I had no idea that Jersey Mike existed out in Los Angeles. I had first heard of it a couple of years ago from friends and also saw the chain on the Travel Channel. During my recent stay in the city, my uncle suggested that we pick up some subs from there on our way to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum to go watch USC play. Although I'm not a big fan of chains, In N Out being an exception, I decided to actually agree and must admit that I was quite excited. From what I had heard, Jersey Mikes essentially kicks Subway in the ass. Their subs are supposed to taste way better and way fresher and although the prices are a bit higher, the value is supposed to be significantly better. We proceeded to park and I quickly leaped out of the car and right into the joint; I was followed by my uncle. After glancing at the menu, I decided to try and keep it fairly healthy and went for a regular #7 - fat-free turkey and provolone. I was then asked if I wanted white or wheat bread and decided to go for the latter. Within just instants, the friendly staff member sliced the bread to order and promptly pilled some very thinly sliced turkey and some cheese before passing the sandwich to his co-worker on his right. I was then asked what I wanted on it - I saw that they advertised on the store, on one of their posters, that you could have your sandwich the "Mike Way" which essentially means lettuce, tomatoes, onions, spices, oil and vinegar. I decided to go for that since it seemed to be a pretty popular option based on the fact that it was heavily marketed. Again, the employee piled everything, then shook some spices on top and poured the oil and vinegar onto it before wrapping it to go. The speed, efficiency and friendliness of the staff was refreshing. Fast-forward about an hour and we're at the USC campus, surrounded by tailgating Trojan fans and find a bench. I impatiently unwrap my sub and dig in. It was delicious from the first to the last bite. It tasted delicious and was only $7.50, which really wasn't bad considering the size and quality of the sandwich. I'm really hoping that they'll be opening some more locations within Massachusetts where I live. I'd love to be able to go there once in a while. It's definitely a nice upgrade from Subway. On the downside, the employee put way too much oil and vinegar on my sandwich and parts of it were a bit soggy. Still delicious regardless, but soggy. read more

Very congenial staff, everything as fresh as it gets and very good portions of meat and veg in every sandwich. On one visit the sandwich maker made my wife's sandwich "Mike's Way" even though my wife doesn't like most of the Mike's Way ingredients. I wasn't watching so I just paid for the two sandwiches and left the store. Before I got to my car she was running out apologizing and said she'd make a replacement sandwich if I could wait just a minute. She refused payment for the extra sandwich but it was made just right. Pluses over Subway is that Mike's sandwiches have more of the protein ingredients than Subway. Pluses for Subway is that Subway has a wider choice of breads and oils and spreads and ingredients. Subway prices are generally lower than Mike's except that Subway does not have a match for Mike's "Mini" size. Mike's Tarzana store has great parking compared tp Subway and other Jersey Mike's stores. read more

I go to Jersey Mike's all the time, and normally they are great, especially this location, but today I had these blood spots on the turkey throughout my sandwich. I asked them to take them out, which they did or at least I thought they did, but when I got home and opened my sandwich there were a ton more. Also, when I asked the second person to take out the other one that I saw, she literally threw out the entire slice, so there was no turkey on that portion, just bread. What the heck is the matter with you? I only get turkey on the sandwich, so first there should be more turkey to sub the cheese and then you aren't going to add another slice? Absolutely ridiculous. Never going to this location again. I tipped them as well because I thought they at least took out all of the bloody parts, but clearly that wasn't the case. read more

I tried this place on a Saturday, and it was packed. Easily ten people ahead of me, but it moved quick and the staff seemed to have efficiency down to an art form. It's a basic looking sandwich shop with a few tables but like myself, most people were ordering to go. I went with the Big Kahuna cheese steak in the largest size and the Jersey Mike's favorite, jersey mike's style. The cheese steak was really very good. Plenty of cheese, not too many jalapenos, the steak was decent quality and cooked fine. Oh, and it was huge. I nommed it in one sitting, but this thing could have been lunch for two - no problem. I'll come back just for this one. One of these and a coke, OMG heaven. The Jersey Mike's favorite on the other hand, was just okay. It wasn't bad at all, but there was nothing special about it. It was comparable to anything from subway or quiznos or any other sandwich shop. If this had been the only thing I tried, I'd probably not be going back. I realize that a sandwich is a sandwich but if it's the signature sub, gotta make it memorable. I'm giving them 4 stars as my new cheese steak joint. This is my fav location in the area. Whenever I have come here, I get good service. The shop is clean, the chips are always stocked and the parking is easy. The workers greet you when you come in and are friendly. They are careful to make your sandwich neat and the bread always tastes fresh. I'm not a fan of chains, but based on the many positive Yelp reviews, I decided to give Jersey Mike's a try. When I walked through the front door, there was a long line of customers waiting to place their orders, which seemed to be a good sign. As the line slowly crept forward, I placed my order for a medium Italian sub. They have a two step assembly process where your sub is loaded with meat, then onto the next step where it is dressed to order. I got mine to go, and jumped back in the car and drove home. Ten minutes later, I sat down to eat my sub, and was pleasantly surprised. While the bread did not look that great, it had a nice thin crust that gave way to soft chewiness inside, then augmented by cornmeal on the bottom which added to the roll's flavor profile. Even better, I could taste each of the 4 meats on the sub, which was particularly satisfying. The crisp lettuce, nice ripe tomatoes, and vinegar, oil, and herbs stood out distinctly. I will most certainly be back again - if my first sub from Jersey Mike's is any indication of what I can consistently expect, I'll quickly become a regular! read more

