So I have looking for a used car for my daughter, finally found a decent car on Jeff Haas web site. Went to look at the car and was willing to purchase for the advertised price. Then the salesperson advises me there is a 1500 charge for bad economic times. Why would they just add this to the price from the get go and not waste my time. Is it possible to give this place negative stars? I understand it's really tough to rate a car dealership or a car maintenance store since it really depends on who YOU are: if you're a woman, minority, rich, poor, etc. Anyways, every time I go somewhere to get my car fixed, I bring a male so my chances of getting ripped off are lessened (albeit, you'd still get ripped off whether you're male or female...but maybe less so if you're a male). My car was fairly brand new when the battery decided to give out (late 2008 model, battery gave out early 2010). I have a warranty and the dealership refused to cover the cost of the battery; instead, it was a huge debacle over what the dealership would cover and wouldn't cover...they refused to let me speak to the manager that day and when I was finally able to get a hold of him, I got a disgusting attitude and a few snotty remarks from one of his subordinates. Ended up writing a letter to Corporate Mazda because you should never treat a customer like that. I hate (and that's a strong word) Jeff Haas Mazda and am willing to drive 30 more miles out of the city just to go to any other dealership than this one. Service sucks. read more

On May 11, I visited the Jeff Haas Mazda Dealership to test drive a 2014 Mazda6. After taking a test drive with Rainie Coleman. I took some literature and promised to call him back after a few additional test drives. On May 17, I returned to Jeff Haas to have my 2010 Rav4 evaluated and talk price options between the Sport and Touring trims. We finally settled on a a three year lease of a Sport trim in the Soul Red color. Rainie said the car was on its way and would be here on Thursday, May 23. I moved a meeting to be able to pick up the car. When I arrived, the car was not even on-site. Rainie said I would get the car on Friday, when he returned to work. I returned on Friday, May 24 at noon to fill out the required documents and drive home with my new car. After completing the lease paperwork, I was handed the keys to a loaner vehicle. My car was still not on the lot, and they had to let me borrow a loaner. Rainie assured me the car would be in on Saturday, May 25. On Saturday, I waited by the phone most of the day for an update. I called twice - 11am and 2pm. The car was still not on the lot. Rainie then told me that he was expecting a Soul Red Touring (mid-level) trim in on Monday, and he would gladly sell me that, at an additional cost. On Monday, May 27, I called again to see if my Soul Red Sport trim Mazda6 had arrived. Rainie said that he could not acquire one and no reds would be available, but the Touring Trim would be arriving tomorrow (May 28), but still come at an additional cost to the lease paperwork I had signed on May 24. At that time, I told him to prepare my 2010 Rav4 to be picked up, and I reclaimed it at 5pm on Monday, May 27. read more

This review is for their new car sales. But first, a little background. So I've been driving a clunker that actually didn't qualify for cash for clunkers (still got too good of a gas mileage, you see), but still required $300 worth of repairs every few months. By the time this past August rolled around, my car was due for a state inspection, which it promptly failed. The verdict? Something, something, cost $300, yadda, yadda, yadda. That's it, I says. I'm putting my foot down and finally getting that new car. Although I'd been eyeing the Acura TSX for a while, practicality won out, and I couldn't justify paying that kind of coin for an I4 engine. As such, I looked at cheaper alternatives--your Toyotas and Hondas of the world (my Asian-ness prevents me from taking that awesome $6,000 off to get a Chevy Malibu, sorry). Pretty soon I stumbled upon the Mazda 3, and after visiting its website ten or twelve times, I was hooked--line and sinker. After visiting some pretty egregious dealerships, Jeff Haas Mazda really was the perfect fit. My first visit was a little past 8 on a Tuesday night. My dad and I walked around the new cars with nary a peep from a saleman; in fact, we had to actually go and find one. The salesman (still unnamed at this point) just asked which car we wanted to test drive, went in and got a key, then handed it over, no questions asked or comments offered. We actually test drove two of them that night (a custom loaded I and a top of the line S), and yes, my love was confirmed. I left and figured I should introduce myself, and in doing so, finally learned said saleperson's name (Stephen Brown, if you're wondering). I went away liking this Mr. Brown. A few days passed and I made it back to the dealership. Once again, I met Stephen, and he drove me over to look at their backlot inventory. No questions, no BS. Pretty much the only two questions he asked were "are you considering the Mazdaspeed?" and "so do you wanna buy a car?" No, I didn't want the Mazdaspeed, and yes, I wanted to buy a car. Maybe not today, but I was willing to negotiate. Again, during the negotiating process, there was little BS. The wait times when he went to "talk to his manager" got unseasonably long at times, but other than that, the negotiations were perfectly amicable. While in retrospect I may have fell for a couple of the oldest tricks in the book, for the most part he was friendly and forthcoming. In the end, I think we both felt like we made a reasonable deal (a.k.a., a successful negotiation). The quirkiness of one Stephen Brown extended far beyond just him; in fact, it felt like the whole Mazda dealership was off-kilter. Instead of a pretty young thing at reception, there's a homely lady with