms or Olive Garden at that. The fact my plate was trying to be removed 3 times by random strangers shows me you know you were wrong. I reached out that same night to your instagram and heard nothing back. Was treated like I didn't matter or belong and it goes to show you don't care about your feedback either. I hope that never happens again because this is Food safety. Your own waiter said those pieces should not have been in there. I'm sincerely so disappointed with this place and experience 0 stars on my part. Horrible experience! Checked in with the rudest hostesses. The service is terrible here. We finally get seated 30 mins later, in the EMPTY restaurant. The server took forever to take drink orders and then came back 20-30 mins later for food order. I got food POISONING from the Aguachile del Rey. Literally was super ill (throwing up and all) it tasted bitter, so I informed the waiter. He brought me another one and I took a bite out of that too. Fish tasted off.
