    Fish and chips
    Randy A.

I ordered the fish and chips 2 piece $15.99 what I got were three pieces less than 2" x 1" in size. Less than 4oz of fish, which is one of the cheapest sources in the industry. Based on the price each piece is $4 the serving is smaller than McDonals fish sand-witch or their chicken nuggets small. I know JWC employed a large staff but fish and chips this was not. Should be more fish. But won't order it again sorry

Hickory BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger 4. Onion Ring and Drink Fry Sauce

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. It's one of our favorite places to grab a burger! Everything is made to order, so it does take a little time, but it's hot and fresh every time. I love the hickory bbq bacon burger and onion rings the most, but I also really like the turkey avocado & Swiss on sourdough. They have the best fry sauce too! The shakes are always thick and over the top, and usually come out fast so you get dessert first while you wait on your hot items, but I'm not complaining. Drive thru can feel a little slow sometimes, so we usually just come in and order even if we are taking it to-go. If you decide to dine-in, there's lots of tables/booths and TVs with sports on.

Steak sandwich on sourdough and onion rings.

I really love JCW's because the food is fresh, tasty, and the portion sizes are huge. Prices are in line with most other quick service restaurants, and you get way more food than some sit down places. If you're a burger fan, this is the place. It's best to plan to dine here at off hours. Avoid peak dining times like noon - 1:30 pm and 5-7 pm. Lunch is way more crowded than dinner, and massive lines often form at both the inside counter and the drive through window. Don't be discouraged, however: the kitchen is good at getting the meals out fairly quickly. I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes for my food, even at the busiest times of the day. While the menu isn't massive, it can get a little confusing. There are lots of sandwiches and salads, and then a super puzzling side menu where you can "make it a combo" with onion rings, fries, cheese fries, and a drink. It's needlessly confusing, which I think causes the lines to back up with customers. My favorite burger is the JCW Double, and it is massive! The burger patties aren't exactly huge, but the toppings add a lot of heft to the sandwich. My burger was so heavy to pick up! I love the grilled onions, they are so good. Pro tip: always get the grilled onions (ditto for the sourdough bread instead of the regular bun, although the wheat bun is still delicious). The sides seem expensive, but the portions are massive. You will not go hungry here. Another thing I love about the kitchen staff here is that they know how to properly wrap a burger. With carefully placed paper, you can actually pick it up and not make a huge mess. The indoor dining room has plenty of comfy seating and lots of booths, the the self-serve soda machines even have multiple caffeine free and diet soda options. The fresh brewed iced tea can be hit or miss, depending on the day. Self-service condiments are back, and it's one of the only burger joints in town that offer A1 and Grey Poupon bottles to use. If you want a hearty meal, check this place out.

Now for the not-so-good. We usually call ahead because we have a few family members with food allergies. We called ahead and everything sounded kopacetic. We arrived and ordered our food. One member of our 6 person party ate a couple of fries (which she asked about ahead of time due to her allergies) and she noticed something different about the fries. We asked one of the workers if they put something on the fries because they were crispy on the outside. The worker said "I don't think so." We asked if he could check to be sure so he went to ask. He came back and said "it's just crispy coating." So again we asked "can you tell us what is in the crispy coating because we are trying to avoid an allergic reaction." He replied "it's just crispy coating I don't know what's in it." So we asked "is there anyway you can find out what's in the crispy coating?" He replied "there is definitely a way to find out." He goes to the back...again. When he returns he says, "we fry the fries in a fryer with our chicken tenders. I would suggest not eating the fries." His suggestion is well-taken but we still don't know what's in the 'crispy coating.' When we were ordering, one member in my group asked for the two meat plate with brisket and pork ribs. The menu says "pork ribs." The worker said "We don't have pork ribs. We have ribs." So ribs it was. Giving a little room for grace, he was a young man who seemed to be new. BUT if you are at the cash register taking orders, you really should know what's on your menu. As for the food, it was disappointing. Portions were small. For the two meat plate with brisket and sausage, I was given one piece of brisket and a small hot link. To be fair, the menu says "8 oz" for the two meat plate so you kind of know what you're getting. When the order comes out, it looks very small. The brisket was a little on the dry side. The hot link was tasty but small. Buyer beware. TLDR; not coming back

We sent it back and finally got eatable food another 15 minutes later. No apology. Very disappointing overall. Next time I'll opt for the Melty Way shop next door. I am not sure what I was expecting, but I definitely thought they were in a more centralized location. They are not too far from State Street but not close to too many other businesses either. The great news is, they have a wide open parking lot with plenty of spaces. Their food truck is super cute. It hardly looks like a truck and resembles more of a massive wagon. They really went all out with the branding and I am here for it. With it being a parked food truck, they didn't have a lobby or an inside but they did have some tables and chairs right outside their truck. Upon approaching the truck, a guy came to stand beside me and take my order. I was not 100% sure what I wanted but I elected for their signature burger with fries. He said that he could bring it out to my car once it was ready, which I extra appreciated because it was not a very nice day out. My total was just shy of 20 bucks, at $19.27. I sorta understand. I mean, they're a local food truck and it seems that they strive to provide much better quality food than other fast food places...but this is pretty steep for just a burger and fries. The food did seem to come out pretty fast and I was excited to try it. The onion on the burger was a bit large, it was almost an inch thick and I think I would've preferred it cut up just a little more. The fries were pretty good but tasted a bit greasier than I would've liked. I did like that it came with a fry sauce. All in all, I really liked Burger Pioneers. I felt that all the flavors were a bit overpowering and almost bitter because of the greasy taste, but it wasn't a bad burger spot. I hope to be back when the weather is nicer with some friends. This is probably such a cute, fun spot in the summer time!
