The service guy (aka upsell guy) said, "The manufacturer specifies synthetic oil for this engine." How do I put this? Thinking charitably this is a L.I.E., or Little Innocent Exaggeration. Without thinking charitably this would be the regular lowercase variety of l i e. I asked for some written proof. He showed me a computer screen showing the type of synthetic oil THAT WOULD BE USED, IF the owner decided to use synthetic oil. I said good, please let me see it. He also said I had to sign, in his words, "a release" before they would put conventional oil in my car. I was presented with a standard document authorizing them to service my car, which I signed. He said he also had magazines that made this "synthetic oil required" recommendation. He went off to get it but never returned. Instead another employee returned when it came time to for me pay. JiffyLube seems to run a continuous "special". They also continuously offer coupons. This brings people in, then they want to upsell you -- get you to buy high mileage or synthetic oil, windshield wipers, etc., etc. I don't mind this because I know this going in. What I can't tolerate is L.I.E.ing. There are lots of folks out there who don't understand how cars work or how businesses like this work. Let the buyer beware. I came here with one of my cars and they told me my manufacturer recommended rotating my tires at a certain mileage so I paid for them to do that. I found out when I took it into Goodyear because the tires were rubbing that they never should have rotated my tires because they are different sizes in the front and back. They wouldn't give my money back. They offered $20 off of my next oil change. I already had a coupon for $15 off of my oil change and they wouldn't give me both discounts. Then I came here with another car of mine and they told me after doing an oil change for me that my car was leaking oil. They suggested I take it into a full mechanic shop. I did and the other mechanic told me that the oil filter Jiffy Lube had just installed had a cracked O-ring. I proceeded to have the other mechanic replace the filter and the oil as it was almost empty at this point. I went to Jiffy Lube to see if they would reimburse me the cost of my $135 oil change. They told me I should have brought it back to them. Okay, let's backtrack. They told me to get the oil leak checked out at a full service shop and my car was almost completely drained of oil once I got it there. In short, they acted like I was lying and trying to get money out of them that I wasn't owed. I only got $23.99 back for the damaged filter they installed - tax wasn't even included in my refund. So- normally I steer far clear of Jiffy Lubes because of some bad experiences in the past with creepy guys working there, and I went in out of desperation today only to be pleasantly surprised by the very fast and no-nonsense crew working at this location. Everyone was professional, courteous, and had me out in under 15 minutes. I came to this location on two separate occasions to have my fluids checked and an oil changed and not once did they tell me my fluid for the transmission was low and or that I had a leak! I went in on a Wednesday and the very next day my car started to tell me my transmission fluid needed to be checked called in and spoke with the manager mike and they documented in their system there was a leak but never disclosed this detail to me verbally and or wrote it on any receipt!!! now instead of being at work I'm running around trying to figure this situation out. Had somebody told me this Wednesday when I had the day off I could've handled this situation in the correct manner! I go to the Jiffy Lube website and download a $15 off a synthetic blend oil change coupon. I call the place and request a quote for how much this will cost for my Ford F150. I give them the make, the model, the engine size, the mileage, the weight of the oil, the oil type that I want (synthetic blend), I tell them it's going to need 6 quarts, and I tell them about the $15 off coupon. The guy enters this information and tells me that it will be $70. I ask him if I can bring it in during the next 15 minutes, he says "yes". 15 minutes later, I bring the truck in, give the guy the keys and wait at the counter. While I'm waiting at the counter for 5 minutes, my truck is moved into the bay. One of the guys comes to the counter and starts entering my info into the computer. Meanwhile, the other guy has the hood up and he's doing... Lord only knows what. I'm guessing he's doing the oil change, but how does he know what oil to use? The guy at the counter finally says, "I'm sorry, we don't have the right oil filter for your truck." i.e. a Ford F Series truck, the 1st or 2nd most common vehicle on earth. He then says, "Oh, we have this other oil filter, but it's $15 more. Do you want to go with this filter or would you rather wait for the regular one to be delivered?" Like pretty much everyone else in the world, when I go to "Jiffy Lube" I'm not hoping to sit around waiting for parts deliveries. Particularly on such a common vehicle and after I've already called ahead with all of the vehicle info. So, as (presumably) another victim of this scam, I say, "Well, I guess I want to go with the one that's $15 more expensive, not sit around waiting for deliveries." It ends up costing $86.48 for the oil change because there's apparently some additional "recycling fee" charge. The previous time that I got my truck's oil changed with synthetic blend, at a different place, it was $50. So, if you call this Jiffy Lube in Apple Valley, don't expect anything like an accurate estimate of cost. They quote lower prices than their exorbitant actual price, then "bait and switch" people to higher priced components and slap on fees at the end. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else where it's cheaper and the people give you an actual price quote. read more

