In town for a Standford Clinic and only having a short time for lunch we decided on Jersey Mike's knowing it's quick, fresh and tasty. Son ordered Hot Pastrami w/Provolone plain. He knows what he likes. Went to school on the east coast and Jersey Mike's reminds me of sub sandwiches we would get.... I have no idea why I decided to ordered a California type sandwich; Turkey, Bacon and Avocado w/Provolone. The person taking our order was somewhat rude....well just not friendly. This was our second time to eat Jersey Mike's (previously was a year or more ago and at a different location). So as we went down the line and we were being asked questions I had to keep asking more of him to be able to answer. I had to explain more than once we aren't regulars and I don't know my options. Such as bread we were asked what kind of bread, did we want white? I didn't see a picture or a list of bread types and he didn't offer. When ordering my sons I explained Pastrami, Provolone hot and nothing else. On mine I ordered Turkey, Provolone and asked if they had bacon and avacado. The guy behind the counter said yes, that's the California, it's not on the menu.... Ok, 2nd visit ever - how am I supposed to know. Alright so then I said and everything on it. We paid and went and sat as long line was pushing us.... Someone delivered my sons sandwich and then asked what I wanted on mine. I said everything again and said I'll just come in. Multiple times I stated I want mayo and mustard on the bread. Only to have the guy squirt mustard on the Avocado spread. I said again please put it on the bread; I hate dry bread. He said ya, I got it - look. Too which I had to remind him that's not the bread that's the avacado on the bread. Finally he got it and put mayo on the other slice of bread and again we went down the list of EVERYTHING. The sandwiches were tasty. My sons was the large one, being a plain meat and cheese sandwich I always order him a larger one or double the meat and I'm willing to pay for it. But $16 for a plain sub sandwich is crazy. Finally decided to give this place a try. So, I ordered a regular Pastrami & Swiss on white which I use to judge all sandwich shops. In the world of thinly sliced, shaved type pastrami, Jersey Mike's can't beat Togo's. Sorry! JM is not as juicy or flavorful. But, it's still a good effort. Normally I'm totally in love with this place but, and it could just be because of covid-19, I ordered a sub. I have no idea what size I was getting because there are no sizes on their online ordering platform. So I measured it using a selfie stick that I measured when I got home. The packaging was about 9 in long but the sandwich itself was about 8 in. So 8 inch sub for $10 & change with no drink or chips. If you are budgeting during the covid-19 financial fallout, maybe try Subway where I paid $12 and some change for a 12 in sub, chips and a drink. read more

My first time going to this place was just the other day and I was very impressed by the way the food handlers had very clean stations and handled the food properly in a very sanitary manner.The manager handled his crew with professionalism it didn't return his crew conducted themselves with delightful attitudes. First time at any Jersey Mike's. I ordered the #43 Chipotle Cheese Steak. It was really hot temperature wise. I should have asked him to toast the bread, I will next time. Sandwich was pretty good. The flow of the place is odd, you order on the left, he gives you an invoice, you take that to the end of the line on the right, pay, then get back in line to tell him what you want on your sandwich. Why they designed the flow this way is a mystery. At Subway you order on the left, move along the line and tell them what you want on your sandwich, then pay at the end when it's all done. Welcome to the neighborhood, Jersey Mike's! This Jersey Mike's location offers excellent customer service, a large seating area (interior and exterior combined), and tasty sandwiches that are made with fresh ingredients. During my first trip, I ordered a sandwich called Jersey Shore's Favorite ($7.50 regular size, aka medium). Jersey Shore's Favorite originally came with provolone cheese, ham, and cappacuolo, but I made sure to ask for it to be made "Mike's Way," which meant the sandwich also came with onions, lettuce, tomatoes, an olive oil blend, red wine vinegar, and spices. What I enjoyed most about the sandwich was the meat to bread ratio; every employee who makes your sandwich will weigh the meat in your sandwich so you always get the perfect amount every time you visit. Additionally, while this Jersey Mike's location only offers two bread options (white and wheat), it's not that big of a deal, as the bread here is only used as a vehicle to get the tasty meat and veggies down your gullet. Many other sandwich shops try to mask the flavor of their meats and veggies by using large pieces of bread with random flavors infused in them; you won't find that at Jersey Mike's. Also, the individual peanut butter cookies are to die for... ...I just wish they were bigger! Regarding the customer service, everyone from the sandwich makers to the store manager were beyond nice during my first visit. The only minor problem I had was that the person who made my sandwich never asked me what size I wanted, and he automatically prepared a regular size instead of a small or large (it ended up being the perfect size sandwich for this visit, but next time I'll probably want a large). Also, the sandwiches are a little more expensive than other shops nearby, but you're getting quality ingredients here, so it makes sense. Is Jersey Mike's as good as the "real" delis and sandwich shops on the East Coast? No, but they still make good sandwiches, so I'll definitely be back in the near future. read more

