3.5 stars [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seated in one of those private booths but you can pretty much hear people's conversations if they were sitting near you.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I guess some might like the fan in the booth... you get somewhat fresher air.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our waiter explained how we can order from the iPad. We ordered braised pork belly, shrimp with walnuts, mapo tofu, and 2 rice bowls. We also ordered the pineapple beer cuz why not. It's a gimmick but we were curious. There's so lil alcohol in it but so much liquid to drink. It's definitely too much for just 2 ppl. Something to try with a group but it's really just sparkling pineapple juice with a touch of beer. Good thing I didn't order any cocktails cuz I was full from pineapple juice/water. They bring a lil bowl of salad with chili oil dressing which L ate and he said it was pretty good. Everything came shortly after one another. Service was pretty good considering we were on the other side of the restaurant, L's water was always refilled a min or so after he finished it. The shrimps were big. I had 2 pieces but it was covered in sauce, lil too much for me but great for L. The walnuts aren't sweet like Cantonese style. The mapo tofu is also lil spicier. The pork belly does have some black tea flavor and L loved the lil plums in the dish. Prices are comparable to the other more upscale restaurants in Flushing. I wasn't that hungry, so we took the pork belly and mapo tofu home after having a taste. Very efficient service, friendly and everyone we dealt with spoke English. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I think I might've enjoyed it more if I sat in the main dining room for a more themed experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]
Absolutely loved the pineapple beer here and the Peking duck. The pineapple beer felt more like a sparkling water with pineapple as opposed to the bitterness of beer. As someone who doesn't like beer, this drink proved to me otherwise. The Peking duck can get a little messy as they didn't provide any gloves or wipes to make your wrap. The duck felt very fresh, and crispy, a bit of fat. There are a lot of spicy dishes on the menu, which can get a little distracting, however we were still able to pick a few dishes that were not spicy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Immaculate bathroom.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]
Recommended by a friend who lives in NY so decided to stop by with my mom. Think elevated chinese food. Food was good, albeit a little pricey. We ordered 1/2 peking duck, fried rice, chow mein (noodles), snow peas and soup dumplings. I don't remember the exact name of all of the dishes but everything tasted great. Service was good. Everyone spoke chinese but i think they speak english too lol. Parking in this neighborhood is terrible so good luck finding street parking. There are parking lots around. Would want to come again to with more so we can try a variety of other dishes. We definitely ordered way too much for two ppl this time lol Took a star off because of price.
We ended up here late last night for a bite to eat. We ordered a handful of things, most of the menu not in English, so be prepared if you are like us and only speak English. The food itself was phenomenal, our service was great, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]where they sat us was a semi private space and it had a space heater which was incredible after walking around on a rainy spring day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]
I would it rate a 4.5 star if possible. Many hits but a few misses. The peking duck here is very good. Not the most authentic but still very good. The braised rice with black truffle and mushroom is one of my favorite dishes in the city. Full of umami. The kung pao chicken was very sweet. The lamb skewer was good but the picture was bigger than the actual portion. Service was good.
If you're in the mood for something a little different then come here and sample their offerings. I was with a group over the weekend who ordered a delicious Szechuan style boiled whole fish in a container with molded dragons and a small flame under to keep it warm. The rest of our order was Peking Duck Half, Sautéed Water Spinach, Soup Dumplings, Fried Salted Egg Yolk Pumpkin, Sautéed Tofu with crab meat, Steam Shrimp w/ Vermicelli in garlic sauce with orders of rice. Such a great medley of flavors. I also had a passion fruit mojito drink which was a great addition. Service was timely by staff when one ordered from the tablet left at the table.
This was probably some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. My friend and I recently got stranded in New York due to a snow storm - and we ended up in Flushing for the night. We walked in with no reservation on a Sunday evening - and the place was clearly quite full, but we were given a table right away. I had the pork soup dumplings and noodles with scallops and shrimp. Both were exceptional. My friend is vegan and was able to order rice and they had a mushroom stir-fry on special - which was so delightfully flavorful. I also really loved the pickled veggies they give at the start of the meal. The concept of ordering on iPads was interesting - I appreciated the ability to order at our own pace, but it did make it difficult to ask for clarification on certain things. Overall, delicious experience!
