They've gone down hill. I've been coming here for years and the last couple times have been disappointing. The potatoes and bacon I got with my breakfast were clearly from the day before. The food is okay but often arrives cold. The staff is okay but overworked. The place is small and the wait is over 2 hours on a good day. Sorry but I simply cannot fathom waiting that long for mediocre breakfast food with. I will admit their donuts are tasty but again.... the WAIT. And they are located in a well-known sketchy section of 13th Avenue and you're often accosted by homeless individuals while waiting. Or you're likely to get bitten by a dog whose owner insisted on walking them to Jelly and tying them to a pole or railing while they go in and eat (after waiting an hour or two to get a seat). I love my blt! The coffee was really good, I had a salad as my side, and the cucumbers were pretty rotten and the greens weren't fresh either. The ranch was too thick for salad as well. The first time my bf and I went to Jelly we enjoyed the experience and chatted with the bartender and servers. The second time was another story. We sat in the same spot at the bar and had to wait for our super duper cheery bartender/server to take our order, give us our drinks and waited for an hour for our food. Ridiculous, especially after watching a couple that arrived after us receive their food before us. I was disappointed with the hot cocoa which tasted like warm milk sprinkled with some cocoa powder. So I asked for green tea and she said they would have to check the stock room downstairs. This never happened and I had to pick another tea. Really? Is it that hard to send someone to the stock room? The Pepto Bismol pink, hipster music, slow service and so-so food may keep me from giving this place another chance. I have yet to try the donuts. read more

Went to Jelly this morning for the first time and fell in love. Incredibly cheerful and friendly staff put you in a great mood from the moment you walk in! Doughnuts are a must - they are all sooo delicious but cinnamon was definitely our favorite. Such a fun way to start the morning. We shared three different breakfast sliders and my mouth is watering thinking about them right now. Also shared the farm scrambler which had some of the most delicious sauteed tomatoes I have ever tasted. I am a weekend brunch fanatic - its my favorite meal of the week -- so I decided to give Jelly a try. And, while I thought it was pretty good it didn't, in my opinion, live up to the craze I have been hearing. First off, the place echos and the chatter stands out as very very loud when inside. We were pining to eat outside as soon as we got there due to the pingy reflective voices inside. I think they attempted to bring that down with a few sound fixtures above the bar, but they need to add more to make it a little less reflective noise wise. Also, I found the hollandaise sauce to taste pretty standard faire. Nothing stand out with the benny. I feel like the Benedict was atypical. Maybe the "hash menu" is the way to go. On the other side, the staff were very friendly, the decor was cute and kitchy. Also the owner was seemed very cool. Just a few kinks to fix before they live up to the breakfast echelon of Snooze, Root Down or the Squeeky Bean in Denver, who seems to be getting better breakfast joints by the minute. read more

The chocolate donut bites?!? Oh my gosh, to die for! I ordered the roast turkey benedict and it was delicious. Very well done and creamy. My friend had the sweet potato hash. I would definitely order that next time. The perfect mix of spices! The wait was extremely long, but it's nice to visit the bar next door on a Sunday morning. Plus, the staff was amazingly friendly! The brunch here is very good and the vibe is very hipster. It's busy but not crazy- the food was fast and delicious. I absolutely loved the tiny jelly donuts- don't go for the smallest order becuase it won't be enough! The restaurant is a bit crowded but it was fun, it has a relaxed atmosphere and the vintage cereal boxes are a great talking point- awesome detail. I loved the eggs benedict that I got. First the good. Our waitress was pleasant, funny and a little bit psychic. I always drink Vanilla Lattes but somehow with the excitement that they have Almond Milk I forgot to say Vanilla. About five minutes later she walked by and said "Hey, did you want Vanilla in that?" *Mind blown* The latte was great. I was feeling adventurous and ordered a "scramble" called "The Northwest". It is eggs, seared salmon, goat cheese and chives, served with a biscuit and rustic potatoes. I ate every bite of my eggs and salmon, they were the perfect consistency and the goat cheese was fantastic. I'm not a huge potato fan but they were also cooked perfectly. This dish was $8.50 which is very good considering it had salmon in it. And the not so good. We had breakfast at 8am on Sunday and the parking was terrible even for Denver. After circling for 10 minutes I had to park in what looked like employee only parking but hey live in Denver you get a few tickets. The inside is largish and while it has an echo, it does allow for a mostly private conversation. The seating isn't terrible but it's not great and there is no actual waiting space. They do utilize every bit of space but it really does nothing for keeping you or your food warm (the waitress did bring steam milk when asked). I am a huge biscuit fan and I was disappointed by how dry it was and they just gave me Raspberry jelly without asking. Overall, I quite enjoyed Jelly. I would definitely recommend carpooling if possible, arrive early and expect a wait if you come later in the morning. They also specialize in doughnut holes which were pretty good. Decent food and good service. My biggest complaint is that the food that ordered (eggs) didn't come out cooked. They were undercooked and greasy. But the bacon was good, as were the potatoes. Every time I go here, I LOVE it! This place has retro cereal boxes on the wall and old Saturday morning cartoons playing on an tube TV. The wait staff work hard and fast to get you your drinks (adult beverages and a to-die-for white mocha latte) along with your donuts and food. There's a covered patio, but I haven't sat there yet. How do I start? 1. The decor. It's adorable. Their logo has a little piece of toast spreading jelly on its belly. It's precious. 2. The donuts. These made-to-order donut holes are tiny (bite sized) and a perfect breakfast appetizer or treat. I've gotten them to go. The pumpkin seasonal, salted caramel, and maple bacon are my favorites. 3. The drinks. The barista does an amazing job. The white-mocha latte is worth a drive over here. The adult drinks.,.mimosas, etc. are also quite tasty! I had the one with their homemade jam and herbs. So refreshing! 4. The food. The menu is creative-- there are influences from other parts of the country (Wisco omelette-- lots of Wisconsin cheese), Denver burrito, Southern bisquits and gravy...wow. Lots to choose from. I have gotten the egg sliders a couple times-- you can try different flavors and toppings and I. am. impressed. Go to Jelly. Wait in the long line. Went to Jelly around 11:30 on a Sunday for some breakfast. We had almost an hour wait which a long but expected. We were seated outside and it was HOT out there. They don't have any fans or most like some places around here and that's the primary reason for the 4 stars because just about everything else was phenomenal. I ordered a version of Eggs Benedict (my go to at new spots) called Haco Chili Benedict and it was delicious! They come with sliced, sautéed potatoes which were nice and crispy on the bottom and went great with the meal. Like I said, I get Benedicts fairly often and this was one of my favorite experiences. I also ordered the pancake of the day which was a fruit loop pancake. It was tastey, I wouldn't order it again but I'm happy I tried it. I also tried one of there maple bacon doughnut holes, and that was a pretty great treat as well. Lastly the Bloody Mary with the salad added was top notch. All in all, I'd definitely recommend this spot to any breakfast lover. If they had something to keep the guests a little more cool outside, I would happily give 5 stars. I stopped in today to get some gluten free donuts to go, which I have done a few times before. I have two favorite flavors that I usually split between 8 donuts. What I got today was a bunch of donuts with no topping on them, but a gross mix of salted carmel/thai peanut and sriracha floating on the bottom of the container... needless to say that's not an appetizing flavor mix. I tried one donut and they are also a little too hard, must of been over fried. A waste of almost $10!!!! I will try to give them away to a homeless person on my way home. Take some pride in your donuts, they look beautiful in all these other photos... Mine looked and tasted mediocre today. Oh and just on a side note, I waited just about 15 minutes for the donuts while the servers/bartender had time to pour them selves vodka shots, time probably better spent doing their jobs and getting my order made correctly. read more

