When you are going to rave about a Veggie Sandwhich, it better be hella good!!! And guess what, it wasn't just hella good, it was wicked good!!! I've been wanting to visit Jersey Mike's Subs since it opened in this strip mall about a year or so ago. And I finally got to taste their heavenly sandwhiches tonight!!! Before I went on my journey tonight, I checked beloved Yelp. All 4 or 5 stars of Jersey Mike's! Hell yes!! Here I come. Walked in around 6:45pm....no one was there. Got a chance to look over the menu witout feeling hurried. Since I'm not eating meat at the moment, I had to choices: the #14 Veggie Sub (cheese and veggies on bread) or the Veggie Wrap (toasted cheese and veggies served in a wrap). I choose the #14 Veggie Sub. And it was pretty damn good!!! I couldn't even tell I was eating a sub without meat....and I didn't feel bloated afterwards either. I loved it!!!! So delish!!!! And get it "Mike's Way" too. Which is with their "special" sause they put on the subs, super great!!! Subs are a little on the expensive side. Subs range from $6.25 (mini) to $10.75 (super size). Wraps are $6.95. Drinks are $2.25 extra....chips are around $2 too. When I paid for my sandwhich, they gave me a $1 off coupon for my next sub. I think I'll be visiting you again Jersey Mike's. We had lunch catered from this location ... 8 out of 16 people had food poisoning that weekend. This was the only thing we shared in common. The same weekend, a friend brought home a sub from this location, didn't like the taste so gave it to her German Shepard ... YUP, it had food poisoning too that weekend. The county investigation found some minor infractions, like food storage temperature and a couple of other minor violations. Being a New Jersey Native for 26 years of my life before moving to So-Cal in 2007, I have a LOT of experience with Jersey Mike's. The chain started out in Pt. Pleasant, NJ- a happening beach town at 'The Jersey Shore' (an area about 20 miles long made up of points from Belmar down to Seaside Heights mostly) Consider it like a stretch of beach cities from HB to San Clemente. So Jersey Mikes started out with I'd say maybe 5 or 6 shops in NJ and apparently the last 3 years they branched out A LOT. I was pleased to find out there are 2 on El Toro Road- 1 by Leisure World in Laguna Woods and another a little past Rockfield/El Toro in Lake Forest. Ok now on to the subs... Best subs are #9 Club Supreme (Turkey, Roast Beef, Swiss or Provolone Cheese, Bacon, and the works) Now since people in Cali don't know the jersey lingo lol, Jersey Mike's created a topping assortment known as "Mike's Way" which is most of the standard ingredients- oil & vinegar, salt & pepper, oregano, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, AKA the works! Jersey Shore Special- Ham, Capicola (an italian meat), Provolone- def. a classic, I ordered these many times throughout the summer. You can also order hot subs, wraps, salads, and side dishes like potato salad and macaroni salad (I think). For the ultra health-conscious, you can order whole-wheat bread. The prices are reasonable (not cheap but not expensive). About 7.50 for a large/whole sub, 5.00 for a small/half, and they don't skim on the meats like other crappy sub shops mentioned below. The quality of the meat is delicious and it's a proprietary meat they use, so although it's not Boar's Head (one of the best meat brands out there), it is still top-notch! And if you are very calorie conscious or are under the impression that Subway is really how Jared Fogle lost all his weight, well you are probably naive but in any case you can find healthier items at Jersey Mike's while I stick with the tried and true #9 club supreme! Jersey Mike's is well known in NJ and is probably the best chain sub shop-in NJ. There are family owned places that are good, but for the quality, consistency, efficiency, and price, I highly recommend Jersey Mike's. Rating Jersey Mike's versus other sub/sandwich shops in CALIFORNIA. 4 GET ABOOOOOOUTTTT IT. Jersey Mike's blows them all out of the water! Food is ok...if passing by & in desperate need of a sub sandwich, I would probably eat here again. However, the employees aren't very welcoming or friendly. My last visit was a lunch run for myself & co-workers. Half of them had mistakenly ordered from a different location; which of course I hadn't realized until I attempted to pick up the food. The man behind the counter looked at me like I was crazy when I told him the names on the orders & got super defensive with me over it for some strange reason. As I am fairly new to the area, I looked at their confirmations and asked him to confirm the address I was at; he couldn't even tell me. He had to look at a menu for the address, then didn't even say "oh no, you're at the wrong place"...He just kind of halfheartedly tossed the menu on the