Clean fast service! Constantly had water refilled. Smoked pork neck visually was impressive. Tasted yummy too. Fried rice with scallop: scallops tasted yummy! They left them whole (yay) instead of shredding them. Pea shoots: solid. Big, leafy, and stir fried. Salted egg pumpkin: also good! Came in 5pm on a Sunday. It was crowded when I left. Expensive but it was a nice after a long day of travelling.
Yummy food! Stopped by for a family dinner, super long wait though (could be from the extra crowd going to the blackpink concert), Peking duck wrap, cumin lamb on sizzling plate, stir fried string beans, sliced pork belly with garlic are good :) Expect a long wait for the seats, make a reservation before coming to save some wait time or else it could be 45 min to an hour especially for larger groups, 4 people is a better size, but with more people you can try more dishes. They use mini table for the waitlist. Price is also a bit higher so more for special occasions and celebrations.
Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon with the family to celebrate an anniversary. I also made a reservation but didn't really need to as the place wasn't full during our visit. For our table of 4, they gave us two tablets to order from and it was neat how the tablets were synced so that any items added to the order would appear on both. They still have outdoor and indoor seating available. We tried both new dishes and old favorites. New dishes we tried were cumin lamb, crème brûlée, braised rice with black truffle and mushroom, deep fried tiger prawn with salty egg yolk and home style crispy fish. The old favorite was seafood fried noodles. I've also tried their crab dish which looks good as it's presented in a crab shaped dish but tasted mostly of ginger. The food came out at a good speed and the staff were very proactive in clearing plates. They also offered to help us take a group photo when they noticed that we were taking a selfie. The cumin lamb was very flavorful but also too spicy for my taste buds. I'm a big fan of mushrooms so I was looking forward to the braised rice dish and it did not disappoint. The sauce they used for the rice was very savory and paired well with the mushrooms (not sure I could taste truffle though), I would definitely order this again. Prawns were crispy and coated in salted egg yolk. The home style crispy fish tasted like a slightly sweet version of that canned fried fish many Asian households have. The creme brulee I would pass on as it didn't have much of a sugar layer on top to crack but the brulee was decently creamy. Bathrooms were clean and well kept just like the previous visit.
Came here for dinner with friends. It was a nice celebration. We ordered pineapple beer, braised pork, cumin lamb stir fried, eggplant with peppers, water spinach in fried bean curd sauce, and half peking duck. We really enjoyed all the dishes. Some highlights of the night: The pineapple beer was very worth it for a group of 6 also seemed very tasty for the beer drinkers of our group. The stir fried cumin lamb was a delicious shareable entree for us too. Braised pork shanghainese style was also very good quality. Water spinach in fried beancurd sauce was also perfectly executed as well. The peking duck tasted better than most places (kinda hard to make a unique/distinguished peking duck). My only gripe would be the eggplant, it was overpoweringly sour. Would not recommend. But overall I am very impressed with the average quality of each dish. It's very hard to have a large menu and hit the marks on most of them. So it's very impressive that they hit the mark on all but one dish out of our small sample size of the menu. Truly a great place to enjoy dinner with friends and family.
This place wasn't bad by a long shot but I don't think that it is worth the hype. It's classic Chinese flavors with no outstanding dishes. The pecking duck was good but pricey. Good sauce, good wrappers, and well cooked tender duck with crispy skin. This can get a 10/10 although I fear there maybe better priced ducks in the city The string beans were the other dish I liked very crunchy without being hard and very garlicy and oily. 9/10 The cumin lamb I had high hopes for but was seemingly lacking in flavor to me and my friends. We felt like it could be spicier and all around more savory and flavorful. 7/10 The sour soup I was also not a huge fan of. This one I will qualify by saying it's not one of my favorite dishes but I also felt like it lacked a bit of flavor. Texture of the fish was good though! 7/10 Overall, for the price I don't think Jiang Nan is super worth. The food is definitely decent though - especially dependent on the dish. The interior of this restaurant is also beautiful though and the service was great.