white hair. Instead of greased-back hair and a suit and tie, there were Hawaiian shirts everywhere. While we were negotiating the trade-in price, I asked for $150 off the front end; they countered with $250 off the back end (uhh, thanks!). When the sales manager came up to me after we negotiated the car price (and trade-in) price, he didn't introduce himself or shake my hand but instead said "nice tires." We then proceeded to have a four-and-a-half minute conversation about used cars before he wandered off. Never did get his name. The finance manager was equally unpushy. She offered the deals, all of them, straight up. I wasn't looking for any extended warranties or the such, and she didn't push them. "Thanks, but no thanks," I said. "Ok," she said. That's how I like it. If you're looking for an alternative car buying experience (something akin to what Carmax pushes), I strongly recommend looking into Jeff Haas Mazda. I wouldn't say I went around the block looking for my new car, but I took a couple of test drives, and Jeff Haas was seriously the best when it came to customer service. While I still don't know how well the actual car will hold up and whether dealing with their car service will be just as breezy, the 5 star rating for new car sales is well-deserved. read more

This place has VERY bad customer service. Specifically the service department, they have no manners. Every time I come for service I'm treated like a second class citizen, they're always short and rude when I pull up to the service center. I don't ever get a "hello, how are you?" Nothing! I brought my moms car for service a few months ago and I asked the service advisor, Renzo to inspect the brakes because they were making clunking sounds that I've never heard from any new car with less than 5,000 miles, he proceeds to tell me we didn't buy a Bentley. First of all, RUDE! You cannot tell someone who purchased a brand new car anything like this. Unacceptable. I'm the one who convinced my mom to buy a Mazda because I trusted the brand and think they outperform some of the competition. I know wish I would've gotten her a Toyota or Lexus, I know their service is superior to this place. I always dread coming into to this dealership because the people are rude and unwelcoming. I won't ever buy another car from this dealer again. Their entire management from top to bottom needs to attend some basic classes on customer service. Surprised to read a bad review regarding customer service. I've had nothing but a terrific experience with staff in the service department. I can't rate the dealership as a whole because my father purchased the car, and it was later passed on to me. However, I have the extended warranty, so I'm here every now and again for my scheduled maintenance. My contact is Allen, and he is kind as can be, as is the staff that works the desk. I'm a woman and don't know much about cars at all, but I have never felt ripped off by Jeff Haas Mazda. They take time to explain what I really need done and why. I have NEVER felt they were tacking on extra charges just because I'm a "woman and don't know any better." First, I am skeptical of ALL car dealerships, and although I have been to numerous dealerships , my experience at Jeff Haas was the best so far in Houston, and of course, a LOT BETTER than my experience at Joe Myers dealership. Aside from the excellent service, the salesman and the manager were much willing to negotiate, which is the purpose of finding a good dealership! In the end, we didn't feel like they were using sneaky tactics on us and wasting our time. A lot of dealerships try to suck you in and make you waste time thinking that- it will increase your chances of getting the car in their dealership. You need to show them you HAVE time, and you are not only serious about getting the car (if they concord with the price you are offering), but also you are willing to stay as long as you need to. My wife and I went there earlier tonight. We were looking to buy one of 2 Toyota Corollas they had on the lot. The cheaper one was about $12,997.00, it was a 2015. The other one was a 2014 for $15,995.00. After driving them both, we decided we preferred the older, but lower miles car. I tried to negotiate. It's a sellers market, and that went nowhere, so I resigned myself to paying the full 15,995 plus TT&L price. I wasn't financing. I was just going to buy it outright cash at the advertised price. Ah, but that's NOT in the cards at this dealership. They tacked on $3000.00 dollars for a tracking system, and vehicle protection package that I don't want. This is NOT OPTIONAL!!!!! You can't but the vehicle at the advertised price. Very dirty and deceptive tactics, in my opinion. So if you are looking at their ad, just remember to tack on 3 grand. Our sales guy was great and spent a lot of time with us and even trying to find a car I would like that was kinda hidden in the back of their lot. I told him that it would likely be a month or more before I could buy since I am waiting to see what VW would give me for my TDI. He didn't care and spent time with me anyway. He directed me to a few spots to drive where I could test the handling since that is what I love about my Golf. I bought a red cx5 Mazda from Jeff Haas Mazda today. We first went there just to take a test drive on Saturday, I had no intention to buy the car that day. Ray Maxa was the sales rep that day, he was very informative and helpful. I definitely loved the test drive, he patiently spent time with us and explained ups and downs of the car. He took us to a parking lot in a rainy day and practically showed us how the car brakes would react in sudden stops from 55 mph to zero and also how car traction control keeps the car stable in sudden turns. I absolutely loved the experience and truth to be told I was sold after the test drive. He patiently answered all our questions. We test drove a cx9 as well but