I love Jelly! My parents always ask to go there when they are in town and we have been to known to go twice in one weekend. That's just how much they love it. I also take all of my out of town guests there. They have a great diverse menu, guaranteed to meet everyone's needs. The staff is always in a great mood even when they are slammed. The wait can sometime be over an hour on weekends but it is always worth the wait. You have to try the donut bites on your first visit. read more

Pretty good, but not worth all the hype; however, I didn't get donut holes, so maybe that's where I messed up. Service was very good, though--very attentive. I wish I had nice things to say about this cute little place. My friend and I came by on a Saturday morning and it was indeed busy, which was totally expected. We wanted to order a plate of donut holes and the barista kept pretending not to hear us! We were finally able to order some with the previously mentioned barista and I had never had worse donut holes in my life.... Not really sure what all the hype is about. The fillings weren't enough, the flavors were lacking, and the seasoning was just not well balanced. While I appreciate all the variety, it didn't do much for me. When we got out main dishes, the breakfast potatoes were so undercooked that we had one bite and didn't even want to bother the server by this point. Everything about our experience was disappointing and I'm afraid we won't be back nor recommend this place to anyone we know. read more

Came here for the first time for breakfast with a friend and it is such a cute and vintage place! Right when we walked in we noticed how open and light the place was. We waited about 5-6 min before anyone spoke to us but were seated fairly quick when the host came up. She seemed a little less excited to be there & sat us down at a table outside. She came back with two waters and slammed them down on the table then walked away. We waited another 5-6 min to be addressed by our server then when I asked a question about a special our server just repeated the special to me and said that's all it is. So by that time I didn't really want to ask anymore questions about the food but I did ask about the lavender blueberry pancakes which were delicious! After the meal we then had to wait another 5-6 min to cash out. All in all the food was a solid 4/5 and the service 2/5. Their donuts are a great way to start off and their vegetarian biscuits and gravy is seriously the BEST I'VE EVER HAD. Their side choices (potatoes or salad) could definitely be more exciting. This place has a creative menu, quality implementation, and the fun of a "breakfast appetizer" with those little donut holes with fun flavors (e.g., Thai peanut, Mexican chocolate, lemon, salted caramel). I normally get one of the hashes because I love grilled veggies with eggs on top. If you like your eggs pre-mixed, the scrambles are full of tasty ingredients too. There is a high ingredient to egg ratio, which I also enjoy. My out of town guests today were a big fan of the ambiance, with the brightly colored bricks, old cereal boxes, and big wall menu. The sweet side of the menu also delivers, with cinnamon pancakes and corn flaked french toast. I have become weary of basic carb and syrup set ups, so nice to have variety there. Jelly is a little breakfast spot easy to get to for Capitol Hill residents. When you get there if there's a wait you NEED to wait in the restaurant to be able to get your spot. There's not much room so be prepared to wait with a lot of other people in the small front of the place. The menu is similar to other breakfast places except for the lavender pancakes, which is the o my thing I get if I'm going to Jelly. They're Lavender pancakes are out of this world! The little doughnuts that are so popular were a bit disappointing in my option. This is my mistake in thinking that they were going to be filled doughnut holes instead of being normal doughnut holes with a small portion of the toppings. I really didn't see a difference in any of the flavors as half the doughnuts had fallen and bumped into each other before they got to the table and that there really was barley and toppings on them at all. Honestly I would pass on these. If you're in the mood for some lavender pancakes and there's not a wait head on over to Jelly!!! read more

Very happy we tried this place! We went early in the morning on a Monday (about 9), there was no wait and right after we sat they got a bit busy. Food was great!