I have been to Jersey Mikes tons of times and love the food. This location in Tarzana is so slow on service during their lunch rushes. This has happened to me multiple times at this location. One time I started my timer when I got there and there was like 10 people ahead of me and it took 22 minutes until I got to the register to pay for my food. I write this so that hopefully the owners will see this and get their staff better trained to deal with rushes. read more

This establishment is very interesting. 2 out of the three times I've been here the staff was super nice but the very first time I came here it seemed like they just wanted to close shop and not help us. And here we go...my faithful go-to lunch spot on a busy workday. Jersey Mike's in Tarzana is awesome. I've eaten at Jersey Mike's since high school in western PA when I would share a #13 with my Mom regularly. Every Jersey Mike's I've been to seems to hire the same types of people. Usually young guys, friendly, conversational, and seemingly happy to be there. Unlike other sub places or fast food restaurants, the employees here rarely turnover and must be well taken care of. They actually talk to you, some remember your name, and they slice the meat and cheese right in front of you. The tomatoes are actually red (believe it or not) and the lettuce is crisp. Their subs have enough sodium to swell up your face for a week, but they are so good that I can't resist! One of the things that really defines a restaurant experience for many is the people, and the Tarzana crew does a uniquely great job in making you feel welcome and that your business is appreciated. Been coming to this store since the first day they opened. This current management has really let this place slip...yesterday the guy behind the counter was rude, short with me, and when I made the mistake of asking him if he was working on my sub he didn't even ask how I preferred mine. When I told him the specifics, he yanked the food off the roll and tossed it back in with the other tubs. I specifically said no onions and just a little lettuce and this guy piled it on. We came here a few months ago and I'm surprised I did not write this review sooner, but people need to know the truth about the business they are going to. I would not be writing this review, but this ranks probably in the top 5 of worst customer service experiences I have been in. The girls at the counter were fighting over who should make our sandwich and they were acting like we were not even standing in front of them. There was no thank you or anything. I love Jersey Mikes! This place is always a sure bet. Subway and Quiznos are forever ruined for me since I was introduced to this place. The #9 (Turkey & Roast beef) or the #13 (Italian) are my favorites. Be sure to get them "Mike's way" if you know what's good for you. If you want a hot sandwich, the chipotle cheesesteak is good too. The people working here actually are friendly and seem happy to make your sandwich! What a concept, right? This one seems to have better chip selection than the Woodland Hills shop. Call me crazy, I think the sandwiches taste better here too, so I'll travel the extra few miles. As far as fast food goes...Jersey Mike's is among the best. And I'm not a big one for fast food, but if you want a delicious satisfying hot sandwich that's fast and easy then Jersey Mike's is it. I first had Jersey Mike's in Virginia on a trip to visit a friend over three years ago. He actually made it a point to take me to Jersey Mike's for lunch knowing we didn't have them in California (at the time), and he was right, it was delicious. Then I started realizing that they were popping up closer to home (or maybe I had just never noticed) and I'm happy to know this one is here in Tarzana...not really close to where I live but close to where I sometimes hike. I usually like them but I also think they are over priced compared to the rest. So now as they say they are helping others with there 1/2 off special, we went by to give them another try. The guy running the meat slicer was a pretty unhappy guy. Not a good start. With millions of people unemployed you would think they could be pleasant and happy they even have a job. 1/2 off sandwich? What they did was to remove most of the meat. Both my wives and my sandwich had 2 ultra-thin slices of meat each and was basically a bread sandwich. You could buy extra meat for $4.95! Now I bowl over at Corbin bowl so i usually like to get something healthy and fresh but First of all I wanted to state that this jersey mikes is really stingy on the meat and bacon! If I wanted less meat i would go to subway! This is absolutely ridiculous. Why are you so stingy on the meat?! Oh and another note your employees did not know what they were doing at all!