I brought my car in as it was close to home and I thought would be reasonable priced. I waited over forty five minutes, even though I was the next car in line. Immediately after the change, my car started making this metal on metal grinding noise when I pressed the gas, and I assumed was the wind with a screw loose on the bars for my kayaks. Only it got worse, and louder. I took it into my mechanic and found out they never put the air filter back in. They left the screws and bolts rolling around in their. They never filled the other liquids, and did a half job on the oil I was told. Of course I call the store. The district manager treated me as if I was lying the whole time. Said he'd check the cameras and when checked, said they weren't working. He refused to refund me the oil change, just the filter and the amount for my mechanic to fix their mistake. No real apology. No concern that this could have resulted in a dangerous situation for my family and myself. Those bolts and screws running loose could have done serious damage to the car and resulted in an accident. I was lucky it didn't. Will I go there again? Not a chance in hell and I recommend you don't either. read more

I really appreciate the service I got from both Brain and David. I was running late to Jiffy Lube due to work and my car really needed an oil change that day. It was almost closing time but both Brain and David were willing to do the oil change. NOT ONLY did they do my oil change for my car, but they both also CHECKED my car thoroughly and pointed out car parts from my vehicle that were defected and not operating at its best performance and needed a change ASAP. THEY REALLY WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND even thought it was closing time. I really enjoyed their service and won my trust in them to fix my car soon and not another mechanic. Their work deserves a recognition because they're bringing excellent services at Jiffy Lube and showing customers like they showed to me. My car parts needed attention, and both Brain and David explained the difference between a defected car part and a high-performance car part. That's why I appreciated both Brain and David's service. So this place apparently has some mix reviews dating back a few months, however recently this place has definitely gotten better, the service is better than it was several months ago, and I think that is because Jiffy Lube employees at this location read the Yelp Reviews and try to address customer complaints and work with the customer to fix the issue, that takes integrity, and that is exactly what i saw in my recent trip to this Jiffy Lube location. I had to have an oil change so i went there and the management was very social, and attentive about the service work i needed done, the work was done in a timely fashion and I was on my way. A few weeks later, I noticed my anti-freeze was a little low in the reservoir, and decided to come back, not because I couldn't do it myself, I just felt it doesn't cost that much to have it top off, I drive in, again very good service, it was no more than couple of minutes and the guy didn't even charge me for it, he said to me that it was all good, just come back whenever you need service work done. This tells me as a customer that these guys care about the work they do, they care about their customer base. I recommend if you go to this place make sure you have Glen service your vehicle, he's a very knowledgeable guy and his crew knows what they're doing. -Alex read more

Saturday, 12 December 2015: I have had my oil changed on my cars at Jiffy Lube in Florida and since moving to California with the U.S Army. I have had it done several times in the city of Victorville on Bear Valley road. Service was okay there over the last year and half. My only complaint was that one time I paid for the additional service to clean my carpets and at first they did not. That was a minor complaint. However, on Saturday, 12 December, I was in the town of Apple Valley, Calif and I decided to take my Dodge in for a basic oil change. This was my first time at this J.L at 18737 US Highway #18. I pulled in, spoke to a man named Vaughn, the manager. Another employee pulled it inside. I was told to wait inside. Less than five minutes, I was told that they could not do the oil change because the oil pan bolt was stripped and stuck up so far inside that they would have to use a special tool to get it out and replace the bolt. I asked how much it would cost. Vaughn and his assistant, Glenn told me that it would cost me $20.00 plus tax to use a special tool to get it out and $5.00 to put in a new plug. I told them that I could buy a bolt plug at Auto Zone, he said "no only their could be used. I said okay, I will take it to my mechanic and ask him to take it out. I left the location. As I drove down the highway #18, I realized that I had to go to Walmart store to buy some other items. While at the Walmart in Victorville, I decided to ask the service department about taking a look at the bolt plug in the oil pan. I told a nice man at Walmart named Todd that I was told that the bolt plug was stripped and stuck and had to be replaced. Todd told me that "if that is the case, nothing he could do." I would have to take it to a mechanic shop. However Todd offered to look at it for free to tell me how bad it was. I was reluctant since I assumed it was a dead issue with what Vaughn and Glenn told me at Jiffy Lube. Todd told me, I had a two cars ahead of me and it would take a little over an hour, but it would not cost me anything. I decided to give them a shot at it. I went inside Walmart, browsed around the electronics and magazine areas. Time went by, I returned to the service center expecting the worse, but to my shocking surprise I was told my car was done, the oil had been changed, new filter was installed and to top it off, Todd even gave me my old oil pan bolt plug back to show me that it was Not stripped at all, just a old. I asked Todd did he have any problem getting the old bolt off, he told me "not at all, it came right off." Now guess what I am thinking about Vaughn, Glenn and Matt at Jiffy Lube. What a rip off, a bunch of scammers. They lack integrity. It makes me leery of Jiffy Lube and I think now if or when I go to Jiffy Lubes other locations, I will asked to see my old filter and check my oil dip stick to make sure the oil is clean and light brown and not dirty black. I will be calling the Jiffy Lube main office in Houston, Texas about the rip off scamming I got from the Jiffy Lube in Apple Valley. On a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being top and 1 being the lowest, I give this location a minus 5 and two thumbs down low, very low. read more

