Back at Jersey Mike's today. Been to this location a few times, time to review. If you read some of my recent reviews, I have been paying attention more to sodium in foods. Let me tell you there is a ton of sodium in everything we eat everyday, everywhere. If you are eating out or even at home, lots of sodium, we love our salt. I have been reading labels more and nutrition at various places when out, so good to try to watch what you can. This location like all Jersey Mike's, the service is fast, the staff is very friendly and always a good experience. The decor is the same as the others here, no surprise there. Today I decided to try a bowl and forgo the bread which can account for a large amount of sodium, although I love the rosemary Parmesan. The meats for the most part can have a lot of sodium as well and some cheeses, pickles, etc. I digress. As I said, I tried the bowl with Roast beef and Swiss as these are the lowest possible options for sodium content. With lettuce of course topped with tomato and onion. Seasoned with oregano and pepper, dressing vinegar and oil. In total should be under 500 mg of sodium, good protein and minimal fat, not bad for a sandwich shop. Although I lover the bread, having it in a bowl style was very good and I think I could get used to not having the bread, it was soo yummy! See my pics for the bowl and try one today. Enjoy!

Evidence of sub in a tub container leaking due to improper handling.

While the food is usually good, these people have no clue how to package their subs in a tub. I have no idea why they think it is okay to tilt these on end to place in the bag...hello people, when you do this the oil and vinegar leaks out into the bag. By the time you get home, you are lucky your food has not fallen through the bag. Now when you get home and set the bag down, you now have an oily mess on your counter to clean up. This has not only happened at this location but also the location on Tapo Canyon. They are probably owned by the same person. Will have to try LA Avenue next and see if the packaging is any better.

Discount code shows valid to me!!!

Just inside the door it was obvious to get a place to sit you better be seated "now!" Everyone was eating, tables were covered with food, it looked great. Our order was taken, the person taking the order was quick, to the point and was not asking how my mother was doing. We were there to eat-not socialize. The receipt was ripped off and passed over with a flick. No instruction given like 'they'll call your number' or 'you pick up over there.' In the next 5 minutes if you paid attention for about 20 seconds you learned how things worked. It was busy, plates looked great and the aroma inside the place was something else. Our food came quick, we sat and began to peel open our pastrami dip sandwiches. Oh, they smelled great. They looked great. The meat was delicious, melt-in-your mouth tender. They did notice us! They like us! I could not imagine how much better a pastrami sandwich could have been. The bread was very good too-you know the Earl of Sandwich was onto to something way back when....the combination of meat and bread was great. The Hat has numerous other locations in the LA area...if you want a beyond generous sandwich you must stop and order the pastrami.

The Dutch crunch bread type was very interesting and a must try,if you have never had it. I had everything on it. Mustard, mayo lettuce, tomato, pickles. Not sure what else was in it other than avocado but it was amazing. Customer service was much to be desired and the dude with the long dirty blonde hair definitely needs some lessons with explaining kindly rather than just pointing at a sign. This dude shouldn't be at the front line taking orders, who knows how much business he's losing as a result of his public social skills. Placing an order. Speaking with this guy was a very unpleasant experience. The owner needs to record the interaction and reactions of the employees and customers to see what's going in. The food? Fantastic! Couldn't recommend a better place to order a sandwich from. Service not so much. Would have given at least a 4 ,but again customer service skills is lacking here. The sandwich maker with the brown short hair is really nice and pleasant to interact with. Maybe ted Nugent should watch how he interacts with the public. Update: Mgmnt got back really quick and remediated the issue with the employee and hopefully improves over time. Sometimes, that's all it takes to get the full 5* stars, thanks Steve!

I decided to go with The Lake show sandwich, cause I love the Lakers and I love salami. In addition to salami, the sandwich came with their bomb sauce, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pickles. The sandwich was served hot and it was absolutely delicious. With every bite I experienced so many flavor notes. It was savory, a little sour, vinegary and also a little sweet from the ripe veggies. The yummy salami was perfectly complemented by the other ingredients and each bite was perfect, especially with the sourdough bread that I chose for my sandwich. For salami lovers, The Lake Show sandwich is top notch and a must try! The customer service was solid and the spot is pretty casual and has some tables i side for dining in. Will come back again when in the area!

Simi is famously very hard on restaurants…read more I hope people come and support this fairly new, small place behind Mcdonalds off Tapo St. I like to check out reviews before I go anywhere, but im glad I didnt read too much into the handful of bad reviews peppered in between these mostly glowing reviews before I had my amazing tender smokey perfect pork ribs, fluffy decadent Mac and cheese and finely chopped red cabbage cole slaw. Im a dude that will specifically search bad reviews, cause those are often more interesting to read. I feel like the handful of bad reviews this spot gets is either from local competition, some people that wish they opened their own joint or from people who would rather have someone lie to them about any situation more serious than an uncomfortable trip to the end of their own driveway I didnt know anything about this place, the owner, or anything else. Still dont really. Just saw it pop up in a Google search for ribs, and was really wanting ribs today. Don't eat out too often tbh, but have been seeking ribs a bit ever since visiting family in Alabama a couple times the past few years. I had a feeling about this place and I was right. The owner was there when I went in. He seems like a very real dude who takes pride in what he does. In this case food. Sometimes a very real dude like that isnt going to give you some real smooth type customer service experience. My customer service was great. Just saying I could see how it could go different if there was a rush or something. Doesn't take away from the clean presentation of this no nonsense establishment and the very high quality of the food. I hope this place ends up with enough customers so they can pay someone to smile and nod to anyone that cant appreciate that this is a real authentic homegrown kind of place that, frankly, kicks the crap out of most places that wouldnt have the time or energy to put the level of detail I had in my food. This place is old school and I guarantee not only will you enjoy not feeling like you were served by a bot who used an AI chef, as a lot of other places feel these days, youll also agree the food is really good.

The good news is, I think I'll be back at some point so I'll update my review with food pics. The restaurant is take out only. I recommend calling ahead so you don't have to wait. That's what I did and I didn't have to wait. I think the earlier you get food the more likely you are to have the full menu at your disposal. They were basically out of desserts by 5p on a Saturday. But honest I didn't come for the dessert. I came for the meat and meat is what I got. I ordered a rack of baby back ribs. They were flavorful and very meaty. It wasn't a chilis size rack it was more of a Fred flintstone size rack. I'm exaggerating but you get it. I also ordered a 1/4 lb of brisket. It wasn't juicy and fatty. Not sure if they offer a lean cut. But if juice is what you're are looking for this would deliver. The sides I got were potato salad = good, mac and cheese = slightly better than good, baked beans = not good. The baked beans were so tomato heavy. Maybe that's a Tex mex baked bean and if so I don't need it. They tasted as if there was no brown sugar or sweetening agent in them at all. Again maybe it is just a preference thing. I would not order them again. The ribs were tender and the sauce was very nice. It was a sweet sauce which I love so if that's your bag get ready to enjoy. I would like to try the beef ribs and the sandwiches they offer. Next time I'm on Tapo Street, BBQ will be on the menu.