I preferred the cx5. He spent a full 7 hours that day to make sure we get what we want. I am a negotiator and kept bugging him on the price, they gave us good discounts on the car. They did not have the color that I wanted in the lot but found us one with more options (tinted windows and wheel locks with nitrogen in tires) in another lot and agreed to bring that car with no extra charge for the options. During the weekend I changed my mind and decided to upgrade the car, although we finalized the deal on Saturday Ray accepted to go over the pricing and finance again and gave us even more discount for the new car. although he had to spend couple of more hours with us, he generously helped us to find what we were looking for. Totally I am happy with my car and my experience with Ray, Danyel (finance manager who gave us a very good APR for the finance and a big discount on the extended warranty) and Jeff Haas Mazda. They were friendly, informative and patient. At the very end the delivery manager spent about 45 minutes with us to explain every single detail of the car which was very helpful. Two: Although I live an hour away they refused to ship the plates to me. When they received the plates I was asked to pick them up. I feel like all salesmen should take a training course with Mohammed as the instructor. He is the definition of a "no hassle" salesman. Him and every other member of the used car sales team were beyond professional and friendly. Let me talk about Mohammed, though, for a second. This gentleman will have your best interest in mind 100% of the time. He knows what a bad sales experience is like and what a bad sales (or the sale of a bad product) will do. After speaking with him, he's been on both ends of the table. Just like you, the car buyer, he's been there. So, he knows what your going through and refuses to push to close. THIS is what I liked about him. I felt like he was there playing both roles - the salesman at his desk and the friend beside you. He was there to make sure that I got what I want at the price I wanted with no pushback. He and the rest of the crew were every bit the same way. WHO TRAINED THESE GUYS!? Customer satisfaction was 100%. From the other people I met, the manager, the financier, everyone was inviting, friendly, and efficient. I did my research and the people there were very honest with their inventory. I bought a mazda6. Paid in full fresh of the lot. (Slightly used) and 2 months later, I am still very happy with my purchase. If your going in hating the car shopping experience, your gonna have a bad time. The sales rep said because the vehicle passed inspection they wouldn't give any discount for the poor tire condition. The tires really need replacing. About two months after purchase they called and said that n order to get a license plate the vehicle needed inspection. So it was never inspected to begin with. I presume the $700 tires helped. Used the online inquiry to obtain information about a specific car I was looking to purchase. Quick response and positive experience in the beginning. Received an email from the sales manager, pairing me up with a sales person who could answer my questions. So far, so good. Salesman reaches out to me, and I tell him exactly what I'm looking for. He replies that he has one car that fits my requirements. I ask him to email me the information; he replies and tells me I need to come in to get the info, because the car has no stock number and is not "tagged." Classic get-him-in-the-door routine. Nah. Emailed the sales manager that I was not happy with experience. No response. However, he forwarded it to the sales person, who responds rudely and confrontationally. Car dealers get a bad rap. I had a very positive experience with the Jeff Haas Mazda sales team. I purchased a 2012 CX-9 that met all my expectations. I appreciated the up front, direct approach to buying a car much like I would purchase any other retail item. My only hiccup was that when I went to collect the car, the make ready work to get the car in my hands had not been done forcing me to return the next day to collect the car. I am really happy with the car that I purchased. The downsides? They sold me an unsafe vehicle. The front two tires were BALD and did not meet Texas safety codes. Third party repair shop told me about the tires and it took me driving there (it's about an hour drive) to show them the tires and begin the reimbursement process. Now I've had the vehicle for 6 mos. I'm now being told that the rear tires are unacceptable. For the love of god, go somewhere else to get your car. read more

I already had the auto loan company willing to finance me, because I know my credit score and income and wanted as little damage to my credit score as possible. They didn't accept my trade in fine, but I came 2 days in a row, and left empty handed. Disappointed. Keith my sales rep was very knowledgeable about Mazda's and convinced me first hand that I was at the right place. However, when it came to the finance department that's a different story. I was told that if I chose a cheaper car, I had a better chance of getting approved without a cosigner, so I did. The finance guy seemed like he didn't even check because the response was the same. I needed a cosigner, so they said. SO I went to another dealership and was able to get approved WITHOUT a cosigner and got a vehicle that was similarly priced. I was NOT receptive and wasted my time at another dealership who really tried to screw me over. Decided I would give Jeff Haas another try and got Nick Acevedo again. He is blunt with you (he's from New York) but if you want to best deal he's your guy. We walked away paying $165 less a month on our car note and with no negative equity in our vehicle. These guys won't screw you around. We easily got a very fair trade-in value on our vehicle when other dealerships really tried to screw us out of value.
