Like some reviewers, this place has been a staple in my family for many Sundays! Now that I'm in my - ahem - aging years, I am happy to introduce my family to the delights within. The donuts here are very good, and the selection is wide and tempting. Always fresh, haven't had a bad donut here yet. Often you'll find regulars just sitting inside and enjoying the lost art of conversation over coffee. Nice selection of other beverages as well, such as bottles of milk, orange juice and other drinks. Prices are very reasonable (I pay up to $.50 more per donut in SF at some places!!) and the dozen selection is great for a family or if you want to spread your donut fix over a few days -- many of them stay fresh for days when ziplocked. But, FRESH is always the best . . . The owners are friendly and generous - my dad was a favorite of theirs and they would sneak him an extra donut at times - such customer appreciation is not often found, and I am sure to leave them a tip when visiting as a sign of my own appreciation for their attention to quality. If you need a few dozen, or more, for a social group or church or such, just call ahead and they'll have it ready on time. Can't say enough, except give them a try if you're in the area. Just one caveat - they only take CASH, so be prepared (ATM is nearby though if needed . . .) -- ENJOY !! read more

Been to this place many, many, many times with my uncle who actually introduced me to this amazing donut place, and I must say: not only their donuts are really delicious (it even beats Krispy Kreme by a notch or two!), but the owners are so sweet and generous that on many occasions, I've got something extra in my bag... either a few donut holes or a whole donut! Most of all, despite its small size, their pastries come out very fresh and luscious, I even take it to school and those donuts still taste wonderful! It may be a tiny hole in the wall that can be found next to a large, nationally-owned coffee shop, but, their expertise in making high-quality donuts and pastries shows that they know how to make quality desserts. Every time I get to visit this store, it brings out my childhood again and again... And nope, this is not your typical Dunkin' Donuts or Krispy Kreme! Been going to these folks donut shop since I was lil' guy. Back then, the shop was in the location that the Starbucks is now in. In high school we all would cut early morning class to go to the shop to read newspapers, eat donuts and smoke cigs INSIDE ! I also remember that the owner's gave my graduating class of '95, all the donuts we could eat for grad night. Oh, and I can't help but have a jelly donut everytime I pass by. Ahhhh nothing like this nice classic doughnut shop. This place reminds me of my childhood, when I actually used to eat doughnuts. I'd come here often, a little too often. They have the best doughnuts I've ever had, they're AMAZING. I'm a big sprinkle and glazed fan, and these are as good as they come. I haven't been here in years, but I think it's still under the same ownership, and I remember the friendly lady would throw in a free doughnut every now and then. I'm so happy that they've been able to compete and stay in business even while big business has moved in (Starbucks, Safeway, Peet's, Panera...). If you want tasty doughnuts that don't come from some chain store, go here. I just wish that I could actually eat them again, it's no secret that doughnuts aren't the best for your health. The Jelly Donut is a local legend among my friends. I have to admit it. I love donuts. But this is also a family owned and run bakery who are consistently warm and generous with everyone. Bee and Ng are the best!! I've been going there for 20 years. Their donuts are fresh and fluffy and light. I especially like the raised donuts rolled in sugar. when you get one of their donuts warm out of the fryer its one of the best foods in the world. Of course I can't go there without a buttermilk bar and really I just close my eyes and pretend I don't see the cinnamon roll because really that's over the top. The Jelly Donut is a place that still serves flavored coffee. The coffee is not the best but I enjoy every sip because I get to chat with Bee behind the counter. She takes a genuine interest in everyone and always has a twinkle in her eye when she is not too tired from getting up at midnight and driving highway 37 in the dark to make donuts for all of us. read more