So yummy! Definitely going back. Made a reservation for a party of 9 for Saturday lunch. We were seated promptly and given iPads to order. The food here is definitely on the pricier side but the flavors are definitely good. Everything we ordered and tried tasted good with decent portion sizes considering the price paid. Our group really enjoyed the cumin lamb, their pork rib soup, their fatty beef in golden pepper soup, Peking duck, eggplant in garlic, sirloin with peppers and string beans. The only dish that fell a bit short portion and ingredient wise was the udon, taste was good but also nothing to write home about. Overall, this is a great place to gather with friends and family and for those looking for a slightly nicer restaurant. I am fairly new to Sichuan Fusion and Shanghainese cuisine but I have been wanting to try Jiang Nan Flushing. I have heard that the dining experience here is nothing short of spectacular. After having eaten here I can attest that it is everything and more. They are Michelin recommended for multiple years and continue to be known for serving high quality cuisine in a quietly beautiful upscale space. As for their service, they go above and beyond to ensure that you enjoy your meal from start to finish. Their Peking duck is one of their signature dishes and cannot be missed. I absolutely loved the presentation of each and every dish that I ordered. I ordered several different varieties of soup dumplings but their black truffle soup dumpling really spoke to me. It was beyond delicious! Everything that I ordered on the tablet and was presented to me was visually stunning. A true feast for the eyes and the senses. It is exactly as shown in pictures on social media as well as on their website. It is everything you'd expect and more for a restaurant of this caliber. They go out of their way to ensure that you are loving every minute of your time spent here. An example would be where they quietly change out your plate halfway through your meal. I for one appreciate it when my plate is clean and not a sloppy mess. Their extreme attention to detail, delicious food and warm friendly service establishes them as a real gem. If you want an extraordinary meal experience in Flushing, you should come here. I sadly regret missing their known pineapple beer which I completely forgot about. However it's just one of many reasons why I will need to return haha. There are just so many dishes you'll want to try, so bring your friends and or family. Otherwise you will be like me and will be thinking of when you'll be back again. I highly recommend that you go on their website so that you'll get a preview of just how special this place is. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant is all vibes from the moment you walk in. The decor is upscale, traditional and classy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] All their menu items are presented beautifully, and some even with a show. We ordered the black pepper steak, which they set on fire before serving. We also ordered the pineapple beer which comes with some dry ice for vibes of course. This was delicious but probably had minimal alcohol in it. They serve it in laughably tiny cups so you won't get drunk even if there was more alcohol in it. The Peking duck is a must! They serve it the traditional way with the thin pancakes (which is the better way). I also loved the grilled striped bass in garlic oil. The sauce was so flavorful and created this beautiful bath for the fish. The meat was tender and all the add on toppings were soaked in the sauce. I do wish that it came with some pre-set toppings as they were pricey for such small portions. I loved the salted egg yolk prawns. The shrimps were huge and were coated generously with a sweet and savory seasoning. I wasn't a fan of their soup dumplings, as the skin was too thick for me. Great experience but a very expensive meal so definitely good for a special occasion. read more

The restaurant is spacious and ideal for families or large groups. I honestly think this place is a winner for Peking Duck--it's far better than what I've had at other traditional Peking Duck restaurants. The food comes out quickly, and the staff are friendly and attentive. Prices are a bit on the higher side for the Flushing area, but the quality makes it worth the visit. The pineapple beer was too sweet, almost like juice, and it looked beautiful when served. Drinking it from a sake glass, however, was a bit tricky. Delicious food, loved the pineapple beer! All the dishes were great, fresh, flavorful and thoughtfully prepared. My favorites were the garlic fish, Japanese tofu with seafood, peashoot leaves, tofu with crab sauce. It was convenient ordering from the iPad and staff was very attentive as well. It's been Michelin noted for years... for a reason. So this is a high quality Chinese restaurant with subtle yet great flavors. The decor is that of quiet elegance. The service is also quiet.. you get a tablet to order from. The servers are hovering but not imposing. The food has very delicate flavors. For