I will not go to this Jersey Mike's, in West Orange, New Jersey, again. I specifically told the person making my sub what I wanted on the sandwich but the person making the sandwich put cheese on the sandwich after I specifically said "No cheese." I have a dairy intolerance and I did not notice that the sandwich had cheese because of the lettuce. I realized that the sandwich had cheese on it when I was almost done eating the second half of the sandwich. As a result, I felt sick shortly after I ate the sandwich. Because of social distancing, I was unable to watch the sandwich being prepared. This is the third time that my specific dietary requests were not followed by the staff. They either do not listen to their customers or do what they want regardless of the requests made by their customers. First off, I'd like to point out that it's usually pretty difficult to find parking in front of the store since it shares parking with a Chipotle next door. Fortunately, there's ample space in the main parking area since it's located in a large shopping plaza. The establishment is clean, contains enough seating if you choose to eat there, and has friendly staff. There's a clear view of when they make your order so you have the ability to tell the employee exactly how you want your sandwich to be so it's to your liking. The employees will slice the meat on order, the ingredients are fresh, and so far I haven't had any issues with the quality of food. If you aren't a fan of the cold subs, they also have hot subs available as well including cheesesteaks and pastrami. Some of my favorites off the menu are #9 (Club Supreme), #13 (The Original Italian), and #17 (Jersey Mike's Famous Philly Cheese Steak). The #17 can be pretty spicy so if that's not to your liking you can request to have it without the peppers. As for the staff, I've always had good interactions with them. The staff tends to have some turnover due to a majority of the employees being college-aged, but I've found a lot of the workers to be friendly and attentive. I've seen the owner around a couple times and he actually helps out by taking down orders for hot subs and conversing with customers. I can appreciate an owner that shows passion for his establishment and isn't afraid to get involved with day-to-day operations. OTHER USEFUL INFO -Make sure to put in your phone number every time you make an order. There is a rewards program that awards you free sandwiches depending on the amount of points you accumulate from multiple purchases. -Uber Eats is available if you want delivery. FINAL THOUGHTS This place has been one of my go-to destinations whenever my family is hungry because of their customer service and great subs. Wow the worst jersey mikes I have ever been too! I saw the workers making rude gestures to customers! I order a tuna and ask for light tuna. There girl came back and It look like she put the whole container on it. Really? Hello I said light tuna. She took it back with an attitude and took off a small amount! I didn't even want to tell her it was still too much. I just waited until I got it and I remove most of it on my own! What a waste! I went in the middle of the day everyone in there looked like they had enough and was done for the day! On top of it all a customer was ordering while on the phone. Hello did you not see the sign that says please don't not use your phone while ordering! They should of said something or not take his order! There was 5 people ordering but it took forever. Disappointed that no staff wore masks last week . There is no safety precautions - the persons making the sandwiches basically are leaning breathing over and coughing over the lettuce etc. while making the sandwiches. Great new food option. Didn't have high expectations being that it's a sub chain, but this place is on a different tier than places like subway & quiznos (does quiznos still exist?). Terrible catering service! I recently ordered 3 boxes of subs (which cost more than the usual subs) and was so disappointed with the LACK OF MEAT! There were maybe two slices of meat in each sub which is frustrating when I annoying more than a normal sub. Also, I had to ask for mayo and mustard. Usually when I cater at other locations I am always given mayo and mustard as well as banana peppers, pickles, and jalapeños. Also--they had no plates!! No plates when you offer catering?? They have a rewards program so you get a free sandwich every so often. The staff is personable, efficient and industrious; even when there is a line you usually get your sandwich in under 5 minutes from when you place your order. Small flat screens around the shop show sports games. A total win if you are looking for a good, solid sandwich. My only gripe: no olives of any kind to be found!!! This location is so close to where I live that I WANTED to love it (everyone needs a neighborhood sandwich spot!) but I just couldn't. I just think they have little options especially when it comes to vegetarians. But I am always so impressed with the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. I was just in the store, and there is a bug in the online system which prevented me from ordering. Almost every time I go here, they get my order wrong. If you order the club and you don't specify bacon (which is in the description,) they don't put it on. I never order subs with dressing on it and I only ask for lettuce on half a giant sub. They have yet to understand what lettuce on half a sub means. It's not a difficult order. I usually watch everything they do but the last time I was there, I had the added bonus of a beggar coming in and asking JM patrons for "a couple bucks," so he took my attention away from the person putting together my sub and my order of "a giant #8 on white with lettuce on half the sub" was a disaster. I like Jersey Mike's cause let's face it....it's notches above Subway. I don't always go because it is a bit pricy for a sandwich (expect to pay over $10 for a full meal) but if you're in the mood for one, this location is pretty solid. Clean, never overly busy, and the staff does a decent job. My go to is the original italian, but they have a lot of choices for both hot and cold subs, and warps and lower carb options as well. Tucked to the side of the shopping plaza, it is probably easier to park in the main lot as spaces are a bit limited and getting out can be a bit of a hassle. read more

When it comes to sandwiches I'm particularly hard to impress. I'm an obvious foodie and I absolutely love a great sandwich. I've only been here once but that will soon change, as of today to be honest. Lol. The employees were young and great. Happy and vibrant, polite and comforting. They asked if it was our first time and we got a united "Welcome to Jersey Mike's!" They have about twenty sandwiches both hot and cold to choose from and the employees boast of having the greatest Philly cheese steaks in North Jersey. We got a Big Kahauna Philly on wheat and an Italian sandwich with the works. I think it had pepperoni, salami, ham, provolone and the "Mike way" which is white onion, tomato, lettuce, red wine vinegar, olive oil, herbs, salt and pepper. We got the giant size because, hell, we were hungry and being greedy. The giant is huge like Wow, really?! But yes, yes you will entertain gluttony and eat the whole damned thing. That's right all 15 inches of it and by God you will be unashamed and satisfied afterward! I must say of the two sandwiches I really enjoyed the Italian one more, the Philly he chose had jalapeño and banana peppers which was good but I'm a more mushroom, onion, pepper kinda Philly cheese steak girl. Overall, I loved it. A lot. I'm not a big fan of Subways or Quiznos but Jersey Mike has my loyalty and I'm excited about our future food ventures. read more
