The chicken was good, but not the most tender I've had. The hot sauce really brought a lot of flavor, though, and I enjoyed it with the rice and beans. The plantains were quite starchy vs. the softer and more ripe sweet plantains I've had, but they're still one of my favorite foods, so I was happy to be able to have some. I also got the cool sauce and it went really well with the plantains after I burned my mouth off with the hot sauce and chicken (don't worry, it was all worth it). Great food, casual, low key. TVs run sport shows and whatnot. No music at time of visit but that's ok. I actually had a conversation without competing with loud music. He place is located on a busy corner and parking is not easy to find, but worth every bite of food. Would definitely come back. They do have a small selection of beers and cocktails. When I tell you I'm sooooo happy I tried this place! Do not overlook coming here due to 3.5 star reviews! I'm not sure what's going on but this delicious restaurant is a solid hidden gem in Chicago! I was so pleased with Jerk! To be honest, I wasn't expecting too much because no one ever talks about this place, and the only person who ever did told me it was overpriced and took forever. A restaurant was a 3.5 yelp rating and zero hype around it felt like a risk, but I took the jump. I got a half pound of jerk chicken thigh and a single jerk chicken quarter and a side of cabbage slaw. With a 20% tip, it was only $35 delivered and lasted me for three meals (though I decided to make my own coconut rice because I had the ingredients on hand and it only took a minute to out in my rice cooker). Best part is that it was light and tasty and didn't go hard on the grease and salt like so many jerk chicken places do. Just good quality chicken prepared really well. I'm not surprised some people may think it's under seasoned if they are used to restaurant levels of salt and grease. Regardless, you can get their sauces on the side (they do not charge extra) and they should provide all the heat and taste you need - I am fond of both their hot peppa sauce and rude girl sauce. Having Jerk as my neighbor has become a dangerous problem for my brisket cravings. I honestly feel that the food has only improved since my first visit. With the combo platters, you get so much food for a very good price. My newest obsession are the bowls! You get a bit of everything in them and I always get an extra side of the cilantro aioli. The mild BBQ sauce and chicken have a decent kick to them if you're not a big spicy fan, but that cilantro aioli can cool anything down to a more manageable mild taste. The experience is what really made this visit. I was helped by a few of the employees but Corvez was the star. He was super patient, accommodating and full of energy. This place is amazing! Jamaican authentic for sure. I know bc I used to work with Jamaican food in NYCs West Village. Dion Solano is a great owner who knows this food inside out plus he's a wonderful guy! Thank you for bringing such good Jamaican food to West Town right here in Chicago. The yucca fries were crispy and flavorful with a kick to it, the beef brisket was perfect with jerk seasoning and little fat and tender meat, the jerk pork shoulder was juicy with the sauce which complimented the pork, they had jerk Mac and cheese which was also very good and surprising with jerk seasoning, the roasted corn with black beans was just right with onion and tomato and cilantro and garlic and pineapple juice, the rice and peas was Jamaican perfect with just enough coconut milk saturated in there and the peas done just right, and the BBQsauce was sweet and tangy and really unique that we kept eating it w everything (it's coming out in bottles so look for it), and there is a sweet bread called Festival bread that comes w the rice and peas which has just enough chewy with doughy taste and feel. The atmosphere is great w lots of space and nice music that is not blaring. I love the windows all around and there is FREE parking across the street. On Thursdays Fridays Saturdays they have bar hours from 5-10pm with Rum punch. Plus karaoke night on Thursdays. How can you beat all these goodies in this place? The other day I was watching a YouTube vlog of some guy in Jamaica eating jerk pork and chicken and it looked delicious so I Googled where I could get some of the same here in Chicago and this spot popped up and wow this place delivers. The jerk chicken here was succulent and juicy with no dry parts and seasoned to perfection...It came with a sauce but why bother, it didn't need any sauce at all and same for the pork...the pork was mind-blowingly good but what was suprising was all the sides I had were fantastic as well...The coleslaw was vinegar based and delicious, the rice and beans were fantastic, and the corn salad was wonderful. A bizarre yet intriguing flavor which ends up completely overwhelmed by the baseline spiciness. Super harsh, tasted like 100% dry rub and 0% marinade. Unlike other places that try crazy stuff like this, no relief can be found in the sides which are also unnecessarily salty and tangy. I stay pretty close to 3000 calories a day and always have the stomach to exercise soon after meals, but I have to admit that this was the first restaurant in way over a year that actually required an emergency evacuation early the next morning. read more

It came with slaw, fried plantains and a festival, which is a small sort of sweet bread. Loved both of those. The best part was the BBQ beans.