example cumin lamb, in a lot of places the cumin punches you in the face... not here, it's gentle and kind, but very tasty. The lamb is very thinly sliced, not chewy. The cabbage and pork belly is another gentle yet flavorful dish... no punches, just flavor... very refined flavors I wasn't a fan of the fish in the grass fish and veggies fish.. it was chewy, I did not like that texture at all. The veggie, lotus root, pepper and peanuts were delicious, so again the flavor was great. The glutinous rice fingers, omg, amazing! Sweet, chewy, a little savory.... Even the pickled cabbage too snack on was yummy. The truffle soup dumplings were unfortunately just meh... you could taste the truffle, but the pork was bland and they barely had any soup in them. It was my first time trying the glutinous tea... it was good, and strangely glutinous. Highly recommend this place. read more

I'm a total foodie, and I don't mind exploring different places and neighborhoods if it means finding great food. After doing some research, my wife and I came across this place and decided to check it out last night. Wow, what an experience! The food was incredible. We ordered the prawns with walnuts, the Peking duck, and the crème brûlée, and everything was fantastic. In our opinion, the crème brûlée was a little different from the traditional style, but it was still delicious. The service was friendly, attentive, and quick, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the interior is really cute.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall, an amazing experience, two thumbs up! We will definitely be back! read more

Was here with a group of 7 with a reservation for a late lunch. We ordered two half peking ducks, sweet and sour chicken, a few types of soup dumplings, and some other smaller dishes. Keep in mind that the inside of the restaurant is extremely cold. Everything was well made and had good portions. read more

I stumbled upon this restaurant by accident. I had previously visited Cheli and absolutely loved it, but I got confused because this restaurant is next door. I ended up dining here as well. I did notice that the place was different, but it didn't occur to me that it wasn't Cheli since the menus are very similar. We were seated quickly upon entering, but they placed us in outdoor seating room at the back where the heat was not functioning. They could have informed us about this, especially since I had a 3-year-old. After we ordered, our food quickly grew cold due to the frigid temperature in the room. I had to request a table in the central area, and they told me it would take 15-20 minutes. Eventually, they accommodated us and moved all our food to the new table. While looking around, I noticed that other diners served dishes over a flame to keep them warm, but we did not receive this service. We ordered pineapple beer for the table, and when the server brought the drinks, he unexpectedly provided an extra glass for my toddler, which seemed odd, as he clearly wasn't very attentive. The food itself was good. We ordered the braised pork belly with black tea sauce, which tasted similar to Cheli's, but I preferred Cheli's version because it included quail eggs. We also tried the steamed black truffle and pork soup dumplings, which were delicious; however, they were pricey for just four pieces, especially considering other local restaurants on the same block offer similar dishes. The preserved ham fried rice was excellent, and my toddler loved it! We also enjoyed the cumin lamb served on a sizzling plate, which arrived on fire and tasted amazing--my favorite evening dish also bought the stir fried loofah which was okay a bit smiley for my liken. Even though this restaurant is Michelin-recommended, the service did not meet expectations. When it came time to pay the bill, the server didn't say thank you or wish us a good night, which was shocking. I still can't believe they placed my family in an outdoor seating in the middle of a cold winter with no heat and thought that was okay. Overall, I wouldn't come back again. read more

It is a great place for family-style dinners but at a higher price for what it is. At first, two friends and I were seated outside at the extension?? of the restaurant. not sure why since there were empty tables inside..maybe they were reserved? But when we asked if there was an available table inside, they were hesitant to move us. It was such a hot June Friday night and the outside tables did not have AC. We ordered 4 dishes and a bowl of white rice to share. Okra in garlic sauce - 6/10 - there was no garlic sauce whatsoever and wasn't even spicy at all. honestly just tasted like blanched okra with some black vinegar poured over it Seafood fried noodles- 6/10 - the seafood was so MINI, ample (shrimp/scallop) but MINI. The fried noodles also weren't what we expected. it was udon. As a main dish, we kinda wish the portion was more. Deep fried tiger prawns with salted egg yolk - 8/10 - the flavor was good but again, kinda wish there were more shrimps instead of the hard yao tiew (crueler dough) Cumin lamb on sizzling plate - 8/10 - not too spicy/oily and had the mala Szechuan taste that complimented white rice Overall pretty good dinner, they didn't rush us out even though we took our time eating. Bill came out to around $115 for the 3 of us. Would come back next time to try other dishes. read more
