I never do this but I almost felt I had to as someone who loves ramen to death with some words to the wise or just people wanting to try it out. I came here cause I had read it was top 10 in South Bay. I came by for a late lunch and was super excited to try it! I got the Tonkatsu Chashu. Here is the good, bad and the aches. Good: the atmosphere is great felt like I was in a ramen shop in Japan. Got to speak some Japanese, ladies we nice and quick and finished up in about 20 mins. The pork was really good had great flavor and the thick noodles we good. Bad: This broth guys my god was so rich and thick it almost had the taste and feel of gravy you would get on poutine. Don't get me wrong I love going to ramen and getting full but this was the worst kind of full feeling. I pride myself in polishing off all my broth but I couldn't do it. It just felt like drinking out of a gravy boat. Aches: Now that I've stepped away I feel like there is rocks in my stomach. I don't think I will eat for several hours it's rough. I really don't want to rip them apart here cause I only got 1 of the serval styles of ramen they have. Hello, I discovyered Jidaiya yesterday while looking for a popular ice cream place, in the same mall. Being a ramen lover, I thought I'd purchase one from Jidaiya. I bought the Tonkatsu Miso. The menu said that it had chashu (pork) included. I love chashu in Ramens. Anyway, It was a large bowl with tons of ramen noodles, lots of veges, nice flavor concept, and just one half of one piece of chashu. I felt like that was a bit stingy on the part of the restaurant. if you like a nicely flavored noodle soup, buy their ramen. If you are hoping for a reasonable (competitive) quantity of healthy (protein) ingredient, I'd avoid ordering from them. Unless of course, you order the one which has 'extra chashu' for $2 more. In which case, I'd imagine you'll get 2 half pieces of pork. read more

I came here because I heard the ramen burger was made here. Unfortunately, the ramen burger isn't the same as the one from New York. I didn't have either. The waitress said instead of ground beef patty it's cha shiu meat. Technically I guess it's a burger but it's also more like a soup-less, fried ramen dish. Therefore I opt out of it and ordered the garlic tan tan mien. I should've just ordered a regular ramen dish. The Garlic Tan Tan mien was full of garlic chunks with flavors completely boiled away. I didn't have garlic breath after eating it. The eggs was mixed up that you couldn't taste it. Not the same as from Ramen-ya. I think I just order the wrong dish. Sadly I've experience better. Definitely my favorite ramen spot in South Bay area. Ramen here is usually consistent over the years. It offers a variety of ramen style and combination sets, definitely got my money worth. I have tried most of the bowls, my favorite bowl is Tsukimi Yatai which I never felt tired of it. Service here is adequate, depending on what time you go, or how many people are working there. Okay, this is now my favorite ramen place. As everyone else states noodles perfectly cook: al clente. The broth was rich and flavorful. The pork belly was melt in your mouth heaven. I almost cried. I like that you can have add--on combo items to your ramen bowl for less than $2.50 such as fried rice, gyoza, kara age chicken, curry rice etcetera. Also their water is good. Must be filtered or bottled. And it's free. They don't serve alcohol but you can bring your own. Make sure you have your receipt for the booze. read more

I've been coming to Jidaiya at least once a month for over a decade. I would have always given it five stars. However, I don't know if it is due to Covid, but they have made some small changes that have not gone unnoticed and are negatively impactful. For one, they no longer offer free fresh garlic with the garlic press. Secondly, the yatai ramen no longer comes with corn and spinach and you need to pay to add them on. In addition, any ramen with chashu comes with thinner cuts and less chashu. With so many other ramen restaurants within a five mile radius, I find the price and quality ratio is no longer top competition and I will be diversifying my patronage elsewhere. Sorry. read more

I love this place. I went here the first time on a whim (before COVID). The environment is very homey and the customer service is great. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. Since Covid I have done pick up orders and they always ensure I have everything and my order is correct and they have the same welcoming and friendly vibe. Love the ramen very tasty and filling. I have been to this place many times. They have different type of ramen such as Shoyu, Tonkotsu, Spicy miso ramen, tsukemen, and tantanmen. I usually order the dry noodles and I love it! I love the Jah-Jah Men and the Hiyashi Chuka. I will order it again and again. They're both so tasty though the Hiyashi is more on the milder side. The Jah Jah men is for when I want more flavor and a bit of kick. The rest of my family order the Jidaiya ramen and they love it everytime we visit. Personally, I feel like the Jidaiya ramen is fattier/richer than the others I've tried. If I feel like getting ramen with broth, I'd get the spicy miso for sure. They have big gyoza pieces as well. Service is just right. Wait staff is around but not hovering which is perfect. Overall I would come back over and over again.