Ever since I knew that this place was open for business, I kept telling myself to come by and try it out. Last week, I finally did. A little history lesson before the actual review... The space that this place occupies was once an extension of the CVS next door that, if I remember correctly, sold cosmetic products. Years ago, the space had no wall and was a complete part of the CVS store that exists today. Actual review... Jersey Mike's isn't as ubiquitous in the Bay Area as, let's say, Subway or Togo's. I'm still not entirely sure what Jersey Mike's niche, if you will, is. Regardless, based upon my two experiences at this particular location, I'd say I'm impressed. Facts: * They have cold subs, hot subs, wraps, kids sandwiches and combo meals. Last week, I ordered the #17 Jersey Mike's Famous Philly sandwich from the hot sub menu. It was very moist, but the beef was tender and it wasn't ridiculously hot or lukewarm. The temp was just right. Today, I decided to subtract from 10 and I ordered the #7 Turkey Breast and Provolone sandwich from the cold sub menu. These guys don't mess around when it comes to oil and vinegar. The paper that the sandwich was wrapped in had oil practically seeping from it. The turkey was plentiful and tender. * This isn't like Subway or Togo's where you choose your bread before they build your sandwich. Each sandwich comes with its own particular type of bread. * Another reason Mike's is not like Subway or Togo's is that they don't toast your sandwiches for you. If you don't want your sub cold, order a hot one. * One other reason for why Mike's is not like Subway or Togo's is that they customize your sandwiches (at least the cold subs that is) in the opposite way that the aforementioned sub shops do. By default, they will add a number of toppings/condiments (Mike's Way) unless you ask them not to add a certain topping or not to add anything at all. * And one other other reason for why Mike's is not like Subway or Togo's is that all meat is sliced right in front of you. I actually like it better that way. The ordering process is simple. You walk in, place your order (sandwich sizes are small, regular or large), they'll write your name and give you a piece of paper to give to the cashier, they prepare your sandwich, you pay and then you either stay or leave. So far, so good. Only reason this place isn't five stars is that, while I like this place so far, they haven't been absolutely amazing. Don't get me wrong. They're still great. So, I just went in to try it for first time. Totally empty. There was a sign about wear a mask but since I have a first amendment right to NOT wear a mask, I smiled and said. "Don't have a mask" Little Hitler behind the plexiglass that could stop a bullet got belligerent. I said "you got one for me" and he in a huff tossed me something that looked like a feminine product. I just held it and he got more huffy and insistent that I put it on. I forced a smile and said I don't wear a mask. Then he said he would throw me out if I didn't wear it. I towered above him and had at least 100 lbs on him. I forced another smile and said "right" and continued to look at menu thinking that he might be new. I thought that management would recognize that their employees should be service oriented and that he would calm down. Still no one else in the store and no one behind me. "we can't serve you!!" was his last retort. I threw his kotex napkin back and him and said: Good, I didn't want to eat at this place anyhow. And left. It takes me back to going to Blimpie after a middle school soccer game with my parents but with WAY better ingredients! Why? We tried this place out with the free coupons and not sure what they offer that is better than Togos. They only offer 2 kinds of breads, wheat or white. I ordered the club sub and it was ok. I opted for the "Mike's Way" with onions, lettuce, tomatoes, olive oil blend, red wine vinegar and spices. They poured way too much olive oil and vinegar on my sandwich. The bread was really soggy/mushy at the bottom. I did not like that and almost did not eat it. It's priced a little more than ToGos and at ToGos I get a variety of breads and cheeses to choose from. I wish I could give this place 10 stars! We only discovered Jersey Mike's Subs a few weeks back, but already it's my favorite sandwich spot. This place is just beyond amazing. It's location is perfect; easy to see from the road. Also, the staff are just so pleasant and friendly. The establishment is very clean as well. I went in twice this week and the staff have been very interactive each time. They talk to their customers, ask them questions about their day, and so on.
