Small place with limited parking BUT outstanding food. Sliced assembled and out fast. The staff…read morewas friendly and fast. The place is loud like a NYC deli and has desserts as well. So close to NYC but so far away too. Would recommend and will be back. The sandwiches were devoured by our guests as well as the sides.

When in Pensacola we always make it a point to visit The New Yorker. This visit we opted to sit on…read morethe deck for lunch as it was so pleasant outside. The deck is quite enjoyable for a number of reasons. It is shaded and surrounded by lush vegetation and it's much quieter than inside and more conducive to conversation, especially for folks like me who have profound hearing issues. Service is prompt and attentive here. We decided to share the hot pastrami on rye and the antipasto salad. As you can see from the pic the sandwich is ginormous. So good. The antipasto salad here is unlike any I've ever had in my 77 years! It is composed totally of Capicolla, Genoa, and cotto salami, pepperoni, provolone, Swiss and mozzarella cheese, green and black olives, and artichokes marinated in an Italian dressing. There is no lettuce as in all the antipasto salads I've had before. It is absolutely delicious. We were unable to finish our shared portions of the salad and took easily a whole half portion home to enjoy later. As I'm sure I've said before, there's a reason this store is always packed.

We pulled into this little avant-garde grocery store butcher shop and, I'll tell you what, we were…read moretickled plum pink and then some. The place is a meat lover's daydream--goat, Wagyu beef, turkey, and more cuts of steak and chicken than you can shake a cast-iron skillet at. And the best part? Prices that don't make you wince on the way to the register. We sampled our way through like it was our civic duty, and every bite backed up the hype. The Italian cotechino sausage ended up pulling double duty--first in a pot of collard greens that could make a preacher shout, and then in a potato hash that was nothing short of sinful. The olives? Lord have mercy. Worth the stop all by themselves. Now let's talk atmosphere. This place looks like a gas station that found religion and got saved by a butcher block--and I mean that as the highest compliment. It's got character, grit, and just enough charm to make you want to hang around longer than you planned. Do yourself a favor: don't just think about going--go. Make the trip, take the detour, tell whoever's with you they'll thank you later. And for the love of all things good and right, get the tuna dip. I don't know what they're putting in it, but it ought to be studied by scientists

If you know, you know: Hip Pocket Deli is one of those locally owned gems that makes you wonder why…read moreyou ever eat anywhere else. Their gyros? I'm convinced they were blessed by the Greek gods themselves. Fresh ingredients, tender gyro meat that practically melts on contact, and that perfect balance of herbs and seasoning, it's easily the best gyro in town, hands down. And don't even get me started on the Cuban sandwich and the buffalo chicken fries. Those are my "don't think, just order" picks. Every. Single. Time. Flavorful, hearty, and dangerously addictive. But I have to be honest: Recently I've missed seeing my favorite Hip Pocket employee, Leigh! The one and only. She gives the kind of customer service that makes you feel like you're walking into your best friend's kitchen. Absolutely nothing against the rest of the team as they're great! They are just not her. Leigh could teach masterclasses in hospitality. She's a huge part of why I've been a loyal regular for years. The food is outstanding, but Leigh's kindness and energy are the extra magic that keeps me coming back. Hip Pocket Deli, please know you've got a true star on your hands and she always goes the extra mile for your customers!!!

Best bagel in Pensacola. Full stop…read more If you are along the water and looking for a breakfast spot, then Bagelheads may be your jam. Bagels and pastries of so many kinds plus phenomenal breakfast sandwiches and so much more. Almost everyone loves a good bagel, and they even have some gluten-free options (with some qualifiers). You can get a number of cream cheese options or other toppings, and their lox has that phenomenal smoked flavor. The Lox Works, complete with cream cheese & capers, can be done on your choice of bagel. In fact, any of the breakfast sandwiches can be done how you want it, and there are literally a million combinations. There's plenty of seating inside & even outside, so you can enjoy the view of the placid gulf as it laps up to Pensacola Beach while enjoying your breakfast. Bagelheads even offers their own roast coffee blend, called 'Mac Daddy', and it's a very robust cup of coffee. Self-serve coffee runs you $3.50 & you can get a dozen assorted bagels to go for $20, which will make whomever you bestow them upon very happy. You can even drive-through! Great local small business with an outstanding offering, great service, and a great brand.

Bad doesn't even begin to describe this place. Want to see the dumbing down of America on full display...just come here to watch the employees in action. Ever wondered what food service looks like without management...again, have a look here. In a tale as old as time, order was misplaced, food was cold, and no shits by the staff (other than a piss poor attitude) were given. 20 minutes for cold egg bites and a toasted bagel (that wasn't toasted) with butter (not melted), all for only having 2 people order in front of me. Coffee urns are never changed out, and always empty and/or cold. The only this they're able to do consistently well is to turn the iPad around when paying and expect a tip! Save yourself the time, trouble and money...GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!! There are too many good eating establishments in this town to continue supporting this miserable, pathetic excuse of an eatery. It used to be great, but has changed for the worse.