counter & pointed at the address. It was just weird & kind of unnecessarily rude. My visits before haven't been quite as bad as the last, but every time none of the employees really look or act thrilled to helping customers. I tried Jersey Mike's take on a philly cheesesteak. First off it is schorching hot outside and for those of you freaks who like this, I literally think you are crazy! Luckily Jersey Mike's air was blasting and I was welcomed in with cold arms. On to the cheesesteak: I had to ask for no peppers, who puts peppers on a cheesesteak? They forgot and started to put it on the grill and they were red on top of it, not a fan. So they had to remove which they did with no problem and with a smile. I've been to this specific Jersey Mikes a few times before my last visit. Let's just say I won't be returning. The two men working were horrifyingly rude. Every question you asked you felt like you were annoying them when it is there job to listen to what you would like. After all of this I was paying for my food and the guy checking me out handed me my sandwiches and another bag saying "here's a bag to put your food in"... Today it was about a 3.75 star affair. The place isn't as nicely located or clean as the one in Laguna Woods (also on El Toro). They have duct tape holding their toilet lid together. And I'm not sure it's a "short-term solution". Enough said... The ITALIAN SUB was packed full of the various meats so there wasn't any cost-cutting going on. They had some good ones included but a spicy capicolla would've added some interest for sure. And a mortadella or prosciutto wouldn't hurt either. I know the Laguna Woods adds some of that action. As it were it was loaded with thin ham as I recall more than anything. Additionally, I normally love the "Mike's Way" at Laguna Woods but here you can't even tell they added red wine vinegar (or "barely, barely" can tell). I never had Jersey Mike's before, but seeing as this place was relatively close to my work and my coworker suggested it, I thought I would give it a try. First off, I really liked how all the meats and cheese were fresh from their meat-deli-fridge thing and they were all cut in front of you. It was a really nice touch being able to see your sandwich being made but not from items that could've just been sitting behind a sneeze guard for hours. I had the roast beef with everything on it and I honestly had to say it was really good. Although I prefer some other restaurants in terms of sandwiches, Jersey Mike's was able to deliver both on food quality and price. Their smallest size sandwich was able to get me really full, which is saying a lot because I eat a lot of food, and it was about $7. For the roast beef sandwich, the beef tasted really fresh and the toppings definitely went very well with it. Overall, the food is good, the price isn't that bad, and the staff there is really friendly. I'll definitely come back again some other time, especially after a coworker won a catered 10 person lunch through the business card drawing! Woo! read more

Came here last night for the first time. My husband and I got the supreme sub. It was very good. Not too many people there on a Tuesday night. Prices aren't too bad since they freshly cut the meats when you order. However, my issue is that they don't seem very sanitary. They lay the sandwich bread straight onto the countertop. Which I'm sure they wipe down with the same rag that they wipe down all the rest of the counters. Then the knife that they use to cut the sandwich is eight next to the register. Like right next to it. When the cashier gave me my receipt to sign, I almost placed it right on the knife without realizing. Super easy to get germs and spread them like that. Jersey Mike's is decent, but I agree with some other reviewers that it is not a 5 or even 4-star place, even for East Coast comfort food. I was really disappointed with the Meatball Sub. For a 14-inch giant sub.. the guy put on two meatballs... Two medium sized meatballs sliced into quarters and sprinkled across the sandwich. Maybe one in every third bite actually had meat in it. Not worth $12. I've had the cold subs too, they seemed more generous with the filling, lots of tomato with salt and pepper. Still the quality of the cold cuts is nothing amazing for a $10+ sandwich. Best redeeming factor is that even the white bread is chewy and flavorful. read more

