This place has grown on me. It's very close to my office so there's the convenience factor. Not the degree of variety as Subway. But the ingredients are quality. People there are mostly friendly. There's a difference between being busy and not caring about your customers. I understand I came during the lunch rush but that does not mean the customer care should suffer because you're busy, I came in with a friend I asked if my sandwich could be put on a grill, it wasn't, I also asked for rosemary Parmesan bread (wasn't given it), my friend asked for no bacon on his #9 (surprise it had bacon). When asked if I wanted Mike's way I replied yes, but can you also add jalapeños and peppercinis, she rudely replies "so you don't want it Mike's way". Please instruct your employees on how to listen FIRST, like I said, I understand you're busy but I also understand that our requests weren't impossible regardless of the circumstances, never coming back again. this has been our weekly go to during the quarantine. everyone is nice. the sandwich quality is good, esp the hot subs! -yesterday our order was given to someone else. They remade it but then remade it inn the wrong size. I was pretty frustrated as I was at home waiting to feed my toddler and also I am 8 months pregnant and this delayed our lunchtime by 45 min (which if you are a mom and/or a pregnant mom you just know how much stress this causes). But my husband said they were overwhelmed and that they were trying hard to make it right. They gave a refund which at least did a little bit to help. Did not enjoy their customer service at all! Staff looks like they hate working there. I ordered my food 10 minutes before arriving and when I got there, one of the employees said it would take 5 more minutes. I thought was totally okay, but then no one was working on my order instead they were helping 4 more customers in line. It took them another 20 min to finally get my order. Rating isn't really for me. Girlfriend loves this place and the Italian sub. Personally I dont get the appeal of a $17 sub, chips and drink. If it was a great sandwich ok but it's just a sandwich with oil and vinegar or whatever it is. Isn't enough meat but rarely is there but especially for the price there isn't. I LOVE Jersey Mikes but so far not this location. Went here the first night and I let things slide because it was the first night but the staff was sloppy, argued with customers and didn't know how to ring up the total correctly. I have since been back twice because I love Jersey Mikes and I wanted a sandwich. Both times they have messed up parts of the order, put way too much "Juice" and were not very friendly. Also PS....pay attention please and change out the lettuce when it gets to the bottom and is swimming in water or figure out a way to not have your lettuce in water. I hope this location gets better (The one at 1 World Trader Center and other locations around the O.C. are great!). As with most places I end up reviewing on Yelp these days, I have been to Jersey Mike's a lot. I'm using their points thing, so I can say with certainty that I have been to this location over 15 times within the last month. I only come here for my lunch during the week usually sometime between 2 and 5 pm, so if you come here some other time and they're terrible, don't blame me. The people who work here seem to enjoy working here, at least as much as it is possible to enjoy working at any fast food establishment. This is cool. At food places it is usually just the older employees who care about learning your regular order and your name, but here even the younger employees do. (One of the cashiers here is friends with one of the waitresses at another place I go to! It's weird, this small world of ours.) The main thing is, as always, the food. Or, I guess, the sandwiches. Since starting work in Long Beach, I have missed my regular feedings of turkey sandwiches at Capriotti's, but Jersey Mike's might be an even better substitute. Their sandwiches are the bomb. Their roast beef is SO GOOD. Seriously, the best roast beef anywhere. It is so juicy and delicious that I forgot how to spell the word juicy when trying to describe it right now. Their lettuce is never wilted and nasty, the onions are a-ok (no giant onion chunks ruining your day), and "the juice" is probably the perfect garnish. The bread that holds it all together is properly firm, but not too firm--I'm not tearing at the sandwich like a ferocious animal because the bread is fighting me. It gives, like it was meant for my mouth, for my stomach. Like it was meant for me. One thing, the "mini" is really a good solid sandwich. The "regular" should really be thought of as a "large". Complaints of them being really expensive might be because of this. The $6 sandwich is enough food for me, stop being fat. Or maybe y'all are poor. Like Britney says, you gotta work, ... If there are negatives, these are them: The default level of "juice" might be a bit absurd for some. It doesn't leave the sandwich super soggy, but still wetter than I would really like, so I order "easy on the juice" these days. Some of the customers here sometimes are really, really stupid, and I end up standing around wasting precious minutes of lunch time while they are stupid. Ok, that's it for possible negatives. This place is pretty cool! I love the sandwiches and I love the options. My dad and I came in when it was just opening and the staff seemed like they were in a good mood. I already knew what I wanted. A BLT. My dad wanted a roast beef sandwich. The guys that were working were awesome and even added in some suggestions on what they thought would