The food here is absolutely phenomenal. We came as a group of 5 and ordered a bunch of dishes from the duck to their sautéed string beans. Everything was delicious, but the fried rice was a little too spicy for me to handle so I stuck with the other dishes here. It was not too busy for lunch, which is a good thing because our food came out really fast. It took less than 10-20 minutes for all our food to come out. The duck is to DIE for and the dish with the rolled pork belly is an amazing appetizer to get started with. WOULD DEFINITELY COME BACK AGAIN!!! read more
Honestly super underwhelming... it's a bit expensive and the food tastes good, but they skimped on portions and good cuts of food. For example, the dishes with bones in it had way more bones than meat... The restaurant itself is very beautiful! It's a nice place to take a big group that wants a nicer environment. Deep Fried Striped Bass w. Pine Nut in Sweet Sour Sauce: This was absolutely the star of the show! The fish meat was deboned and perfectly descaled. The skin was incredibly crispy and the meat was tender. They say they use fresh fish to make these, and it shows. Jelly Fish in Vinegar Sauce: The jellyfish meat was much tougher than I'm normally used to, but was still very good. The vinegar sauce was great as well. Steam Pork Soup Dumplings: I wouldn't recommend getting these as you could probably get better XLB at a lower cost elsewhere. It's not bad, it just wasn't great (given the expensive price). A must-go-to place in Flushing for its traditional yet refreshing dishes. Those who grew up eating at traditional Chinese restaurants will find Jiangnan's extensive menu familiar. You'll find your favorites from sautéed vegetables, soups, fishes, and to fried rices. At the same time, the interior decor and flavors has a more modern and grown-up flavor that should excited both young and old. We ordered the green beans, pork belly, duck and more. We found the half duck to be a bit pricy but worth the flavor. We have to come back here to try more on their menu for sure! read more
I wanted to check out this place for ages, but it's always so busy with long wait. Finally got my chance recently for lunch. The space is beautiful, and the tables are well spaced out. We ordered fatty beef with scallion, smashed eggplant, stir fried string and grilled fish. The fatty beef was spectacular, so tender and well seasoned. I would be happy to eat that everyday. The grilled fish was pretty delicious as well, the fish was so well cooked and seasoned. Conversely, the eggplant was a bit too salty, while the string beans was just average. Service was attentive without being overbearing. Overall, the dishes were mostly very good and I can't wait to come back to try more. read more

Came here with a group of 4 on a Thursday night at 7pm. I called to make a reservation. They will confirm the reservation and call you once your reservation time hits as they say they would only hold the table for five minutes. They did let me get seated first before my entire party arrived. I was excited to use the yelp check in for the free fruit tea or beer. However, I was put off when they said they only allow one glass per table. How cheap can you be? Other places would actually honor it for every person that checks in. That being said, I got one glass of fruit tea. It was refreshing but it was 75% ice. Onto the food, we got the peking duck, striped bass, eggplant with garlic, beef and potatoes, and jellyfish. I was not blown away by any of the dishes but they were decent and I enjoyed the food. It is pricier than other spots that probably would taste better. The peking duck was sliced small and I was a little disappointed they didn't use buns. The vinegar jellyfish was very crunchy/chewy. I prefer the Chinese jellyfish that are soft instead. My favorite was probably the striped bass with garlic oil. You get to choose sides with it and I thought the fish was cooked fresh. I also liked the eggplant with garlic sauce. Overall, with so many other restaurants in flushing, I probably wouldn't come back. It was a nice experience to try once though. I would come all the way here from Long Island City where I live on the 7 train just because I love this place so much. If you want to impress your relatives or parents from out-of-town, bring them here. Service is quick and efficient. Nice ambiance. 4 dishes for 2 people will come out to $100-120 (for a date/lunch). Ordered the sliced pork, cumin lamb, and mapo tofu and really enjoyed everything. The sliced pork was especially good, tender and flavorful. The cumin lamb had a very strong cumin aroma but was still tasty if you like bold flavors. The mapo tofu was spicy and delicious. Solid spot for flavorful, spicy Chinese food. read more
