Quality meats and cheeses from Boar's Head and Thumann's

My favorite deli in the downtown. Jersey Subs is right across from my office on Church Street and so I'm here just about every other week grabbing breakfast or lunch from their menu. They always make great subs and soups and now that they have breakfast, I can catch them earlier in the day for a hot bagel & egg sandwich as well. Prices are always good and if you're going to be working in the downtown area of New Brunswick, spots like this are crucial. They have large catering sandwiches as well for sporting events and office lunches with plenty of options that will satisfy even the pickiest of eaters.

Hand for reference, these subs are huge

Not to be confused with the Jersey Mike's chain, this family owned standalone sub shop is a real treat. Located near the heart of downtown New Brunswick, this is easily the best spot for subs in the area. Having been to a number of quality sub shops around Jersey: Tastee's, Big Wally's, Riddle & Martin, I can say this easily ranks in the top 5 on my list. The meats are piled high, the bread is soft and not stale, the veggies are fresh and crisp and they got all the toppings right. I had past by this place many a time and boy to I regret waiting so long to try it. Amazing food, will be back soon.

    Best tuna ever!

I only come here for the tuna. Weird, I know when I can make tuna right from a can at home. But then again can't we make all the food that we spend a ton of money on at restaurants ? #questionsIneedanswered. Despite that, their tuna is simply amazing. I don't know but there's just something about it and I'm pretty sure in my many years of existence I have never tasted tuna as delicious as the one that they serve here at Jersey Subs. Take my word, visit and enjoy a bowl of tuna. Of course not just alone either. I always enjoy my tuna with some crackers. Simple, good and allows for the perfect little midday snack/ lunch. The people here are very friendly so I never mind coming in and spending the money. Also, a word to the wise, get there before the lunch crowd because boy does it get packed!

    Awesome.

This is literally the best sub shop around, bar none. This place has been open since 1969 for a reason - Deli meats are as fresh as it gets, service is lightning fast, and the average half sub costs about 5-6 bucks. I really do mean lightning fast, go any weekday at lunch and you'll find a line that doubles all the way back around. Fear not, Jersey Subs has a super efficient assembly line to get you in and out. Think of the sub version of Seinfeld's Soup Nazi; be prepared to place your order when you're called. Subs are available in wheat and white and you get all extras you could want. My personal favorites are the "Jersey Super" or the Club w/ Bacon. If there has to be a downside it's that they close early (3-4pm). "Serving New Brunswick with fast friendly service since 1969".

Pastrami sub .. nom nom nom

Honestly, I'm not really a big fan of subs ... but whenever I'm craving for subs, this is the place! Well actually this is the place other than Subways and Jersey Mike's for me! The place is almost always crowded ... however the line is pretty quick. The staff works fast and efficient to get the line moving. Great subs, great prices, great portion! Try the pastrami with provolone! It's so yummy! Fresh bread, fresh meat! They have a pretty balance meat / bread ratio but I still wish they put a bit more meat on my sandwich. Not their fault tho' .. It's just me, I eat more meat that average people.

In NB for quick business so I googled best hoagie and this came up. Far from the best. The bread was too soft and they use Boars Head meats. Nothing special but it scratched an itch. Nice people. Wawa is better.

She engaged in conversation with me, as I am not from Jersey and helped me with the menu clarity. There is no parking lot here, but alot of street parking. Inside is very clean with a gender neutral bathroom and some cute decor. The prices are decent. Dessert pieces are a little pricey, but very big. They do have soo many sweet treats. They also have specialty turkish sweets and others such as cheesecake, dubai chocolate, parfaits & other things that I do not even know the name of. I wish i could try them all without getting cavities haha. When I come back to Jersey I will definitely be coming back to this cafe as it is a hot commodity to me!

I wish I had tried this muchhhh sooner-- 1st time; Tried the Iced Caramel Voltage. It was sooo good, perfectly sweet and the quality of the coffee was well roasted. 2nd time; Tried the Iced Crème Brûlée Latte. Also very delicious, they mix vanilla powder into the milk and it's so flavorful! My friend tried the hot Biscoff Latte and also absolutely loved it-- Sooo many options on the menu and sweet treats to choose from (it can get overwhelming!) My only note is that they only had one person running the shop both times I visited and there was quite some traffic for one person to handle. The other time visiting, they were mostly out of select coffees, decaf, etc by Noon and limited w milk stock.

What caught my eye was the New Orleans brew. The barista was helpful in explaining what it was and if anyone has ever had coffee from New Orleans you would know the chicory flavor is a game changer. I had their version of the New Orleans brew iced without the simple syrup and I was impressed. The coffee needed no sugar. It was a bold and smooth taste that blended well with the almond milk. On our way to the café, we were pleasantly surprised by a tour of Rutgers. The staff at Hidden Grounds are incredibly friendly and welcoming. They're particularly known for their chai, so my friend ordered a Rose Chai over ice, while I opted for a Hot Dirty Chai. Another friend chose the Honey Bee Latte, also over ice. The chai is amazing--it's aromatic and captures the essence of a proper chai. The Rose Chai was very good too, perfectly balanced! Overall, it's a great coffee shop with a lovely space for everyone to sit and enjoy their drinks.