This is by far my favorite sandwich place. They slice the meats and cheeses right in front of you when you order it. Be sure to get your sandwich done "Mike's way". What makes them better than other sandwich places like Subway and Togo's is their red wine vinaigrette (and of course the freshly sliced meats and cheeses). The sandwiches are a bit more expensive than other places, but they also taste way better. I also like how their iced tea is freshly brewed instead of the nasty stuff that comes from the soda machines. Ahhhhhhhh...takes me back to my childhood... We had heard that there was a "Jersey Mike's" out here in California after an episode of some show we saw on the Travel Channel or something. So for months now (literally) we have been saying that we have to try it out. Much to our amazement, we also found out that there are several locations out here (and there's scuttlebutt (Navy talk for "rumor") that they're going to open one in the next town over from us. Yeah!!! The closest thing we had found out here that even compared was a chain call SubMarina. And even then...ya had to direct them in the construction of your sandwich. Back home when your getting an Italian sandwich it's generally a cold sub (with ham, cappocola, and provolone) or a hot sub (meatball Parmesan or sausage with peppers, onions, and marinara). On your cold subs...the only thing you got on them was shredded lettuce, sliced tomato's and onions. And it was dressed with red wine vinegar, olive oil and celery salt (this is what Jersey Mike's refers to as "Mike's way"). There was no mustard or mayo or any kind of garbage like that on our sandwiches...LOL!!! So anyway...my better half and I were up in Irvine yesterday for the Irish Fair. On the way home we decided to stop by one of the Jersey Mike's locations we found on our cell phones. When we got inside we had to warn the guy making our sandwiches that we were from the Jersey shore and that we ate at the original "Mike's Subs" in Point Pleasant many times as kids. We ordered two number 2's (the Ham, Cappocola and Cheese) and two number 13's (Cappocola, Pepperoni and Cheese). I enjoy sandwiches. Sometimes I just get a loaf of bread, a pack of Kraft American cheese singles and some prepackaged turkey meat and just go to town for a straight week. So when I go to Jersey Mikes, it's definitely a treat me. Out of the sandwich chains, I think my ranking goes like this: Jersey Mikes, Togos, Quiznos then Subway. I think the ingredients are fresher at JM's and the sandwiches offered are more unique. You can see them slicing the meat and cheese right in front of you. This JM is pretty on par with other stores. Got the Big Kahuna Cheesesteak, which is a jalapeño philly cheesesteak. Tasted pretty delicious. A little heavy on the jalapeño and a little light on the steak. But overall it was a pretty good sandwich. Clean store with a couple of tvs so you can Keep up with the Kardashians while enjoying a roast beef sandwich. I was anticipating an over-the-top good sub after reading the reviews. I ordered a #2, Jersey Shore Favorite, on wheat. I was expecting something incredible but instead I found a fresh, but average, sub. The bread was a little dry, the meats and cheeses were very good and sliced to order, but the flavor that I was expecting from "Mike's Way" definitely didn't pack the punch I was hoping for. It just lacked the full flavor I like at Quiznos, Jimmy Johns, or even Subway. I may try a different sandwich another time or try a different location, but I left a little disappointed. read more

I used to come here all the time because I worked in the area and could chat with the employees because they all recognized me. Now there's some newer faces and have now had two problems with my orders. The first one happened probably in April this year. I ordered a wrap and a sub, two chips, and two drinks. When I drove 20 minutes (eager to get some time to eat before jumping on the freeway back to class) I realize there was only one turkey wrap for two people. Where's the other sandwich?? I called the store and they said it was still cooking and takes a bit longer. When they handed me the brown paper bag and told me to have a great day I assumed I was safe to leave and was not told that my other sandwich was still cooking. I called the store and Aidan was kind enough to put a credit on my account for two free sandwiches to make up for the lost time and food. But I haven't seen him in a long while - how do I redeem these sandwiches?! And then #2 mistake happened today. My family of 4 placed an online order. A turkey and provolone, a meatball, an Italian sub, and a BLT. Two sandwiches were fine. The turkey and provolone (in which I paid extra for guac) was not in the bag?!?!? The BLT was not ordered and seemed to be a glitch that happened after we placed the order. I don't know how this ordered got messed up so badly but I'm not ordering online from them again. I will only order in person so I can watch them and make sure that I'm getting what I want. Good eats! I avoid the Mike's Way simply because I don't like sour too much at once. It can get really messy too. My staple is: Roast beef, grilled bread (toasted basically) with Lettuce, Tomato, mayo, and salt/pepper. Basic sandwich, but great quality ingredients. read more