I went for an oil change. Literally as I was leaving their driveway and turning onto the street my dash lit up with 2 different warning lights related to the braking system and a message that said "traction control fault". I drove for a couple minutes to see if it would go away and it did not. I turned around and went right back to Jiffy Lube and told them what happened. They, of course, claimed that they could not have caused that because they did not touch anything related to the breaks. But that is a very very strange coincidence isn't it? Then he recommended I go to the Jiffy Lube on Bear Valley and Kiowa because they can check out that problem. So, I drove all the way over there to have them tell me they do not do that type of work. This was about 2 weeks ago and I am still really unhappy with my experience at Jiffy Lube. I do not know what I am going to do to fix the issues with my car that there is no way they didn't cause- or how I am going to pay for it. He tried taking advantage of the elderly lady before me and she left mad and had nothing nice to say about him.he tried telling me my oil didn't register and I should get an oil flush then was a jerk when I said no due to the fact I just checked my oil. Then when I left he made a disclaimer that my engine made noise now and put my filter in wrong. I came here to this location for the first time. They open at 8am on Sat. I was there about 10 min early. Although they were still closed they waved me in to the service lane. Opened door so I can have complementary coffee. When they called me up to the counter for my info they had already check all my fluids and we're ready to service vehicle. They found a bad AC belt and showed all the cracks to me. No pressure from them to fix it on the spot which is pretty cool (I'll do it myself). They accepted my Jiffylube on line coupon. Saved me some $$$$. Very professional staff. Hands down BEST oil change service my vehicle has ever had. When done it was waiting for me with the hood up and a technician waiting to show me all my fluids levels, washed windows, vacuumed, and tires inflated. I had recently changed my air filter and they made a point to tell me it was in good condition. My Spidey senses tell me to keep coming back to this location as long as service remains good! This shop has dishonest business practices. I have dealt with a Service Tech named Vaughn on 2 occasions. Both times he has applied additional and erroneous charges. I had a Groupon which covers oil, filter, and labor, but he charged me for the oil the first visit, and for the filter at another visit. I had to argue that the Groupon rate covered those items and I had already paid for them. At the time I thought he just didn't understand how Groupon works, but now I know he is just dishonest. Yes, the service is fast. But the other dishonest business practices make me wonder... are they really doing all the work they claim? Today Vaughn showed me an air filter that was black with grime and told me my air filter needed changing. I told him I would take care of it myself. I bought the filter and when I went to change out the old filter, I found that it was white to pale gray, not the grime filled, black one he showed me in the shop. He lied to me about the air filter. He took advantage of me with extra charges, and I trusted him and believed his explanations of why the charges were correct. Now I know he is dishonest and I won't be back. read more

Well im not gonna lie the jiffy lube sure was jiffy. The service writer went threw all the recommendations and i really need to get my truck back up to par. They said my mileage was over 75000 and i should should use higher mileage oil i have 134587 i had some leakes and the oil really did stop the leaks. The service was amazing i dont mind paying more for an oil change there. They will always have my business. Mobil oil high mile age or synthetic all the way. Great experience with staff and new manager. Quick oil change and they gave me a great deal on repairing a failure that occurred right as I pulled into the bay.