be good on our sandwiches! I like things plain so I didn't take those suggestions but I thought that it was very nice of them. The store was very clean and so was the bathroom. I don't come here much but I really like it. Obviously, whomever runs this particular store has NEVER been to Jersey. Staff was without a clue and poorly managed, my sandwich was definitely on the skimpy side, the taste of my order ranged somewhere between bland and none, and I wasn't even provided with napkins. At least the immediate outside eating area was clean. But that was pretty much the highlight of my meal. And, yes, I lived in Jersey for almost 3 years, and so I do know what the offered food should taste like. This just don't. No way, no how. Ain't gonna happen. Doubt I'll ever give this place a second try. We saw at least 3 ppl working their asses off cleaning.. we knocked on the window and asked if they were closed and one of the guys just shook his head letting us know they were closed but seriously!? 20 mins before they were supposed to close they lock their door to not get anymore customers? It starts with the bread, which is way better than any other sandwich shop around, like by a mile. The meat is better than Subway's, too, and you get more. Like a lot. I am so stoked there is finally a Jersey Mike's closer to my house! No more having to go to downtown and fight for parking. These sandwiches aren't your five dollar foot longs from Subway, these are large sandwiches piled high with freshly sliced meat and cheese and only a few toppings to choose from. "All killer no filler" type of sammies going on here! They can get some long lines but they are pretty efficient and these sandwiches are worth the wait. The prices are on point for the quality of the food. The service is a little shaky but this location is brand new so it's full of people who just completed training not too long ago. Much better than subway, despite the more limited selection of toppings. Produce is crisper, bread is fresher, and meats/cheeses are leagues above what subway offers. Always get it Mike's Way. Wow. Splitting a giant #7 at $12.50 is also not a terrible deal. However, I have some recurring qualms with this location. The place can always be cleaner. It doesn't take more than two people to make a sandwich, and there are plenty of employees texting behind the counter who could be wiping off tables of sweeping breadcrumbs and straw wrappers off the floor. The music is always cranked up, forcing you to practically have to scream your "Mike's Way?" consent at them. The LA Kings gave me a coupon for a free regular sub at Jersey Mike's which I was more than willing to give a try despite my severe sandwich bias and ardent loyalty to another deli. It will probably take another free coupon before I head back to Jersey Mike's. The fifth star is lost for not having any method for toasting the bread. The friendly clerk offered to place the bread on the griddle but that's not going to warm a French roll all the way through to my satisfaction. Without the option of the toaster, I opted for a Honey Mustard Turkey Wrap. The fourth star is lost because I asked for a spinach tortilla but got a whole-wheat tortilla instead. I did not notice the tortilla mix up until I was already home with the meal. It's not like I'm going to return a free meal to complain, but getting an order wrong is unfortunate error. The wrap itself wasn't anything to 'wow' me. The honey mustard sauce was very runny and the turkey was bland. Came here because I could use my Angels ticket stub to get a free regular sized sub (since the Angels scored 10 or more runs in their previous game). The girl working behind the counter was extremely nice (didn't catch her name - she was Asian). I was really impressed at how nice this girl was compared the the employees at the other Jersey Mikes location (off of Lakewood Blvd. and Cover St.). I would like to add though, that I would normally not buy a sandwich from this place if I didn't have the ticket stub.. because the prices are expensive! Almost $9 for a regular sized sub! LET ME JUST TELL YOU, I am so happy right now!!! Not only is it because I have my warm food lying on my lap in this freezing cold weather lately as I am heading home but also because I just experienced some great service tonight. Now I'm not sure what my servers name was, but my receipt says Oscar was my server. I came inside the stored with my boyfriend around 40 minutes before closing and was expecting to be rushed out the door but that was not the case. Oscar served us up three subs: 2 #56's and a BLT. They only had wheat bread tonight but thats okay because I usually get wheat anyway. But this is not the point, Oscar quickly informed us that my bacon would take about 10 minutes and asked if that was okay. I said yes, of course! He then offered us cups for water while we waited. I have been to plenty of Jersey Mike's locations, and they are generally 4 star places. The sandwiches are good, and certainly worth a couple bucks more than the stuff they serve at Subway. This location makes the same sandwiches, but they lose a star for their staff. It seems that they are there to concentrate on their own good time, and not to make the customers happy that they are spending money there. They seem distracted and would rather chat with each other instead of making sure your sandwich is the way you ordered it. I have yet to get a sandwich the way I asked for it, and it is not complicated stuff (no tomato, please...) The location is handy and I like the outside tables, though the parking lot is slammed at lunch time thanks to the In n Out Burger. read more
